101  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BTCDir - Bitcoin Directory on: August 28, 2019, 10:01:34 AM
Are you planning to add some services to your directory yourself?
If you have to wait until other people start adding their own websites, it could take a long time before your website is actually useful.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steemit.com: Blogging is the new Mining on: August 28, 2019, 09:53:31 AM

HF21 is live and working after experiencing some issues yesterday!
Notable changes are changes to the reward system, now authors receive 50% of post rewards and curators receive 50% as well.

You can downvote a couple of posts for free per day and you can vote posts immediately, without having to wait 15 minutes to get maximal curation rewards. (Now the optimal curation window is at 5 minutes)

103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in multiple altcoins on: August 28, 2019, 09:45:54 AM
I would really siggest investing in some good POS coins that allow you to get some dividends off of your holdings.
I've put around 2k USD in Steem for example and I delegate that to various people and bots to get ROI on that investment.

Even with the price tanking, I'm still making a pretty decent profit.
104  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Address that can lock Bitcoins and then release them aftter a specified time on: August 28, 2019, 09:04:27 AM
If you're going with coinb.in I highly recommend reading this guide that TryNinja made:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2415595.msg24712087#msg24712087

Can't get any easier guide on how to use Coinb.in for time-locked transactions.
Just don't misplace your redeem script Wink

You can set the unlock condition to date or block-height.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FREE] Instant Invites to Steem(it)! on: August 27, 2019, 08:50:39 PM
Free invites are not available until Steem HF21 is active without any more problems.
Also, it's 1 account per person. I've noticed some people trying to get more than 1 account, possibly to take advantage from the Steem Power delegation I add.

Not cool to try and find my personal e-mail address and send me messages on there. Either reply to this topic or PM me.
106  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What do you think I accept on my bitcoin website? on: August 27, 2019, 08:34:44 PM
BTCPay is fantastic, but I don't think it's a good thing to donate BitPay free exposure like this, because they definitely don't deserve this. The way they discourage using Bitcoin as payment option by charging an extra fee is just retarded.

I didn't know that they charged an extra fee for using BTC as payment. It is retarded and they really discourage using BTC.

If I were to buy something I would not pay with BTC if there were additional fees..

Just to make it clear, Bitpay charges a 1% fee to merchants, not customers.
To be fair, this doesn't necessarily discourage the use of Bitcoin, by either customer or merchants.

They need some revenue to run their service and they're still a lot cheaper than other (non-crypto) payment gateways.

That said, there's a lot of other stuff wrong with Bitpay Tongue

Quote
BitPay charges a 1% processing fee to BitPay merchants. Merchants may choose to pass this fee on to the buyer.

107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your gambling system? on: August 27, 2019, 08:25:55 PM
I've coded simulation for martingale that shows that it has lower odds of winning than putting all your money in 1 bet and going home with profit or 0.

Sorry that I'm cherry picking this statement out of your entire topic, but that's actually something I'm going to use when someone asks me whether Martingale is a good idea.
It's indeed much better in a wide variety of scenarios (not just with Martingale), to just place one bet that gives the payout you want, instead of doing multiple bets.

I reckon it would also be a good tool to prevent yourself getting addicted, but only if you sick to the one bet.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why i prefer mining and investing in ICO/IEO on: August 27, 2019, 08:09:07 PM
I've done some profitable mining in the past, but it was just not worth the hassle for me in the end.
You need a dedicated room for mining, your miners go obsolete pretty quickly and the profits aren't all that great unless you can scale up quickly.

That said, I've never invested a dime into ICO or IEO's, I stick to investing in projects that already have a product.
109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the benefit of being Satoshi Nakamoto? on: August 26, 2019, 05:59:49 PM
Don't you think he/she will get into trouble because of creating a decentralized currency which allow people to make transactions without permission of governments? If Satoshj appears, I expect him/her to be seen in the court.
In my opinion, the biggest benefit is selling bitcoins and remain anonymous.

There's a good chance yes. I mean, Ross Ulbricht got jailed for creating Silk Road 🤷(assuming that him hiring hitmen is 100% false) with a duration that even extends longer than some murderers. If the real actual Satoshi reveals himself, if he ever doesn't end up in court for some reason, he would most probably end up become missing or maybe receiving the "suicide with 27 gunshots behind the cranium" treatment.

That's not a great comparison though, what Satoshi did vs. what Ross did is wildly different.
Not saying that a government wouldn't try to go after Satoshi, but it would be for other reasons than with Ross.
110  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: It costs more to use bitcoin on bitpay than bitcoin cash on: August 26, 2019, 05:45:19 PM
I believe this is to cover the cost to spend the coin that bitpay receives from the payment of the invoice.

That's a BS excuse they like to pull to encourage people to switch to bcash. They wanted me to pay an extra ~$0.70 when the 6 blocks fee was 1 sat/B. Since I just wanted to buy a pizza that would amount to an effective fee of almost 10%.

**removed Takeway payment screenshot**

Tell me about it! I really wish Takeaway would just switch to another Bitcoin payment gateway, because the amount of fees they charge is way more than needed indeed.
Plus, have you ever had it happen that you manually add enough fees, by copying the payment to Electrum for example, just for them to put your payment on hold until you get enough confirmations?

Mind you, I get why they're doing this, my point is just that they do not use correct fee calculations.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Now I want to buy some kind of alternate coins. What kind of coins can I buy? on: August 26, 2019, 04:58:54 PM
I had some capital investment. Altar coins. Now that's 30% price. Will I ever get my capital back?Looking to invest in some capital. What can I buy alternate coins. Will Alter Coin Market return to its previous position?
There's no guarantee that the market will return to its previous position it will just be your faith and the risk to take on. If I were you just invest on the strong altcoins just like ETH or any altcoins that has big volumes in the market.

Exactly, there has been absolutely no indication yet that altcoins will return to their previous states any time soon.
They've been losing a lot of ground versus Bitcoin, so I'd personally wait until you see some indication of them rising again.

That also goes for top 20 coins in CMC, which some people are suggesting ITT
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need regulation pretty bad on: August 26, 2019, 03:57:48 PM
if there is really any way to make blockchain available to only professionals that are qualified it would have been a different story for crypto

One of the worst ideas I've ever seen on this forum.
Cryptocurrency is all about being free and open, everybody should have the chance of starting their own project, even if they do not have any experience.

Sure, that doesn't mean that unqualified devs should make scammy ICO's, but it also doesn't mean that we need more regulations.

How about everyone does their own research and stops investing into ICO's altogether?
I ONLY invest in open source projects that do not participate with this whole 'crowdfunding before they have any sort of product' thing.
113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenNode requires KYC now! on: August 26, 2019, 03:34:50 PM
The only way you can set up a service without kyc/aml is if you set it up as a hidden resource in tor or equivalent "darknet" site, or something entirely p2p like Bisq which uses tor hidden service for publishing.

The only place you could still set up services like that without kyc is in an unregulated country, which will no doubt get pressured to adopt regulations anyway.

In such site only the community itself can patrol funds origin, and you could end buying "tainted coins" (ie. stolen from an exchange/phished wallet).

Interesting times indeed...

Stop spreading misinformation. KYC is a thing made by paranoid people to extract personal info under the guise of protection. You just saying stuff but have nothing to back it up with. Are you some sort of lawyer or professional in this field to be making such vast claims.

No one ever needs your KYC the entire thing is bs and directly supports crime not oppose it. You talk of the dark web. Go look how much KYC stuff is for sale there. IT just makes peoples KYC into a commodity and criminals will thrive off of it by steal trading and otherwise abusing it. Without KYC they would have no access to this info.

Interesting point. What do you think is the main driver behind all these companies suddenly imposing KYC for all their users?
I mean, I could see it being required for larger payments, but not for low-value transactions.

You can get an unverified Paypal account and still use it to spend/collect a pretty decent amount of money.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FREE] Instant Invites to Steem(it)! on: August 24, 2019, 08:01:01 AM
@tvkhai94

Just sent you a pm and an email with an account voucher Smiley
Still have around 10 vouchers to give away, but I can always get more if they run out.
115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Burn Satoshis coins to end the threat of prices crashing - Paxful Founder on: August 22, 2019, 04:15:54 PM
Still, if suddenly a million coins moved from early addresses, I suspect the price would dip more from weak hands panic selling than from these "lost" coins entering the market. An attacker with the knowledge and technology to break ECDSA isn't going to be stupid enough to dump a million coins on the market at once. If these coins do move, I'll be waiting to buy the dip. Cheesy

I'd actually quite like that idea, it would mean that we'd get closer to the prospect of seeing those lost coins back into circulation again.
There can never be more than 21 million anyway, so even if Satoshi's original coins trickle onto the market, it wouldn't have that big of an effect long-term I reckon.

Rest assured that there will be enough people buying up those coins.
116  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Get All The Cryptocurrency News In One Place on: August 22, 2019, 03:46:16 PM
@Kemarit

Yeah, now it's a lot faster for me too, might just have been a temporary issue.
Or maybe now it's just loading from my browser's cache, who knows... Tongue
117  Other / Meta / Re: Can we have a Steemit sub-board in alts. on: August 22, 2019, 03:28:13 PM
Great idea, I'm really active on both Steem and Bitcointalk, so I would welcome more cooperation between these two platforms.
Are you active there as well, @Jet Cash? Send me your username in PM, I'll add you to my autovote then Smiley

Didn't notice at first that you've posted this in March, but still a great idea.
118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Humans Gamble since 3000BC, and Governments still try to ban on: August 22, 2019, 01:52:18 PM
What? I had no idea that gambling was completely illegal in Poland.
I agree though, it's completely stupid to ban gambling, it's a huge source of income for the government that they're missing out on.

Like you said, people are going to gamble anyway, so why not get some taxes from it at least...
119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I don't know how to trust a gambling site nowadays! on: August 22, 2019, 01:29:49 PM
Generally stay away from sites that offer high deposit bonuses, you'll end up losing everything if you can't meet the often high rollover requirements.
Just stick to sites like Bitsler of Crypto-Games, they do not ask for KYC and they do run a lot of promotions without rollover requirements.

There's enough choice out there, go over the gambling section here for a bit Wink
120  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blocked: The money transfer wars - Could bitcoin help? on: August 22, 2019, 10:27:03 AM
However, if no kyc is required and the website is legit, you will probably get paid. Just scream on social media and it will probably workout (as long as no kyc is required and they don't know where you are from)

The problem is that most websites that are affected by these transfer blocks usually already have some sort of KYC process in place.
It's the case with a lot of traditional gambling websites.

So, I personally do not see them making the switch to crypto immediately, since it would require them to overhaul their entire system basically.
What's more likely is that they will find some other way to circumvent these blocks, still using fiat currency.
