Hi HitBTC,

Are you still on track to add the Nxt/Fiat pairs by the 1st August?

Thanks  Grin
1443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Qora is scam, just NXT clone, developer run away! on: July 29, 2014, 10:54:04 AM
Qora is interesting, it's repeating the path NXT followed, but on a smaller scale. Should NXT fail because of a fatal flaw, Qora could be one of PoS backup cryptos, as well as NEM and Bitshares. These three will compete for 'Litecoin' status of the PoS world.
The address is system is more secure...

How is the address system more secure?

I saw one line about Nxt changing from the numeric to the Reed Solomon system and this being 'more insecure' (I think from Qora himself). But the RS ID's are generated from the numeric so in what what way is it more insecure? It is the same system in the backend.

Can you explain this?

Can you post the announcement from Bittrex (the source)?

It's up for me.
1448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: July 28, 2014, 08:42:24 PM
I got this message in PM from a shy Nxter  Grin I'm not up on this (NxtWallet) so could someone answer? This rings a bell as a known bug to me that will be fixed in the next update but there is a work around...

Quote
I've got NXT wallet 1.2 and NRS version 1.1.4
When I open the wallet I get the prompt to upgrade as follows ..
"A new version of the client 1.1.6 is available"
When I 'click' OK ..
" The hash of the downloaded update doen not equal the one
supplied by the blockchain .. Aborting update"

The wallet ( as is ) works fine ..
I have NXT under two addresses and they're both forging ..
I've also got NXT on an exchange that I was planning to import to the wallet ..

Should I just delete and uninstall the NXT wallet from my local computer
and start all over with a 'clean' install of the latest NRS and client ??
( I originally used the 'one click' install client for windows when i first started with NXT )

or

Am I OK to just carry on as I am ??

New person here so bear with me, But what do you guys think is the safest way of purchasing NXT?

If you want to buy with fiat check https://www.ccedk.com/

Young but smooth exchange.

If you have either...

USD
EUR
GBP
SEK
NOK
DKK
CHF

then you can go from those currencies to Nxt in one step. It is new so you may find there aren't enough orders to get the amount you want. Just put your orders in and I'll drum up some people to sell to you  Grin

You can then hold them on the exchange and do nothing. Or create and account and move the NXT there. I am told you can do this here:  http://www.secureae.com/ but I have never tried it myself (it is trustworthy in that Wesley, the main client developer, created the front end for the website so your password never leaves your comupter).

N.B you can also buy with BTC and LTC if you have it.

Great, I've let Joefox know >>>> https://nxtforum.org/nxt-whitepaper/completely-revamped-nxt-whitepaper-draft/msg72059#msg72059

But I think idea was just to represent Nxt in its current form (i.e. economic clustering isn't in yet IIRC) so gets updated with each new release.

Keep going  Grin

I came across someone today who thought Nxt didn't have a whitepaper so just wanted to bump that...

Nxt has a whitepaper! And a paper that describes the Math of Forging written by a retired Maths Professor. And others and lots of articles

Check them out below  Grin

...(I read those posts when they spoke up too).

Why don't you also tell us what they had to say AFTER I replied to them???   lol

From memory, I think you put your tail between your legs a bit but still over reacted to some imagined threat and told everyone to 'watchout or else' in a convoluted way with splatterings of bold and font size change. And probably kisses. I assume everyone else rolled there eyes with me without replying, in case they set you off again...

This isn't achieving anything but wasting my time. Till the nxt time you blow up...
1453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: July 28, 2014, 12:53:02 PM
You only see what you want to see: in me and in jean-luc's comments. Re-read my posts (repeated again from our last conversation) and stop trying to put words into my mouth. You waste my time.

OK...  have it your way...  from now on whenever you decide to Pick & Choose the time when you're gonna drop in the Qora thread like the known VIRUS you have become be prepared to answer us about your INTENTIONS...  have you honestly convinced yourself that we can't see what you're doing???   Shocked

...I wouldn't be surprised if you and a few others actually have the DELUSION that you're helping Nxt with your tactics...

I read every post in this thread, I even ignore most of the DUF that can't be verified. Ask yourself why would someone do that, instead of throwing a tantrum and projecting your own insecurities. It is tedious and achieves nothing, except to maybe lower your standing. Even the silent Qora holders you assume to speak on behalf of have asked you to stop doing that (I read those posts when they spoke up too).

Except for you of course  Cheesy

flanklui replied directly to me... you should stop trying to create a feud between us. It is childish.

OK... since the LET IT GO  A L R E A D Y!!! wasn't enough...  let me spell it out for you...  Qora is currently on Version 13...  download it...  have Jean-Luc look at it once again...  and MAKE SURE HE CLARIFIES ANYTHING YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND...  MOST OF US HERE DO NOT CARE...  is it any clearer now???   Roll Eyes

Have you ever seen anyone in the Qora Community Pick & Choose what they like and/or don't like from Jean-Luc's statement...  NO...  they (almost) always post the WHOLE damn thing...  if there is something that is NOT clear to YOU...  ASK Jean-Luc...  is it any clearer now???   Roll Eyes

...keep it up and we just might have to talk a little bit about INTENTIONS...

You only see what you want to see: in me and in jean-luc's comments. Re-read my posts (repeated again from our last conversation) and stop trying to put words into my mouth. You waste my time.

As I also said previously, JL's comments can be taken either way depending on which bits you focus on and which you ignore (as is being demonstrated in this thread).

It is YOU everyone is ignoring...   Roll Eyes

1457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: July 28, 2014, 11:45:04 AM
@flanklui
Re-read my posts, I was never arguing for open source. I was only interested in the claim Qora made about "people have already provided proof...". I hadn't seen any,  I was interested in the *proof that allegedly existed today*, not about open sourcing at some point in the future. Open source when you like.

As I also said previously, JL's comments can be taken either way depending on which bits you focus on and which you ignore (as is being demonstrated in this thread).

NEM ~ Hold.   Purchase now on NXT asset exchange >>>> https://trade.secureae.com/#12465186738101000735

NXT ~ short term trade.  When subsequent major features are brought in, the price can go up a few cents but will probably come back down.  August 1 is supposedly a major content release.  Buy now and profit a few days after August 1?

Ora ~ based on Kora and will probably surpass it.  Soon to hit the NXT asset exchange.  Don't buy right away, as you might be buying into a hype buy.  Wait until the prices settle.   This could possibly be the surprise coin of 2014, in that it might pop up between $10 to $20 million.  >>> http://www.secureae.com

Added links to the Nxt asset exchange.

Using these you don't need to download the client or the blockchain, and you can make purchases using Bitcoin.

1460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: July 26, 2014, 10:16:04 PM
I was the one who asked jean-luc to look at the code. His comments are inconclusive, they can support both arguements depending on which bit you choose to bold.

We need a dev to look at it, I don't doubt it decompiles to something but you and I probably couldn't tell if it is obfuscated or not.

The Qora code is readily decompilable, and although obfuscated it is clear that it is very different from the Nxt codebase. You don't need to be an experienced Java developer to verify this (although of course it helps, as does knowledge of the Nxt codebase). Perhaps in the dim and distant past it was somehow based on Nxt - although I believe it wasn't - and in any case it is now very very different.

Other things you can readily check:

 - The communication between nodes is very different to that of Nxt
 - Account IDs, passphrase system, brainwallet etc are different to those of Nxt
 - UI is very different to that of Nxt

I really don't understand why people still think that Qora is a clone of Nxt. I assume that all such claims are basically trolling.

+1 very constructive.
