1081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you not hodling on: July 05, 2023, 07:19:33 PM
Lack of financial stability is the most common reason for people failing to hold even if they wish to do. So anyone who wishes to start investing whether it's on crypto or gold or any other asset need to achieve financial stability prior to making an investment which is possible by start saving money and reducing everyday expenses by being disciplined,

Once you saved decent money then you have to allocate it for investments which gives you a sense of control over your life and You can make decisions based on what you want to do, rather than what you have to do to make ends meet.
1082  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tornado cash and others mixers on: July 05, 2023, 02:20:06 AM
All mixers work the same way, why are some in the viewfinder and not others?
Operating a mixing service is not illegal but when they are found to be abused by users to violate the laws will get them to face the consequences. So whatever crypto mixers have broken the guidelines such as it has been used for money laundering purpose can face legal actions.

How to know if the holders of such an address have committed illicit activities or not? Can the owner of the mixer know? Is its role to block addresses possibly?
Obviously by tracing and investigating the user database along with the address used in the instance of hack, scam, crime, etc and its connected the dots with a mixer address. Mixing service platform may blacklist the funds incoming from addresses related to hacks.
1083  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tornado cash and others mixers on: July 05, 2023, 01:47:56 AM
Here is the actual reason
Quote
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/08/08/crypto-mixing-service-tornado-cash-blacklisted-by-treasury-department-.html
Crypto mixing service Tornado Cash blacklisted by Treasury Department for alleged use in laundering

The Treasury Department has sanctioned the popular cryptocurrency mixing service Tornado Cash for allegedly helping launder over $7 billion of virtual currency.
The decision means that Americans are banned from using the service.
Similar sanctions were imposed in May 2022 on another popular service, Blender.io.

....

This is not the first a crypto mixer is sanctioned, blacklisted or shut down completely even in the most recent days the most reputed bitcoin mixer called Chipmixer was shut down by EU and US accusing of money laundering.
1084  Economy / Economics / Re: I cannot go home if I don't make a lot of money now!! on: July 04, 2023, 02:17:58 PM
when i was kids, i need to study very hard, to get a lot of score in the test. if i got a zero mark in a math test, i am very scare to go home and show the test paper to my mum.

when i am grown up, i have kids and wife now, i need to work very hard, to get a lot of money in the job. if i got a paycut, or i got fired, i am very scared to go home, i can't sleep well, my head is sweating, the memory of getting zero mark in a test keep haunting me like the nightmare, i need to go out and make a lot of money!!

tell me anything i need to do to make a lot of money. doesn't matter what, i would do anything to get all the money, even if it mean unlawful and unethical!
So you are just scared or actually got fired from your job?

If you sre scared all you need to do is to find another source of income along with your salary so even if you are fired you still have secondary income.

If you are already fired then just apply for another job meantime you just do whatever job available in your residence.
1085  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Optimizing health and holding Bitcoin for everyone. Some helpful tips on: July 04, 2023, 12:02:50 PM
Bitcoin isn't a job then why you need to spend 24/7 on it? To keep it protected learn about hardware wallets, paper wallets, etc so the chances of someone accessing it is impossible at any moment. If it's just a investment all you need to buy and forget until you have to sell. All those points are not related to cryptocurrency at all, just to live balanced life for anyone who is busy in their fast moving world.
1086  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The relationship between educational qualification and quality of post. on: July 04, 2023, 10:03:25 AM
Do you think the level of academic qualifications and life experience that a member of forum has, has a direct influence on the quality of post that  he/she makes here on this forum?
Do you feel users who are known to be quality posters in various boards are individuals with high educational qualifications and vast experience.

I don't think so, academic qualifications are nothing people learn things when they start doing it practical. Quality post is subjective but as long as it conveys the context to the readers the extraordinary writting skills are not that important but someone with that skill can outstand from all others.
1087  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin Has A Lower Value In Binance on: July 04, 2023, 05:06:06 AM

So this is the issue, your app isn't "Binance" but "Binance US" which is different from each other and has separate regulations.
The sub-$31,000 price that other have shown you and the one you're seeing in the web are for Binance.

For more info, you can use the Google Search the term "is binance us and binance the same".
There are countless articles about it in the search results.

Omg I'm so confused.  Sorry for not mentioning binance.us in the OP.  I've always been using binance.us for many years and the btc, eth, and all other prices have always been consistent.  Why are they lower now?
The BTC/USD on Binance seems always lower than the global market or atleast in the last 1 Month time frame and FYI the price of a cryptocurrency on an exchange depends on the demand and supply for the particular pair on that particular exchange so never expect to see the same exact price on every exchange.
1088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KYC propagation beyond my ownership on: July 02, 2023, 03:28:47 PM
In most places so long as you can show it was no longer under your control it's not your problem.
No different then if you sold your car for cash and the person who bought drove it away from your house and then used it to be the getaway driver in a bank heist.

Do you have a bill of sale for the car or did you just take the cash and hand over the keys?
If you do have a bill of sale can you prove that it is legitimate? Did you make a copy of that persons ID or did they just tell you their name?
If they did show you their ID and you made a copy is it legitimate or a forgery?
And so on.

This really can be applied to just about anything. So, can it happen? Yes. Is it worth worrying about? No.

-Dave
Unlike bank accounts where we have our name and all the documents submitted while in Bitcoin there is no such documentation all we can do is to claim we received the money from someone when you sold your car but the transaction I'd can't serve as solid evidence that you received it from someone else. But when we have such monetary system the laws also will be created based on that which will ensure we are not involved in shady practices.
1089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KYC propagation beyond my ownership on: July 01, 2023, 04:18:58 PM
If you are really afraid of this, you can either :

-use a P2P service for the original purchase of your BTC, without KYC, so you don't have to worry about all that.
-or use a coin mixer before sending it to your friend, but you risk to flag the coins doing that

Thanks for the reply. And for the pointer to kycnot.me (and others).

I'm curious if coins obtained from all non-KYC sources of Bitcoin are equally at risk of being "flagged". Say I buy some Bitcoin off Bisq. Is there a risk I might never be able to send it to a CEX or other "government compliant" entity as it's flagged? In an ideal world everything would be P2P, and this would be a non-issue, but that's not the reality at this stage. Maybe I'm being unnecessarily paranoid, but these are the questions that come up as I'm trying to learn. Thanks again.

I understand your concerns of buying Bitcoin from Non KYCed marketplace so as precaution you can mix your coins before using it on any KYCed platform so the traces of those Bitcoin will be erased but we can't ensure anything that we receive from the mixer which may arise further query. However It's worth noting that even if your coins are flagged, it doesn't necessarily mean you won't be able to use them. It just means that they may be subject to additional scrutiny and investigation by exchanges or other entities that have to comply with government regulations. So if you didn't involved in any illicit activities and have the record for your income then you can survive.
1090  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk; a school on its own. on: July 01, 2023, 02:49:42 PM
I wonder how many of the forum members using bitcointalk prior knowing the Bitcoin cause we are supposed to come here yo find about bitcoin but without knowing what it is the chances of ending here is quite low.

Bitcointalk taught me various things which helped me to get stable financially after some economic crisis in personal life and over the years I understand the need of Bitcoin so that government can't control the supply of currency anymore which will seize the inflation and let the people to enjoy the money they make.
1091  Economy / Economics / Re: Ignore this Classic Business Law or Follow Your Instincts? on: June 30, 2023, 04:07:00 PM
I attended a business seminar where a facilitator a renowned professor, and Entrepreneur shared a story on how he missed out on investing in a small fintech start two years ago which as at today is worth $500 million. He said the team had approached him to make an a investment in the start but because he did not understand how the were going to make money since he didn't invest the $100k he wanted to write them. Today, he would have been $7.5million richer had he invested.

They say do not invest in what you do not understand which was largely the principle the speaker adhered to but what if despite not immediately understanding the business model and its profit making model yet your business instinct pushing you to invest. What should you do? Listen to the former or follow your instincts?
Go with the classic rule, don't invest on anything you don't understand or convinced enough. I remember while watching a podcast of Mark Cuban he mentioned that the founder of Uber approached him to make investment while it was a start up but he didn't believe in it and moved on but later Uber became multi billion dollar business all around the world but still Mark Cuban didn't lost anything he just missed an opportunity while if we go with our instinct everytime we will go bankrupt.
1092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 100% win rate possible? on: June 30, 2023, 02:19:26 PM
While I was on section in my account, I was wondering if it is possible for someone to simply have a technique that gets them 100% - 98% win rates.

Knowing the game's pattern, what to bet on and what not to gamble on, the winning and losing numbers, and so on, would I still be able to achieve a 100% win rate?

If there is such technique then that Gambler will be the richest man in this planet and he can keep multiplying it just with s bet so the answer is no. Stop day dreaming and live in the reality. You can only predict the outcome with 100% accuracy if you time travel to future and see what happened then travel back into present unless there is no way.
1093  Economy / Gambling / Re: Impossible KYC Requirements - Stake.com - Withholding $6000 USD on: June 30, 2023, 06:53:02 AM
Hello,

I appreciate the support and interest in this topic. These posts rarely have a happy ending, so I don't expect one here, but I feel better having posted it. So that's worth something in itself.

I will now answer any specific questions people have posted
I will mention @Stunna here so he can tell what is actually wrong with your verification process.

It seems like language is a barrier but casino already received enough documents needed for the approval and if they still reject it then they should also give sn answer why they haven't accepted it.

Stake is not really going to scam $6K cause it's pretty small amount considering their standard in the cryptocurrency community.

Let's see is there any progress but you also can update about the issue in their Ann.
1094  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: My bitcoin transaction still unconfirmed after 20 hours , why? What can I do? on: June 30, 2023, 05:27:20 AM
I tried to transfer btc from blockchain wallet to a trust wallet but my blockchain wallet still shows Pending: 0/2 Confirmations after 20 hours passed..
Why it takes so long? What can I do?
This never happened me before.
Please help.

Current fees:

Fastest Fee: 27 sats/vbyte
HalfHour Fee: 22 sats/vbyte
Hour Fee: 16 sats/vbyte
Economy Fee: 12 sats/vbyte
Minimum Fee: 6 sats/vbyte

So you probably paid less fee than it required to get into the upcoming block so the transaction is getting delayed. All you can do is wait or try Bitcoin accelerator or else try CPFP, not sure it's possible in trust wallet and if not the import the address to Electrum wallet and bump your fee.
1095  Other / Meta / Re: "The user whose profile you're trying to view does not exist" on: June 29, 2023, 07:02:04 PM
Does anyone else's heart sink a bit when you see this message thinking somehow your profile got deleted in the latest update or something? Lol. When you leave your browser up on your desk or even just a tab open and it exits out from the forum automatically or just the browser stopped working because of inactivity and then you try to go back on and see that message and have to log back in. I know it can't just be me lmao
I always see that when I am entering bitcointalk on my mobile browser after few hours of inactivity, I just have to click the profile tab or if it's logged out I just have to log in. It never game me any feel that my account is in any kind of trouble cause I knew this can happen when we don't have active sessions.

But it never happened to me on desktops only on the mobile browser even when I checked always logged in mark.
1096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gospel Preachers: Is Bitcoin the Last Currency in the World? on: June 29, 2023, 05:20:39 PM
the Holy Bible says, time will come in the whole world that everyone will use ONE CURRENCY and anyone who refused to use that currency can not buy things in any store. And the way BITCOIN is, it is accepting by the whole world. And Bitcoin is growing step by step.

So far Bitcoin is accepted as legal tender in only El Salvador, and many countries completely banned the usage even holding of Bitcoin so I don't think that Bitcoin is the one which is mentioned by the Bible. We don't have to connect dots everything to the religious perspective and it's not even that clear cause it's only created by fellow humans after several centuries of Jesus birth.

The Taproot upgrade batches multiple signatures and transactions together, making it easier and faster to verify transactions on Bitcoin's network.
. So if you are using a 3-of-5 multi-sig (for example), instead of having to provide five public keys and three signatures which every other node has to verify, with Taproot you can provide a single public key and a single signature and every other node only has to verify this one signature.

I can understand that upgradation to Taproot address will make the transaction to get confirmed easier but how can we say it faster? Cause it has nothing to do with the block time intervals unless most transactions included into that block enabled Taproot so it will make the network confirmation faster than now.
1098  Economy / Reputation / Re: Tagging Accounts Sellers And Tagging Traded/Sold/Bought Accounts on: June 29, 2023, 05:46:02 AM
I like this unbiased move cause we can see there is some kind of relaxation towards the sold/bought accounts because they have some contribution to the community (basically they earned merits). But let's take the forum rule again "No plagiarism" and if someone did that they will get permanent ban, no excuse while on some exceptions they have been awarded a second chance by admin. So the same thing can be applied here or as DT community it has to be very strict?
1099  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Importance of Identifying Different Type of Bitcoin Address on: June 28, 2023, 10:01:13 PM
I am not that familiar with Taproot so thanks for pointing out this which helped me to do some research about Taproot and understand the concept of this upgrade. I never had Taproot address since it's not available all the wallets but can be useful for someone who expect more privacy and expect fast confirmation.

But anyone can help me to understand this better

1100  Other / Meta / Re: Is it allowed to post in English in a Local Section on: June 28, 2023, 08:23:56 PM
Recently I came across a query where I suggested that We cannot post in the "All English" language in a local board or it is not recommended at least.

Yes, i know that if the posts are a mixture of English & local language, then it is fine. Even if some posts are being done in pure English, they are ok but if a person has a post history where he only insists to speak in English on a local board, what do the rules of bitcointalk say in this regard?
It depends on the local board, for example if you post an English thread on Russian board which has something related to Russia then it's probably allowed and replying depends on whether other forum members of that local board can understand it or not.

But I wonder why someone who knows the English and communicate in English is going to post only in the local board when other members can't understand anything.
