1361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Foundation on: October 01, 2012, 06:53:08 AM
i would love that the foundation makes a commitment to not define "tainted coins".

if the majority of bitcoin-businness agress to mtgox definition of tainted coins (and - as mtgox does - not providing a way to see if you have tainted coins - i would definitly leave bitcoin)
1362  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundation Membership on: September 28, 2012, 11:59:12 AM
you compare us wealth to foundation members?

No! Take a closer look.

sorry... i still dont get it.
please enlighten me Wink
1363  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundation Membership on: September 28, 2012, 11:44:52 AM
US wealth distribution:
10% of US citizens own 70.9% of all US assets
  • 1 Top 1% own 38.1%
  • 2 Top 96-99% own 21.3%
  • 3 Top 90-95% own 11.5%
-
  • Bottom 40% of population has 0.2% of all wealth.

Compared to:
The Bitcoin Foundation Membership dues
  • 1 Platinum: 10,000 BTC (Top 1%?)
  • 2 Gold: 2,500 BTC
  • 3 Silver: 500 BTC
  • No denotation: 2.5 BTC (Bottom?)

- Feel free to make up your own mind.

you compare us wealth to foundation members?
whats the point?

you can compare us wealth distribution to bitcoin wealth distribution
you can compare us gov (means politicians, influence, lobbyist etc) to foundation members.
1364  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OPEN LETTER to Donald, Patrick & Amir RE: Bitcoinica on: September 28, 2012, 07:34:41 AM
We do know that Zhou had access to the database during the original refund process so it's possible that Tihan or Zhou had a complete copy of it.  we know that Zhou has at least a partial user list because he used it to spam Bitcoinica users about NameTerrific.

I filed a claim on day one, but never received Zhou's infamous "I-swear-it-wasn't-me" mail, so I don't think the claims db was his source.

eh?
do you mean you filled a claim and did not have a bitcoinica account?

if you want mods to move offtopic posts you should've said so in the first post (local thread rules).
1366  Economy / Securities / Re: Unofficial Bitdaytrade deposit claims thread on: September 27, 2012, 01:04:00 PM

1367  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TYGRR.BOND-P 4.85% weekly uninsured pass though bond to BTCST on: September 26, 2012, 02:22:00 PM
From what i have gathered these assests have been delisted due to them being illegal, is that correct?

Are goats Assets more illegal than the other PPT's or Are the other PPT's going to being delisted for the same reason?

No. It was because goat created a  threat to glbse somehow and had to be removed.

i see two possibilites:

 - goat said nefario scammed him because he wanted to "steal" his glbse shares (this has nothing to do with glbse directly)
 - maybe nefario did phone sec and feared the outcome of all ppt. (i dont believe this one, because other ppts are still there; though not traded [afaik])

for me it seems that nefario (as a person) just dont like goat.
1368  Economy / Securities / Re: Selling 17500 shares of GLBSE (actual shares) on: September 26, 2012, 09:24:35 AM
nefario said that bitcoins are no money and that he wants to do a simple company registration.
i dont know what his current plans are - but i am (still) interested in the outcome.

1369  Economy / Securities / Re: TYGRR.* assets on GLBSE delisted. on: September 26, 2012, 09:08:41 AM
Where did I say, that the exit strategy will be set in stone because the issuer says so? He still has to stay by his contract (so nobody gets shares stolen, no profit for the issuer by saying shareholder have to do as he says). But he could buyback shares according to contract or make arrangements with another exchange (for example.)

you are right.
even if glbse delist his asset the issuer still has to honor his contract.
its just not easy to see if he really does.

Still better than Nefario just hitting a Killswitch

1370  Economy / Securities / Re: TYGRR.* assets on GLBSE delisted. on: September 26, 2012, 08:58:51 AM

what i dont like about this is:
 - whoever sees that message first (this includes bond issuer) has the opportunity to sell all at a (relative) high price

that's why before publishing such message there usually will be a suspension of trading for half or one day in the traditional exchange.

this could work,

but what stops the issuer to simply say "operation closed" (of course: if he has a buyback clause this wouldnt work, but without it seems to be a good way for easy money)?
1371  Economy / Securities / Re: TYGRR.* assets on GLBSE delisted. on: September 26, 2012, 08:51:33 AM
I personally have no problem that GLBSE delists some assets. IMO, they even have to delist some assets.

I only have a problem with they way this was handled. This seems really unprofessional.

A Professional solution would have been (could still be) (IMO, of course):

  • Notify Goat that his assets will be delisted, give him one week time to work out a exit strategy.
  • After that week make a public notification or a user notification on GLBSE, with a link to a thread where Goat has a chance to present his exit strategy
  • Give him at least 3 Weeks Time for his exit

Why has this to be done so suddenly?
This precedent that any asset could be kicked of immediately, if the issuer just pissed you off enough may give some people a uneasy feeling.

what i dont like about this is:
 - whoever sees that message first (this includes bond issuer) has the opportunity to sell all at a (relative) high price
 - if someone does not want to sell his assets they are stolen

this could even be used to scam people.

open a ponzi like asset
wait for glbse to close it
profit for bond issuer because he decided his exit strategy is "people: sell all of your shares"

i dont think there should be any way a market place can delist an asset EXCEPT no one (except issuer) holds shares.

35BTC

That today shall be known from now on, as the official Satoshi N Day.

To celebrate, we use the network with gratitude.

Mining since april 09.

Maria.

why dont you have a scammer tag yet for trying to scam bitcoinica out of a few thousand btc?
1375  Economy / Services / Re: [ANNOUNCE] TORwallet - anonymous mixing wallet service on: September 26, 2012, 06:06:16 AM
Is there a list of "fat shared wallets" ? Sort of a list of where you can possibly mix your coins? I understand there are paid ones (like this TORwallet and blockchain also has one) but there are free alternatives, or almost free, or maybe possibly free, like MtGox.

Off the top of my head, I can think of Silk Road (but I have never gone there, and I don't think I would want to.) and many of the online wallets, like instawallet or blockchain or blockexplorer wallet.

I think MtGox might be ok for low number of bitcoins. I have less than 200, so I don't even reach their daily limit.

i think glbse is a good choice for this
i always send my coins through glbse if i dont know where there are from (i still think mtgox needs an api to check if they would accept the coins beforehand...i just hate their "close account and verify"-policy)
1376  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nefario GLBSE on: September 25, 2012, 10:17:51 AM
You might not be up to date but Nefario delisted all of my assets, closed my GLBSE account, took my shares and has my BTC.

if he keeps your btc thats simply stealing and he deserves a scammer tag.

but: i dont believe he plan to keep them. nefario sometimes acts a little strange but i am sure he wont steal.
1377  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Requests Input on: September 25, 2012, 08:46:11 AM
... credible, verifiable individuals to be flown here to KC sometime ...

Why not contact people from e.g. tomshardware.com, wired.com or computerbase.de? Or from c't (very reputable German computer magazine, always keen to test/experiment with new hardware gimmicks).

In addition, it would be nice story for them - and promotion for the Bitcoin community.

i'd love if c't (or iX) would make an article about bfl!
1378  Economy / Securities / Re: TYGRR.* assets on GLBSE delisted. on: September 25, 2012, 07:50:11 AM
why was my balance/info given away to goat ? I hold some shares in tygrr , now i am being forced to contact goat to get my dividends (i dont talk to goat)

maybe give goat 3 months to close and delist his assets

+1

Nefario, I've been using GLBSE since day 1. I'm happy that GLBSE has become such a success, and I believe that your dependable character has been the most important factor.

This de-listing action is the first thing that really put me off from the platform. I can understand how an asset issuer can become a liability, but you are responsible for my convenience. I understand that Goat is still the owner of his company and needs to answer to his shareholders, but you are the one forcing me to spare my time and attention to something that I didn't ask for. If given notice, I would have traded my shares for probably much less than they should be worth, but I would still prefer that to dealing with this.

Besides, if the price was low enough, I could have bought a huge portion of the company that would make dealing with the situation worth my time. Maybe I could have arranged something totally different with the issuer about the payments.

You have taken this opportunity away, and in affect caused damage to your customers.

as i already said:
nefario does what nefario thinks is right (which is not always a bad thing; actually i like people who act this way. but NOT as an exchange operator).

this is only the first action which causes harm to share holders - all others only harmed issuers.

1379  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: September 25, 2012, 06:49:45 AM
Short version? The only people who got anything back were a very few close personal friends of the insiders who destroyed this "company". It has now been sent into receivership by the latest candidate for owner, although nothing has been forthcoming about what the receiver will be doing in the past 5 weeks.

Quick resolution? Write it off. You will never see a damn thing from these criminals. They stole it all, and have created a master work of lies, deception, delays and obfuscation to cover their tracks. And avoid any dealings with the intersango gang, as they are the criminals behind this disaster.

i've got 50% of my btc back
and i am certainly NOT a friend of any of them..

but i only had 106btc and 100$ in my account. i got a payout about 53btc.

i still hope to get some back
