121  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Pardons on: January 18, 2021, 11:14:42 PM
I would imagine, given what we see of his personality, that Trump will only pardon those he thinks will be able to return the favour somewhere down the line.

Or he could pardon Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, etc so that he could claim that (a) they're criminals and (b) it's very ungrateful of them to proceed with the impeachment anyway.

Yes, I've been reading too many BADecker's posts.

LOL.

....

Yes, I've been reading too many BADecker's posts.

Well you have to admit, how else would we keep up with the in vogue lunatic fringe website links and latest hair brained comical conspiracy theories?

Back on topic...

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/17/us/politics/trump-pardons.html

Going to be pardon frenzy tomorrow, news is saying 50-100+ names could be pardoned, commuted, etc tomorrow. Curious on what friends / family of Trump is going to end up being on the list.

Sad thing is that it seems like Edward Snowden isn’t going to be getting a pardon — that’s the only person that Bill Barr preemptively tried to stop - (Here’s the report on it) - https://twitter.com/lachlan/status/1351239845889323014?s=10

Hopefully we’ll see some good names on the list instead of just friends and family. Then again though, usually the list at the end only includes friends/family.
122  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NYC renters owe landlords owe more then $1 Billion in unpaid rent on: January 18, 2021, 10:20:19 PM
In addition to the numbers franky1 posted, how many people are not paying because they don't have to?
No evictions, no penalties, etc. So you stick the money into a savings account and then sit on it making some interest till you have to pay.
And if something else bad does happen, then you have the money in the bank. Because you know the landlord isn't going to give it back.

-Dave

Pretty fair reason for some people to not pay, though I’d think that your own morals would get in the way for some people to not pay their landlord, especially if the landlord is a regular person just like you who just owns another piece of property as a supplement of their income (or if they’re retired or something along those lines)

It’d be a lot easier to ignore a big management company with hundreds of apartments and tell them to pound sand. But not as easy to ignore the retired guy who you know relies on this money.

Guess we’ll see what the solution is for all of this.

Article out of the WSJ - https://www.wsj.com/articles/new-york-city-renters-owe-more-than-1-billion-in-unpaid-rent-survey-finds-11610622000

Pretty astounding figure to think about, though it makes sense given the amount of people in NYC that aren’t able to work due to restrictions placed around ensuring that the spread of COVID is lessened. Shows that even though there is tons of money coming from Fed unemploymnet, stimulus payments, and so on and so forth — it’s not enough to get people to handle everything and pay their rent.

Officials from the city are seeking another $1-2B to handle rental assistance for all of these people. Curious on what people think about all of this

The stimulus payments don't stimulate anything - most people probably use it to pay debts.  The government should instead be taking that money and building things - putting people to work.

$2 billion just for NYC?   Wow.  Short of running a ponzi for Chinese people and using the scam to bail out US landlords, what can be done?   Forgive the rent?  Landlords lose.   Forgive the mortgage?  Banks lose.

Meanwhile, Powerball is at $620,000.000.  Not sure what can be done here.  :/

The overall goal for stimulus money is to stimulate the economy, though how good it works is totally something that is up for discussion. I’d say a good amount of stimulus money went straight to debts, investing, and other things that don’t have much velocity of money.

Yeah there’s really no good way to fix this rental assistance market - Best bet is probably a program to just straight up pay the landlords — though there has already been some money allocated to states for this through some sort of federal rental assistance program.
124  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is the next communist industry? Go back go Climate change, or medical? on: January 14, 2021, 09:07:56 PM
LOL.

Not sure most people notice but the ‘Great Reset’ is really just a big marketing push for the World Economic Forum that heavily relies on donations and membership fees from rich members that want to go to some event to speak about their view on economics and what they think should happen.

The best view research of economics and such is going to be at academics with heavily peer reviewed papers and such. Not some bullshit economic forum that is making outlandish claims to try to get some media attention so they have a reason to get people to pay more for their membership dues.
125  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you guys think about MOVIE-TV politics?? on: January 14, 2021, 09:04:28 PM
I hate political correctness. What does that even mean? In a story, movie, game, show, whatever, there may, or may not be whites, blacks, Asians, gays, lesbians, thin, fat, tall, short, and every other combination. This is part of the story. But to FORCEFULLY add everyone in the mix, just to be politically correct, is totally wrong IMHO, and distorts the artist's intended creation.

We are (or should be) free to express ourselves in any way we want, as long as we do not cause harm to, or limit the freedom of anybody. If I'm a painter and I like black women, my paintings will contain black women. I don't want to be forced to add whites, Asians, etc. Same applies to any other preference. If people don't like my paintings, they can just ignore them.

I also don't agree with the race/gender percentage employment policies that are sometimes enforced in companies. If I have a company, I don't want to be forced to employ xx% whites, yy% blacks, zz% Asians, aa% men, bb% women, etc. I want to employ people based on their skills in relation to the job requirements. Whoever is more capable should get he job, regardless of gender or race.

Pretty sure most people agree with the whole ‘adding people for the sake of adding people into the mix is stupid’ you either add people into the story with a real character line or no at all.

Pleasing groups just with throwing in a token black person, or a token gay person isn’t really doing anything and is just cringy at best. I’ve seen a lot of great movies / shows with minority characters that have a great story line and character development. But I’ve also seen ones that do it horribly.

Hopefully people will show directors / producers that a token isn’t enough and is just bullshit.

127  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Canada $6000 fine if not following 8pm-5am curfew on: January 14, 2021, 08:51:12 PM
Does a curfew help prevent the spread of the virus? (assuming this is directly virus related).
I often go for walks very late or very early when there's few out just because there's less people out and less chance of catching or spreading the virus (for obvious reasons) - how is going out between those hours going to do anything other than mean everyone's going for walks/shopping etc at the same time because they have a smaller amount of time to do it in.

Pretty sure most of these curfews are in place to stop people from going out at night — meaning going out to dinner, bars, friends houses for late night meetus, and so on and so forth.

People going on a walk late at night is not going to spread the virus, but a late night meetup at a friends house is probably going to involve a lot of people (10 or so) from different areas all eating, drinking / smoking, etc and spreading the virus to one another if they have it.

I’ve heard from my Canadian friends that things were getting strict up there, but didn’t know the curfew was that early.
128  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Happy" Anniversary Covid-19 on: January 14, 2021, 08:48:07 PM
It’s really sad to see that even though we’re at a year at this point, people are taking it less seriously then they took it in March. People are now just ignoring the rules, going out, visiting friends/family /etc and are continuing to spread the virus around even though we’re at record highs in regards to deaths, infections, and so on and so forth.

Back in March people were scared shitless, but now people are just ‘Covid Fatigued’ and are just ignoring it all together. People don’t even notice that we’re having like 2 9/11’s per day in terms of death in the US.

your as bad as the idiots that make facebook/twitter posts falsely claiming celebrities have died.

what is your goal/desires of being such an unresearched idiot
what is your end game of being such a copy/paste conspiracy queen

is it boredom, entertainment. or do you have deeper motives of wanting to cause trouble by seeing how many other idiots fall for your false claims.
are you a scammer trying to build up a black list of idiots based on how many support your lies. knowing the more stupid people are the more easy you can scam them later?

basically im asking. what do you get out of being a lying idiot?

Post count go up

Conspiracy tards being to follow him

Probably some boredom as well. Or maybe he actually thinks all of this is real as well and the MSM is hiding all of it.

But you’re telling me that we’re at 1 year and the President of the free world (Trump) has been unable to prove that this is the case with the full force of the United States backing him? All of the intelligence in this country hasn’t been able to prove that so there’s no chance that this is real.

So it turns out when you deleted a post on Parler they did not remove the content. Just marked it as deleted.

It also looks like they KYCed some users and kept the dox online.

OTOH it's ridiculous to call the kids who stole the data "security researchers". They hacked the site just like Equifax or CapitalOne "researchers" did, and they should get a hefty book thrown at them for this vigilante nonsense.

Yep.

https://lifehacker.com/parler-wasnt-hacked-but-that-doesnt-mean-its-safe-to-u-1845757409

They require you to upload a SSN number to get a verified status LOL.

Yeah, I'm just going to download some shady app that probably data mines every input and then give it my SSN so I get a checkmark to my name! Now the app's offline and the SSN's are probably stored in China somewhere.

WAIT WHAT THE FUCK?

THEY REQUIRE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER TO GET VERIFIED STATUS? This isn’t a god damn bank with regulatory standards they must adhere to, this is a social media website that could easily weed through ‘real’ and ‘fake’ people.

While I wouldn’t want to provide any information like this, I’d rather send a picture of my ID or something like that. Handing over my SSN is an easy way to lose everything once someone hacks parler and opens up a million credit lines in my name.

Someone should be sounding an alarm right now to not use this app.
132  Other / Politics & Society / Donald Trump has been impeached for the 2nd time on: January 14, 2021, 07:26:13 PM
Donald Trump has been formally impeached by the House of Representatives for the 2nd time during his Presidency. 10 Republicans crossed over partisan lines and voted with Dems to impeach him.

News reports are saying that Trump is having a hard time finding lawyers to represent him in the next impeachment trial - https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-01-14/trump-struggles-to-build-legal-team-as-impeachment-trial-nears - Lawyers that Republicans typically rely on are privately saying that they’d tarnish themselves by taking on this indefensible action of trying to overturn a democratic election.

SML Mitch McConnell has stated that he will not reconvene the Senate early to bring impeachment to the Senate side. We’ll see what the next session looks like in with Schumer as the majority leader.

Donald Trump now represents half of the total impeachments for all US Presidents.
133  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How will Trump leave the White House? on: January 14, 2021, 07:17:34 PM
and they let them in nice and easy.
They were definitely overwhelmed but they also didn't let them in nice and easy.

They barricaded both the exterior and interior doors with furniture and had weapons drawn.  The mob broke through anyway.

I think the criticism of the poor planning is valid, they weren't prepared - and if it comes out that Trump had any hand in the lack of preparedness I think he will probably go to prison for it.

But I also think the police/security/national guard/SAA on the scene handled the situation fine.  They could've open fired and killed dozens, but the mob was well armed as well, it would've been a blood bath and they would've still gotten inside the building.  Considering the VP and congress were secured, I think basically standing down after it was clear they were outnumbered (they did shoot and kill one person just as an external door was breached) was the only logical option.

Yeah, I’m really not a fan of everyone on social media saying that these people were let in to run around because they were white and all of that stuff. I think that’s a pretty stupid take on all of this that happened, but that’s understandable as people are quick to jump to conclusions.

They were TOTALLY overwhelmed by the amount of people that showed up and how much these people wanted to go into the Capitol, but they did handle the situation as perfectly as possible. With the thousands of people who were inside / outside not many died and everyone on the congressional side was safe. They did their job to the best of their ability and secured the people inside.

Property can be repaired, but a dead human can not be.
134  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Capitol Stormers Are Now On No-Fly List And Crying At Airports on: January 14, 2021, 07:11:19 PM
this is just sad. these people are so delusional about their belief that they ready to ruin their lives for someone who doesn't really care about them. did they think that trump would help them get away from consequences or did they think that this will be just let go since there are a lot of them that did it?

LOL.

It’s funny cause these people really don’t even notice what they did is wrong. They truly think they’re in the right and everything they did was fine but were fine yelling and screaming about rioting during the BLM protests. Crazy world we live in.
that is what you call hypocrites and self-righteous.

I mean, Trump really can’t pardon them. He COULD legally do so, but if he was to do so he would be impeached and convicted on the spot. So there’s no way to support this and help these people.

I don’t think that Trump wanted his people to storm the Capitol, he really just wanted to put as much pressure on Republicans in congress as possible and all of this got out of hand very quickly. Storming the Capitol has really screwed him, and was the reason for him to lose Twitter (and every other avenue where he can directly speak to his tens of millions of supporters)

135  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 25th Amendment after Trump supporters riot in the Capital on: January 14, 2021, 07:02:38 PM
6% shift though, that’s something. Most of his approval rating came from die hard people, so seeing a shift like that is really something. Important to see if that’s just short term shock in regards to the Capitol, or if these people will genuinely not support Trump in the long term. Impossible for us to see now though.

Republicans like Jim Jordan are already starting to whitewash the whole thing, along the lines that Trump never told these people to be violent, but the election was still fraudulent, and now on top of all this he's a martyr because Twitter et al banned him. And yes, events like these fade in public memory whereas "judges! abortions! Mexicans!" will remain very important to the base. The only thing that can dethrone Trump is perhaps another Trump-like character rising through the ranks, not sure who that could be though.

Totally agree with this. Trump still holds a massive amount of support within the party and as time goes on people will forget that the event happened due to news reporting / other republicans saying that Trumps role in this entire thing was minimal.

Really depends on how much time Trump supporters spend on Fox, Newsmax, OAN following the Capitol riots. Cause these networks will do a pretty good job of spinning the story.

Not sure who is the new Trump in the party as well. Maybe someone like DeSantis could emerge on the national stage? Cotton?
136  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jack Dorsey makes excuses about blocking Trump. on: January 14, 2021, 06:58:17 PM
Once this is over and done with Twitter will no longer exist. All sorts of alternative pop up like powping where everone is his own moderator

While some conservatives may leave the platform, I highly doubt this is going to be the end of the platform as we know it. Maybe Parler and some of these other conservative networks will gain a little bit of steam, but it’s not going to be able to take over twitter as they’re really only catering to conservatives.

I really hated Jack Dorsey just bringing up Bitcoin randomly — guy is only doing it cause he knows he can make some good money on it if people use his Cash app to buy it/sell it / etc.

Where do you stand? Do you stand for Trump and truth and freedom? Or do you stand for your social media that will make slaves of us all if we remain in it?

I thought you were just a christian troll, but I guess it makes sense you are a white supremacist as well.  :/  Remember:  God created white men and women.   The only reason "colored" people exist is because their ancestors came from the three sons of Adam and Eve, really fucking up their DNA.

 Roll Eyes

I have a serious question.  Trump has stated he will not attend the inauguration.  Is the US capitol just preparing for riots, or are they also prepared for organized militia with artillery or even primitive missiles?  They don't need to occupy - just kill.

Canada is worried.  This focus on domestic enemies also weakens our observation of foreign enemies.

Pretty sure they’re prepared for some degree of riots, the National Guard is already in the Capitol and extensive new security measures have been put in place to ensure that everyone over there is safe and we do not have a repeat of what happened last week.

https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/dc-inauguration-latest-national-special-security-event-begins-white-house-perimeter-planned/2540370/

FBI is saying (in the above article) that they’re expecting violence in the days leading up to and on the day of the inauguration of Biden. Though we’re expecting more and more police / military presence to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible.

Trumps tone in the recent days is probably helping some of his supporters, as he is calling for a peaceful transition of power at this point. Though I’m not sure what the crazy conspiracy theory supporters think.

trumpism in politics ends next week.

Although 'Trumpism' started to shrivel well before his inauguration, it was proven dead and putrid when Trump ordered the bombing of Syria after an obviously phony 'chemical attack.'  It would have been proven mid way through the 2016 elections if there really were a 'two-party system' with results that were not well managed.

I'm a little bit sorry for the idiots that the Talmudics gas-lighted along all the way to q-tard-landia, but not much more sorry than I am for their counterparts on the phony Left.  I am surprised at how many of the latter populate this forum.  More than I would expect.  I do have to wonder how many of you guys might be on a payroll of some sort.  I know that social media 'influencers' have had salaries and specialized software for doing their thing more efficiently since a good deal of development work along these lines back in the mid 2000's (due to various hacks as well as just being decent at analysis.)  It does seem possible that this forum rose to a level of importance to justify some input, but that's mostly a reflection of how Bitcoin itself could be disruptive to the Rothschild banking system...and lucrative to the people who work in and around it.

Waiting for my check, though I’m not sure I’d call myself someone on the left, is that the reason for the hold up? LOL.

Onto the topic here, I assume these people are going to be on this temporarily — nothing permanent until investigations are concluded and these people are found to be nothing more then just a bunch of crazies who believe tons of conspiracy theories and this particular one went all the away to raiding the Capitol.

You are obviously not a lawyer.  You have no idea what the standards for disbarment are.  Please stop opining from total ignorance—or else hit up West/Lexis, and show some case law applicable to any circumstance even remotely similar.  Every state has mountains of published opinions about its rules of professional conduct for attorneys.  Have fun with that.

NYSBA’s bylaws state that “no person who advocates the overthrow of the government of the United States, or of any state, territory or possession thereof, or of any political subdivision therein, by force or other illegal means, shall be a member of the Association.”

Landmark case for NYSBA. I’d the put the odds at 50/50 of him actually getting disbarred here. May just end up with a pretty hefty punishment from them and a certain amount of time with his license taken away. We’ll see.

A new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll pegs Trump’s approval at just 34 percent, the lowest in four years of tracking opinions of the president’s job performance.

Not that much off the ~40% he's usually at, is it?

Three in four self-identified GOP voters still approve of the job Trump is doing as president — 75 percent — but that is down from 83 percent in the final POLITICO/Morning Consult poll of 2020, conducted in December.

There you go. His base is still there and it's still holding the GOP hostage. This is basically a death sentence (hopefully not literally; just losing the primaries) for the political career of almost any GOP senator who considers voting to convict Trump in the impeachment trial.
