1061  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Metaspins.com Scam Site Dont put your BTC There!!!!! NOT pay 9500 USD winnings on: March 09, 2023, 11:07:42 AM
Unfortunately, due to all the gathered evidence, your accounts were disabled and fraudulent winnings were removed.

This doesn't make sense. You claim to have removed fraudulent winnings, but you've stolen his deposit. So what is this about, his fraudulent winnings or making a few dollars at the expense of a client?
I've worked in customer service for 2 years and we'd never hold client's deposit, even if that client was using multiple accounts or trying to cheat KYC.
Your explanation of a bonus abuse doesn't hold because OP won a lot of money. Many times more than the bonus provided by the casino, so the casino did not lose money because he claimed the bonus, but because he got lucky and won and he would've won without the bonus, because according to him he deposited a much higher amount than what he was betting ($420 to play with a $5bet).
I don't know what the bonus was, but you could've handled it in many different ways that would satisfy both you and the client, like returning his deposit only, or subtracting the bonus from his balance.

Would you mind giving some more details about the case?
I'm asking because the multi accounting argument is also pretty weak, since OP went through KYC procedure.

Did all "his other accounts" also submit KYC?
Did all other accounts also have deposits, if yes then how big?
Did other accounts also win money in your casino?
Did any of the accounts managed to withdraw anything?
1062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A remark on casino bonuses on: March 09, 2023, 10:48:04 AM
There's few casinos being transparent with their terms of service of the promotion, but many casinos are tend to ask the user to create a new account first. It just a way to attract new gambler, it's tricky but they're not scam. If you think hiding terms of service of the promotion is scam, you can create a new thread in scam accusations section and obviously you're attacking many casinos in this forum lol.

It's worse. Often they give you a bonus and wait if you win anything, then don't allow you to withdraw until you go through KYC, even though you haven't deposited any significant sum, and aren't trying to withdraw a lot. You can deposit, claim a bonus, lose the bonus and try to get your money back and you're hit by KYC just to get $200 back. This is bullshit as you're clearly not a money launderer and most countries allow for $1k payments without any KYC simply because these are such small amounts that nobody would try to launder this way.
1063  Local / India / Re: India's money laundering rules to apply to Crypto Trade - Gov't notification on: March 08, 2023, 08:21:38 PM
^
That's what I think too.

What if an Indian individual exchanges crypto for crypto using a business not registered in India?
What happens if the same Indian citizen exchanges crypto in the Internet for currencies not legally accepted in India?

The Indian government cannot ask an exchange in Japan to send them their AML report for someone who was trading in Japanese Yen, therefore I believe this is only for local businesses, located in India and trading in Rupees.
If citizens of India trade crypto and exchanges back and forth between stable coins, I believe they're also out of the country's jurisdiction and outside of their AML laws.
1064  Economy / Economics / Re: Silvergate bank on: March 06, 2023, 06:17:30 PM
We will see how the stock performs tomorrow. It’s good news that it wasn’t seized over the weekend by the FDIC. However shutting down SEN doesn’t look good.

Currently kraken and Okcoin still use the bank but not with the SEN. Most likely there will be more concrete events coming out this week and maybe they will get some help somehow. However with no deposits coming in and SEN offline then I don’t see how they can make any profits.

IMO they're going to be bankrupt, unless someone throws a lot of cash their way.
Should we care? I sure don't. If someone was doing deals with Sam the Fraud it's on them. The only downside is Silvergate was legit. They weren't scamming people like Sam did, they weren't putting people's money at risk, but they were dealing with shady clients, because someone whose director of trading is his former girlfriend, who also is a stoner, is not the guy you want to lend money to.
The team that manages risk at Silvergate did the biggest mistake of their careers and we're watching the aftermath of their decisions.
1065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is a good wallet I can use to store Bitcoin? on: March 06, 2023, 11:00:58 AM
I actually thought OP was referring to liquid-staking derivatives until I saw his username.
I actually were introduced about Liquid-Staking derivatives (LSD) but I were doubtful about future of these tokens and think I will get a safer investment with Bitcoin.

I will use Electrum wallet before having money to buy hardware wallet. Thank you everyone for your help.
[/quote]

Maybe it's liquid-staking derivative adventure Cheesy

Haha so it is liquid-staking derivatives adventure Cheesy
I don't know if you're aware, but when a "user" goes on adventure, he means tripping. If that wasn't intentional, your name would fit great on r/drugs.
Anyway, use Electrum. Had it for many years with no issues. I rarely even update it because I don't have time to verify the files, so I do updates maybe once a year and everything works fine. Not that you should do it like that, but it's an easy to use wallet, practically idiot proof, easy to recover and all that. If you don't want to buy a hardware wallet that's your best choice.

Thank you for reminding us.

I'm sure you're aware that merits are disappearing every day and the one earned 121 days ago is no longer visible. If this person posted a day before that they have 70 merit and you come the next day and see 68, it's possible they actually had 70 at the time of posting and you're making a fool of yourself by correcting them.

One interesting thing among the quoted posters is that one of them got all of his merit from the same person.
1067  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: investment advice? on: March 03, 2023, 08:42:31 PM
Take a break from investing for now because it’s most likely you would make the wrong choice, I don’t know how you learnt about Binance or trust wallet, I would guess because they are popular and you probably think it’s your best option.
I don't agree. Every time is good to get some bitcoin, you just have to be smart about it.

Let's say that you have 10k USD lying around, waiting to be spent and you have a steady income that allows you to cover your basic needs. Divide that 10k into a number of parts, like 10 times 1k each and dollar cost average by spending 1k every week, or every month if buying each week is too much for you.

Put the coins on a desktop wallet immediately, if you don't have, or don't want to buy a hardware wallet. Don't keep it on exchanges and don't use web wallets. I'm not recommending a paper wallet because it may be annoying to use for a beginner.

While buying, project a profit within 24 months. Don't check your balance every day, or even every week, it will only make you nervous. Forget about the investment, at least for a month or two, it will teach you patience.

1068  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why recommend when they don't understand the risks? on: March 03, 2023, 07:17:25 PM
Bitcoin is still a gamble. Plus, there's no way to predict that someone might actually develop something that is better than Bitcoin, and eventually we might come to that.

What is the meaning of better? There are coins with biger blocks, faster transactions, cheaper coins, more coins in circulation, less coins in circulation, centralized, anonymous, with partnerships, with councils, with CEOs, with market strategies and plans, with apps build on them, with side chains, with forks, without forks, with coin burning, without burning... All of them fail when compared to bitcoin, all of them have lower market caps, less users, less trading volume, less real transactions.

Quote
At the moment, it's by far the best, and the most promising in terms of increasing your personal wealth, but it's not bulletproof. We're still going to face challenges in the near future, and well into the future, and there's going to be a element of risk that we aren't successful as we'd like to be.

I think investing into Bitcoin not expecting some of these challenges is risky in itself, and will likely lead to panic when we do hit these challenges. So, while Altcoins are definitely a lot more risky, Bitcoin isn't invulnerable to issues itself. Since, I've been involved we've had to solve several issues that have popped up, and while none have them have seriously threatened Bitcoin up until now, they have affected people's perception of Bitcoin, and therefore lead to higher, and lower rates of adoption.

Aren't you describing every single investment on the planet? They all have issues, they are all risky. Fiat is risky and it has issues and so do bonds. Trusting the government is risky, holding money under the mattress is risky, owning physical gold is risky, moving to a different country is risky, buying a property is risky and renting it out is even more risky.

When we compare bitcoin to everything else, I'd say it has a pretty high chance of surviving and becoming something much bigger than it is.

All of us should think about the question. Would you feel better putting your savings on a bank account so it can lose 10% a year for the next 20 years, buying a house with it that will tie you to a country with taxes and all the maintenance that this house needs, or buying bitcoin.
1069  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casinos lack slot clubs; comps, is it hard to achieve? on: March 03, 2023, 07:03:43 PM
Every casino has their own way of marketing strategy to attract customers and keep them engaged so as you're saying offline casino may offers free perks whereas online casino offers lots of bonus, free spins, events and promotional campaigns, weekly, monthly rewards, etc so there is no lack of such events comparing with offline when it comes to online casinos.

Online casinos are slacking because they know they have a big new market opening. People who use these casinos will use them anyway. They aren't competing with physical casinos but with each other. If none of the online casinos offer big competitive bonuses, the others have no reason to do it.
The situation is different with physical casinos that are gradually losing a lot of their market to emerging online casinos. It's been happening for more than a decade now. IMO most physical casinos will disappear in the next 20 years.
1070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Experience on Bulk Bankroll vs Partial Bankroll on: March 03, 2023, 05:46:13 PM
I like partial as well.

I often get caught in this attitude where I see my total bankroll and think I can allow myself for more freedom in betting since I still have this much money. Say I have $100, I often make bigger bets at the beginning like $5 because I feel like I have a big margin of safety and then when this margin disappears I start being more careful and miss opportunities. It's better to divide your bankroll into at least 2 parts and divide session into 2 days where each time you come with a clean head.
1071  Other / Politics & Society / Re: We Need More girls in Cryptocurrency Trading. on: March 03, 2023, 05:29:00 PM
IMO we don't need any more people in crypto trading. I'd argue that trading doesn't benefit bitcoin in any way. It's just a way for people to make a few more dollars from people who are forced to sell at low prices due to fear, or personal reasons. I don't see why would you need more traders instead of more investors. I also fail to understand why you need women to do it. I'd rather see women launch startups and offer goods and services for bitcoin. This actually increases awareness and has positive impact on bitcoin ecosystem, while trading doesn't. Aren't traders the people who are now crying that crypto is a scam because they were keeping their savings on Scam Bankster's platform?
1072  Economy / Economics / Re: Benefit from Higher Education? on: March 03, 2023, 05:09:18 PM
For me it was pretty useless. OK, not completely. I have a masters degree and all it taught me was how to do research, how to rephrase stuff, to make lists of important points and use it in my own thesis. You might think it to be very basic knowledge, but kids finish high school these days and have no idea how to do it. They can't do creative writing, write summaries and reviews. The level of written and spoken language among the millennials is at bare minimum.

Would I send my kids to college? Yes, I would, just so they try it and maybe learn some new skills. It didn't help me much, but maybe it will help them. If they choose to drop out, it will be their choice and I'll be able to say I did everything I could to give them a good start.
1073  Economy / Economics / Re: Silvergate Bank share drops 50%, Major Crypto Clients Stops ACH operations on: March 03, 2023, 04:44:01 PM
I don't care much about these institutions. Bitcoin was made to be an alternative to banks allowing self custody, so there's no reason to use a bank when you're a true crypto believer.
Wil this have an impact on the markets? Sure, it already has because many people are dumb and still try to play both sides, the centralized and the decentralized one. For instance, I wasn't affected by any of the well known altcoin implosions because I don't hold altcoins. I wasn't affected by FTX collapse because I don't hold money on exchanges, and I'm not going to feel a thing when Silvergate or any other lending platform like Celsius goes down. Choose the right path for you, you either go the risky path with all the lending, staking, trading, futures and levers, or you choose the simple and safe path of holding your coins on a hardware wallet and laughing in the faces of scammers.
1074  Other / Off-topic / Re: John Fury didn't sign the contract but wants double payment from Jake Paul on: March 02, 2023, 08:30:09 PM
He had plenty of time to sign that and if he chose not to do it it's all on him. If I had an opportunity to make a bet and did not finalize it, I wouldn't go asking for the money. I'd feel like a cheater. Fury should know this is going to make him more enemies than friends.
We can all see that old man is all about money now and gets angry when they ask him about it. He knows it was a bad choice on his part and doesn't want to admit it because he's stubborn and grumpy like most old guys. Does it really change anything about the fight? I think it doesn't. They both got their respective shares of the money and should leave it at that.
1075  Economy / Economics / Re: Would You Consider Adding Bitcoin to Your Retirement Savings on: March 02, 2023, 07:51:28 PM
I don't have a government retirement fund. I've always been avoiding social security as much as I could and instead buying properties and investing. I have some money in the bank, some real estate, and a lot of bitcoin. Maybe not a lot compared to what some people own, but a lot compared to my total savings. Probably 80% of my liquid assets is in bitcoin, so I don't need to add anything to my retirement fund. My retirement fund already consists of bitcoin.

If I had some money saved up for retirement, I wouldn't add it to my bitcoin stash. I'd feel that going over 90% is pretty bold, even an enthusiast like me, but if I had nothing I'd gladly choose as much as 50% of bitcoin exposure.
1076  Economy / Gambling / Re: shame on the stake on: March 02, 2023, 06:31:15 PM
it was the lag of their site. Yes, I can and will refuse, because the situation is absurd. I have been playing in this casino for several years, I bet small amounts, but quite often, during this time I have filled myself with VIP, and in such a situation the casino simply refused to compensate for its lags. especially since I asked to just cancel the bet as it would have been logical, but in the end they just ignored it.

I just want people to know that such situations can happen and that such a notorious casino will not be on your side.

I understand it, but the question is: can you prove that it was a lag on their side?
Even if you were recording it on your device, they could say that your request was delayed due to your provider not a lag on their site. You'd have to be streaming this live to have a chance because people would see that your connection to the streaming service was uninterrupted while the casino was lagging.

That said, I understand you feel cheated but there's basically nothing you can do. I sometimes exchange bitcoin using an ATM and it processes the order and gives you a transaction code, but sometimes it lags and the price changes in the meantime. I had a few times where there was a 5% move in bitcoin's price while I was waiting for confirmation and ended up cancelling the deal.
1077  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people go into gambling? on: March 02, 2023, 05:56:13 PM
I asked this question here because I can't get the answer.

Because there's no single answer and if you can't find it it means you're simply not satisfied with all the answers that you're getting or too lazy to look for yourself.
People gamble for various reasons. For some its a way to kill time, others find it to be a social experience. Some gamble because it's a tradition, part of culture, while some people try to get out of a difficult financial situation by gambling and often getting deeper into debt in the process. Pick the answer that fits your profile.
1078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: March 02, 2023, 05:44:28 PM
My wife would probably kill me lol. If we did this back in the day, we would have probably close to a billion dollars right now, depending on when we did it of course, I mean like when bitcoin was 10 bucks, but of course I wouldn't do it at all, its like the signing of my death paper Cheesy All in all, its of course great if you could have the balls to do it, because in the end if you get richer, then your wife would be happy too, which wife would say not to a lot of money, they would be pretty excited about it. But in order to do it, you would have to risk a lot and that would cause a lot of trouble for you and definitely not something I would do.

Same here. If we had no money she'd tell me to take a loan or sell some bitcoin and spare her bling Cheesy
After taking a look at that jewelry I tend to think she must be Indian or Middle Eastern because the jewelry looks pretty traditional for that area. Where I live we don't wear "heavy" gold and this kind of bracelets.

Anyway, I wouldn't do that if she's attached to it, unless you have no money for food.
1079  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake Loses $400K Bitcoin Bet on Jake Paul’s Bout on: March 01, 2023, 10:09:07 PM
It's not new, he is vlogging all his bets and most of them are high amounts. I won't be surprised about this kind of bet that he did for Jake Paul. I too am a victim of losing money from trusting my money for him. I really thought he won that fight but we cannot defy the judges' decision.
What can we learn about the bet of Drake?
Nothing much. If you cannot afford such an amount don't bet like him.
There must be a limit on how much we can afford to lose and on his stance, he can and it's not difficult for him to make that much money again considering his net worth.

Drake is making money by losing it from all these sponsorships. I wouldn't be surprised if one of his sponsors covered some of that loss directly or by giving him rakeback or some form of credit.

He's not going bankrupt from such a bet and this is already working for him because we're all talking about it. This means more twitter followers for him, more viewers on his streams, more sponsorship invitations from casinos because everybody wants to have a high roller on their side.
1080  Economy / Economics / Re: Money is for the important things on: March 01, 2023, 09:58:11 PM
I have a few things that I want to buy but none of these is urgent. This is the main reason why I invest in bitcoin because I know I might need money in future but I don't need it now.
When you know bitcoin will grow in value over time investing becomes something clear and obvious because it can take 5 years before you can take some profit but eventually you will.
I'm not spending my money, I'm still saving. I know that one day I'll be too old and too weak to think of working and that's when all of this will come into play.
