1401  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Violating its TOS and Possible Laws depending on country of Origin on: September 21, 2012, 03:30:53 PM
...

Alberto agreed to have his information released in the event of him scamming or running off with the funds invested when he verified, I would not have made the information public otherwise.
...

You should post the agreement to having his personal information released then no one could question you releasing the documents.

releasing personal info...i dont see ANY sense in it.

give it to the police: but never to a public forum...

imagine you are ill, get to a hospital... and an angry mob burned down your house

NO THANKS
1402  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Violating its TOS and Possible Laws depending on country of Origin on: September 21, 2012, 02:07:31 PM
Not sure what the fuss is all about in this particular case.

Nefario stated that Alberto had agreed, when he provided the ID documents, that they could be released if he scammed or disappeared with investor's funds.  If Alberto agreed to this then it has nothing to do with the TOS of GLBSE: Alberto has every entitlement to waive one of the rights he would otherwise have under his agreement with GLBSE.

If Nefario had released the ID documents of someone WITHOUT them having agreed to it, then that would be an entirely different matter.

Remember that the TOS of GLBSE are a contract that you enter into with them when you use the site.  As with an ycontract its terms can be variede with the agreement of both parties to it.  In Alberto's case, Nefario has stated that they varied the contract such that (under certain circumstances) the personal details of Alberto could be released.  Alberto did NOT have the same agreement with GLBSE after that as everyone else (by default) has.

If you want to look at things like the Data Protection Act and other related legislation in the UK (where GLBSE/nefario are based) then you'll find that they only deal with the handling/distribution of data WITHOUT the consent of the other party to whom the data pertains.  In this case Nefario has said he had Alberto's consent to release the information in these circumstances.

Obviously if you believe Nefario is lieing about Alberto having agreed to the release of his ID in the event of his scamming/running with funds then that's slightly different.  But I'm not seeing any posts from Alberto claiming that to be the case - have I missed them somewhere?  Or do you have some other reason to believe Nefario is lieing about that?

i am not sure if thats enough.
if nefario had asked alberto "may i release your information now?" -> all good.

but what court has said that alberto has scammed funds? nefario's word and the opinion of this community is not legally binding.
1403  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Proposal to help stop thieves on: September 21, 2012, 01:34:14 PM
I look forward to the day when the clients or protocols are "fixed" to make all transactions fully anonymous by default, if only so that any proposals to trace/block coins quickly get shut down as technically impossible.

+1
atm i cant imagine how this would work but i would really like it Wink

i just hope that more people see bitcoins like gold: you just dont have any chance to see the route the gold has taken until it reached you.

the whole idea about "good" or "bad" bitcoins is just crazy

edit: bad typo
1404  Economy / Securities / Re: New Asset idea, Cambodian rice sharecropping (2% to 5% a year) Feedback wanted! on: September 21, 2012, 01:05:08 PM
its not that expensive to open a coorp. (as far as i understood nefario glbse does not fall under any money regulation laws)
main problem are taxes (and the paperwork) Wink

i see it as a mayor step for bitcoin itself. it would gain trust by many people and could attract real investors.

we are there if the next facebook considers glbse for their ipo Wink

1405  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Violating its TOS and Possible Laws depending on country of Origin on: September 21, 2012, 11:21:00 AM
afaik nefario/glbse is hosted in UK.
EU has good privacy laws which prohibit sharing of any ID information.

if nefario has a problem with a scammer he HAS TO inform the police and give the id to them.

btw: nefario: whats the progress about getting a registered company in UK?

the official answer from BFL_Josh was that he would leave if it would be a scam.
as he didn't leave: it is answered.

Not good enough.

Also, what about the other guy which (was ?) involved in 25M fraud ?

not good enough != not answered
would there be any answer you would accept? i guess no.

1408  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Great Silk Road Crash of 20** ...? on: September 20, 2012, 04:56:49 PM
can anyone explain how an entire site can exist inside TOR?  I mean I read that it's like a fake TLD that's correctly translated but wouldn't the creators of the TOR software have to manually code the software to accept and properly route fake TLDs?  So pull the plug on that idiotic feature!  I'm still not convinced they designed it that way in the first place but I can't imagine how else someone could set up a website that exists only in TOR and have it actually work.

Btw with all the 3rd party code and direct to browser scripts and FTP operations and stuff, any web server sitting only in the TOR network would get identified and found out in like a day.  So if those idiots think they're safe, they're not.

try it Wink
i bet you wont get their public ip...
1409  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Great Silk Road Crash of 20** ...? on: September 20, 2012, 03:31:16 PM
i guess its just a matter of time. but i dont care Wink
would be an opportunity for cheap coins
1410  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My bitfloor account... what can I do? on: September 20, 2012, 03:28:23 PM
afaik they are trying to recover bitfloor.

but i doubt you'll get much for it.

the CEO of bfl has prooved he delivers (see their fpgas).
i dont care about his history. everybody has a chance to change himself.

i am still looking forward to my - really early ordered - bfl asic Cheesy

Picture you're a clever scammer. You have a choice, you could select to scam for 1 mill USD, or pull off a larger scam and secure 5 mill USD.

So, you could promise FPGAs, secure 1 mill in upfront funding, and run, or you could do the same, but first deliver the FPGAs, then secure another 6 mill USD for Asics, then fail to deliver..

People can change, for sure, personally I would never hire a person convicted of financial fraud for a financial position, and if a company hires a person convicted for financial fraud, as the manager and having access to the company assets, that doesn't run well with the public.

This being said, I haven't looked into the allegations, and can't vote for their accuracy. There's competitors to BFL as well, so if anyone wants to tarnish their image, we don't know.

(don't take what I say at face value - just some thoughts)

if i would try to scam somebody i would take the money and run as fast as i can.
at the beginning nobody knew who bfl ist. now there are names and details... i think its just to late for them to run away.

but: i am only good at getting scammed, not at detecting scams. so: who knows...

Are you seriously comparing the difficulty of delivering a fpga to the one of delivering an asic???
For the FPGA you just need to make a bitstream.
For the ASIC...you need to design the chip from scratch, you need to invest millions to make the masks and actually start producing it. Good luck.

no i dont compare the difficulty of producing asics to fpgas.
but if he wanted to run i suspect he had did it with their fpga preorders.

The long con is more profitable.

sure; but i still believe them.

i'll just leave this here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108325.msg1176847#msg1176847

1415  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think that there is something funny about BFL's new ASIC on: September 20, 2012, 12:18:19 PM
Seems like all these so-called asics producers want your money before they even have produced a single asic-miner at all? And if you do not get involved now, either way you never get one that will pay itself back in a reasonable time, or will have to pay almost double the pre-order price when waiting.

it was the same with their fpga's and they did deliever.
i am not afraid Wink
1416  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Satoshi did minting RIGHT on: September 20, 2012, 08:17:10 AM
As we know Satoshi decided to halve the block reward every ~4 years which leads to something of a ponzi-like early distribution. Morally I don't think there is anything wrong with this:

why is the distribution ponzi-like?

ponzi would imply that any investment is used to pay old investments. which is not true.

what you (probably) meant: early investors gets more. thats ok as they took/take a huge risk.

btw: last winter the difficulty was lower than the summer before that.

Package python-twisted-8.2.0-3.1.el6.noarch already installed and latest version

Looks like your platform don't have newer version of tsited? What the hell is el6?

Btw it should work with older version of twisted as well, after I fixed the bug itself. Give it a try.

el6 -> CentOs6

i really feel ashamed that so many try to hunt down the family

I'm sure the family will feel far more ashamed when their prodigal son is doing the perp walk to the showers in prison.

MAYBE its ok when one (reasonable) person talks to them and explains the situation - only if there is no other way to sue pirate (btw. there are other ways: just hire a lawyer).

but its not ok to publish their contact data on a public forum. esp. bitcointalk: way to many childish gun advocates here Wink

they have nothing to do with this situation. trendon is an adult.

i havent talked to my parents for about ten years: if i would do something similar: why should you talk with them? they wouldn't even care.

Warning: Moderators do not remove likely scams. You must use your own brain: caveat emptor. Watch out for Ponzi schemes. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose.

Thats part of the freedom of speech of course and I fully support!, but....
Moderators and administrators with their special powers are not accountable when profiting from proven scams???

proven scam != likely scam
1420  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Searching alternative client... on: September 19, 2012, 01:20:37 PM
Hello,

im searching an alternative client that has the following settings:

* Way faster synchronizing than the original client. It takes hours to update when you didnt have the wallet open some days. I really dont like that. I now have the client open for hours and it still hasnt loaded 6 days of blocks. I hadnt open the client 12 days. And the blockchain is really big as a file. But for that there isnt an alternative right?
* Portable
* Opensource so that no hidden code is inside
* encryptable for security
* I want to see exactly how much money is on each ADDRESS (not wallet) i own. So that i can prevent to send 20BTC and in fact 3 transactions are made because the 20BTC are stored on 3 addresses. I want to see the addresses and the money on it so that i can send it from the addresses.
* And a client that needs the original wallet opened at the same time doesnt sound useful to me too. I mean then i could use the original one instead.

Is there such a client that contains all points?

Thanks!
Sebastian

i would use blockchain.info's online wallet. it has an option to sync with a normal bitcoind.

to circumvent the initial downloadphase for bitcoin-qt its possible to download the files manually.

if you really want to have a desktop app:
i am not aware of an offline client which uses the wallet.dat from bitcoin-qt. but i think armory is nice.
