Ok yes that sounds logical, the price is already going up I see today, on yobit and on Poloniex did anything happen? Cheesy
So the value of the Sys coin with that switch will stay the same or only gets higher?

And about the Sys wallet because I haven't downloaded that yet, should I already download the wallet and store my coins there?
Did buy some more quickly since the price is rising today!

After switch the price will scale with the decrease in supply, so will only get higher. In terms of download wallet or store coins on exchange- its up to you, they are safe either way as long as you've purchased them before the transition. I always advise people to store large amount of coins off of exchange for security reasons, and always backup your wallet.

when is the 299 to 1 switch taking place?

Happens after Syscoin 2.0 is released in "final" form, we estimate this will occur around the end of March. When we have a firm date we'll advertise it loudly.

Interview with dano from syscoin Team is up! Smiley Enjoy!

Thanks for taking the time to write about Syscoin! For those looking for the direct link, here it is!
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin-FINAL BETA LAUNCHED! *ENCRYPTION, MARKETPLACE, BTC INTEGRATION* on: March 11, 2016, 02:21:56 AM
What is that rumor?
I Also would like to know dano is is smarter to buy Sys now or after the transformation.
Because I have read if you have like 3 coins now you will end up with 1 is that true?
And is that only because there where to many coins available?
I talked to my brother today and told him about this, he said sounds good give me 10k of them Cheesy
But I dont want to buy 10k for him and then he ends up with only 3k, so what is the smartest thing to do here?

From my understanding coins will be split when the transfer happens at 299.4 to 1.
So that means if you have 1000 SYS right now, once the transfer completes you will effectively have 3.34001336 SYS.

@coffecup is correct. @nickenburg yes we reduced the overall supply because we felt 2billion coins was too much and also to increase the perception of scarcity. In terms of you actual holdings you won't lose anything, you're wallet balance scales proportionally with the supply reduction at a rate of 299.4:1. The new mining schedule also releases fewer coins per day vs. today's schedule and Syscoin 2.0 has a built in inflation/deflation mechanism based on service usage (services being defined as Syscoin specific services).

I'd recommend buying before the transformation for-sure. I'd actually recommend buying as soon as you can reasonably do so.

Also as some may have seen via Twitter and our Slack we have another news/blog announcement coming Monday/Tuesday of next week.

Will syscoin2/doc/README_windows.txt located on github get some attention? I even checked out the wiki link and it is broken or no longer exists. I guess I am looking for more robust instructions on setting myself up on a windows OS for running the daemon. If there are instructions located elsewhere please let me know, I am still looking as well.

We follow the bitcoin layout because we plan on merging in future changes to the bitcoin core. To that end I think the info you seek is here: https://github.com/syscoin/syscoin2/blob/master/doc/build-windows.md if you have any issues just give a shout via slack!
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin-FINAL BETA LAUNCHED! *ENCRYPTION, MARKETPLACE, BTC INTEGRATION* on: March 08, 2016, 10:26:09 PM
Smiley Thanks for the update!

Yes I believe, that this coin is still underpriced.

Is there any other coin, like ethereum where there can be a dapp that could do the same thing??
Or is this something unique, because that will make a big difference.
In the meantime I will be buying some cheap Syscoin, till the price will blow up!!

Nothing as of my research when writing this blog http://syscoin.org/in-depth-look-at-the-syscoins-decentralized-marketplace-and-comparing-it-to-the-competition/

and Eth had a dapp with a small team but it got postphoned and no work was being done, Vitalik Buterin actually wanted us to work on ethereum to do a marketplace and was willing to part-fund it however I feel we need a workign prototype with requirements flushed out first before we move into the dapp world(yes its a possibility aslong as it benefits holders of sys). No other marketplace I believe really comes close, OpenBazaar is p2p and I feel its goign to have a hard time scaling and becoming usable. Bitbay is really only other one but it is severly under manned and developer is swamped with work, especially with the features he wants to do, we will really be alone in this category of what we are trying to achieve. One of our competitors actually have reached out to us to see if there was a way to have them work for sys and we are currently still working out details on if and how this may be possible.

Ethermarket was the dapp i'm talking about, I researched it in september 2015 and even left messages for their developers on their gitter chat, and as you can see my last messages from sept 1 still stand as the last messages so I assume it has been abandoned.

Ok See that is what I am talking about no other coin, has the possibility's of a decentralized market place like Syscoin.
Then I really see this going big, It is just up to the creators to really create a good wallet/marketplace.
And There probably will be a market like this as a Ethereum Dapp then, but that will probably take a long time.
I think when the official release is done, and people will start to make use of the market place we will see a big price increase then.
Especially if the drugsmarket moves to Sys, I will be buying some more!

Yep and we already actually have a web wallet complete w all marketplace features  -  codename Blockmarket - which has already been beta tested (many moons ago). Blockmarket needs some updates for everything in SYS 2.0 but will be available very shortly following release. We can host people blockmarket or they can one-click deploy their own. Blockmarket is fully mobile compatible. After we finish the integrations we'll roll out native mobile solutions for even better experiences but Blockmarket will suffice in the interim for mobile.

This is going to get pretty wild once we launch. As you and others have identified there is really nothing else out there that offers what Syscoin 2.0 offers. As @sidhujag mentioned even competing platforms have reached out to us because they see the value in what we're bringing to the table both at a core feature level and at a user-experience and professionalism level. The drug market niche is def not our primary focus, but there is def a use case there for Syscoin, and whether we agree with it or not it will drive the marketcap up because buyers/sellers require at least dust amounts of Syscoin to use the services.

And when official release will be done?

This depends on the beta progress. We're targeting end of March barring any unforseen issues being dicsovered in the public beta. We should have a new version of the public beta shortly and will post the blog / communicate this when ready.

---

It's worth noting the team is working on a LOT of stuff right now that may not see the light of day til this weekend or next week. Lots of very positive things going on behind the scenes for Syscoin. Stay tuned!  Smiley

Nice update and thank you. I am currently looking through forum posts, I am specifically interested in the details concerning Mining and syscoins being converted over to Syscoin 2.0. If anyone knows where I can find it please let me know, if I find it first I will post a link.

No problem, I think this has all the details you're looking for but if you have any questions fire away - http://syscoin.org/shade-development-enters-the-home-stretch/

A good backlog of updates / info / news can be found here: http://syscoin.org/blog and http://reddit.com/r/Syscoin (look at the Team Notes posts)

Masternodes?!?!?!? You said the magic word.

Speaking of masternodes mine started getting payouts of 83.333 (up from 50). Is this abnormal or did i just overlook something in the payout schedule?  Smiley

Hey, Dano! Where should I place the bootstrap.dat file? I am trying AppData\Roaming\Syscoin\blocks\      and    AppData\Roaming\Syscoin\  folders but it's not works.

You're using the bootstrap on mainnet right? I haven't actually tested the bootstrap myself but I can give it a go tomm (sorry gotta crash tonight) I would recommend trying the -loadblock command (based on http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/16769/how-to-use-the-bootstrap-dat-file-with-bitcoin-qt) if putting the bootstrap file in those folders didn't work. Should've worked though, I'll give it a go myself using the above mentioned methods too and report back w more info.

quote trimmed for length!

Yeah it is not a good idea honestly I was joking earlier with the drop-ship listing comment. If drug listing started appearing and the marketplace took off the The Governments of the World cannot shut it down but they could shut down the developers; they're not anons and some live in the US. If anyone here thinks that because its decentralized that will protect the devs they are naive imo; By putting the screws to the devs(harassment, lawsuits, BS trump charges, etc.) they would probably succeed in freezing legitimate development on Syscoin(who can blame them, they have lives and families) and I seriously doubt anyone from the community would step up and fill the shoes of the devs so it essentially would kill Syscoin development for legitimate purposes. You can forget about partnerships with legitimate companies to if you have any kind of illegal listing on the marketplace. As a businessman I would see it as too risky a PR disaster waiting to happen. Just my two cents on why it shouldn't happen not trying to be a downer or anything but that's just the outcome I see happening if syscoin goes down that road. After the Silk Road trial I wouldn't expect them to hold anything back and actually play by the rules of the law.

I agree this will be very interesting to watch as it unfolds and I would question the legitimacy of any case attempted to be brought against the dev team. What would be pursued for? We aren't listing the items. I think they would have a very difficult time crafting a case that really put the developers in the line of fire, although they could try. To the earlier point it would be like trying to sue all gun manufacturers for shooting deaths each year... not the fault of the manufacturer and there is arguably a much stronger foundation for a case there vs an open source project having listings created by its consumers that the govt doesn't like and because it decentralized and they can't stop it they come after... the devs? But for what? I don't know of any case law that would give them a position to attack us from, but I'm also not a lawyer  Wink You can bet that prior to official release we'll be retaining a lawyer to ensure Syscoin's EULA is solid and releases us from all liability.

To the point of mixed materials in the marketplace, some which may be objectionable to certain other merchants or certain locales. As sidhujag mentioned you're only going to see everything on the chain when your in the wallet, searching- and you're still only going to see public items. If the "nefarious" items are private listings, you'll never see them in the wallet (listings start as private by default). Additionally, if you're interfacing with the marketplace through a web or mobile view (the most common use case in the end imo) you will only see the items the merchant / market operator wants you to see. For those merchants that have a problem with "everything on the chain" possibly containing stuff they oppose they'll have to make the choice as to whether those items which are invisible to their customers are worth losing the benefits that Syscoin brings - namely increased exposure, lower costs, no central authority, higher redundancy, and zero downtime.

If they feel the value tradeoff isn't there they will keep paying eBay (or whoever) and hoping it stays up and hoping they can market their items effectively enough to garner sales and hoping their listings are allowed there and they don't get banned. I agree that while there's really no telling what will happen when this is unleashed (its like Twitter before there was twitter  Wink ) the key to succeeding for us is going after that eBay/Etsy/Craiglist/p2p replacement and then scaling into eCommerce on the back of that because we're cheaper, and more reliable. While the dark market thing has a niche, its not the pathway to LARGE scale growth and adoption we're looking to see w this project.

I do see your point and you may be right nothing may ever come of it but I am glad you guys are taking steps to ensure the project succeeds and they will be no liability. I do love the vision the team has and by no means do I actually want the things I said happening its just fruit for thought. Keep up the good work!

Thanks and yeah I hope with what I've said and what @sidhujag's said that the community sees this is something the team has given considerable thought. We wanted to balance the ability for people to sell what they wanted with several other factors including network performance and not being "purpose built" for that use case by including anon in the wallet.

You make good points though and they're definitely something we're considering and working to insulate ourselves against to ensure the long term health of this project. Hell- if we got to a scale where governments were coming after us because of how this all is being used I'm sure our market cap would be pretty stellar... whether we agree with its roots or not.

In other news we've stood up two more nodes for the testnet as people were reporting some connection issues- these are in Germany and Canada so hopefully faster for people outside the states too.

Code:
addnode=107.170.185.5
addnode=159.203.31.20
addnode=46.101.244.183

testnet=1
debug=1

Also made some minor updates to the merchant portal and main website for continuity regarding the Beta launch news.

snip... if they are smart the will just put it on private and give the link to trusted people. ...snip

Exactly- this was the thinking behind that feature. You can have a number of private listings and then just host a Blockmarket (the market-in-a-box web experience we've created for Syscoin's marketplace on the web) and expose all your private items to your customers without them being seen in the wallet search and without having to give them links to each item- they would just get a link to wherever you host your Blockmarket and then can see all your listings (public and private).

Alternatively you could skip the Blockmarket web front end entirely as @nickenburg mentions and just give them the GUID (direct link) for the offer, both routes insulate the item from public view.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin-*ENCRYPTION, MARKETPLACE, BITCOIN INTEGRATION* - FINAL BETA SOON on: March 01, 2016, 09:38:15 PM
I guess most of user didnt like the market. Everybody sell their syscoins.

Yeh I liked the market so more cheap coins for me then,

This can easily grow to be the new silkroad 3.0 :p

In my opinion, and you can also sell more stuff ofcourse.

Maybe you should add like a 18+ section to the coin.

Where you can maybe have like a illegal stuff section so the kids wont see the crazy stuff Cheesy

In general unless your browsing entire blockchaim through a web portal someone stood up the kids wont see that stuff. The idea is that the merchan creates his store and stands up a gui that only shows his offers

Remember, it's money/currency. And money in, and of itself, cannot be blamed for what is purchased with it. If someone makes an illegal deal using USD, the US Government can't be held responsible. By the same token, if someone uses the phone system to facilitate an illegal transaction, the phone system/company cannot be held responsible because the transaction was arranged over their lines.

This should be very interesting to watch as it unfolds....

Thank you very much. It has been a long road but we're here for the long term, hope (new) people realize that  Smiley

Nice Live stream yesterday guys I liked the idea very much.

And I also like the Idea that when I buy this coin I can eventually buy something very cool on the marketplace;)

But 1 question you said yesterday in the video this marketplace is going to have no central authority that is going to control what is being offered.

And you can sell everything you want, does this mean people are going to come off the tor network, and start selling drugs and weapons on this marketplace?

And if that is the case, shouldn't we be afraid that like the Fbi want to kill the marketplace, if that is going to happen?

Thank you, and good question. Because the Syscoin marketplace is fully decentralized if someone (like the FBI) wanted to take down and item / the marketplace they would somehow have to take out every single syscoin node on the network to take down the marketplace. This is a near impossible feat I'd say as new nodes can always be stood up, the attacker would have to DDoS the entire network and any new nodes coming online and/or try a fork attack (and our merge mining with bitcoin will mean a very high hashrate that should insulate from that as well.)

On another note- I'm up and working on fixing that MacOS Beta build, thanks everyone for your patience. I will have this up and post to notify people ASAP.

I'd just wait unless you have a lot you wanna get off exchange.

Well its only 12:45PM my time and 2:45PM his time here in the States so plenty of time left in the day and he's probably busy preparing the release is what my guess would be.

The dev is from the USA?

Ok, than i understand, but in europe its nearly the next day and in china its already monday.

Yeah we're in USA and Canada some are in the US/PST timezone, some are in US/EST (myself and wazaweasel). Devs are ALL online, in slack, have been since this morning that's the best place to catch us- we aren't on BCT 24/7 since its not realtime like slack. We're here though Smiley

We were up til 4am local time last night and then had to get some sleep. Back on it again today- we stay awake for as many hours as possible!

I'm happy that the price is above Aug '14 numbers.
The morons who bitched and screamed back then are now leaving.
Those that will be left are true believers of the coin!  Grin

Hell yea! We stuck around, worked on this thing for a year for free even through the dark times and now SYS is finally getting the attention it deserves. I really believe $1mil market cap for the features SYS brings to the table and a fully functional is incredibly low, I think we could grow to a $5-8mil market cap with proper traction and once people realize the full potential of Syscoin 2.0.

Syscoin Team will be on @BlockTalk Sunday, February 28th at 5pm US/EST.* We’ll be talking Syscoin 2.0 and plan on releasing the public beta following the show. Tune in and get ready for beta launch

Will be tweeting this shortly as well but shared in Slack already, we're super busy today but set your calendars for tomorrow!

@keyare is sending out giveaway rewards now to those who followed the instructions! There's still time!

and... possible teaser video tonight?  Shocked if I have time!
