Seems like some serious stress building within WO.

In Darwin just before Monsoon season breaks the extreme heat and humidity causes the inhabitants much grief and short tempers, they call this going troppo.
When the first storm breaks and brings some relief tempers cool people dance in the rain.

Hopefully we are soon to get that relief.

Set the controls for the heart of the sun.

You are right, and for years this has been a reliable indicator.

ALMOST hit the follow button.

Can't break my OpSec... on purpose at least  Wink

As much as I would love your follow, I am honestly not terribly interesting on twitter, and I do respect your opsec, frustrating as it may be considering what I know about myself lol. Smiley

Who could have thought so many woers/bitcoiners are in fact antivaxxers? Guys you do sound like you're from the 19th century. Science gave us BTC and so it gave us vaccines. No need to be afraid of science. Most of the poor antivaxxer guys have been brainwashed by the youtube videos and questionable news sites. Lots of people are going to die because of this.  Sad

Yes there are side effects. Every vaccine has them. Thrombosys, myocarditis etc all are extremely rare. Like really really rare 3 people out of 1 million. Vaccines are like that - somebody's child (or parent) will die a painful death. But billions will be protected from the virus. It's the price we have to pay...    Cool

So would you say we should "trust the science"?

I have two things to say about that.

1.  THERE IS VERY LITTLE SCIENCE!  This is why sensible people might take a position of caution about experimental drug released in haste to fight a virus with an EXTREMELY HIGH survival rate.  Calling these people "anti-vaxxers" is a strawman, as is implying they are anti-science, or saying they are "afraid of science".

2.  "Trust the science" (which you did not explicitly say, but was the basic message of your tone) may be the single least science-positive slogan I could imagine.

Science, by it's core ethos, DEMANDS you not trust it.

Lol. How does it feel being a self-righteous prick?

I'm merely stating fact.

You think that's informed consent you have?

Stating a fact or asking a question? They are two different things, Bob.

Again, what does it feel like being a self-righteous prick?

From my perspective Bob is not being a self righteous prick.  But you really, REALLY are.

I personally have taken the vaccine two times.  But I also have respect for people to CHOOSE NOT to take an experimental gene therapy that HAS NOT been studied to know all the possible downstream effects.

It is and entirely sensible position.

The actual INVENTOR of the mRNA therapy is on record saying over and over that this use of his invention could be dangerous.

If your brain is incapable of seeing the argument of someone you disagree with and instead call that person names then it is YOU, not them, who are in error in my opinion.

I do not like using the ignore button but this is getting very close.

I am OK with people either taking or not taking the vaccine. BTW, many covid vaccines are NOT mRNA based, so that argument (about gene therapy) in some countries is not even valid.
The risk of NOT taking the vaccine and then falling very sick is not zero either. It depends on many genetic and environmental factors that we currently don't fully understand yet.

One thing: if you DO have breathing problems already, then take some vaccine.
My son's friend with a breathing pre-condition died from covid recently...wanted to take a vaccine, but never got to doing it...early 20ies.

I am also OK with people not wearing masks in the open, but if there are 20 people in the room with no ventilation, maybe a mask would be advisable.
In my state people are not mandated to wear masks, but if you ARE coughing, and in close quarters, it's just common courtesy to wear some protection.

I agree.  And I am aware that there are lot's of non mRNA vaccines available.  But at least in the short term they have also had more side effects.

I am hoping I get the famous testicle swelling just so I can prance around saying "look at THIS" to my wife...  But c'est la vie!   One cannot pick one's side effects.

I think the trend towards mandates and "passports" is a draconian atrocity. But as with most things my personal position on the vaccine (and virus) is fairly nuanced.  I have mentioned in the past i work for a very large hospital system.  I designed the registration front end for our (several) vaccine clinics back in late '20-21.  It was special because it was designed to allow extremely fast and LOW information registration for the patients.  After we got it all working, I volunteered in the vaccine clinics which, in the beginning, were ONLY giving vaccines to the MOST vulnerable population.

I watched thousands of 70+ year old people come to the clinic to get the vaccine along with certain other vulnerable folks (and there were exactly zero reactions that I saw).  It was emotionally moving.  Many of these elderly folk had not been out of their house in about a year.  And I will never forget one old man.  He hobbled up to the counter to check in for his appointment and thanked the registrars for doing this.  He was weeping when he said he believed it would mean he should be able to safely hug his grandchildren again.

Was/is the vaccine really needed? Safe? A big psyop? I don't honestly know.  But I still felt like I was taking part in something historic.  Some here will see me as some misguided part of the whole machine.  That's ok.  Other assholes will lump me into their 2 dimensional view of what they think is a libertarian, which I am more or less.

And I believe the vaccine is probably a good thing overall.  And a significant risk we are taking.  And I believe the governments of the world are acting in concert to destroy our liberties and remake the world in a way I truly hope fails.

Damn... balls still the same size.

The post which I initially replied to. My "name-calling" was just and to be honest I wouldn't even consider it name calling. He calls me a lab rat and I call him a self-righteous prick, fair game and I am certain no feelings here were hurt except for yours.

You came in here.  Took sarcastic no-substance shots at people who are dubious about the vaccine.  Well, I take that back.  You tried to make the argument that people were foolish to complain about the financial aspect of a "free" vaccine.  Pfiser has made BILLIONS in revenue.  In fact they themselves forecast they will make more than $3 for every human alive on Earth selling the vaccine (26 billion USD).  Your argument is not only unsophisticated it is ignorant.

Bob did return a fairly simple rebuttal, but it had implicit substance.  People taking the vaccine (like me) are taking unknown risks in doing so.  That is a stone cold FACT.  How does it feel?  To be honest, I do not entirely like it.

The "arguments" you have made have had no real substance and can be summed up as "people who disagree with me are dumb" which is a dead giveaway that one is a fool.

Then again, I am too as I cast pearls here.

You are wrong about hurt feelings as well.  Having hurt feelings would mean I felt attacked for a position about which I am insecure.  Nothing you have said represents a valid attack, and I am reasonably secure in my positions, so my feeling cannot be hurt this way.

Coming in casting shade at WO people, libertarians (again people that are dumb because the disagree with you, I guess), and someone who I quite like (not just shade, but calling them a prick) does not hurt my feelings in any way, but it is offensive.

If I walk past a pile of shit, I am going to find the smell offensive, but it, like you, will not have hurt my feelings.

Lmao, reading comprehension?? Haha, it's fine. I know how you WO only posters operate so couldn't care less if you'd put me on ignore.

My comment?  Has reason and an actual argument.  Yours?  Basic name calling.  What am I reading that I am not comprehending, please?

Sometimes I wonder why some of you even participate in society.

Like there's a choice.

See? there are levels of understanding.  In everything.  And to someone without understanding a wise man appears to be a fool.

The world is run by criminals with a license. That's why I do not understand when Bitcoiners scream at Banks, SEC, IWF etc. and then believe the WHO or CDC is any different. They all want to keep them self rich, no matter how. They do not give a shit about you and me and if we are healthy etc. The only goal of this was mass vaccination for profits. They installed and installing a vaccination system that will never end. You will need a booster shot every 6 months for the rest of your life. İf you do not get your booster, you get downgraded to unvaccinated status.

Oh no, I get a free vaccine shot.. these damn rich people just making themselves rich.

You realize that vaccine shot is not AT ALL free, right?  (By the way, I am NOT anti-vaccine, though I am very MUCH anto mandates.)

Has anyone else noticed how low the mempool is... block sizes are small as well.

I am opening LN channels for 1SAT/vByte.

And yet lightning network use is increasing parabolically.

Bitcoin is scaling.

Miners have lost nothing.  Blocks continue to be found and added tot he chain.  And by the time the subsidy is small fees will not longer be 1s/b.

But most people are talking about de-fi and ETH.  Heh.

If it was obvious... there would be no real opportunity.

ETH will try to scale with ETH 2.0 However, if that fails then the price will fall while dragging Defi behind it. Bitcoin is just a smarter investment.

Good quote. Banks are indeed going down the Blockbuster path. The future is now.

Most of the midwits that talk about Ethereum on twitter are basically defending it with the EXACT same logic we have heard for 5+ years.  That it has "features" bitcoin does not have on the base layer and therefore is capable of different things.  For example:

But TINA gets it 100% right here, though he's also taking a "toxic" jab.

The thing missing from Gretta's understanding is "Why Blockchain?".  The fact this is still even a topic of such widespread magnitude is MADDENING to me.  Ethereum has made a fundamental design flaw. There is no reason to put the "whole world on a L1 blockchain" unless what you really want is a massively wasteful panopticon.  (Certain meglomaniac sociopaths might actually find this attractive, sadly).

I do not think it is even possible for Moore's law to ever bring us to where this is a good idea either. Because as we store more data in these immutable databases the data we are storing is increasing just as the computational power to store and process them is.  We will always have more data to store than easy ability to do it, and in the end the right way to DO Ethereum is for it to be run on distributed networks ANCHORED on a blockchain. Liquid is a possible other compromise here.  It's fedarated model anticipates some centralization, and if Liquid is actually used that blockchain is gonna get BIIIIIG.   Why store the entire data on the blockchain if you can store the hash of that data though?  I suppose the argument would be to never lose that stored data.  Which means the entire world "database" also has an endless undo button as it branches out ridiculously in every direction forever.

I dunno... maybe I am an idiot. George Gilder has actually sided with the lunatics (in my opinion) on this one... which actually scares me.  He's a fairly brilliant bastard.

ya think?

Nah, this takes out Tether and finishes the collapse of bitcoin. Bitcoin below $10k within 1 year. Completely evaporates for all practical purposes within 2 years. This was the confirmed Chinese news we've all known was eventually coming.

dude... I often wonder wtf is your purpose here?
The joke has long worn off.
I know, as everyone else does who frequents this thread, that you are packing a shitload of bitcoin, so what gives?

Can't a guy just offer confirmed analysis around here? Sheesh

I prefer it with a little science to back it up, but otherwise yes... never change.

El Salvador another achievement as half a million population is already using the official wallet Chivo which have $30 of bitcoin as signup bonus

Source:  Half a million users using Chivo wallet

It has just adopted it as legal tender and this is growth so many are going to adapt to the same.
Official government wallet, that is a disaster in the making. Bitcoin has no official wallet

The people of El Salvador are protesting against Bitcoin bill
https://cryptoslate.com/the-people-of-el-salvador-are-protesting-against-bitcoin-bill/

Thing is... this is a side effect of a free open network. ANYONE gets to play.  Even governments.  And anyone gets to build whatever they want.  Chivo may have a downside for sure. Privacy is already an issue with Bitcoin in general, and a government wallet?  Pffft. I would never use it except to collect my helicopter money.  But we KNOW that average Joe (or Jose) is going to use whatever their government spoonfeeds them. It has always been this way. It is this way. It will always be this way.

I have always said.  The revolution in Bitcoin is not that you HAVE to be your own bank. It's that you CAN.

I am still holding my breath.  This is a HUGE crossroads for bitcoin.  Either this works or it doesn't.  And if it does the question is how well, and will we be able to keep going?

On my own end, two very notable changes can be seen with my lightning node:

1.  My traffic continues to go parabolic.  I am routing hundreds of payments a day now.  Much more than in the past.
2.  The payment sizes show a real difference.  Seem like people PLAYING with the network, or balancing channels will send small round payments.  I used to see lots of 1000, 10000, 100000 type payments... or little patters like 40005 40006 40007.  Now they are very random, and generally around the $5-$25 range.  The patterns that look like people playijng around are going away (still there but now like 10%) and there are even 10 minute periods of time in which my node routes millions of sats (in the tens of thousands USD value).

So from my vantage point stuff is happening for sure.

The next few months really are critical. Wink

Love him or hate him, Jbear is a very interesting individual. He and I had several long discussions on music and vintage musical gear. He owns some gear used by Joe Walsh, Elton John, Rick Derringer, Billy Joel. and Michael Jackson.

I won't go into details because he told me this privately.

Yeah I chatted a couple times in this realm as well... I wrote him privately after breaking down and buying a piece of Behringer gear and falling in love with it (Wing) to my great surprise.

The only piece of gear I own with anything like a pedigree is a used mic I paid 100$ for that was supposedly tried out on a J-Lo track and rejected. lol.

As I said I hope he's OK and just got tired of being picked on for BSV...

This is just weird.

Not only are the weekly cycles becoming super obvious.  But they seem to be coming in groupings of 6 or 7 weeks each.

Anybody hazard a guess as to why that might be?

Montango?

Not that it hasn;t taken some hard damage too.

Wonder if some announcement of "Target taking Monero" or some such other nonsense is about to come out?!? Wink
