1281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dwolla Begins Paypal-Style Account Suspensions on: January 28, 2013, 02:32:56 PM
By siding with obsolete anti-consumer PayPal style technology and eschewing truly disruptive innovation, Dwolla relegates itself to unprofitable infamy.

Right now, Dwolla fills a niche because it allows those of us with US bank accounts to cheaply convert between and dollars.

How much more would you pay to support a bitcoin-friendly business that provides the same service?  Twice?  Three times?  How about forty times as much!  A typical $1000 transfer between Mt. Gox from Dwolla costs $0.25.  It would cost $10 to use coinbase.

I'd love to support bitcoin-friendly businesses like coinbase, but until they are able to reduce their fees to be somewhat more competitive, using their service doesn't make sense to me.  If they changed to a flat-rate fee schedule, they'll have me as a customer even at quadruple what Dwolla charges.

Jason. Not gonna happen. No business can make a profit at that fee level. Even at scale.

1282  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for Partner for a New Bitcoin Business - Developer Wanted on: January 28, 2013, 02:29:49 PM
FTR Bitcoin-Central.net, Instawallet.org, Instawire.org are built with Rails.
Sucks though that the OP was simply looking for a developer and this thread turned into a my-penis-is-bigger-than-yours contest.

No offence davout but why are those sites so slow. I reccomend instawallet all the time to new users but it seems to take forever to load. I notice the same thing with my bitcoin-central account, very slow loading pages.
1283  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Trendon Shavers-Philip Moustakis-United States Securities & Exchange Commission on: January 28, 2013, 03:35:54 AM
If the SEC and the FED can not prosecute executives at HSBC, Goldman, Bear, Lehman and MF Global etc. for fraud then there is no way they are bringing in a piker like Trendon Shavers for scamming with his Internet play money. The only hope is income tax fraud cause no way the Shavers' can afford those vehicles and that home on Ashley's Six Flags income.
1284  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for Partner for a New Bitcoin Business - Developer Wanted on: January 27, 2013, 08:31:08 PM
gweedo,

Do you have to angrily troll every thread you participate in??

I noticed you advertise "Java, PHP, HTML/CSS Programmer for Hire!"

You're really not doing yourself or your business much good with these kind of post.

Based on your posts, If I was 12 and met you on 4chan and wanted to create a justin beiber fan site I might hire you.

But for anything related to btc, probably now.

I'm just saying...

1285  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Jakers' Vouches on: January 27, 2013, 08:25:22 PM
Good posts. Guys.  Even if you get scammed (which Sucks) it helps alert the community so other can avoid the same fate.

If this guy does get the scammer take, just beware that he will probably be back with a new nick so just be on the look out for similar behavior (by new Jakers and other similar scammers)

Here is what jakers is doing.

He doesn't really own any bitcoin.

he is buying your gift codes then going on otc and trying to sell it.  I've seen him not be very successful there is reselling your bitcoin.  In fact I don't know that anyone has successfully traded with him there either.

So in essence he is taking receipt of your code and cashing it and not paying because he does not yet own the bitcoin.

If he said he was taking your code on consignment that would be another matter.

jakers is a SCAMMER.

Yes. And I would have known that if I did more homework on the guy besides looking at this vouch thread he created himself.

This dude is broke. I noticed that on Jan 22 he requested a loan in the Lending forum.

How do you claim to be such a big gc trader but you never have any BTC or other funds? I noticed a screenshot he did of his MB account that had got froze. A whopping $61.

Broke dude probably needed the wally world gc's more than I did anyway

ruggedman_dan

If he did now pay you please paste a screen shot of the PM or chat log with the deal and the btc address in jakers scammer thread.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=139035.0

Thx.

1286  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: User Jakers: Beware on: January 27, 2013, 07:50:00 PM
if jakers owes you bitcoin please update your post or add a chat log or PM screen shot of an agreement AND a link to the empty bitcoin address on blockchain.info

If Jakers has make good on your trades please post that also.

Thanks

1291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought my ticket for Bitcoin 2013 in San Jose! on: January 26, 2013, 08:22:46 PM
I would also like to hear Mike Hearn Present again.  Always interesting.

Is piuk attending?
1292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought my ticket for Bitcoin 2013 in San Jose! on: January 26, 2013, 08:17:23 PM
Guido,  La la la la la la la la la la la

(smoothie, the bitcoin gadfly - thank you for your service)

What I would really like to see is Philip Moustakis, or since he is involved in an active investigation, someone else from the US Securities and Exchange Commission at the conference talking about bitcoin securities.

I would also like to hear an update of:

The Bitcoinica Litigation

The Dwolla/TradeHill Litigation

And a recap of:

The Pirateat40/PPT fiasco and

The GLBSE meltdown.

I think analyzing how these things now with a little hindsight when down will assist us in forging  the path forward.
1293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought my ticket for Bitcoin 2013 in San Jose! on: January 26, 2013, 08:09:42 PM
Guido,

I rest my case.

Smoothie.

I like Casascius.  He contributes to bitcoin and to this community.   I don't like you.  I don't care how much pie you get.  You've never had anything to  contribute to bitcoin nor this forum except your endless trolling.  (Frankly I'm surprised you even have internet - unless you sit in a starbucks all day).

1294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dwolla Begins Paypal-Style Account Suspensions on: January 26, 2013, 08:05:22 PM
Dwolla needs to go bankrupt, but them having allied with da guv'mint would mean they'd get a bailout.

If you do business with dwolla you're asinine.

Dwolla will eventually run out of money and be purchased by a big bank who will then write off the acquisition cost.

Dwolla has no revenue.
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought my ticket for Bitcoin 2013 in San Jose! on: January 26, 2013, 08:02:02 PM
Mitty

Great point. And idiots like smoothie wouldn't dare show his face and make the same inane comments in public. He adds no value to this board and he certainly adds no value to bitcoin. And he probably knows it which is why he continues to troll this and every other thread he comes across. Op you should just lock this thread now and the rest of us can enjoy thoughtful and intelligent conversation at the conference.

I love how when people disagree with someone or a thing, they are instantly labeled a troll or an idiot. Dude like seriously we shown our points and they are not spammy or trolling one bit. Actually Casascius was being a troll, and starting saying shit about porn which had no baring on this thread. Sorry we disagree, we forget this a forum and if you don't suck the dick of foundation or pro bitcoin events, your a troll. This forum is a bunch of elitist and these are the people that will fail and hinder bitcoin's growth into mainstream world.

gweedo,

It's ok to disagree,  real "debates" are the best part of this forum.  Unfortunately when you "disagree" it comes off and very dismissive and combative.  Or maybe first impressions really don't wear off.    (Do you remember when I posted that I was not entering my submission in the MintChip challange.  You went all road rage on me.)

But frankly my comments were specifically directed at Smoothie.  Notice his dark orange ignore button and every thread he contributes essentially becomes a train wreck.

(smoothie, the depth of your ignorance obviously knows no bounds)

1296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought my ticket for Bitcoin 2013 in San Jose! on: January 26, 2013, 07:55:41 PM
With Bitcoin, PoW acts as a synchronization signal all nodes can observe, setting an ordered history they can agree on.

Now write that in laymen's terms...
1297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought my ticket for Bitcoin 2013 in San Jose! on: January 26, 2013, 07:10:34 PM
Apology accepted.

You can be sure we'll all report back here.
1298  Economy / Lending / Re: MPOE Bonds. The largest loaning operation in BTC. on: January 26, 2013, 06:41:45 PM
is this transsexual another Pirateat40 or Nefario?

Debate....

Death and Taxes

Are you presenting at the conference.  I think if you cared to share you could present a very unique perspective based on your experience thus far.  Or at least you should sit on a panel.
1300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought my ticket for Bitcoin 2013 in San Jose! on: January 26, 2013, 06:00:24 PM
Meni,

Whe do you bother responding to these idiots.

Buy the way.  Thanks for that recent, short simple presentation on mining.  Very clear and helpful for the uninitiated.

Looking forward to meeting you at the conference. (are you presenting??).
