1081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: Solve the Quiz and GET 10 ETH in Every Week! on: December 17, 2018, 04:59:44 PM
Do you have any proof that you're actually holding these funds?
I'm always a little bit wary of people giving away coins for competitions like these, it's just so easy to cheat everybody out of a prize.

You could just have a friend 'win' the competition.

How will the winners be decided? What happens if multiple people solve the quiz?
Are the fund in escrow?
1082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone still using Medium to post Bitcoin related topics on: December 17, 2018, 02:38:17 PM
I still see a lot of people using Medium, to be honest, I had no idea that cryptocurrency topics should be avoided there.
Is that something new?

I personally just use Steem to write crypto-related blogs, I imagine the earnings are a bit less, but it's also less daunting to start writing there.

Okay, I'm really sorry for posting this, it's just my completely whacked-out sense of humor.
Do you recognize any of the behaviour presented in this post?

The spelling errors might have been a bit too much, it's barely readable, but it kinda adds to the vibe I get from these sorts of posts.

Disclaimer: this is a shitpost, intended to make fun of all the merit beggars on this forum.
1084  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★ Crypto-Games.net ★4 Years Old ★HUGE wagering contest ★10 million roulette bets on: December 16, 2018, 07:04:04 PM
@ poster above

I think you need this thread, as CG has mentioned: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5085531

Good thing that you mentioned it here, because I definitely would have missed it Tongue
Hope I didn't write too much on there, you'll see when you read my response on that thread.
1085  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: ★ Crypto-Games.net ★ Presents from santa! ★ on: December 16, 2018, 06:59:07 PM
My Crypto-Games nickname: eternalgloom

I like Crypto-Games because:

Oh boy, do you mind a short story?

Firstly, I appreciate what Crypto-Games has done for me, by supporting me on Bitcointalk since 2016 through their signature campaign. I know this story should probably be about the Crypto-Games website, but I would feel bad if I didn't mention this too.

Second, aside from being a signature campaign participant, I've also played on Crypto-Games for a long time. Look, I might not be a high-roller, but I've consistently played for small amounts on your website. Sometimes losing, sometimes winning, you know how it is ;-).

I very much like the fact that you support so many altcoins and that you guys have such a low house edge on your games. All your games are easily playable on just about any computer, no need for Flash or anything like that (if that's even a thing on other websites these days).

Just go look for any scam accusations on Crypto-Games, you probably won't find any, or rather, you won't find any trustworthy ones (I've checked Wink). Crypto-Games is pretty much the most honest crypto gambling website out there, I really think they deserve that title.

Withdraws are instant (by instant, I really mean instant) and all games are provably fair.

Enough with my little serenade, go check out Crypto-Games if you haven't already!
1086  Economy / Services / Re: [Crypto-Games.net] ★ Signature Campaign ★ Hero - Legendary[FULL] ★ on: December 16, 2018, 10:24:35 AM
Noted and I completely understand.
Amounts in BTC were getting a bit too high, I reckon Tongue Or the value of forum advertising isn't what it used to be.

Let's hope the Bitcoin price doesn't drop further Smiley

1088  Other / Meta / Re: Am I allowed to copy/paste my own message to warn people for a scam? on: December 15, 2018, 12:59:23 PM
Already found a better solution. I just made a post in Scam Accusations and I'll just point people towards that post whenever I see this scam again.
No need for me to copy/paste that entire message Wink

Locking this topic, since it's solved.
1089  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which services do you expect to die during crypto winter? on: December 14, 2018, 08:53:06 PM
@ AdolfinWolf

I wouldn't count them out just yet though, I think that ETCDEV quitting could have a profoundly positive effect on the development of ETC
I've been part of a group of software developers who've been ready to take over development of ETC, completely overhauling the foundation of ETC development from the ground up.

I've briefly talked about this in another thread of mine, it's an interesting read:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5084397 (ETC - Time to stand up against hostile centralized actors (Hostile Takeover) )
1090  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A proven way to make money from gambling - what's your opinion about this? on: December 14, 2018, 06:02:56 PM
Your title is completely misleading.

This isn't a proven way to win, this is just betting at low odds, which is probably the worse possible way of gambling... You're sur to win only a veeeeeeeery tiny amount of money when winning, and you lose it all if the horse gets to win...

Right. And i probably wouldn't have the patience for this tactic. Why gamble at all then? You take away the excitement by playing a little bit too safe that you compromise a lot of things that make gambling fun.

What does patience have to do with it? You increase your bet sizes and you can still win decent amounts...

That said, I do think that over the long term, you're bound to lose some time.
This might be a very low risk way of betting, but it sure isn't 100% guaranteed.

I really doubt that this is actually +EV for the player.
1091  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: TalkBitcoinTalk - Get PR and Views for your Project or Service on: December 14, 2018, 04:31:39 PM
Great that you've featured Partiko! I've been using the app myself for almost a month now and I'm generally very happy with it.
Steem could definitely use some more exposure and articles like these definitely help a lot!

Are you planning on featuring more Steem-related apps etc.?

I'd love to! In general we want to bring more exposure to as many quality projects as possible. If there is someone that has a steem app or any app for that matter, would love to interview them and share their story

Definitely take a look at either Musing or eSteem, those are pretty great dApps on Steem!

https://musing.io/ & https://esteem.app/

Dunno if you've ever heard of them, but I've been using both for ages. Great communities too!
1092  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone here active on musing.io? on: December 14, 2018, 03:53:41 PM
Also, the site's layout/design looks awful to me when compared to stackexchange (Or even Steemit), it looks like they really focused on mobile users or something.. I guess that might just be me though.

it just looks a bit empty to me, a little bit unfinished. But it's working though and there's some quality content on there as well, I'll give an example of a question I've asked there:

This is the top answer I've gotten:

I mean the guy clearly put a lot of effort into that and got rewarded accordingly. System working as intended, I'd think?
1093  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone here active on musing.io? on: December 14, 2018, 03:46:20 PM
oohhh first time hearing this! There isn't much info about the system like a FAQ or something but I do think it's be a mix of hit and miss since money is involved.

While the revenue could bring more ppl (and potentially good posters too), it could also disrupt the credibility of the questions and answers made mainly because it is more used to earn money rather than its actual use, pretty sure you would see not-so-good answers garnering tons of upvotes  Undecided

Nevertheless, Voicing out opinions on topics you're interested in, is still a good past time. And hey, you could also save a reader when the ppl with most upvotes have gibberish answers.

Just a question tho, Is there a limit in the number of answers submitted per question? 'cause its very possible that it could reach 40+

No, any questions can have an unlimited number of answers, but they do seem to have a specific window in which earnings from the @musing account are given.
The biggest upvotes come from the @musing account, I've seen single answers get around $10 in upvotes in rare occasions.

The gibberish answers are definitely not upvoted, I've noticed that. They're actually pretty good at curating content, so good answers and questions will appear on top!
1094  Economy / Scam Accusations / crypton-exchange.net Scam on: December 14, 2018, 03:01:56 PM
Lately there have been a lot of messages like these posted on this forum:

Hey

Website: https://crypton-exchange.net

How to get a bonus of 0.005 btc( 18$ )?

Enter this code: YQAOA in settings (promocode) https://crypton-exchange.net/profile#promocode_page )

IF YOU WANT WITHDRAW WITHOUT DEPOSIT, YOU NEED WRITE TO SUPPORT: "Hello, I want to withdraw without deposit" but before it you need to play one game in roulette from bonnus money.

What is the reason for the site to give me a free bonus? This is a lie? - not. This website is absolutely unique and has no analogues. Players playing against other players, not versus website, and the website will to receives a commission of 10% for each game and each withdrawal, 5% of this commission is invested by the website to invite new players.

This is a scam where they supposedly offer you a free bonus and say that you can withdraw your winnings after sending a message through their live chat.

When you place a bet on their roulette, you will always win a big amount. Then, if you contact them on the live chat, they will ask you to either send 0.01 BTC or ask you to 'verify' using a credit card.
After you've done this, they just remove your account and you don't receive anything.

Don't fall for this and don't even create an account on this website.
They will use your login data to check whether they can access other websites with that data.

Be careful!
1095  Other / Meta / Re: Am I allowed to copy/paste my own message to warn people for a scam? on: December 14, 2018, 02:42:16 PM
That seems like a very literal interpretation of the rules, I tend to agree with LoyceV on this one, but I don't know, you're staff...
Just in case, you can quote yourself.

Yeah will do, I'll also just add a small disclaimer at the end. That should probably solve it as well.
1096  Other / Meta / Re: Am I allowed to copy/paste my own message to warn people for a scam? on: December 14, 2018, 02:34:09 PM
@LoyceV

Yeah I know, I've been seeing that same thread pop up almost every day for the past week or so. They do get removed eventually.
Now, I didn't actually find much information about the scam itself through Google, that's why I went through the effort of actually pretending to join.

You basically always win like $500 dollars worth of Bitcoin with your first roulette bet and then they try to scam you through the live chat.

I'll definitely make a dedicated thread about this in Scam Accusations.

@Xal0lex

That seems like a very literal interpretation of the rules, I tend to agree with LoyceV on this one, but I don't know, you're staff...

Edit:

To respond to @Veleor

I don't count these posts myself for my signature campaign, since I 100% expect them to be removed when posts are counted.
Guess I can actually write a unique comment every time, it's definitely worth warning people for it IMO.
1097  Other / Meta / Re: Am I allowed to copy/paste my own message to warn people for a scam? on: December 14, 2018, 01:03:29 PM
@TryNinja

Aha okay, that's good to hear! I just wanted to be safe doing this, since copy/pasting is just about the biggest offense here on this forum.
Don't want to risk losing my account over it.
1098  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which services do you expect to die during crypto winter? on: December 14, 2018, 01:00:14 PM
Not really a service, but it's somewhat related.

I think a lot of paid dev teams will start running out of funds, you're already seeing it happen.

Steemit Inc. laid off 70% of their employees.

https://techcrunch.com/2018/11/28/steemit-a-decentralized-sharing-system-lays-of-70-of-staff/

ETCDEV went completely bankrupt and just quit their operations.

https://cryptobriefing.com/etcdev-ethereum-classic/

I'm sure that there will be many more to follow and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.
1099  Other / Meta / Re: Am I allowed to copy/paste my own message to warn people for a scam? on: December 14, 2018, 12:53:55 PM
I mean, the replies will just end up being removed with the thread altogether anyway.
Just want to make it as hard as possible for these scammers to reach possible victims.

I'll just mention that it's a copy/pasted message, that should have me covered.

Yes, of course I'll also report them, that's a no-brainer. But before they get removed, there could still be victims
1100  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for loan in btc from $2500 - $3500 on: December 14, 2018, 12:49:29 PM
I think you're going to have trouble finding someone willing to provide you this loan, even with a miner as collateral.
What kind of miner is it? Can you prove it's not broken?

Are there even escrow providers that are willing to accept a miner?

At the end of the day, you're still a newbie who's asking for a huge loan. red flags everywhere, even if you're willing to send a miner as collateral.

Could also be a ploy to sell your miner.
