1041  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit deadline on: May 20, 2018, 06:00:40 PM
I don't personally care if merit is "decayed" in some way.  Any system of decay will NOT prompt me personally to send more merit.  I don't have that much left (not a source) but my problem is always finding decent posts (that aren't repetitive).

I'm not sure decaying them will have the desired result.  I would rather they go back to ground from whence they came then give them to shitposters (this is not an implication that the OP is a shitposter).
1042  Other / Meta / Re: Please can we have a political discussion board. on: May 20, 2018, 02:08:30 AM
Are you trying to say that P & S mod is not doing his job? wait for the cartel members to tag and defame you for your sins.

I don't think anyone is implying that. We all knew how hard it would be to clean up that cesspool, and The Flyinghell fish is currently knee deep in it.

Thanks mate, I am doing what I can.  It will never be enough for some butthurt trolls but whats a guy to do eh?!

Thanks for the auction, will wait for you to get payment details together!  I assume you can ship both of mine together and I don't need tracking info.

1046  Other / Archival / Re: Abuse of DT power by actmyname! on: May 18, 2018, 11:53:22 AM
It looks like I will forever see digaran having a red trust now that actmyname painted on his wall.
digaran remove his avatar now I think this is getting serious not just trolling anymore.

I at times feel bad for Digaran... I sincerely believe that he's just an overt troll, but not a Scamster; but then I can't judge him for others...

Negative trust does NOT mean a person IS a scammer...  Why is it hard to understand that some people SUBJECTIVELY don't fucking trust a mentally ill troll.

Quote
I dunno how others feel on this, but obviously this constitutes as online harassment and if someone responds by saying that look at what @Digaran did, that's no excuse...

You're so right NO ONE EVER should be judged by their actions...  Huh?   Huh? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Do I need a /s here or can people understand my sarcasm...Huh
1047  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon pursuing 7nm technology on: May 18, 2018, 02:16:54 AM
There is no way Avalon has any plans to stop selling BTC miners in the near future, they have likely made 10's of millions (or much more..) selling hardware, no company is walking away from a cash cow where customers are LINED up 10 or 20 people deep at times.  What the release is saying IMO is that future revenue growth or new revenue streams will include alt coin miners and AI and other high density computing ASICS.  I don't read anywhere that they are moving away from mining at all.

A successful business is always expanding and exploring other revenue streams. This is exactly what bitmain is doing with their Sophon AI business. Avalon is just following the industry leader.

I think that they will shift as bitmain is doing.

Adding additional complimentary vertical markets and new revenue streams can hardly been seen as shifting away from mining.  Neither company has given any indications that their core business is changing at all.  Now that their core business has made them millions and millions of dollars they have the luxury to strengthen the corporation by adding in diversity to their already significantly profitable and relatively stable revenue stream.  Multi billion dollar business don't shift away from their core business while expanding new business, that would not be smart.
1048  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon pursuing 7nm technology on: May 17, 2018, 11:27:25 PM
My message brings an update a year later to this thread... but as part of Canaan's IPO announce, 7nm is confirmed for the "second half of 2018", see page 94 of http://www.hkexnews.hk/APP/SEHK/2018/2018051401/Documents/SEHK201805150005.pdf

"System Products for Other Cryptocurrencies
We currently have an ASIC product for a cryptocurrency other than bitcoin under research and development, for which we have completed front-end IC design, and expect mass production of final products in the fourth quarter of 2018. As of the Latest Practicable Date, we had received pre-sale orders of over RMB53.6 million, subject to the successful test of prototypes. We will continue to develop different types of ASICs to address potential market demand for products with high performance and repeated computing power that can be used for other types of cryptocurrencies that require high computing power.

We began to develop ASICs for AI applications in 2016, and plan to mass produce chips for edge computing, which are known as KPUs, in the fourth quarter of 2018. Target applications include voice and image recognition functionalities in smart home, smart city, smart surveillance, smart toy, and several IoT applications. As of the Latest Practicable Date, we had received pre-sale orders from a variety of customers in a provisional amount of approximately RMB38.2 million in the aggregate, with the actual purchase amount to be adjusted with reference to the then market price of the products after the prototypes have been successfully tested."

"Our future revenue growth, if any, will depend largely on our ability to expand beyond bitcoin mining application and penetrate into new application markets, particularly those ASIC application markets with demand for high performance and computing power or for other types of cryptocurrencies or AI products, all of which are still under development. Each of these markets presents distinct and substantial risks; and
• Our customers and suppliers are based globally, and an increasing portion of our revenues have been derived from sales to customers outside the PRC. As such, changes in government policies, taxes, general economic and fiscal conditions, as well as political, diplomatic or social events expose us to financial and business risks. In particular, changes in policies and laws regarding holding, using or mining of bitcoins could result in an adverse effect on our business operations and our results of operations. Moreover, if any domestic or international jurisdiction where we operate or sell our products prohibits or restricts bitcoin mining activities, we may experience material loss of revenue"

Looks like they may abandon or shift from mining gear

The random story that makes no sense starts off with an ice cream truck, a chef, and a piece of Pluto. The guys that owned the ice cream truck stole the piece of Pluto from the pastry chef who obtained it from the flying elephant. The flying elephant got it from a sumo wrestler who obtained it in the sumo championship on Saturn.

They went to Saturn because Jupiter was full of mutant beavcoons. The beavcoons were from Mars where the bubbly bubbles, an ancient gang that was buried in Camelot lived.

The bubbly bubbles came back after the clowns resurrected him in an ancient burial spell of magicalness.

Then the corndog from Venus lead an attack of canoes onto the Russians who responded by taking away McDonalds from China. Since China didn’t have anymore McDonalds they decided to buy a Pizza hut.

wait what are you saying?

It never fails--these morons make these kinds of threads, which only calls attention to their OTHER misdeeds, and they get even more red for it.  My tag isn't going anywhere, and I'm glad marlboroza gave him a new one.  Good job, OP.

And speaking of posts, why have both of you stopped posting here and you're not contributing to the community anymore since you've got tagged?   Cheesy
You and I know exactly why that is.  If these people can't be in a bounty, shitposting up a storm, there's no incentive for them to be here at all.  Hence all the garbage posts that they've strewn about and hence all the whining about the feedback that was given.
The stupidity is quite enjoyable to watch in action!  They got a little more than red paint this time!!!!!
1053  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Charity Auction] Save the Bees 2 SILVER PANDAS 1 RING and 1 CUFF LINKS TOO NOW! on: May 17, 2018, 02:43:18 PM
krogothmanhattan, thank you for this - for helping to keep the momentum going following ChiBitCTy's initial auctions - and all who participated in those.

To flyinghellfish, very cool project, I've always been amazed with the quality of things I buy on shapeways, my 3D printer goes largely unused thanks to them, thank you for the donation, and HenkCryptotank, - beautiful work! Do you have a website, I'd love to see more. Thank you for your support.

Anorganix, WOW, thanks that is awesome.

And MJ, I just noticed your banner linking to Haven, I don't know how long that's been up but very cool of you to do.  Cool

I'll step in soon and hold an auction of my own for Haven, too.

Neither Jarrett or myself were expecting any of this, so I know this is gratifying for him, and I'm excited to see this community helping out my brother help the bees and our planet - it feels good to be doing good!

My pleasure, seeing the generosity of the community inspired me to participate!   I saw Krog running this auction, assumed he donated to coins and thought, hell I can help a bit too!

~snip~
yeah  buy a tv with a miner built in to it at a premium it then pays you back somewhat like an exotic rebate.

or buy a tv without a miner it is cheaper but never pays back.

say 1000 and earn 10 a month

or 800 and earn 0

it is a 20 month roi.

Still creates mainstream.

Get a cable box with a miner
get a cable box with out a miner.

ideas like this would be possible.

I think it would likely look more like 1000 and earn $0.10 a year and use an extra $50 a year in electricity

or 800 and earn 0

so after 24 months you have a $1099.80 TV.

An appliance miner is never going to compete with high density mining farms, we already have CPU's but no one use's them to mine to "reduce" its capital cost's.
1058  Other / Meta / Re: Discussion in need: "Report to moderator" on: May 17, 2018, 02:14:56 AM
Hilariousandco has a point... Just report one post and state everything, ex. "there are similar post from this forumite on different threads/boards" that way, we can check the profile of the said person and do what's necessary...
Moderators sometimes give conflicting answers. It's either the above, or sometimes they say it's easier to handle them if they're all reported.

I wouldn't dare speak for anyone else but because different mod levels have different abilities I think this may lead to some conflicting answers?

I don't get a lot of reports in the P&S section but if its a general "low/no value" type report than I personally want to see each report so I can run down the queue handling reports quickly and efficiently.  But the little P&S section is nothing compared to all the boards with no local mods in which the globals end up taking care of so perhaps they don't want a million individual posts reported?

I can't "handle" request for ban type reports, so they get "left" by me and in the queue for a global mod to handle.  I can see why they wouldn't want multiple posts reported about the same "user" issue and I'm pretty sure they do check profiles to get info on the user.

It's definitely kind of annoying to have to think if a board has a local mod or global mod and is it a shit post or ban type report but at the end of the day I personally like seeing any reports LOL!!

I've never looked at a report (from a legit user) and said to myself "I wish they hadn't reported this" or "this user is an idiot for reporting this".  Even if I disagree and mark it as a bad report, I still appreciate the report none the less.

Well hope this helps with a little perspective from your friendly neighborhood P&S mod!
1059  Economy / Goods / Re: 🔥🛒💍 Crypto Rings In Precious Metals - Starting At $49.95 USD on: May 16, 2018, 08:56:27 PM
Looking forward to the pictures of produced rings.

Production is complete of the very first BTC Signets.  I received a tracking number today for the first prototypes!!!

I have an 18k gold plated and a Fine detail polished silver BTC Signet on the way to me!!!  I don't expect it to take too long and will post the pics soon!

I placed my order on May 6th so 10 days to produce a 100% unique ring seems quite reasonable to me.  Hopefully only a couple days in the mail and I would have my order in about 2 weeks from ordering!  Now lets hope the quality is good!!!

I also ordered a BTC Bull & Bear a day later so hopefully that piece isn't to far behind this one!
