I had problems too. It seems as everything is working fine now. Maybe restart you device.

You restarted it and it's working fine??? Please make sure you have a backup!

I see this place is still a Nazi circlejerk, reporting the same government provided propaganda.

Shouldn't you at least change the thread title, though? There's no "way to Russia" any more, as even Russia doesn't want to annex the clusterfuck that the Eastern rebels have turned that place into.

I'm more concerned about the technology producing the entropy. I'm not really familiar with static RAM cell power states as a source of randomness, but hope that the technology was implemented correctly and is generating truly random numbers.

Besides using static RAM, we have also added the built-in RNG chip, and gate noise as sources of entropy. You can also add your own Diceware salt to it just to be doubly-sure, and it will print out a hash along with the paper wallet to prove that the salt was used correctly.
145  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: April 02, 2015, 07:57:11 PM
Looks like this tread is for android version only because iOS issues are rarely addressed here.

My suggestion: iOS developers should make separate iOS Mycelium thread and check the forum on regular basis when new releases are out.

iOS issues can be posted here too. There aren't that many of us that we need more than one thread, and everything related to iOS that's posted here gets relayed to our iOS dev too.
146  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: March 30, 2015, 07:44:55 PM
Mycelium Wallet (Android) 2.3 is out. Trezor support, and lots of new HD features!

Mycelium Wallet 2.3 is out of beta (still requires Android OS vs 4 or above). It includes the following new features and changes:

* Trezor support (cold-spending and Trezor-based accounts), from the Cold Storage spending menu.
*  You can now require a PIN to open the wallet (we had many requests for this)
* Support for Cold Storage spending from masterseed keys
* Support for importing xPriv/xPub keys
* Scanning xPub keys for receiving and balance check
* Paper wallet cold-spending now supports xPriv keys
* Number of confirmations is now shown in transaction details (we had requests to make this info some how available again)
* Updated translations (Thanks to all our translators!)

Neat thing about Masterseed Cold Storage spending (such as ones created by our Mycelium Entropy) is that it asks you for an optional password, and each password creates a completely different chain of keys. So you have have 0BTC in plain xPriv key, $1 worth in a generic password chain, and your actual money in a more secure password version, for plausible deniability, and just carry a copy of this key in your pocket for spending on the go, without having the key in your wallet.

As mentioned, Trezor support is accessible from Cold Storage option in the pop-up menu. Ledger support is in development now too. Next up will be adding some more privacy features, among other things.

Well Rassah is the winner. We're announcing early. We only got a few submissions. I think he set the bar too high with his initial entry.

Well. that's what I get for being a self-styled "Bitcoin Expert," spending hours a day almost every day for 4 years straight reading up on everything and everyone bitcoin related Cheesy

In before conspiracy theories come out:

Chainalasys VS Mycelium - The full story

Mycelium Wallets use our own custom nodes to process the bitcoin blockchain and scan for address balances. These nodes were written by Jan Møller while he was the Lead Developer, along with our other devs. The job of these nodes is to parse the 30 gig Blockchain database into our own custom database, which is much larger, being over 100 gigs in size, but which allows for very quick and easy lookup of address balances, allowing for instant balance lookups and to do things like Cold Storage spending from paper wallets and Trezor.

Mycelium's owner and developers believe in total financial privacy and personal freedom, and our company has a goal to make Mycelium Wallet the most anonymous wallet possible. For this reason, we have kept our wallet code completely open since the beginning, and have been public and open about what goes on internally in our company (I hope you have noticed my frequent updates, especially with the unfortunate Entropy delays). And even while Jan was still the lead dev, we have created LocalTrader to work completely anonymously, using only bitcoin signed messages for user authentication and encrypting all user chat P2P using their respective private keys so our servers receive no usable data. We have also added HD wallet support, and disabled all IP and transaction logging on our nodes. However, we also realize that just us claiming that we do that isn't good enough, and that's why we added full Tor support, and are in the process of implementing CoinJoin, which we hope to have enabled by default, so that even those who don't care about staying anonymous will help contribute. Our goal was to have Mycelium Wallet be as anonymous as Dark Wallet, and that has not changed.

Jan Møller, our lead developer who did most of the work on the nodes, realized that the node-parsed blockchain database can be used to analyze bitcoin transaction activity, and help track transactions in the same way that our current financial institutions do (although with much less certainty). So he decided to have his own project that does just that, and has split off from Mycelium company last October. We still kept him on as our chief technical consultant, since he did write most of the node and original wallet code, so he is technically still employed by Mycelium, but he has had no access to our nodes since he left. Our current full time lead developer is Andreas Petersson, who is working on implementing Coinapult Locks right now, and the other two developers are Jan Dreske (/u/trasla here) and Daniel Weigl, who have been adding support for Trezor, fixing bugs, adding minor requested features, etc.

We at Mycelium are not fans of what Chainalysis does, but we can't really object too much, because if something like this is even possible to do, then someone will do it, whether it's Jan's company or someone else. It's also preferable that this is done by a public company in the open, instead of in secret by a government agency. And secondly, since the developer behind this is someone who worked with us, we can at least get inside knowledge of what may be tracked and how by such systems, so we can be aware of what to watch out for and what to fix. Obviously it's not a guarantee that we will get an honest answer, but it's still better than nothing.

With regards to why our website's About section still lists Jan Møller as a Lead Developer, it's because our website dev has been working full time on another (secret) Mycelium project, and has not had the chance to change anything. I guess the site is too low of a priority to update. Note that both of our current top wallet developers who have been doing most of the work these past few months, Jan Dreske and Daniel Weigl, are completely missing from there too. I am sorry that I have not publicly stated anything about this either, but since Chainalysis is a completely separate company, Jan Møller has not had access to our internal systems since he became a consultant, and our internal goals are still total anonymity, there was no risk whatsoever to Mycelium or the privacy of our users from the Mycelium side. I have been fairly open about being an AnarchoCapitalist myself, supporting people like Cody Wilson and Ross Ulbricht, and supporting the idea of The four pillars of a decentralized society as explained by Johann Gevers to help decentralize government functions. So if there ever is a risk of Mycelium becoming a snooping agency, or if Mycelium changes its goals with regards to expanding personal freedom, I still promise to let the community know, sine there would be no way I would be willing to continue to work there if that happens.

I just submitted some more (a few obvious ones I somehow missed). Assuming I'm allowed to do whatever I want with the winnings and the 51% companion tickets, if I win, I would like to have the money that would be spent on my ticket and hotel be donated to Satoshi Forest instead (I know Jason King needs help), and would like to offer to buy the second place winner his ticket at the 51% discount (even if he goes through me). I will be at the conference anyway, at my own expense, probably with Mycelium swag.

Mycelium is back! http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2vro8y/mycelium_and_google_play_recap_of_what_happened/

On Tuesday, February 10, 2015, we received a note from Google in regards to our app, stating:

Quote
This is a notification that your application, Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet, with package ID com.mycelium.wallet, has been removed from the Google Play Store.
REASON FOR SUSPENSION: Violation of the paid and free provision of the Content Policy and section 3.5 of the Developer Distribution Agreement. Please refer to the Third Party Payments help center article for more information.

That particular section states:

Quote
3.5 You may also choose to distribute Products for free. If the Product is free, you will not be charged a Transaction Fee. You may not start charging a user for a Product that was initially free unless the charge correlates with an alternative version of the Product. The Payment Processor must process all fees a Developer receives for any version of a Product distributed via the Store.

Since that text is a bit vague, we were not sure exactly what it applied to in our wallet, and were guessing it was one of three things:
* LocalTrader fees
* Addition of the option to choose your bitcoin transaction fee that Google may have thought we charge
* Donation button

We requested for a more detailed explanation, and were told we would hear back within 72 hours.

On Thursday, February 12, 2015 we received a follow-up that stated the following:

Quote
We appreciate the opportunity to review your appeal.
Donations may only be collected within an app under specific conditions. The donation must be facilitated via a web browser, and any collection made through a secure payment system. Donations are only permitted for validated non-profit charitable organizations (for example, a validated 501(c)(3) charitable organization or the local equivalent). After a regular review, your app has been administratively suspended pending verification that you are an eligible and currently certified charitable organization.
In order for us to process your appeal, please attach a copy of your organization’s IRS determination letter or other acceptable proof in your reply to this notification. The provided information must indicate your status as a charitable organization.

Please be advised we will not be able to reinstate your application without the above documentation.

So, the issue turned out to be the donation button, which is the easiest thing to fix (we just remove the button), however, Google's stipulations of making us prove that we are a charity, "or else", made us think this would be very difficult to get out of. We replied with an explanation stating that

Quote
We were not aware of the fact that giving users an opportunity to donate to the developers is violating the agreement.
1) Bitcoin software is very sensitive to malware. If a software would imitate our brand and upload a backdoored version, users would unwillingly send money to it. This risk is partly mitigated by many links pointing to the existing package name https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycelium.wallet - if we would create a new app, users would not know that this is not a malicious version. If the application stays blocked, we might see someone taking advantage of the situation and uploading a fake version under a new ID, to trick users into thinking a it was provided by us.
2) Leaving users on old versions is a potential security risk for their bitcoins. We do need to provide security updates, like in the case of the SecureRandom bug. The Android Developers described the problem at. We are constantly in touch with the security community and were able to provide patched versions minutes after the disclosure of the 0-day exploit. If there would be a similar incident and we had users stuck on the old version, users on Android would be at risk.

This morning, Google replied letting us know that they have accepted our appeal and have reinstated our app. We have removed the donation buttons from all our versions (beta and final), and just as a precaution set the LocalTrader fees to 0% as well. Our wallet app should be back up on Google Play by now, and we are glad to have this episode behind us. If you are a developer too, please keep this donation thing in mind as well.

And finally, thank you very much for all the support we have received from our users!

trasla: It is irritating to keep seeing "Receiving 0.0013 BTC" on the Balance tab. I just want the 0.0013 transaction to be disappear. I still want other incoming transaction to be shown. Since it is not possible to full disable it.. I hope to see this feature in the next update.

If you disable showing all unconfirmed transactions, you won't see any transactions until 10 minutes later. Disabling individual transactions would add way too much complexity to the UI. So you'll just have to wait until it's confirmed, or completely rejected by the network. Sorry.

How long would it take for the network to reject the transaction?

Could be a week or more. Though it could also get included in a block within that time too.

Devs:
How do I find xpub key?
in the next beta version 2.2 which is planned in january.

Will this include the functionality to scan the xpub key from Trezor?

Very likely yes. The reason for adding xpub/xpriv support is to be able to spend from or watch balances of HD paper wallets created by Entropy.
156  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: January 21, 2015, 08:42:05 PM
ROFL! Dear god, the double-standards and bullshit in this threat are still incredible!  Grin I stopped reading this for a few months, and came back to check through them, and OMFG you guys are dumb. The Russia and Ukraine situation isn't even reported on in US. No one gives a shit. And it's extremely funny that all the news about things going on in Ukraine are only being reported by from Russian news sources, which, apparently, arent even allowed to go into Ukraine, or get killed there.

I would point out all the many ways in which the reports you idiots are posting ehre are contradictory, but it would take me half a day just to compile all of them.

Though for your dumbass benefit, the two ones that stand out the most are the quote

" A mere year ago.. Ukraine was a calm and peaceful nation, it had extremly good gas deals with Russia, buying the cheapest gas in Europe, it was about to get a 19 billion dollar loan and it was going to join the Eurasian economic zone.. All was well.."

which forgets the $100 BILLION stolen by Yanukovich and his gang, and the fact that credit ratings for countries don't change over a single year, and a bad rating is a signal of extremely bad past policies. What's happening in Ukraine economically is not the result of Maidan protests and Poroshenko, Maidan protests and Poroshenko is the result of what has been happening in Ukraine for years.

159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Do People Believe Bitcoin Will Replace Fiat? on: January 15, 2015, 05:26:57 AM
Bitcoin won't replace fiat as it's volatility makes it unsuitable for businesses as they work on tight margins.

Dollar backed currencies will be stable only as long as dollars stay stable, which isn't a guarantee. Things become more stable as they grow in total volume, and bitcoin is no exception. As for businesses working on  tight margins, that  won't matter if they do all their business in bitcoin and use bitcoin as their base unit of account. Who cares if bitcoin went down in value, if their cost is 10BTC and their revenue is 11BTC, they still made a 1BTC profit. The  dollar isn't stable either, having a volatility of up to 5% a week at times, but companies don't care either as long as the amount of dollars they bring in exceeds the amount they spend.
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Do People Believe Bitcoin Will Replace Fiat? on: January 15, 2015, 05:21:54 AM
Fiat will remain as long as we have sovereignties. The closest could be when a certain nation decides to issue their own alt coin.

How many folks are settling all their monthly/daily bills today in BTC ? The answer is probably zero. And its been six years already. Sixty years later there is only one way a human can settle all their daily/monthly bills in BTC >> the country they live in has issued their own alt coin which can't be BTC...unless they gained complete control of BTC.

Sovereignties don't control their currencies in the way you think. People only use their currencies as long as they don't break, or something better doesn't come along.

This should be required reading for this thread http://nakamotoinstitute.org/mempool/speculative-attack/
