1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GRIDCOIN Wallet problem on: May 03, 2014, 04:45:46 PM
Read over this tutorial, maybe you missed something. My wallet is working and synching fine, so I don't know what else to recommend.

Tut: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=403734.0

Frankly, this is just not a reasonable scheme, the only point was to cover some electricity costs of running BOINC, Im not trying to get rich.

So thanks to the forum, but I really cant be bothered.
1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GRIDCOIN Wallet problem on: May 03, 2014, 03:07:34 PM
make sure to delete the old blocks and chainstate folders in appdata/roaming/gridcoin!

also put  addnode=www.pgp.mx  to your gridcoin.conf

Alright, the upgrade command seems to have worked this time, im on the same version as you now:
v2.1.0.7-g71-prod

Still not syncing though
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GRIDCOIN Wallet problem on: May 03, 2014, 02:33:27 PM
I just upgraded mine with the "upgrade" command and my version is v2.1.0.7-g71-prod .

cpu mining now = false

First install was today so versions are:
Qt 4.8.5
Gridcoin v2.0.5.0-g71-prod

OK I found the Debug Console (total noob), but typing commands like upgrade seems to do nothing...?

On the Information Tab:
Network = blank
Number of connections = 0

I checked windows firewall and there are inbound allowed rules, rules also existing in Norton 360 firewall allowed, tried turning firewalls off = no effect.

1104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GRIDCOIN Wallet problem on: May 03, 2014, 12:26:30 PM
cpumining is currently being redesigned, so that should be "false". Use the "upgrade" command in console to get latest version. What version are you running right now?

Hi so I have been using BOINC for many years and I just saw the GRIDcoin effort and I want to join in.

I followed the instructions but the wallet will not sync, it just wont.

Here is my gridcoin.conf file (username and password obscured):

rpcpassword=xxx
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=9332

Can anyone help?
1105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: April 30, 2014, 01:47:13 PM
Once the new cpu mining with POB(proof of boinc) is released things will get very interesting.

I'm now involved in helping a few coins emerging, and we talk about serious projects and not pump and dumps.

I'm huge fan of GRC, I just think it needs a bigger team where there are some news every day, wallet development receives updates daily and there are precise ETAs.

There are many coins out there, but to get people interested is not enough to get a revolutionary idea (GRC it is such for me), people need to see that there's a full time team of several people able to guarantee prompt updates, new implementations, support, constant new projects, and a PR team actively pushing all this on socials, engaging people etc.

Both on Twitter and on IRC that's the main complaint I receive. Once GRC will have more devs implementing in a few days all the long due updates to wallet and mining software, for all platforms and in an easy way, then it will explode and I agree could be the future of PoW coins.

If not clear, I'm not only investor in GRC holding a big amount, but I genuinely think is one of the best ideas for a coin, if not THE best Smiley
1106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: April 30, 2014, 12:59:22 PM
Most people are more interested in the latest pump and dump coin!

Is there a whitepaper somewhere?
I think the future of PoW-crypto lies in BOINC and BOINC-like functions, I'm surprised there is so little interest in this...

I know this is not related to Darkcoin, but it is very important. This petition is for Avaaz, which is a very large and popular grass-roots activist/petition site.
If they accept Bitcoin it will be very important for all cryptocurrencies going forward.

Now is your chance to sign the petition:

Maybe reddit might help!

Probably just needs more press PR or something to get it rolling
Half the battle is getting information out
1109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: April 28, 2014, 05:50:00 PM
Can the blackcard still be ordered? I have to admit they look pretty cool.
1110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: April 28, 2014, 01:04:04 PM
For that to work you need a fixed exchange, not floating. Floating exchange rate in an illiquid market like crypto is a big issue.

We are Blackcoin!! Resistance is Futile.

The possibilities are endless with Blackcoin. but today id like to talk about 1 possibility in particular, which i see as the goal of all cryptocoins, but only blackcoin has what it takes to achieve it. Because of Blackcoin's POS feature and that the POW mining stage has been complete. blackcoin is essentially a true stock item. shares are limited and the market is large which tells investors that what we have here can be classified as "a product". but what's this vision? ill get straight to it..

what would happen if we acquired enough merchants around the world to accept blackcoin in such a way that all of our daily requirements could be met with locations that accept blackcoin? groceries, meds, car parts and accessories, restaurants and outlets, books, clothing, farming and dairy products, electronics, furniture, travel and hotels.. the works. would there be any need for fiat? by bringing usd into blackcoin but not taking it back out (since there is no need to) essentially gives the cryptocurrency worth. cashing out removes value from crypto. and i believe it is the goal of every well-meaning cryptocoin and it's community to gain wider acceptance for the very purpose of being used in commerce. otherwise, crypto is just an intangible collector's item. but so is not the case with blackcoin. already forging ahead to be accepted by a wide range of merchants it is that we have a tangible product in our hands.

if we could structure a community and group of merchants in such a way that even the merchants can get their supplies from blackcoin accepting distributors and create a closed loop of currency circulation.. we would essentially have an effective money system which admittedly was originally pumped by fiat. as we move away from bitcoin-pegging, demonstrating independent trading of bitcoin's rises and falls on the graph, many are realizing as investors, they dont have to follow bitcoin's value if they have a 'real product'. if bitcoin's value falls by 50% then all traders do have the right to double the price of their own stock to compensate. and therein lies the vision.

the idea is to begin a "NEVER-SELL" campaign. yes.. we are never going to sell the blackcoins we buy. not for fiat, btc or for any other alt. only to trade for products and services in the real world. get as much as you need and can hold longterm and up-trade the rest with your extra btc/fiat as many wont read this post or choose not to take part in this campaign. what will happen as new investors come on board over time together with the multipool investors? the day-traders get left behind and have to begin trading at higher levels. then we are left with a community of believers owning the coin at $20 each.. and we're still not selling. from there we can set each new buy at a higher price than the previous and take the stock value to $1000 each.. and even at that price.. never cashout. just keep it like a bank and use it among the community for everything. this will ensure that even the distributors can enjoy higher value when they go to use the blackcoin they received as payments for their everyday expenses etc.

please feel free to let me know what you think about this idea/vision for cryptocurrency. if encouraged i will get to work on formulating this closed loop economic system to be used with blackcoin. i could take a list of categories that blackcoin users would like to use their blackcoins for. and see if i can map out a worldwide network of.. Trade. based on supply and demand.. if ud like please post what you'd like to use your blackcoins for in the real world. i personally dont see why we shouldnt start tackling this early.

You are right in many respects, but look at what happened in 2008. The entire world was swindled by the scammers on Wall st and Washington politicians. Also nobody was complaining when housing was going up every month, everyone was more than happy to take out loans against their house to buy new cars and tv. The entire world is built on BS and Fraud. What you see here is just a reflection of the real world. You can't fix it!!!!

since we all know the people of Iceland are not going to redeem their coins it's a massive cash grab nothing more.
imagine having a whole country full of pm's at Bitcoin talk requesting their coins they are entitled to lol

bottom line is a premine is unbelievably valuable .. having millions or in AUR's case 50% of all coins that could ever be mined on launch day
means those coins are worth far more that $14.50 each and the coin cloner now has the ability to play with them behind closed doors..
he can flip them and make a million dollars and still in the end have the coins needed to hand out to any kickbacks, bounties etc.

it blows me away how people support and defend this crap while the coin cloner sits in silence with their feet up relaxing sipping a martinee
while squacky little pukes do the work for them defending their scam coin so they can make 1 bitcoin while the coin cloner make 1,000..
and he can then pick a new country and and new forum name and Bictointalk does nothing, Cryptsy add's the coin, pools ops fumble over each other to set up pools
and loser douche bag flash miners scream take my money and brag about their lambo's after scamming people later..
remember every Ponzi scheme has losers on the bottom of the pyramid scheme.. it's how they work.

It's not politics it's a technique / angle used for setting up a pyramid scheme.

You all permit this behavior and condone it and aid it.
You provide the forum's etc for them to post them and you provide the exchanges and the mining hash power.
These scams could not get off the ground if it wasn't for all of you jumping in head first and playing dumb about it.

Welcome to crypto ..check your morals at the door.

drain all the noobs that come here dry as fast and as hard as you can and see what it gets you dipshits (flash miners, pool op's, exchanges etc)
what will happen is clear.. even if you choose to play dumb
and that is the world will grow more and more disgusted and go to greater lengths to stop all this.
You will also disgust people so badly that new users slow to a crawl and existing users will grow tired of a community made up almost entirely
of masked shadowy name changing coin cloners who saturate the market with pyramid scheme coin clones.
I have witnessed and made a hobby out of watching the reaction of crypto on media outlets across the world from Local to world news to various new web sites
and the overall perception of Bitcoin itself is bad a year or two ago people thought it was a Ponzi scheme and since it's gotten worse.
If you don't believe me i can go grab a dozen random examples and show you quotes proving my point.

One year ago i seen this forum and what was happening over all and i was disgusted and i was so sickened by the scene i had serious doubts i wanted to get involved at all.
what are people going to think now ?

You guys know who you are and you know what your doing is wrong and you need to smarten the fuck up and quit playing dumb.

Politics has nothing to do with it sorry.. none of us care about Liberals or Democrats or what ever lol
All that shit is is stereo typing.. people have views that can span both parties so pigeon holing someone with a label as one or the other is dumb and probably inaccurate.

suck em dry while you can scammers.. the cash cow will dry out soon enough

This is a very interesting discussion on the Gridcoin reddit page about the commercial applications of Boinc like 3D rendering and modeling and how Gridcoin can apply itself. I think there is huge potential there for Gridcoin to get involved in. Imagine team Gridcoin rendering entire 3D films, how cool would that be!

Darkcoin already overtook Blackcoin on coinmarketcap and in daily trading volume on mintal. At this point I am not sure what Blackcoin can do. I still hold some BC myself because I like the 10 sec transaction times, but I gotta be honest it looks like things are stagnating for BC! If the multipool adds x11 coins that will be a big boost I think.

IconicExpert was right.

WE need a pump to get out of this shit mess we're in. You guys might not see the big picture, or are blind to care. But long term we are going down. 2 weeks ago we were trading around 50K, last week it was 40K, and now we are happy if we can reliably break 30K.

Many people are getting desparate, because they see their investment shrinking by the hour/day, some of them have bought at high values, not everyone here is an expert in trading. These people will start to panic, and then dump, at whatever price they can so they can at least get a little of their money back. This has happend with Aurora, dogecoin, and every other coin on the market. The coin might go up in the very long term, but look at dogecoin, it was 298, and right now, a good pump to 140 is all they could do. Too many people have stopped trusting Dogecoin as their store of value, so they sell at whatever price they can. Sooner or latter the price will go below 95. A dump was done to 87 before the pump, so without the pump, right now, dogecoin would be trading at roughly 70-65 satoshi which is 4 times lower than their peak.

The same thing will happen to blackcoin. Without good pumps to move markets and create large disparities, many people will dump, the smart ones will day trading this like no tomorrow, heck i'm buying at 23-24-25 and selling at 28-29-30. Every fucking day. And what i am doing, many other people are doing right now. Its good money, but its keeping the price down because buyers that want to hold, are holding, but then a week or 2 goes by and they see that their investment is worth the same ammount of money , (or less) and they dump, and the cycle repeats itself, until people are so upset at this coin that nobody will buy, and the buy pressure will slow down while the sell pressure will increase.

Multipool was down, it had 6ghs, not it can barely go above 1.5Ghs reliably. so dont expect the multipool to hold this coin at a steady value, the only thing the multipool can do is try to hold the price and slow its descent. Also do you think that all the miners on the multipool are holding their coins, I can bet you that half of them are dumpimg them at the daily peak to recover their money for electricity and shit. Thats why the pool went down so much. its not profitable anymore to mine on the blackcoin multipool, compared to other alternatives.

Yes there are some people that hold their coins, true. But not everyone is doing that, and even those that held their coins a lot are starting to have doubts about the future of blackcoin. Remember that most of us care about the price, very few of us care about cryptocurrency being the future, or whatever other hippy leftist bullshit crypto symbolises. Most are here to make profits, and convert said profit into either USD/EUR Stocks/Bonds or Gold/Silver. Worst case scenario they are converting into Bitcoin/Litcoin.

If you want people to be happy, and hold bc, bc value has to grow, if it goes 1% every day, most people are happy, but if it goes down week after week by 20-30%, then people are not happy and most of them are going to dump.

Thats why a pump is good, it symbolizes revitalization in the coin, may create a higher price floor, (and not many will sell at loss, if after htis pump, in 2-3 weeks another pump happens), people that are holding are happy to see their investment is growing, daytraders make profits, everyone is more or less happy.

I think the masternodes network will make Darkcoin into something truly unique. Running a masternode will provide even more incentive for people to invest in Darkcoin on top of the privacy aspect. I think the sky is the limit with regards to price.

I dont understand why people keep using the words "pump" and "dump" in the context of Darkcoin.  The price increase is the correction. This coin was undervalued for a long time. It was like there were Ferraris for sale at 1K for a long time, some people were able to recognize that.  Now the Ferraris are going for 10K, it is still incredibly cheap.  So just buy what you can while you can, sure there will be minor corrections along the way, but it wont really go down to previous levels, BECAUSE THE VALUE WAS ALWAYS THERE, you just needed to see.  And the people that know what they have in their hands wont sell it for cheap anymore. The cat is out of the bag, and a 5USD DRK is still bloody cheap.
