is everyone else seeing that they have to closely watch their public hallmarked nodes to check if they get stuck on a block?

Not doubting YOU... just to be clear because there have been a lot of concerns with Hallmarks (passphrase security, setting up, etc.). keep in mind that hallmarks are not injected into the blockchain. The only thing I can guess here is that the hallmark check in the admin page just tests to see if it passes checksum, and doesnt poll the network as a whole to see if there are newer ones. and that otherwise, when nodes on the network detect other nodes with conflicting hallmarks, that the older one is invalidated. CfB would have to confirm though, but thats my best guess

CfB, what do you think about this idea. my account balance is very modest compared to many big stakeholders but I am running 5 very large powerful nodes. would it be a good idea for me to get some large account holders to Hallmark for me and let me run their large balance hallmarks on each of my 5 nodes?
I am a network engineer by trade and in general we build a core network around some very large routers. my thought here is this follows through with peer to peer and since I have 5 very large horsepower nodes but my hallmark is not very good weightd high at all because of my fairly low account balance so I'm thinking that if some high balance accounts can hallmark with my hostnames for my nodes it may help the network
I think it's a good idea as long as u don't go to dark side of the force. okay everybody you heard from the man and since I'm here for the long haul will any large stakeholders who are currently not using their hallmark anywhere please PM me so I can get this setup I don't think it is a good idea until such a large stakeholder will get an ability to control hallmarking and unhallmarking by himself. Or there could be a time limit for hallmark to be valid. they already have this ability all they have to do is create a new hallmark with a new date and it will invalidate all older hallmark

reposting in case anyone missed it: PLEASE if there is anyone with more than 1M NXT (the more the better) and you are NOT using a hallmark for that account anywhere, please work with me in generating a hallmark for my VPSs. Ive got one 8GB-RAM one now and would like to upgrade some others to 8GB-RAM but theres not point b/c my account balance isnt fairly high, especially split between 5 servers. It would be ideal to build a network of very powerful VPSs around the globe but to work optimally they need WEIGHT and weight requires a large balance of NXT CfB, what do you think about this idea. my account balance is very modest compared to many big stakeholders but I am running 5 very large powerful nodes. would it be a good idea for me to get some large account holders to Hallmark for me and let me run their large balance hallmarks on each of my 5 nodes?

You need 1.7 that why it says Unsupported major.minor version 51.0
yes I see... it seems unlikely that theres just not a package for jre1.7 for debian6... is that really the case? You could try via PPAwell this looked very promising but the command to fetch keys failed... can someone give me a hand here, trying to get at least 3 more 2GB VPSes up and running before the next major attack (freebsd guy here all this yum/apt-get and keys crap has me confused)

im trying another vps proider, they didnt have debian7 but did have debian6, i couldnt install 1.7 jre but did find a 1.6 jre to install. I tried to start and got this: root@vps6:~# cat ./nxt/nohup.out Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: org/eclipse/jetty/start/Main : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0 at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:634) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(SecureClassLoader.java:142) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(URLClassLoader.java:277) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$000(URLClassLoader.java:73) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:212) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:205) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:321) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:294) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:266) Could not find the main class: org.eclipse.jetty.start.Main. Working on node infrastructure with a full redesign of nxtbase to support 100+. I won't open source my new management stuff for a bit, but here's a handy one for you VPSers running ubuntu. $ sudo apt-get install --yes supervisor $ sudo service supervisor restart
will it work on debian 7 x64? It should. Let us know! i got the supervisor thing installed. do i also need to install nxtbase or what? where does my web.xml go?

Seling 25K NXT, proceeds used to fund public hallmarked VPSs. Min transaction amount is 5K NXT till its gone. Selling in 5K increments. Rate is 0.000056 BTC per NXT, this is less than the last rate on DGEX
5K NXT = .28 BTC 10K NXT = .56 BTC 15K NXT = .84 BTC 20K NXT = 1.12 BTC 25K NXT = 1.4 BTC
No PM. Everything kept visible in this thread. confirm first in this thread, then send BTC to my address 143Z9iWr38eah9xxGwyUaDcsrmhPQEE9SM

Working on node infrastructure with a full redesign of nxtbase to support 100+. I won't open source my new management stuff for a bit, but here's a handy one for you VPSers running ubuntu. $ sudo apt-get install --yes supervisor $ sudo service supervisor restart
Then copy file like this to /etc/supervisor/conf.d/nrs.conf: [program:nrs] command=java -Xms$MIN -Xmx$MAX -jar start.jar autostart=true autorestart=true stderr_logfile=/home/$USER/nxt/logs/stderr.log stdout_logfile=/home/$USER/nxt/logs/stdout.log user=$USER directory=/home/$USER/nxt
will it work on debian 7 x64? Replace $MIN and $MAX with your memory limits. Replace $USER with your user. The run: $ sudo supervisorctl reread $ sudo supervisorctl update $ sudo supervisorctl status
Now, what do you get for your efforts? Restart on crash Restart on reboot handy commands for start/stop/restart/status ( sudo supervisorctl CMD nrs). Cool huh?

Ok my 3 public nodes are up, running and perfectly synced You can add them into your web.xml if you wish
95.85.46.233; 162.243.140.133; 146.185.129.54;
First one is 2GB Hallmarked, the second one and the third one are 512mb not hallmarked. It seems this configuration is enough after the introduction of the Ddos protection.
I'll try to keep these running forever, or at least until i die. If you want me to help more the network adding more and maintaining these 3, feel free to donate NXT to my address (in signature), i'll use them only for add/maintain vps.
who is your vps provider? I wouldnt get them added to wellknownpeers unless they are at least 4GB-RAM. I upgraded the one of mine that I saw was added to wellknownpeers to 8GB-RAM. just to be safe. Who is your provider? Ill give you 10000NXT if you will upgrade your 3 VPSs to 4GB-RAM, thanks to klee I think it was who gave me some NXT to help with this function. also, FYI I got this from digitalocean There has been a response to your ticket:
Greetings,
All servers come with a 1Gb/sec. network interface. Plans start with 1TB per month and increase incrementally. At this time traffic statistics are not yet available. Until these statistics are readily available to you, we will not process any charges for any additional transfer beyond your droplet plan.

hey all im back up, and updating my 5 VPSs to 44, I see that one of my VPSs was added to wellknownhosts, and that particular VPS will not sync up, so thanks to (sorry i forgot who did it) giving me more NXT I will upgrade it to an 8GB-RAM / 4TB-DATA VPS, should work good then. May also upgrade the others from 2GB to 4GB and will also prob add a few more 4GB-RM VPSs.
looks like the network is finally a bit more stable. nice work all, really good to see all these VPSs coming online, I believe once the userbase does swell like we want it to, wouldnt we able to start taking some VPSs down?
