1001  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My DIY Avalon-based mining board (Davalon) on: June 29, 2013, 09:01:14 PM
Good stuff man.

Do any of the online PCB places sell short runs of custom boards that others have designed?  I've seen sites like 4pcb.com and pad2pad.com, but they seem to only make boards if you design it in their software.

Olimex will, if the original designer gives them a permission letter.
I have not checked lately what the limits of their trace size are.  A few years ago, I think 8 mil was their limit.

1002  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitspend got shut down, is there an alternative? on: June 29, 2013, 08:48:49 PM
Now it's like we are forced to go to the silk road to even use bitcoins.

Are there any other bitspend type sites?

Think a bit about how this will look when the defense attorney puts your posting up on the display for the jury, describes "silk road" in very unflattering terms, and tries to discredit you.

You would help yourself a lot if you will post fewer posts, and think the ones that you do post through a little more clearly.

1003  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: June 29, 2013, 08:40:23 PM

just for you (since I've noticed not many have been providing this info) here's mine.

I received mine a few days ago, I expect/hope you will get yours soon!

*NOTE* one thing I noticed and really worried about when I placed my order was that I neglected to add a fee, and I remember my transaction took a very long time to get into the blockchain. (over an hour for my first confirmation)  -- as you can imagine this was quite nerve wracking at the time and I have second guessed myself ever since... but it appears as though it had no effect on the shipping queue. In my case at least, it appears that I was placed in the queue as soon as I hit the button, not when the payment cleared.

Take heart, and may your avalon arrive soon and hash fast like a cheetah! (*side note, most batch 2's can hit 345 MHz no problem, so if you were expecting 66 GH/s you may be pleased to be surprised with 75+ sustained*)

ProfMac, n of 1 here but I don't see that the shipping is by transaction #. My transaction is in the block after shmadz and he has his, and I'm still stuck on processing.

I am only a few 10s of blocks after him, so I am encouraged.  As for yours, perhaps his was the last one processed before the weekend and you will be processed Monday.  I think we are all trying to match whatever evidence we can think of with reality.  The reason I focus so much on the transaction number is because Avalon officially said that shipping follows payment order.
1004  Other / Off-topic / Re: Murder Trial in the Bitcoin Public eye on: June 29, 2013, 08:26:35 PM
What?  You think someone killed a child and you haven't called the police?  I don't understand.

No, I KNOW someone killed a child. The police were contacted, and no one pressed charges. But I was not present for that, so I am now doing my part.

The body is at the morgue, they have even done an autopsy. It's not like this is going on in a weird way.

Murder isn't the kind of crime that one can choose not press charges on...the state always presses charged for the crime, you can't stop it...but there must be some evidence to charge someone...and it does not require funding to prosecute. I'm confused...Huh

Murder IS the kind of thing to can choose to press charges on. Look at the Walmart Heiress, she committed vehicular manslaughter but the family decided not to press charges.

And it is being treating as a "death from natural" causes type thing, but I do not call a bad parent "natural causes".

There is evidence. He has claimed on record, at the hospital and to family members that he brought the M&Ms home, HE put them in a bag separate from the one labeled with warnings. And he coaxed my brother to eat them.

Intent or not, there was a murder committed the way I see it. The rest of the family sees an accident. I see a bad parent that deserves to not raise another child (which he has one, one year younger, which is also my brother).

My daughter and I were shot, and she died.  I have been through a murder trial, and I have read the relevant law carefully and discussed it with the district attorney.  While I am not a lawyer, I do have at least this much direct experience.

There are two broad divisions: criminal and civil.  Murder is criminal.  The two parties in a criminal action are the defendant (your stepdad) and the state (whatever state you live in).

The prosecutor represents the state.  While his interests may be close to yours, he does not represent you.  You will not have standing in the case.  At most, you can be a witness.  Everyone will be watching you for a variety of reasons, including your emotional stability with a view toward whether you will act improperly in the courtroom.

Let me expand a bit on "you will not have standing in the case."  This means that no lawyer can represent you in this criminal matter.

My general impression from reading your threads is that, yes, you went through a horrific event.  By the way, this is true for every witness or family member in a murder trial, so you are just "the next case" in the prosecutor's office.  My impression continues that you appear to be a hot head, emotionally driven, and you tend to try to fit the facts to your emotions.  That is a dead end approach, and it will make the prosecutors believe that they have to "manage" you.

The defense attorney will do everything he can to put your stepdad into a good light.  For example, he might say that he was just playing, and that you brother knew that the peanuts were moved.  Presumably anything the defense attorney says is true, but "true" can be very slippery when he says "My client says ...."

In a bigger picture, and without knowing the answers to lots of important questions, I think your larger responsibility in the present is to your mother and brother.  Presumably she is in danger, and presumably she at one time was very devoted to your stepdad.  She is probably very conflicted in her thinking right now.  Some basic questions for you to consider are whether she herself is in immediate and clear danger, and as a completely separate question, whether she will remove herself from the danger and stay removed.  If she will return to your stepdad, it becomes much more difficult to help her.

Order #29xx made on February 18, 2013. Order status: completed.

What is the transaction number when you paid?

Date: February 18, 2013 06:28:35 PM

I think Avalon ships according to the transaction number.

1007  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: June 29, 2013, 06:29:02 PM

One thing to check, turn the device on, try to ping the original address as well as the default address and see if you get a response.. if you do get a response from some address, unpulg the avalon and try to ping that same address, if you still get a response, you may have a network conflict.

(*my apologies if this is too basic and you've already tried*)

arp  <-- also a useful utility on both windows and linux

1009  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who else from Avalon batch 1 hasn't received a unit or shipping information? on: June 28, 2013, 07:55:20 PM
Its hard to know where he is. At least its a NY-Number so i guess one should go after NY-Time. If he is in NY or in China... one cant know before. I guess when he sleeps he will stop the phone from ringing anyway.
But i must say im disappointed. Promised support and now its nearly like before. I think i wont buy again from avalon as long as im not fully sure that i dont need support. And thats really uncertain.
In the future there will be enough other companies that do support and have offers that are similar or even better to the one of avalon.
Its sad that Yifu didnt see the necessity of support and only tried to solve it halfheartedly on its own.

This is a business opportunity.  The schematics are online.  Make a shop unit, grab your scope and learn all the wave-forms, do repair for fun and profit.

1010  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: June 28, 2013, 04:39:33 PM

What is the claim in the lawsuit?

I don't have that information. I'm only going off of the info provided by AudenX in the most recent email update:

"I have been reading discussions on Twitter, /r/bitcoin, and bitcointalk.org over the last week that indicate some individual Bitfloor users have recently taken legal actions against Roman and Bitfloor. I am going to reach out to those users to learn what they have done and try to find out how those actions might affect refunds."

I would have to assume that some folks with a lot more money at stake than me have had enough of the silent treatment.

Even so, for a lawsuit they have to allege some wrong, and offer some way to gain satisfaction.
If they are tired of the silent treatment, I am not sure that is the basis of a complaint.
1011  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are going down HARD [TA] on: June 28, 2013, 04:36:46 PM

This theory is only partial correct

Truth is, I have had some difficulties applying it.

to me, no matter what he wakes up. once he is indifferent to the issue.
For such an attitude is usually done worse.

When I confront people I have less success than when I approach them in a civilized way and ask for information and steps toward a solution.

It depends, do you want to be rational and get your device, or emotional and seek drama.

1014  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 28, 2013, 01:15:08 PM
got me a new toy today Smiley

What was the transaction number for your payment?

What can I sign-up to this lawsuit?

As I understand it, no class action suit has been started. These law suits are being filed by individuals.

What is the claim in the lawsuit?

1016  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: June 27, 2013, 07:19:57 PM
Just got my ASIC. The plastic coating on my Avalon.. I'm supposed to remove, rigjht?

Yes, the case is part of the heat dissipation.  Mount it "flat" and upright.  Possibly a good idea to have space beneath it.  Allow plenty of clearance for the air-flow.

1017  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: June 26, 2013, 10:40:06 PM
finally 2 of mine got labelled "Completed" today.  the countdown begins!

congrats!!!

your order number and date?

anyone got info about order #3xxx?
Why do people keep asking about the order date? I thought batch 2 orders are ALL on the same date.

Avalon has said that they ship in the order paid (I can't find the posting right now).

People are asking about order number to have an estimate of when their unit will ship.

I think this is not the right information to look at.  I think the information that bowjob and  I have posted is the information to look at.
