1181  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica please check the security practice of the cold storage. on: July 13, 2012, 05:36:58 PM
they should open their doors and start trading bitcoin again and make some money again.. but increase security 1000%.  Someone figure it out, you guys have lost so much money, how could you possibly pay people back if you've lost it all and there's no business taking place?

Who would be stupid enough to deposit new funds there now?  I mean I know bitcoin users are often hard headed but I have to think the 5th hack/theft/fraud is finally enough for the idea to soak in.
naaaa, i thust them more now, because now they have learned what security is. Cheesy LOL!!!
1182  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER TAG: bitoinica on: July 13, 2012, 05:32:46 PM
I'm waiting for refunding my 64.01 btc and it maters much to me... but a scammer-tag? for what...
damage their reputation, so no one will ever deal with them again, and they will die old sad and lonely...

i also would have suggest that their should have their balls cut off, so their could not reproduce. but i think its illegal.
1183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 13, 2012, 05:25:30 PM
It would appear that a lot of misinformation has circulated since the date of my last post. Considering the many inconsistencies, I will assume astute readers here have already discounted the versions of facts presented by the Consultancy.

Since some of the story-telling is directed at me personally I wish to make a few things clear. I had no responsibility for Bitcoinica security ever. That would certainly be an improper role for me. I am not a security expert, nor have I ever claimed to be. My role was to oversee the investment in Bitcoinica and help facilitate the transfer to new management.

The Consultancy members accepted that responsibility on April 24 as operators and General Partners of Bitcoinica LP. There is ample written documentation to confirm this.

Upon closing of that transaction, login credentials for all services were handed off to the Consultancy in person. All credentials were encrypted by a reputable password management service. I claim no expertise to judge the security of the master password but it was very long. Its status as a master password and its use in all respects were fully understood by the Consultancy upon acceptance.

If the Consultancy deemed this password to be unfit for ongoing use, they certainly had the opportunity and the duty to change it. Their reputation and claims of being security experts was a primary consideration for entrusting them with Bitcoinica's management.

There are still a lot of unknowns surrounding recent events but the Consultancy's responsibility for Bitcoinica and its password security is not one of them. The fund will be considering all legal options.
would you please post here more offen? i would be good, the intersango/bitcoin consultancy/bitcoinica consultancy people, seems not to know shit about anything, and they are really good at fucking up PR...

also they said that you was fired? is it true? or just another lie from them?
1184  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER TAG: bitoinica on: July 13, 2012, 05:11:09 PM
should i remove Zhou, from the post? i seems innocent, and even trying to pay people back with his own funds. but he still could be the inside person, because he have intimate knowlegde of the system... or be somehow related to the mess.

what to do?

Ah yes, the primal need to have a scapegoat. It's weird how the poor people with the fewest lost coins are the loudest and most assholish in general, whereas the ones that have lost the most (such as Roger) are at least somewhat civil and polite.
you may be right, but that would be because if you don't have much too loose you can afford to be straight out. On the other hand if you do have much too loose you gonna be careful on what to say.
excacly! i have already given up on my 40 btc, but it would be nice to have them back(i don't really have alot of money)

@rjk: fuck you, that 40 btc is more then i have in my bank account, im a poor student, asshole! Roger would survive his losses.

o.0 the whiny little kids come out to play. Who didn't follow the #1 rule of investment "Don't play with funds you can't afford to loose!"
im perfectly capable of dealing with losses. i had a stop order. but i kind of expected that i would have access to my money.

and no im not whining, i have accepted my loss(but it would still be a great to have them back), because of the fuck up they made, and i hope that the community will never ever trust them again.

it is my right to be angry of their incompetence.

1190  Economy / Scam Accusations / SCAMMER TAG: bitoinica on: July 13, 2012, 04:11:55 PM
bitcoinica still owes me 40 btc, im one of the lucky ones i got 50% . the lasted hack seemed like a inside job(and it the rest of the catastrophe could be too). im now suggesting a scammer tag of all persons related to bitcoinica(genjix, phantomcircut, zhou, donald...), at least until they have payed us back at least 100%.

i would suggest that you post all the evidence you have against them in this thread so that the mods can make an informed oppinion about the suggested scammer tag(that was what BadBear said we should). it would also be good to have all the evidence in one place, if(WHEN!!!) authorities gets involved.

also plese put in your sigs how much bitcoinica owes you if you like(see my sig).
1191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To all the Litecoin haters, trolls and twats on: July 12, 2012, 08:00:14 PM
i agrees with Vladimir, im no litecoin hater, but i think that litecoin is irrelevant.

litecoin brings nothing ground breaking new to cryptocurrencies, and bitcoin have a much larger userbase then litecoin. namecoin is different then litecoin, as it brings something redically new: a distributed dns-like system. thats why namecoin might survive and litecoin will not. a namecoin clone that was cpu-mined and infaltonary, would also not survive, becuase we already have namecoin. if the namecoin clone came first, it would be that one that would survive.

one of the good thing with alt-chains, is that they are experimental, and they serves as a testing ground for new features(cpu-mining, 10s-blocks, infaltion/deflation, ...) for cryptocurrencies. but sadly that will all die at some point, because there are no need for them.

conclusion:
litecoin is late to the party. sorry mates.

Just received 40% of my claim amount, I guess they reserved(or sold?) some BTC for the lose of my long position.
Sorry, I have to repeat my question:
Quote
Hi genjix/phantomcircuit,
The base price of my long position is higher than 5.1 and my USD balance is zero, so will you sell my BTC to cover the lose of my long position? @what price? Thanks.

he have answerd that:
longs will be closed at 5.10
shorts will be closed at 4.90
which means if you buyed 10 bitcoin at 6.0, they are going to be sold at 5.1 (ie. you lose money.)

No, I have no issue with the closing long position at 5.1(although I prefer a higher price) but they have no right to sell my BTCs at any price without my authorization
yes they do. if you owe(sic!) them money, they may take some of your btc and sell them.

maybe you should talk to them privately to sort things out... instead of over the forum.

No, they still owe me money.
i know! but you owe them too, if they closed that position, and you have no usd.
if you had some of there stuff, you could sell it to get back some of the money that they owe you.

That's why I ask them at what price they will sell my BTCs to cover the lose, sell @5.1 is not acceptable. I can deposit USD to cover the lose after I get back all my BTC.
try contact them privatly(pm, irc, email, snailmail, meeting in person)!

Question: In this form of arbitration can there be "class action" type decisions?

Can anykind of group be represented in a process?

If yes, then it is theorethically possible to form such group as: Beneficiaries of Amazon Forests, and go forth from this...

For me, this question boils down to the problem of commons in general, and how commons can be handled in arbitration in particular.
From a rational point of view it is the best strategy for even an individual in the tragedy of commons situation to think twice about starting a cascade which kills his own cettle also. (Thus making long trm profitability impossible for the sake of short term realized profit...)

Just thinkin (yet not too deeply)...

Of course.  Any arbitrator will want to maximise his revenue so will encourage class action disputes.  If your landing helicopters on your property makes mine less desirable to live in, I can get together my my neighbours and petition you to stop.  If you ignore it, we have to go to arbitration.
so you are going to force me to do something? again: fuck you!

1198  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Defending the NAP: Resource Scarcity and Environmental Issues on: July 08, 2012, 11:03:27 AM
I have.  All disputes are resolved by arbitration with a set of standards called "market law" that is well published but it is not binding.  There is no authority imposing any rules - its all down to what parties work out between themselves and what arbitrators impose after disputes.

Hmm. While I disagree with the philosophical basis for this, I find no fault in the logic. However, since you did stipulate that "everything is owned", I assume that those published standards do include respect for the property rights of one another?

Every arbitration decision that is public has been gathered together and made available on a website.  OF course people always to to the website before they go to arbitration as that saves them the cost of an arbitrator.

Sheesh, does no-one want to actually pursue the topic?
some form of governement webside, yes? are you sure its a anarchy you are talking about?

(warning: trolling might be included in the post)
