Best to talk to runpaint.....he's become a serious Nxt enthusiast over the last couple of months, and BARR is the result.
It's not the worlds most serious crypto project, but it is a good idea: clean up and consolidate all the shitcoins onto one blockchain.
Not sure how well it'll work, but runpaint is pretty dedicated, so it could be fun.

Best way to avoid problems; do your research, whether it's Nxt, BARR or Banx.
Scams are usually pretty easy to spot: just ask a critical question and see what the response is.
Just look at how Banx handled questions: complete denial, followed by lies and intimidation.
That told us everything about the project, for a few minutes work.

On Banx being allowed in BARR: again, ask RP, but I can see two problems: most of the BanxShares are held by Banx, and they don't seem to have any proper wallet software.
That is one problem with BARR, btw, while the idea is to give bagholders a way out, BARR could end up being exploited by the dodgy serial shitcoin devs that have left a trail of bagholders behind them.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poll result: NXT is a proper cryptocurrency on: October 27, 2015, 08:51:48 AM

You seem very upset about NXT being made obsolete by ETH, rootstock.io, Bitshares, and others.

Why is that?

Is it because you invested more than you can afford to lose in NXT and its shitty derivative scam-assets?

I recommend you sell now, while there is still an "impressive" 50 BTC in bids at Poloniex.

If you do not, I will be here to remind you what a foolish course of action getting married to your NXT bag was.

Sorry, iCE...do some research. None of the above are in direct competition with Nxt.
(well, there is some overlap, but not enough to be relevant. We are going to see a future with multiple blockchains, get used to it)

Thanks, everyone.

Just to share the view with you lot:

https://nxtportal.org/accounts/10124938546868029479

Thanks again to everyone who donated.
(and the total was 168 NXT less than in the screeny, already had some NXT on the account)

(and stop minging on the price. NXT fell, which sucked. BTC rose, which is good. Like to see both on the up, but ya can't have everything)
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT Launches Marketing Project, Codenamed “Project Tennessee” on: October 27, 2015, 12:26:44 AM
Need to point out that having a  $70,000 marketing/PR budget is a hell of a lot more than Nxt has ever had available to spend on marketing. It's about 3 times what the marketing budget was on launch, so I reckon it'll make a difference.  Grin
Having two useful guys actually employed by the Nxt community , even part-time (in theory) will also be a very good thing.

Here's my latest post from www.nxtforum.org :

Quote from: EvilDave
Exciting times...we are currently 36 blocks away from block 554,000, when TNSSE becomes a reality,  and we have 101.46% of the funding total.
The actual number of NXT raised right now is : 10,145,747

We'd like to say 'thank you very, very much' to everyone who has contributed to the success of the Tennessee fundraiser, and that means pretty much all of the Nxt community. Thanks, guys and girls, we're seriously, really impressed by this vote of confidence.  Grin

Now: on to business. This fundraiser is only the first step of  a year long process, so we have a lot to cover.

Firstly:
50% of the TNSSE funds are intended to provide a (part-time) salary to myself and Damelon. (though part-time is probably going to be a complete lie, tbh)
The salaries will be paid out in NXT, in advance, every 3 months. This means that the TNSSE year will run from 1 Nov 2015 through to 31 Oct 2016, and our first salary payment (of 625,000 NXT per person) will go out to our accounts this week.
(and yeah, this gives me and Damelon 208,000 NXT per month each or $1400 before taxes).
Yay...Lambo time  Angry  Stupid NXT price.

Skipping the complaining......the remaining 3,750,000 for our salaries will be deposited with a trustworthy person, probably one of the current CFC treasurers, and held by them until the payout times (which will be 1 Feb 2016, 1 May 2016 and 1 August 2016).

For the remaining 5 million + change:  that will be held by myself and Damelon equally to be used as needed.

As with the CFC, we'll be aiming to get maximum value for money from this fund, so we won't start throwing NXT around until we have a good use for it.
Our priority over the next couple of weeks will be to create the framework that we need to get Tennessee moving forward, so don't expect miracles immediately.
That will take a little longer.......  Shocked

The most likely expalnation is that your passphrase has got messed up  in some way, which means that you are logging into a different account than intended.
How are you storing the passphrase ? Did you double check access to the account before you transferred the NXT on to it ?

Word, for example,  is notorious for glitching stored passphrases.
If it is in Word...try c/p into Notepad, make sure that you haven't got an extra space or enter sneaking in.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poll result: NXT is a proper cryptocurrency on: October 26, 2015, 09:19:38 PM
The problem with aiming purely at merchant adoption is that almost no-one uses crypto-currency to buy legal stuff....just ask Overstock.

The Tennessee marketing campaign is going to be aimed at getting real (or at least non-scammy  Wink ) businesses on to the Nxt blockchain.
These businesses can then concentrate on marketing their services (and indirectly Nxt) to their customers.
Simply marketing Nxt as Nxt to end-users directly makes little sense right now.

We've just helped to set up a mini-crypto economy on a small Greek island:
https://www.zapchain.com/a/l/islanders-of-agistri-test-pilot-the-drachmae-digital-ecosystem-and-digital-money-nautiluscoin/
And what did we learn : most people are not ready for full-on crypto use.
Drachmae even took the entire blockchain and client issue out, by using an SMS based transfer system, but even that was too complex for some people.

I'm not saying that we will never see widespread crypto adoption by the average Joe....but we have a long way to go, and I reckon that aiming at the business market is a better strategy right now.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LottoShares - Dice 0% Edge - 80LTS Airdrop to all DOGE owners on: October 26, 2015, 08:01:59 PM
At least the author of article have advertised it:
It should also be noted that LottoShares lottery has nothing common, except the name, with the LottoShares (LTS) altcoin that was abandoned in 2014.

However the fact of use the same name is really a bad idea, Another example the nxt clon: the Liberty Reserved coin.

Liberty Reserved does look dodgy, but at least no-one seems to be falling for it.
The new LottoShares looks incredibly dodgy, and it's from the same team that brought you Banx....
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1181883.0

Have fun.

We just crossed

100%!!!

Thanks to a straight reserve by account NXT-26R5-5SV8-GGEC-26BSH

Thank you all so much!

What a community, that is so generous.

I am going to sit down for a bit now.

Donations are still possible and welcome, but Tennessee has made it!  Grin Grin

Congrats to all NXTers, especially those who tirelessly work on these projects

Thanks, guys and girls, it's been a really exciting (and humbling) few days for us.....the vote of confidence that the Nxt community has given Tennessee is truly amazing.
So, onwards and upwards.....

But let's not forget, there is still a lot of hard work to do.....in addition to marketing, Tennessee will also help to develop a range of client software for Nxt core (apps, lite clients, webwallets, possibly a customisable NRS client) and will give Nxt-based projects an incubator system to help keep them on-track and delivering.
Lots of good stuff coming up, in any case.   Grin
Thanks again.
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A proposal for Nxt marketing, promotion and development - over 12 Month on: October 25, 2015, 12:15:57 PM
Thanks, jabo. Good post.

Addressing your 2 points: the left brain/right brain analogy works for me. We are still (being honest again) figuring out exactly how to create an effective marketing/PR department for a de-centralised organisation, but that's a good way to look at it. Tennessse is being set up with the approval of the core dev team, and we are going to be working closely with them, so TNSSE will be the de facto 'official' marketing department for the Nxt core.

We are using Nxt Monetary System as a crowdfunding system for a couple of reasons: Firstly; the MS tech allows us to accept donations to a target point, which is cool: if TNSSE doesnt hit the 10 million Nxt target, all funds will automatically be refunded. This gives security to the donators.
Secondly, we are using our experiences with running the Tennessee crowdfunding on MS to create a comprehensive usecase for 'Crowdfunding via Nxt MS', which will be used as part of the upcoming marketing campaign and Nxt documentation.  We've also turned up a couple of small bugs/things to improve with MS during the process.
Lastly: every donator to the Tennessee project recieves TNSSE currency tokens, which will allow us to invite our backers to vote, or to allow them participate in any (very theoretical) profit sharing as a result of any income from TNSSE. There will no doubt be other uses for the TNSSE currency as we go forward, but it's basically a way to keep donators 'in the loop' with the project.

Tennessee had a fairly huge donation yesterday, so it looks that we will hit the funding mark at the deadline: block 554,000, around 30 hours from now:

131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poll result: NXT is a proper cryptocurrency on: October 24, 2015, 10:44:33 PM
Distribution is a never-ending process. Imagine that all 73 initial holders were friends of the coin creator. We can move zero point to the moment when they got their coins and started distributing them to the others. What does it change? Nothing. It's the same as if the creator makes distribution from 73 genesis accounts instead of 1. The only difference is "perception" problem of those whose IQ is not high enough to get all this. The topic of Nxt distribution is a good litmus test, it allows to distinguish between normal people and people with low intelligence if we has already removed trolls from the set.

It's one thing to have a person distributing all the coins to himself and then trying to convince you that the 70M+ marketcap you see in coinmarketcap is "fair" and it's slighlty different if he tries to make a distribution to 73 people sound fair (he has slightly more chances to convince you that the 70M+ marketcap is "fair")

So, the only problem I see is the posible intentions of the creator and friends, they created an illution of "free market" while they were just controlling the "supply" and consequently the price, they wanted to sell their "premined coins" at 20/50/70+ Million dollars marketcap and that's what they did. In my oppinion the real distribution of NXT started on the exchanges at manipulated prices.

What happened belongs in the past and the only questions I would ask myself are: if creator and friends did what is rumored they did, will they try to do something similar in the future? are those people still around? how can we be sure?

Having said that, I have also to say that there are probably a lot of people that work really hard in order to make NXT a success and have nothing to do with the above.

I've looked at the NXT distribution very hard over the last 2 years.....had to, I needed to know if the allegations against Nxt were true before I stepped in.
IMHO: the initial distribution was (possibly) flawed, but it was completely fair. I've had contact with almost all of the large NXT stakeholders (the 8 who all donated 1 BTC each, giving them 50 million NXT), and there is no sign of a conspiracy, anything in common or even much contact between them....we've even had 2 of these guys step out of Nxt in a 'blaze of glory' and neither of these defectors (if I can call them that Wink ) had any conspiracy to report.
I've also spoken with dozens of smaller stakeholders...same story.

There is no hidden puppetmaster or grand conspiracy behind Nxt, sorry.
Use Occams Razor on this:
Which is more likely: that Nxt is an elaborate scam that is so incredibly well-thought out and executed that there is absolutely no evidence available, even after 2 years,
or that Nxt is precisely what it says on the box; a genuine, and very effective, 2nd generation crypto-currency ?

BTW: if anyone wants to check out the NXT distribution, here's a relatively current top 500:

Yay! We just hit the 4 million NAUT mark: 4,004,694 to be precise.

Makes more sense as a 'fat finger' incident than a pump, IMHO.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Debate? NXT Votes Unanimously to Add Coin Mixing Anonymity on: October 21, 2015, 11:16:55 PM
Meh...I'm not exactly a massive Keiser fan.....or spent much time on him, tbh.
The speech he gave at the conference was the most I've ever seen of him in action.
He talks sense, mostly, but tends to go off on one...... Grin

Anyhow, don't read too much into it, Marc de Mesel could probably get the Pope to say nice things about NXT during a ride in the Lambo.

Oh, yeah...on the solidity of NXT.
Not thinking too much about short-term price (which sucks  Sad), but looking at everything I can see going on in Nxt: I'm almost happy.
There's a plan (almost) in place to deal with the weaknesses of Nxt as a project:
http://www.cryptocoinupdates.com/bitcoin-alternative-nxt-announces-coordinated-marketing-project-codenamed-project-tennessee/
Nxt marketing will get (semi)-organised and more professional, Nxt gets some actual average user-friendly client software and external projects will have an incubator structure to keep them on the path to delivery.

You're not wrong on the volume, btw, but the current volume is better than a few months ago.
Still not great, though, you can't regard any market-listed currency/stock as being liquid until you're seeing a 1% daily trade volume.
Nxt is still off that by a long way...... Cry

Here's me giving BTS grief on the TPS issue:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1084460.msg12620412#msg12620412

Some useful information contained there....looks to me like BTS are throwing security and stability out the window to get close to the 100,000 TPS they've been hyping, though it turns out that the 100,000 TPS figure is based on running a lab benchmark, and will only be achievable in the real world on next-genreration hardware and infrastructure. Shocked

@rdnkjdi: Yeps, that's Emunie, which has been in development for a very, very long time.
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Debate? NXT Votes Unanimously to Add Coin Mixing Anonymity on: October 21, 2015, 10:15:07 AM

Could you possibly find the time to hunt out your nxt.log file and send it over ?
You can give it to this brave messenger, and we'd very much appreciate you not sending him back using a catapult this time.......oh most merciful ruler of the plains...etc...etc
 Grin

Yes I would actually be grateful if you took a look at it. I know the word "Evil" is in your name but I trust the log doesn't have private information in it. I'll send you a PM when I get a chance to tomfool around.

There are truths to my words whether you want to accept them or not. Sure, it could just be me. But then why is the price of NXT sinking like a flaming ball of fat out of a trebuchet upon heathens clustered in a castle?

one of the last original investors is cashing out in a violent way.  They have about 7.5 million NXT left to dump (3.5MM in assets and 4MM in NXT).

Good time to pick some up cheap.

When the original investors are cashing out...it is not the best time to buy.

Never is it.

Max Kesier was helping him pump NXT in that ferarri video or whatever saying "I like NXT at these levels"...that was a huge red flag for me to stay the fuck away for now until the price truly bottoms.

Saying "I like NXT at these levels" is a bait and switch statement to give you confidence that this is a cheap place to buy for now but really they are just pumping the price to dump on to suckers.

Pretty simply just that.

Hmmm....your post has a few inaccuracies, S.
First off....the current dump is, as far as I can see, the last big original stakeholder cashout. Last time I looked, he/she/whatever only had 2 millon NXT (+some assets) left from an original 50 million. If this is the end of the NXT distribution from big stakeholders, we should see price recovery.
But who knows, not many guarantees in crypto, particularly these days.

Your personal feelings on Max Keiser......fine by me. But you are seeing shadowy conspiracies where none exist.
We just grabbed Max at a conference, stuffed him in Marc's Lambo and rolled the camera. No pumping intended.....obviously, if Max had said that Nxt was a pile of pooh, Marc probably wouldn't have posted the video, but what you're seing here is purely MK's spontaneous opinion, no more, no less.  Take it how you like.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDgnmbd9ZzY

Not everything is a complex conspiracy: Nxt is simply a solid, legitimate project, with a shedload of good tech, and we're in this for the long term.

I'm doubting the usefullness of a coin/asset creation app on mobile devices,
but what the hell, I have a soft spot for Counterparty, they look like a pretty genuine project.

It's good to have some competition.
So, nice one, guys, onwards and upwards...!
