… and so the fungibility is gone. Hope we find a way to make investigations like this pointless for the majority of transactions.
Easy, there is several similar proposals, e.g. Automatic Coin Mixing Idea. Yes, I knew that thread. It would be a great thing for hot wallets. Cold storage would not work that way though.

Any happy-customer-stories yet?
Sad there isn't any happy customer yet

very very surely he would not do that but if he did it would be great news for bitcoin. It could get dirty around the competitors fighting each-other and bitcoin pools would team up with Hollywood against KimCoin. Ahhh!! What news that would bring )

I wouldn't be surprised if they reverse themselves in a couple months, and then the detractors will use that as evidence that bitcoin doesn't really work for companies like WordPress.
That idea crossed my mind too but I rejected it right away, like, I don't want to think about that. That idea crossed his mind, too. He's got nothing to loose when waiting some months. He would have much to win/loose moving now though.

… hmm … didn't think much about this yet but maybe you would not want the language to be encoded in your url. I will not buy this gourmet pizza oven if it doesn't come in my language. Second thought: Ever thought about having products multi-lingual, too? People that import their stuff from a database might be able to provide it at little effort. Not sure if any market does that or any customer actually would use it for more than 2 languages but having the description in native language of those that have lowest shipping costs (neighbors) might totally make sense. You could even partner with duolingo.com (or any other translation service out there) and sell your users translations to different languages.

You might want to change the layout for the tag thingy though. Now this looks like porn advertisement (which it is but you are not earning from showing it which it looks like).
Maybe a disclaimer is needed, I don't mind it being liberal what text is shown though. Yes, it is not obvious at all that it is a tag associated with the address, it looks like it is just an ad being run by your site. Perhaps you should add a label saying something like "owner-supplied address tag". I am sure you can find a better wording hmm … actually it is not owner-supplied neither. I could put the 1dice… address in my sockpuppet Hitler's signature and blockchain might associate this common address with Hitler. Although there might be some moderation to prevent this, the current tagging is far from what we discussed above. As far as I'm concerned, it's ok as is.

I call BS, too. If it were true, it would be a good advise to sell now. A $5M purchase not getting the price to a new all time high would get me very very bearish. OTOH if I ever plan to launch a multi-million dollar worth of bitcoin only business I sure as hell would make sure to get some bitcoins for myself or at least for my business.

|
Oh, well hidden. Now I see it. Searching for "(" helps finding them. Can I haz filter for tagged addresses? Pleeez

|

For a few bucks I can see it as a courtesy, why not. As OP said, help someone get his first BTC. But otherwise, many people do not want to sell their BTC.
I would do my best to fill any purchase at my own costs plus x. I know how to turn cash into bitcoin. If somebody is so desperate to send me cash not agreeing on a fee upfront, I'll do my best to not have him disappointed. I would not end up having less bitcoins neither.

Hey, cool, I'm happy … but would be happier if I would see tags in the taint analysis
|
|
|
Hey, cool, I'm happy It doesn't include up or down voting as the tags in this context probably serve a slightly different purpose than your original idea giszmo. Which was to allow people to tag addresses as belonging to scammers, add comments etc? While I could see this being useful in some situations it has the danger of morphing into a blacklist which in my opinion is a bad idea all round.
Well, if the blacklist doesn't come simply because nobody does it, I'm sure, somebody will do it some day. Only if there is something some people might use as a black list, awareness rises and proposals to have clients launder by default will have a chance to get implemented for whatever reason.

Now, assuming that the only things in the envelope were cash and a bitcoin address, I'd be stuck. There's no way to return the money. And if anyone is watching me surreptitiously, I'd have a hard time imagining doing the transaction would be seen as worse than just keeping the money (for now at least.)
This could be an interesting plot for a novel. The silent killer. Send him bitcoins for his cash.. or else... Ooooh! Spooky! Now I'm scared!

Gracias. Si, este parte de "soy aqui para hacer blablabla" seguro que sirve algo. Voy a ver.

First, I'd consider that (1) I don't solicit such anonymous transactions, (2) I'm always short on bitcoins and need more, and (3) I keep my mailing address VERY private, and would immediately be suspicious if such an envelope arrived.
Now, assuming that the only things in the envelope were cash and a bitcoin address, I'd be stuck. There's no way to return the money. And if anyone is watching me surreptitiously, I'd have a hard time imagining doing the transaction would be seen as worse than just keeping the money (for now at least.)
So, yes, I'd do the transaction. It would take a little while, as I'd use the money to buy more bitcoins first, rather than send them mine. And I'd charge them quite a bit to compensate for the hassle and annoyance (refer to points 1, 2 and 3 above). But I'd probably take the time to also send them enough micro-transactions to form a message, something to the effect of "dont do this again" or "charging 50% next time."
The friendly hater I laughed imagining a paranoid anonymous person trying to be friendly to a person that's somehow better at being paranoidanonymous together with the urge of sending a message rather than just applying the high fee

There are people publicly announcing to send Bitcoins for anonymous cash deliveries.
Really? Where? Ok, he does not explicitly state "anonymous", but somehow I'd say he implies it: http://bitcoinsinberlin.com/
