1481  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 12, 2020, 05:11:05 PM

I used to live near there. It looked peaceful enough on the surface but I kept my guard up.

If you're in the area you should check it out. You might find some of its descendants standing guard.

1482  Economy / Economics / Re: Nobel Laureate asked India to print more money and not to worry about inflation on: April 12, 2020, 05:06:36 PM
In most states in India police are taking strict actions against lock down violators including beating their ass up and giving them silly punishments, i do not support police brutality during this pandemic situation and today there is a terrible new coming from Punjab where people cut off the arm of a police officer when they tried to stop them. People are loosing their minds sitting at home and with brutality like these, its aweful.

I don't know what the attitude of the Indian police is on a day to day basis, but in the UK the police are asking for cooperation mainly. If they all started chasing people around with sticks I don't think their legitimacy would last too long.
1483  Economy / Economics / Re: Nobel Laureate asked India to print more money and not to worry about inflation on: April 12, 2020, 04:15:07 PM
I just want to add one point, which may seem controversial, but that's what I think based on my experience. Poor people don't suffer from inflation because they don't have savings, and thus nothing in their possession can be devalued. A daylaborer spends all he earns the same day, or the day after, and if inflation comes, the prices rise and he's paid more for the same job.

If inflation really takes hold then the whole country seizes up and even if you're earning in an effectively inflation free way there might not be anything to buy. Look at supply chains, imports and production in places like Zimbabwe and Venezuela.

I don't know how you moderate it but you'd need to keep a careful eye on it.
1484  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I sell bitcoin now? on: April 11, 2020, 02:43:07 PM
Anyone who bases their moves on the opinion of the mindless slugs, me included, in here is probably better off exiting completely and finding something more steady. Nobody knows shit. Anyone claiming to is a double dollop of shit.

1485  Economy / Economics / Re: Nobel Laureate asked India to print more money and not to worry about inflation on: April 10, 2020, 10:46:44 PM
The feeling I get from India is that the leadership either doesn't know or doesn't care what real life is like for most people. They have their space program. They also have people who live in toilets.

The rescinding of bank notes fucked millions of people. Their lockdown fucked even more. How they didn't figure out that most people live hand to mouth on a daily basis and would face starvation within a few days is beyond me.

That being the case I think the Indian establishment should commit suicide and enrich the real people they're supposed to serve on the way down. Do it. It's not as if day to day life would be much more desperate than it already is.
1486  Economy / Economics / Re: I think we can take pride that we didn't need a stimulus bill for btc on: April 10, 2020, 08:38:57 PM
Disregarding the mechanics of it and who would be doing it, if offered a stimulus bill during a ploppy time I wonder how many Bitcoin fans would clamour for it? I'm willing to guess it would be in the region of 95% or more.

It would certainly separate the dollar hunters from the true believers and I'm confident the former outweigh the latter by a factor of - fucktons.
1487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we heading in a Sucker Rally ? on: April 10, 2020, 08:30:40 PM
Unless an 'analyst' can tell me what's going to happen with this pandemic then I may as well consult my turds as they'll have just as valid a guess as them.

Fuck knows why anyone would even mention TA at a time like this. The world is waiting to see whether it's going to bounce back or fly down the toilet. That is what'll decide the future of everything including Bitcoin.
1488  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Building a list of the safest places to buy Bitcoin in each country on: April 10, 2020, 07:50:29 PM
Pretty good list. I guess you'll need to ask people familiar with their own countries whether there's anything obvious missing. For instance I'm in the UK and you're missing Coinfloor. It's not a huge player but it has been going for a long time now without raping anyone to my knowledge.
1489  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BINANCE TO LAUNCH ITS OWN MINING POOL on: April 10, 2020, 07:34:05 PM
It will not be possible to roll back just as he suggested when they were hacked. That will definitely be a potential mess in the future, looks like they haven't scratch that idea. The more centralize it could become, they have purchased the large companies in crypto, get away with the steemit votes issue and they may even get away more of what they can do when they have more power.

It's one thing to meddle with a shitcoin, and even then what little community there is rose up and fucked them, quite another to attempt to mess with BTC. Literally everyone who is not CZ would go all out to wipe him out. I think he might possibly be dim witted enough to attempt something some day. He will get rapidly and brutally put in his place.
1490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keypoint to watch in D-34 BTC halving: Miner's hashrate on: April 10, 2020, 06:10:32 PM
Hashrate is not a direct measure of bitcoin price but an increase in hashrate mostly means positive prediction from the miners.

It could be mean cheaper and better mining machines or better power deals. It's nothing much to do with tomorrow's price. They have massive outgoings to meet today. If you'd told people on here in 2017 what the hash rates would be today and asked them to guess the price they'd be saying it was telephone numbers rather than 3-6x lower than back then.
1491  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-09] Hacker Exploits Flaw in Decentralized Exchange Bisq on: April 10, 2020, 06:02:55 PM
Centralized systems were being perfected for generation, and it will take decades for decentralized systems to get to their level.

Centralised systems will always have whining, peer pressure and lawsuits to fall back on. That's why decentralisation for services is a lovely idea that most people will prefer to leave on the shelf.

The only place it'll fly is in services that can't operate any other way. If there's a centralised service the average customer will gravitate towards that out of instinct.
1492  Other / Meta / Re: POLL: Initial merit provided to older established accounts on: April 10, 2020, 05:56:13 PM
Ironically some posters here don't seem to have read the OP Smiley

Hmm. I did not digest the retrospective aspect. Poor show.

I would've preferred a totally blank merit slate for everyone with existing ranks intact. Whatever 'work' you put in for you rank would still exist. To get further you would've needed to embark on a different type of it just like everyone else.

Where it's can get confusing is that there's no delineation between merit shoved up you in the first place and that that you've earned. That should've been dealt with from the off.

I guess everyone still needed a pool of merit to get rid of in the first place but that didn't need to show up as awarded merit too.

I think ranking up for the lower levels should've been harder, easier for the mids and the golden heights are about right.
1493  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BINANCE TO LAUNCH ITS OWN MINING POOL on: April 10, 2020, 05:28:42 PM
If Binance is going to launch its own mining pool, well let's say that that it will be big. Sure, they have resources but will they have enough to keep the crypto going? Now we're not only talking about man power but computer power with better, more efficient computing power, one which is already limiting mining already? It will be interesting to first of all see if this will be the case and whether Binance will be able to maintain it  Shocked

Binance is highly likely to not be mining themselves. Miners will. It's down to Binance to tempt them with the right terms.

I can't imagine any universe where mining makes more money than running an exchange. Mining costs millions to set up and keep going with no guarantee of profit. An exchange is a fountain of money no matter what the market does, as long as it does something.
1494  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's longest time have you been without 'deleted post' message? on: April 10, 2020, 05:25:48 PM
I tend to delete the deleted messages PMs so can't fully remember but it's usually several months between them. I'm a good little forum robot, yes sir.

However if we're talking self moderated deletions then I tend to get a blizzard of them when they get poked for the reason they created a self moderated thread.
1495  Other / Meta / Re: POLL: Initial merit provided to older established accounts on: April 10, 2020, 05:21:18 PM
Airdropped merit should totally be erased. It serves no purpose other than giving false authority to farmed accounts over those not in the know.

If someone had a good account that hasn't been back in two years it's still a good account. The ranks can stay if need be. The merit should go.
1496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keypoint to watch in D-34 BTC halving: Miner's hashrate on: April 10, 2020, 09:54:39 AM
especially since previous halving events show that price follows hashrate.

There've been repeated hash rate all time highs in recent times. They've obliterated 2017's hash rate. I did not notice much price action or enthusiasm.

Mining means nothing in regards to influencing the price. The miners contend with the price and related costs the market forces on them.
1497  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-09] Hacker Exploits Flaw in Decentralized Exchange Bisq on: April 10, 2020, 09:51:22 AM
I reckon something similar can be said on centralized exchanges also. It appears that many of the bitcoins used in the darknet are sent to them for mixing? I hope they did not give personal information hehehe.

That analysis is mind blowing. I can't believe people are that stupid. Even if they think they got away with it there may be a day when they're retrospectively hammered up the bum.

I remember a thread somewhere about swapping Monero for BTC on Bisq. As soon as the person moved the BTC they received to a third party it was frozen cos it was nicked.
1498  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 09, 2020, 08:34:58 PM
I refuse to watch that clip because of the scammy title.

Banks HATE him.
1499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did Mr. Satoshi Nakamoto get inspiration about developing Bitcoins? on: April 09, 2020, 08:31:16 PM
Probably a bit jealous until he realized hashcash wasn't going to catch on while Bitcoin was starting to gain real world attention by then.

Only a true computer science obsessive could come up with something like that. I've no idea whether it took off but I'd never have otherwise heard of it if not for BTC. Loads of the best stuff is identified and repurposed by someone with true vision. Satoshi made him, and vice versa of course. I hope they raise a glass to each other every now and then.
1500  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-09] Hacker Exploits Flaw in Decentralized Exchange Bisq on: April 09, 2020, 08:23:01 PM
What is actually tragicomic is the fact that the hack happened due to an upgrade, which was obviously not checked before it was implemented. Such things should not happen to professionals who want to prove themselves in one very competitive world of cryptocurrency trading. No KYC is great for most people, but hacking and very poor liquidity are definitely not in favor of DEX.

I've yet to see one remotely convincing and this is yet another one to slap upside the head.

I'd really want to see something properly on chain or in a core wallet and a fundamental part of the protocol before starting to feel confident about one. Even then I'm not sure enough people will ever be able to let go of having their hand held. But I'd rather know I was being watched from afar from the off rather than having it sprung on me like this.
