LOL! Afghanistan continus to defeat big names in cricket! What exactly is happening in this World Cup? A team that ranked last in the 2019 World Cup suddenly started defeating teams that expected the least. Another good game by Afghanistan with a an amazing ability to chase runs. With this win Afghanistan are now place 5 th on the point table. Next, they woul be playing against the Netherlands and if they are able to defeat them, then they might have a chance in the semifinals.

In the current situation, the match is not going to Sri Lanka Away but in the previous matches of this World Cup, we see that in the first innings, another team is looking good and after the innings break the other comes as the winner.

7 wickets gone in 41 overs, Afghanistan bowling is way above average, they have restricted Srilankan batters and I think Srilanka might not get to 200 runs. Extremely poor start by the Srilankan batters, they are batting below expectations of every Srilankan fan. This game might be another match where we can see a close finish. If Afghanistan is able to defeat Srilanka it will be another upset and as I said earlier Afganistan would go straight up on the point table above big names.

Afghanistan won the toss and took the fielding decision. I don't know why they decided to field on such a batting friendly pitch. The pitch is completely batting friendly. So I think Afghanistan team would have benefited more if they had won the toss and decided to bat.
They chased very well against Pakistan and were able to restrict Pakistan batters to a small target. Thinking there previous performance they might have taken the decision to bowl first. Winning this match is not a major concern for the Afghan team. They are here to mainly disrupt ranking and create upset. It is not an easy task for them to be in the semifinals. If they win today the Srilankan team might not reach the semifinals. |

Another good win by the Indian team. They remain undefeated in this World Cup with 12 points on the point table. Absolutely amazing bowling by the Indian team especially Mohammad Shami. He took 4 wickets today and could have taken a fifer if Bhumrah hadn't took out the last English batter. He cannot be ignored anymore by the Indian team management after Hardik Pandya makes a comeback. India will be playing with same team next against Srilanka. I don't think they would make any changes to the existing team.

The last known batter for England, Livingston is out. 8 wickets gone within the 30th over. This game is going to end in another couple of overs. Another game where Indian batters were not good but bowlers proved that they are an attack to reckon. Mohammad Shami again proved that he needs to be part of the playing 11. After Hardik makes a comeback which I am uncertain for now, Rohit would be in a dilemma to choose either Shami or Shiraz.

Netherlands won the toss and decided to bat first against Bangladesh. If Bangladesh had won the toss then Bangladesh would also have decided to bat first. Both the teams have good reason to decide to bat. Compared to Netherlands, Bangladesh is a strong team in batting and bowling, so Bangladesh expected to bat first and throw a big target against Netherlands, but since Netherlands is not a strong team like Bangladesh, they thought more to give a target by batting first.
In ODI cricket, Bangladesh have won more matches by batting first and they have won fewer matches by batting later, so if they win the toss today, they would definitely get the opportunity to bat first. We are noticing two changes in Bangladesh XI. These two changes were definitely needed for Bangladesh as the two players who were fielded today did not perform well in the previous two matches.

After watching total of 25 matches in the world cup. Yesterday game was a close one and I felt Pakistan would win. Untill Nawaz gave a lose ball and Maharaj hit it for a four. Wasim Jr debut was a special one as he took 2 wickets. I don't know why he wasn't given an opportunity earlier in the tournament. With this loss Pakistan are out of the tournament and there is only 5 percent chance that they would reach the semifinals.
South Africa leads the point table they now have a sure shot entry to the semifinals. Today Australia will be playing against New Zealand and if they are able to defeat the Kiwis they might sneak into the semifinals race.

Pakistan at 267-8, they still have 5 overs left and RR is fine but they don't have any batters left. As long as Nawaz is playing, they have hope 300, which would be a good total against SA.
I have doubts if SA will win today or not, all their high scores came while batting first, they are such a fail in this tourney when chasing as we saw them against the Netherlands.
271 is the target for RSA to chase and the way this wicket is not turning out it will be easy for their batter to chase. If Pakistan can get an early breakthrough then they would have a chance to win the game. Spinners will again play a crucial role but the question is does Pakistan have enough runs on the scoreboard to defend their target? I am not confident with 270 runs as I feel a target of 300 runs would have given them a good advantage today. |

Saud Shakeel's innings was the reason why Pakistan was able to cross 200 runs. The way Pakistan's opening and middle order batted if he had not played so well then Pakistan won't stand where it is now. I was not hoping Pakistan to choose to bat first after they won the toss. I felt they should have bowled first and then chased the target. Now I understand why they choose to bat first, as this team lacks the confidence to chase runs. If South Africa had batted first they might have gone beyond 300 runs which would have been difficult for the Pakistan batter.

After yesterday's incredible win against England the Srilankan team has jumped to the 5th position on the ICC WC23 point table. Pakistan is now on the 6th position and if they lose today against the South African team they will go below Afghanistan. They will be out of the contention to reach the semifinals, which means Pakistan would be out of the World Cup. |

It would be a good comeback if Pakistani team could defeat the South African team. The only way they can do it is by playing exceptionally well today. South Africa has batters that are easily scoring centuries. If Pakistan bowlers can attack those batters and get their wickets then they have a chance. The game will be again played in the same stadium where Srilanka posted their big win. If they can then why not the Pakistani team. Toss would again play an important role today.

Bad News for India
According to media reports, Hardik Pandya has suffered a bad ankle sprain. He won't be able to play in the upcoming matches against England and Sri Lanka. The swelling on his ankle has gone, he has not started bowling yet and has been advised by the doctors to rest in the upcoming matches. I guess India will go on to play with the same playing 11 against England and Sri Lanka. I do not think the Indian team management would try anything different for now. |
