1301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 26, 2021, 06:52:19 AM
Looks like I will get some points from the SRH vs DC match. I knew it, since I saw Kedar Jadhav in the SRH playing XI. This guy was very instrumental in CSK's poor form last season, and now he will pass the curse to SRH. And he didn't disappointed me. Mid-way through the innings he dropped an easy catch from Rishabh Pant (who went on to make 37 from 27 balls). BTW, happy to see two consecutive good performances from Steve Smith.
Hehe dead weight Jadhav, there is a reason CSK released him and SRH preferred him over Samad, serves them well tonight lol.

Feeling bad for Kane Williamson tho, it was excellent effort but middle order failed one more time. I had some doubts before but now i'm convinced that Shankar is shitty batsman.

They need someone who can build a partnership. Samad is good for short bursts, but he is not suitable for middle overs. And Vijay Shankar is of zero use. He is neither suitable for middle overs, nor for the depth overs. Mohammad Nabi was given a chance earlier, but he failed. Manish Pandey and Jason Roy are more suitable for the top order and not for the middle order. So for now, I guess their middle order woes are going to persist for some time.
1302  Economy / Speculation / Re: new tax rumor on crypto on: April 26, 2021, 06:40:29 AM
with the tax news flying around , the crypto market was really hit hard and still crawling from recovery. if finally validated, what effects will it have on crypto markets and its traders. please share your views and thoughts.

As long as they are not going to tax unrealized capital gains, we should be fine. The proposal is to make long term capital gains tax equal to the income tax. Now what is going to happen is that most of the investors will postpone their plans to sell cryptocurrency, if they previously had such ideas. This should actually result in an increase in the exchange rates, since a supply crunch will be created as a result.

I am more worried about the demand to tax capital gains that are not realized. This proposal was first put forward by Ron Wyden (Senate Finance Committee) a few years back and now Biden seems to be considering it.
1303  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: April 26, 2021, 06:21:26 AM
I also think that Pfizer and Sputnik is the safest and best to use for covid vaccination. I really don't have trust for all covid vaccines from China. Also our country already experienced the bad effect of the Dengvaxia vaccine from China before but it was not for Covid but also killed a lot of children's lives. Scary to take and vaccinate covid vaccine from China.

Pfizer has refused to provide vaccines to third world countries. They have reserved 99% of their vaccines to developed nations such as the United States and Canada. Pfizer has provided limited doses of the vaccine to some of the third world nations, but in return they are asking for draconian guarantees. And as far as Sputnik V is concerned, they are really struggling to cope up with the demand. The good news is that their facilities in Argentina and Serbia has started producing the vaccines and by next month tens of millions of doses will be available for export.
1304  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dubai's Government and Gambling on: April 26, 2021, 06:08:59 AM
I think the reason for their prohibition of physical gambling is that they are against the teachings of Islam, it's not that easy to wonder why online gambling is not that frowned upon, that is because it will be difficult to catch them on the act. The reason that lottery is allowed is because like any other countries, it is a way to make money for the state.

I don't agree with the last part of your post. As far as I know, the Dubai lottery is one of the most user-friendly games in the world, with the government getting hardly any benefit out of it. There are no taxes on the sales of lottery tickets, or on the winnings. Also, most of the amount collected from the sales is distributed as rewards. Now comes another question. How come lottery is permissible in Islam, when other forms of gambling are not so?
1305  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigerian Banks To Close Accounts Involved with Crypto on: April 26, 2021, 05:55:37 AM
Yes, they are indeed working to lift that crypto ban.

Nigeria’s securities market regulator is working with the country’s central bank to forge a way forward for the embattled industry.

Source: https://coingeek.com/nigeria-sec-working-with-central-bank-to-lift-digital-currency-ban/

This is a good new for those people who lived there involved with crypto.

This is good news for the cryptocurrency users in Nigeria and should be resolved soon enough. Since cryptocurrency is not illegal in Nigeria, it doesn't make any sense to close down the bank accounts that are indulging in Bitcoin trading. Either there is a communication gap between the bank officials and the government, or the bureaucrats and politicians don't agree on how to deal with cryptocurrency. And from what I have seen from India, the bureaucrats are the biggest obstacle.
1306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 25, 2021, 05:10:07 PM
Jonny Bairstow got out after a quickfire of 38 runs but before that SRH captain David Warner gets run-out. Kane Williamson right on the pitch and keeps moving his team with a good rhythm. Sunrisers Hyderabad needs a good partnership in order to maintain run rate and win the match.

SRH 96/3 after 13 overs.

As long as Williamson is there, SRH will be having some hope. I just hope that Kedar Jadhav doesn't run him out (they seems to be lacking coordination in running between the wickets). The target is very much achievable for SRH (they need another 56 runs from 6 overs), but the biggest issue is that out of these six overs, two will be bowled by Kagiso Rabada (I guess Avesh Khan and Amit Mishra will bowl two each). Also, the remaining batsmen are not in good form.

Edit: Kedar Jadhav got out for 9. Stumped by Pant.
1307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: April 25, 2021, 05:03:57 PM
ICC seems to be considering a "second division" of test cricket.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/icc-mulls-regular-test-matches-for-non-wtc-full-members-and-associates-in-next-ftp-cycle-1260609

Quote
An enhanced structure for more multi-day cricket for Full Members outside the World Test Championship (WTC) and Associates could be a possibility in the next cricket calendar. Though the discussions, which took place last week at the ICC's scheduling meeting, are at a very formative stage, they took in the possibility of revisiting a past effort to form a second division for Test cricket. According to multiple sources, such a format could be a blended structure combining Afghanistan, Ireland and Zimbabwe - who play Tests but are not part of the WTC - and Associates with ODI status including Netherlands, Scotland and potentially others.

Without any promotion-relegation system, this second division is going to be useless. Essentially this is going to be a continuation of the Intercontinental Cup (which was abandoned in 2017 due to pressure from the big 3). I would rather suggest 4 divisions in test cricket, each with 4 teams each. Right now, it makes no sense for India or Australia to play a test match against teams such as Sri Lanka or Bangladesh.

1309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 25 arrested after Rab busts mini casino in Ashulia!! on: April 25, 2021, 01:50:07 PM
There are certain vices which can't be banned. I am talking about gambling, porn, prostitution, weed.etc. Here in India, all of them are banned. But at the same time, all of them are readily available in every nook and corner of this country. The only ones to benefit from the ban are politicians and cops, who receive huge amounts of bribe in the form of "protection money". Illegal casinos and brothels are being operated by criminals, with tacit help from politicians and policemen.
1310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I die can someone achieve my btc. on: April 25, 2021, 01:38:00 PM
For my part, I haven't shared the private keys or backup of my wallets to anyone. It is not due to the fact that I don't trust my wife or other relatives. But the real reason is that they don't have enough technological expertise to understand the concept of Bitcoin. There are a few distant relatives who have sufficient knowledge about cryptocurrency, but I don't trust them. So for now, I am stuck in dilemma on how to deal with this issue.
1311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 25, 2021, 01:25:59 PM
I was just watching the over with awe. Jadeja just single handedly destroyed the RCB bowling.
Ravindra Jadeja single handedly destroyed Royal Challengers Bangalore with the bat scoring 62 from 28 balls and when bowling he picked up three wickets and one direct hit run out and bowled economically. I thought it was going to be a good match up as two of the strong teams were battling but CSK dominated the match and they only need to pick 3 more wickets to win the match.

He has picked three wickets as well (4-1-13-3), and that too of some of the most important RCB batsmen - Washington Sundar, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers. Difficult to believe how the much turned out in the end, as we had RCB at 54/1 after 5 overs. The spinners made the difference for CSK. Ravindra Jadeja and Imran Tahir have combined figures of 8-1-29-5. RCB are now 103/9. CSK just one wicket away from a win.
1312  Economy / Economics / Re: Janet Yellen to call for unified global corporate tax rate on: April 25, 2021, 01:13:08 PM
The reason for banning corporate rates is that it is difficult to attract investment if corporate rates are high. Entrepreneurs in this country have to pay a large part of their income as tax however the rate at which middle-income countries have reduced corporate taxes over the past three decades has made it easier to do business but here corporate tax is used to increase revenue. So even though there is talk of reducing corporate taxes before the budget every year the national board of revenue backs down every time.

For the governments, it is a very difficult decision to make. Here in India, the corporate taxes used to be around 35%-40% a few years ago. After the right-wing government came to power, it was reduced to 25%. Obviously this resulted in a lot of companies shifting their manufacturing units from China to India and the creation of a large number of employment opportunities. But still, reducing corporate tax alone is not enough. Foreign investors claim that the issue of corruption/red-tape is much worse in India when compared to the situation in China.
1313  Economy / Economics / Re: Bangladesh Bank will not leave any digital currency in the market on: April 25, 2021, 01:01:03 PM
No one is late in accepting crypto currencies if they accept it now. The governments and the banks have to see the bigger picture when they need to decide about the adoption of bitcoin and crypto currencies. Lack of knowledge will result in wrong decision which may cost a lot in the future. Just a note that you cannot stop money laundering if you put a ban on crypto, the money laundering can still continue with fiat currencies too.

Unfortunately, in the third world countries, it is very easy for the governments to fool the population. If they want to ban something, they will just make some imaginary connection between that target and money laundering or terrorism. If anyone voices his opposition, then that individual will be branded as a terrorist or a tax evader. But nowadays, social media has made this more difficult for the government. When the Indian government proposed to make possession of Bitcoin a criminal offense, there was a lot of outcry in the social media and they had to put that proposal on hold.
1314  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 32% drop in the value of shares of Coinbase after the fall in the price of Bitc on: April 25, 2021, 12:49:05 PM
We all know that the price of the Coinbase shares was going to be hyped and that the price would be inflated when they went public. Why is this such a shock to people that there are a correction now?

The inflated price just meant that the traders would cash in on an opportunity to take quick profits. Yes, the BTC price went down and it has a slight impact on the Coinbase share price.. but it would have happened, even if the price of BTC skyrocketed.

Just wait it out... it will pick up again.  Wink  (BTC is not the only token that are listed on Coinbase)

Nowadays most of the tech IPOs are heavily overpriced, and the situation with Coinbase was no different. The P/E is around 180, and the fair valuation would be much lower than that. Also, I have a feeling that they could have gone for the IPO, rather than direct listing. From what I heard, the under-writers were not ready to give them such a huge valuation, and that's the reason they went ahead with the direct listing. It maybe monetarily rewarding for the promoters, but at the same time it will do harm to Coinbase's reputation in the long term.
1315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: April 25, 2021, 12:37:26 PM
5th day and virtually no support for any bowlers, there is nothing on the pitch for the bowler and every bowler looking helpless against the batters at Pallekele, so can't blame the Bangladesi or Sri lankan bowlers for not turning up in this match. Next test match is also schedule here.  Undecided

I don't understand why they prepare such tracks. Two innings completed in 5 days. A total of 450 overs were bowled and the total number of wickets that fell stands at 17. Matches such as this one are partially responsible for the death of test cricket. Imagine someone spending 5 days to watch this match, only to witness a draw in the end. The only positive from this match was a few individual records added for some of the batsmen.
1316  Economy / Economics / Re: China to overtake the Us as the largest global economy by 2028? on: April 25, 2021, 12:25:08 PM
No doubt they would. They are invading other countries natural resources, they sell original as well as fake products, all kind of shits are already there and they are selling it to the world. Who could fight that kind of strong manpower unless sanctions are applied due to their greediness, no country could match their economic growth.

China is a country of 1.4 billion people and no other country can compete with them in terms of raw manpower. And also, China is not a country which is sinking in federal debt (unlike the case with the United States and most of the European countries). This means that they have the resources to make investments in other countries. Obviously for the third world nations in Africa and South Asia, the funds offered by China looks like a very attractive option.
1317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Participants Only] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: April 25, 2021, 12:13:26 PM
Coming to today's matches, I am expecting CSK to break RCB's streak and SRH to win against Delhi.

RCB looks to be in such terrific form, and it will be very difficult for CSK to beat them. But at the same time, I have to admit that CSK looks like a team reborn. Anyone remember their condition during the last year's tournament (at least during the first half)? The addition of Raina has made a huge difference, on top of good performances by du Plessis and Chahar. For the second match, I agree. Delhi just looks hapless. I won't be surprised if they get the wooden spoon this time.
1318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 25, 2021, 12:01:08 PM
I also believe that Pakistan should win this final match and i have also placed the bet on them. The reason being that i don't think Pakistan team can lose two matched in a row with a weak team like Zimbabwe. I hope that upset wont happen today.

At this point it can go either way.

Zimababwe needs another 57 runs to win from 5 overs. The advantage for them is that they still have 7 wickets in hand, and two set batsmen are at crease (Brendan Taylor and Regis Chakabva). And also, a few experienced big hitters will be coming next - Sean Williams and Ryan Burl. If Zimbabwe manages to win this match (and thereby the series), it is going to be really huge for them.

BTW, Harshal Patel conceded 37 runs from a single over against the CSK.  Grin
1319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Give reasons why ETH is better than BSC on: April 23, 2021, 06:01:18 AM
At present until ETH 2.0 is impelemented, Binance smart chain is a better choice for both traders and developers. The transaction fee is negligible and the speed of processing transacions is far ahead of that ETH

You need to understand that ETH 2.0 is a delaying tactic. The developers have no interest in lowering the transaction fee. I am hearing these sort of statements every two weeks or so for the last one year, and the gas fees seems to be going up with every passing month rather than decreasing. Now the latest statement is that the gas fee will get lower after the London hard fork (EIP 1559), but I am skeptical about this one as well. Tall claims are being made about this hard fork, but I will believe them only when I see a change in the ground situation.
1320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you still hodling that shitcoin? on: April 23, 2021, 05:33:55 AM
I still have a few such as KickToken, eBitcoin, WPP, Veil, BitSend and Denarius in my wallet. These coins and tokens looked very promising back in 2017/18. But now they are worthless and having zero trade volume. I am still holding them because moving them to an exchange and selling them will cost more than their actual worth. And despite the recent altcoin bull rally, none of these shitcoins are showing any signs of recovery.  Grin
