Can anyone explain why my ancient 7950 is getting the same solutions rate as RX 470s?
Just read the previous 2-3 pages. It has already been explained.
Went back a few pages and through some in the middle of the thread, found nothing but benchmarks

Can anyone explain why my ancient 7950 is getting the same solutions rate as RX 470s? Do you think the newest gen cards will resume their reign with future tweaks?

Any idea why its off by like 10% from
http://etherscan.io/ether-mining-calculator

Yes, most other calculators are overly optimistic because they don't account for the huge amount losses incurred by the fast Ethereum block time (stale shares, uncles etc)

Mine is more pessimistic because it takes what you would be earning ideally (like what is given by the etherscan calc) and subtracts network delay losses. So it looks like this:

(Ideal earnings with 0 network losses) * (Network target time/Actual network block time)

The reality is mine slightly underestimates earnings because it doesn't account for uncles (yet). Even without uncles, I find my calculator is much more accurate that the others. See for yourself!

Noticed I'm getting a fair amount of mobile traffic, so I've made the utility mobile responsive! Also added a few new currencies: Russian Ruble and Australian Dollar

Do you guys know if I can use an Ethereum wallet address/private key pair exactly as is for Expanse? I know its a bad idea for privacy etc, but I'm just curious

Looking to make an Expanse mining calculator for people to use. However, I can't seem to find an api to fetch network stats. Does anyone know of one?

Thanks for mining calculator Grin Donated some ETH for you.
Wow that's so nice of you, thank you!

Yeah it seems to be a lot better than the others though. More info. More Accurate.

I'm thinking about implementing it into my comparison website.

That is if you don't mind of course?

Let me know if that's ok for you.

Greetings!
Sure that's fine, just have a link to the original on the page Smiley

Will definitely do! Smiley
Post a link here when you're done, would be cool to see!

I tried you calculator and it seems to match up with my own calculations, so kudos for not being over optimistic with the assumptions as you mentioned some other calculators seem to be. I also agree that figuring in electric cost is a major point that should be included in the calculations.
Thanks a lot!

It looks ok. Regarding style, it could do better.

I've seen that same calculator @ www.mininghwcomparison.com, over there it's even linked to the gpu's in the Ethereum section.

You can click it there and it will show you the results directly. Also, the style used over there is in my eyes a bit better.

Aren't there already to much of the same calculators?

http://badmofo.github.io/ethereum-mining-calculator/       Original one
https://etherscan.io/ether-mining-calculator                    Second one

http://ethereum-mining-calculator.com
http://www.mininghwcomparison.com/list/amd/index.php?algo=eth

And now this one.

The one at mininghwcomparison is the only one with something new. (Except the graphic that you have)
Thanks for the input, but I disagree. All those calculators you linked don't account for electricity costs. More importantly, they all grossly over estimate profits because they don't account for average network orphan rate.

Probably one of the best/easiest clalculators out there. I have a few suggestions though:

1) Maybe add the approximate halving date in there around mid July (very important for the last half of the year in mining).

2) Include hardware costs into the calculations.

Also, do you happen to work in the Hydro generation field? I may work for a company who's contracted with you in the past (judging from your BCHydro username).

Cheers.
Good ideas, both wouldn't be too hard to implement. I'll add hardware costs into the calculation ASAP

No affiliation to BC Hydro, the government owned monopoly electricity company in BC, Canada. I just live in BC, and I turn BC hydroelectric power into Bitcoins so I decided it would be a decent username Wink

Thanks everyone for the comments! Grin

Would be awesome if you could implement AUD.
Too easy mate! Done. Wink

Smarter profitability tables that account for future difficulty increases, and exportable data are on the list.

Thanks guys!
1018  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: New Mining Calculator Featuring Multiple Currencies and Responsive Profit Chart on: January 20, 2016, 07:00:10 AM
It's nice - but I find the BitcoinWisdom mining calculator much better still.  Yours only calculates your earnings after the next difficulty increase.  In reality, a miner needs to be able to model their returns after each difficulty increase.  Without taking that into consideration, a miner will have an over optimistic expectation of return.  Also - you should factor in the initial cost of hardware as well.  With a couple more updates, I think this would be great!
The profit chart does actually factor in a changing difficulty over time, but the output tables don't. I could see how that would be confusing. I think I'll change the second table to account for changing difficulty. Thanks for a feedback, that's super helpful!

Why was a block time of 1 min chosen?
