There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING anyone can do to change the system or to fight God.

Uh, yeah there is. We stopped the practice of slavery and subjugating women that he commanded.

Sanctions is good. It will make russian people think.

No it will make Putin expand his aggression to maintain power  Smiley

So, according to you, this is the desired outcome for the USA that started those sanctions after they turned Ukraine into a basket case? Truly wise politicians are sitting in Washington...  Roll Eyes

I guess Liliputin is a fucking idiot then. USA allegedly starts something in Ukraine, Russia falls for it, going in guns blazing, and ends up in a trap, where everyone in the west hates them, China is wary of them, and their economy is in the shitter. What an idiot they have elected.

In fact these sanctions are targeted against EU, because EU losses are far worse than Russia's.

LOL! Are you claiming that the Euro will collapse more than 50, and Europe's GDP can be as low as -4% next year?  Grin

Unlike Russia, Europe has an economy, and a tech sector.

2.  Of course we're thinking now, but not as it was expected by Obama & his masters. Current thoughts are driven by Alexander Nevsky's statement: "Whoever comes to us with a sword, from a sword will perish". You know, the most of us didn't paid too much attention to U.S. But now we're beginning to think that your government is a cancer of humanity which should be eliminated in a violent manner. Say thank you to Obama for this.

That's funny, because US did not come to Russia with a sword. US didn't come to Russia with anything at all. Not a single US tank, jet, or soldier came anywhere near Russia. All US did was get a bunch of countries to shun Russia for being a bully, and not play with it any more, and Russia got so upset that no one wants to play with it that it's throwing tantrums and falling apart. And you guys are falling for it, thinking US is some big aggressor, and an evil enemy attacking poor Russia.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/11305146/The-week-the-dam-broke-in-Russia-and-ended-Putins-dreams.html

Quote
This was the week when the country’s long-festering crisis turned virulent. A last-ditch attempt to defend the exchange rate by raising interest rates to 17pc failed within hours, yet the shock is surely enough to set off a chain of corporate failures and push banks over the edge.

Traders in the City watched open-mouthed as the dam broke on Black Tuesday. The event exposed the awful reality that the Kremlin does not have the infinite foreign reserves that many had supposed. “What is happening is a nightmare that we could not even have imagined a year ago,” says the central bank’s deputy chief, Sergei Shvetsov.

The currency has since stabilised at 60 to the dollar. But it has lost half its value in a year. Russia’s $2.1 trillion (£1.3 trillion) economy has shrunk to $1.1 trillion, half the GDP of California.
The external debt of Russian banks and companies has by mathematical effect ballooned to 70pc of total output. “A Russian downgrade to junk is only a matter or time,” says Tim Ash, from Standard Bank.

“The crisis is suddenly filtering into people’s daily lives,” says Bill Browder from Hermitage. “55pc of consumer goods in Russia are imported and these are doubling in price. People are buying anything they can that keeps its value.”  (reminds me of the Soviet rubble collapse)

Vedomisti reports that there is a de facto run on banks as depositors pull what they can from ATM machines, fearing the guillotine at any moment. Soviet queues are appearing again.

Those scrambling to buy cars may have missed their chance. Jaguar Land Rover has halted sales to Russia. So has General Motors, citing “rouble volatility”. The big three dealerships - Transtekhservice, Major Auto, and Avilon - have frozen sales.

As the buying frenzy subsides, the eerie stillness of depression may instead take hold. The central bank says the economy could contract by 4.7pc next year if oil prices settle at $60 a barrel, but that was before the rate shock. BNP Paribas says each 100-basis point rise cuts 0.8pc off GDP a year later. Rates have risen 750 points in a week.

“It’s going to be worse than the default crisis in 1998. This time you have a situation where the West is against them,” says Browder. “Russian companies are shut out of the global capital markets. The country can’t turn to the IMF because Washington will block it. There is no lender of last resort.”

Guess no investing in rubbles or buying cars and property. Russia better come out with those black swans they have been threatening soon! Of course...

The White House says Putin can reverse the process at any time by implementing the Minsk ceasefire deal agreed three months ago. “The aim is to sharpen the choice that he faces,” it says.

... but we all know Putin won't do that:

Quote
“The issue is not Crimea. We are protecting our sovereignty and our right to exist,” he says.

which is funny, because that's PRECISELY what is being done to Russia. Russia is allowed to exist all sovereign, on it's own, without anyone pressuring it in any way. But also without anyone collaborating in any way. And it looks like Russia, alone on its own, is falling.

And this is just sad:

Quote
Russia ranks 136 for road quality, 126 for the ability of firms to absorb technology, 124 for availability of the latest technology, 120 for the burden of government regulation, and 105 for product sophistication, in the World Economic Forum’s index of competitiveness.

The curtain (iron?) is being pulled back, to reveal that the great and prosperous Russia isn't really all it has been claiming to be.

Good news on the iDevices release!

I don't have one to test, but it seems some functions like Local Trader are not supported yet. Is this a Apple T&C issue? Or just a delay?

Just a delay. The iOS devs haven't gotten to it yet
206  Other / Off-topic / Re: I know there is no such thing as 'free energy' but what if it was possible? on: December 21, 2014, 09:50:33 AM

I watched this documentary about a European engineer (I think Romanian) who invented an electrical generator, that uses the Earth graviational field to produce 200W of electricity. All materials used were basic - rotors, weights, dynamos etc.

This is called a dam.  Tongue

No. A dam uses water, not gravity and costs billions. This thing you can make yourself and uses no external fuel or another costly force to run. But it's not surprising that there is lack of funding for this kind of inventions.

So why don't you make it yourself?

You're asking the wrong question. At whose expense am I sauntering down the street? Depends on the situation.

OK, at whose expense are you sauntering down the street, and how does this sauntering apply to " possibly enrich themselves at the expense of others"?

Who owns the raw material? You control the private keys; you don't own them.

OK, then who owns the raw materials, and who owns the bitcoins I control?
209  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sanction against Russia for West-choreographed conflict in Ukraine on: December 21, 2014, 09:25:54 AM
Don't mind him. Rassah is another one, who is hopelessly stuck in the 1950's in USSR. For him the time does not move forward. I feel sorry for him...

The fuck are you talking about? I wasn't even alive in 1950's, and I only lived in USSR in the 80's. Do you mean that I'm stuck in thinking that Russia is acting like 1950's USSR, when it's really not?

terroristic forces of Kiev

 Grin Roll Eyes

By the way, sanctions... what sanctions?

US Company to Buy Rocket Engines from Russia worth $1bn
http://russia-insider.com/en/2014/12/17/1957

That deal may still be denied by US Congress, the engines they do buy will be severely underpriced due to ruble collapse, and $1bn is nothing compared to the $40bn Russia is losing from sanctions this year.

Permabull here, certainly not extinct. Just on a looooong break from the forum because of all the trolls, I have so many people on ignore it's hardly worth reading anything.

Ignoring the advice of your betters is exactly what got you into this pitiable state.

But he's not ignoring the advice of his betters. He's continuing to invest, just like we suggested. He's only ignoring the advice of morons like you.
211  Other / Off-topic / Re: Pictures from Russia. NSFW!!! on: December 21, 2014, 09:13:26 AM

Dr. Roberts:  “I was listening to the news today and there were all these self-righteous people just happy as all get out that they had finally stomped Russia into the ground and ‘Russia is now finished,’ and Russia was broken and ‘would soon be an American vassal state where it belongs.'  And I was listening to this rot and got to thinking, ‘How can people be so utterly stupid?’  But they are, and they are just as stupid in Washington.

And in the meantime, as part of this process, Eric, we may see Russia unleash black swans that bring down the Western house of cards….

Russia is like North Korea, using America like The Great Devil to scare its own people and give them an enemy to hate. America doesn't give a shit about Russia, and most Americans don't even know anything about what's going on in Russia, other than that there's something between them and Ukraine. Hell, this whole situation was just Russia starting shit in Ukraine, America pretty much ignoring all of it until some Ukrainian groups and politicians pressed to do something, almost half a year later, and America finally did the bare minimum of responses: banned its own people and companies from doing business with what they believe to be a bad actor. That's it. And America still doesn't really care about what's going on in Russia, but that little bit of action was apparently enough to topple Russia's economy.

America isn't an aggressor. Russia is just a tiny bug that was being a bit annoying, America waved its arm around, and accidentally swatted it without even noticing it.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's brave/stupid enough to invest their life savings into Bitcoin? on: December 21, 2014, 09:04:53 AM
Investing in bitcon still kinda strange idea for me. It's unpredictable.

You better start using bitcoin as money. Sell stuff and services for bitcoins. Just use it as currency. Same as dollars/euro etc

And save bitcoins. If expect them to rise in price.
Maybe once the difficulty goes up and the adoption phase happens,
only then can we say that the price would not be as volatile as it is now.
That would be the best time to get in.

What does the difficulty going up have to do with anything?

If the fifth kid is a girl, the guy is screwed - no more balance. 4 Russian women against 3 Russian men. Ouch.

It is OK. In Russia, balance is restored with vodka and beatings.
215  Other / Off-topic / Re: Pictures from Russia. NSFW!!! on: December 21, 2014, 08:50:18 AM

Man, I feel really bad for Russian people right now  Undecided

Food in shops have 10% inflation.
And who will invest $ or € in Russian items is a good time for it.

Only if you think foreigners robbing the sellers of those items by paying them 10% to 50% less for them is a good time.

Go buy some roubles while they are cheap Smiley)

Are you nuts? Rubble isn't done falling, and it may not recover. At this point it's so bad that the currency may collapse and a new one will have to be issues avail, like a decade ago.

Better to buy some property.

Are you nuts? Who do you think the broke Russian government will go after when business collapse and can't pay enough tax revenue to support it? Not only would I be worried about high property taxes, but about Russia confiscating and nationalizing property to get back to the good old days of Soviet communism, since "capitalism" doesn't seem to work for them (when everyone at the top is stealing everything).
216  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: December 21, 2014, 06:18:25 AM
-Import watch-only bip32/bip44 public master keys

We don't even have that in our Android version yet. We're still deciding how to implement it, and will probably release it when we release support for HD wallets in Entropy.

-Export an encrypted backup to icloud, or dropbox or box.net

That probably won't happen, since we now support 12 word style seeds that must be written down. Encrypted backups have caused issues, with people losing their backups, or losing their passwords.

In Norway, companies drilling for North Sea oil pay a 78% tax rate on income...

Omg that is monstruos, no wonder why the oil markets are tanking, these idiot bureocrats just never learn from their mistakes.

FYI, most of that tax money is going into a HUGE fund that Norway is saving up for when they run out of oil. They know they won't be able to sustain their oil funded social programs for long, especially once the oil runs out, so they are saving a whole lot of money into a fund that they hope will be able to sustain them for long after.

Ah, found the name and wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_Pension_Fund_of_Norway#The_Government_Pension_Fund_Global
219  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is a Madmax outcome coming before 2020? Thus do we need anonymity? on: December 18, 2014, 04:38:43 AM
What is coming is much more subtle slavery. The only way to permanently enslave people is when they don't realize they are enslaved. Those who are awake will feel the world is in some sort of Stepford Wives zombie, deluded blissful state.

So, basically the entirety of what Soviet Union was.
220  Other / Off-topic / Re: I know there is no such thing as 'free energy' but what if it was possible? on: December 18, 2014, 04:20:29 AM
There was never a time everybody believed the Earth was flat, ever.

Perhaps you should tell Wikipedia that. And historians studying ancient Greece, India, and China. That whole "earth is a disk on the backs of three elephants, who are on the back of a turtle" wasn't just some recently made up joke made to poke fun of stupid people.

Finally, the M&M experiment (the erroneous attempt at detecting the æther) has been debunked.

Yep. They thought they proved existence of aether, but their method was flaws and not very precise. Luckily we had plenty of other experiments since then, using much more sensitive and more advanced tools http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelson%E2%80%93Morley_experiment#Subsequent_experiments

Still no aether.

Here, let me spoon feed you some logic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4Tnq564LlU

Wow, this guy spends 95% of the time philosophizing, and 5% of the time explaining that the experiment was wrong, because the stone slab that the experiment was performed on is traveling through the aether, and thus would be affected by it. But then we have two outcomes:
  • The stone slab, along with lasers, was "squished" in the direction of travel, which we can test for by measuring the length of one of its edges turned into the direction of travel, and turned 90 degrees. Since light speed is a constant, we can use it to make a precise measuring tool of fixed length that doesn't change based on whether it's traveling into aether, or parallel to it, just by timing the photon as it exists a laser and returns back after hitting a mirror. Since there's no squish effects like that in the universe, there is no aether.
  • Since aether squishes everything equally in the direction things travel through, and it's impossible to detect it due to that, then aether has no measurable effect on our universe, at least not one we can detect with any of our tools, instruments, or experiments. If aether has no measurable effect, then it's a concept no more useful to physics than god.
