1521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: spreading of Bitcoin on: March 01, 2018, 06:19:18 PM
I am curious about bitcoin, because until today bitcoin still exist. even its value, makes bitcoin become crypto king. what is the secret behind bitcoin success ?and if spreading of bitcoin can be stopped, who is the most benefited and disadvantaged ?

If you stop spreading awareness about bitcoins following things will happen:

1) This will mean that  those who have not invested in bitcoins till now will never know about bitcoins. New investors will not join and thus the demand will be reduced even if new bitcoins keep getting mined. Prices will start declining then.

2) Alt coins may be benefited by this. But only that coins will be benefited who have a good marketing plan. They will have to project themselves as a better alternative to bitcoins.
1522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin dominance to continue on: March 01, 2018, 06:16:50 PM
i think bitcoin will continue to be a mega crypto untill litecoin replaces it when facvebook joins the bandwagon and buy and improve litecoin..what do you think  guys??

I do not think any of the current coins has what it takes to replace bitcoins. Some coins have unique features like complete anonymity but it is still not sufficient. I know that a lot of current bitcoin investors are moving to alt coins for faster profit. But we should not forget that everyday thousands of new investors are entering in the field of bitcoin investment. When someone starts investing in crypto, his first purchase is bitcoin.
1523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KYCs (Know your Client) is killing crypto on: March 01, 2018, 06:12:50 PM
When I was starting to get involved in crypto-currency, one of its features that attracts me is the privacy it gives you. Now with all those KYC being required in exchanges and in ICOs and other platforms, some people are beginning to be hesitant in their activities in crypto.

I really do not understand what problem people have is these exchanges are taking your KYC. This is done for a number of reasons. Most important reason is to ensure that the investors are paying taxes on their profits. This must be enforced otherwise people will start investing all their money in bitcoins and government will not get any tax. Another thing to keep in mind is that KYC helps to reduce the chances of criminals using bitcoins.
1524  Other / Meta / Re: DOES BAN APPEAL WORK ? or Just SHOW OFF on: March 01, 2018, 06:02:51 PM
Ban appeals do work, but they are situation dependent, on what you were banned for and the severity of the offense. If you had been an active member for a year, but broke a bunch of rules because you were stressed out and having a bad day, you may be unbanned after reflecting for an appropriate amount of time if you can demonstrate you understand what you did wrong and how you'll avoid doing that again in the future. If you were banned for copy and pasting, spamming for the purpose of a signature ad, or something similar, you are out of luck.
This is exactly how things work on other forums as well. While removing a ban or any other punishment the mod of the forum sees a number of things. First is you r posting history or contribution to the forum. For instance, if your posting suggests that you are always there to help new members ans sharing useful guides, it means that you want this forum to go ahead. Minor mistakes may be forgiven for such members.
1525  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system is not working, failed! on: March 01, 2018, 05:59:58 PM
A month ago the merit system will imposed and until now they are still complaining about the merit system and most who did that those lower ranks members, they are just like barking always about merit system. You know why those higher rank did not do this because when it comes earning profits here in forum Legendary and Hero member are just the same, and mostly those ranks treat arrogant to the newcomers especially newbie besides of helping being motivated in doing good post. Do you think they did not go through the lower rank or just a newbie?

Your post is very confusing. At one point you are saying that new members are only posting complains about the merit system. Then you start criticizing the senior embers that they are making money with signature campaigns. Who is right here then ? I think we have all types of people in different ranks. The rank of a person has nothing to do with his character, a senior member might not be very well behaved. Personally, I had got good encouragement and support from all members here.
1526  Other / Meta / Re: Merit stats & all transactions more than 40 Merits on: March 01, 2018, 05:54:09 PM
Posts getting  more than 20 merit points from a single member need to be checked. This will involve a lot of work though. First we will have to consider that some of the threads might be exceptional and those merits points are justified for them. Secondly, very few members will be able to understand the content in local sections. Thus, members should observe such posts in their respective local board and report it in threads like : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2896910.0.
1527  Other / Meta / Re: Merits all over the meta on: March 01, 2018, 05:51:00 PM
Why majority of the post here is about merits??  I know that this category discusses about the forum but ALMOST the topics posted is about merits. Is this now the merit discussion? Repeating topics should be deleted or merge

You are right that this section is about forum but isn't merit also related to the forum. Here is what I think about it:

1) Your suggestion that all the similar threads should be merged really makes sense. It helps to organize things so that members can easily search for desired information.

2) I suppose we will see less of these threads with time passing by. Most of the treads about merits were related to complains against this new system. Thos emmebrs have now accepted the merit system and moved on.
1528  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Requirement for Member Proposal on: March 01, 2018, 05:48:27 PM
I see many Jr. Members easily rank up to Member because the required Merits is only 10. And I can see many merit farming (an example:
see here). We are aware that this is done by some/many bounty hunters out there. This is an obvious abuse and would like to propose some minor changes in the required merit requirement for Members.

Instead of 10 Merits for Members, why don't we increase it to 25 Merits? This way, Jr. Members will have to strive harder in order to rank up to Member. Merit farming will be difficult because their sMerits will diminish fast.

Insights are welcome.

You started with this example :https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2995962.msg30866501#msg30866501 . As you found that the member was trying to cheat the system, this merit abuse is very easy to spot. Such members are also getting red trust which will make those accounts useless. And the most important thing to remember here is that most of these  merits that members are abusing will be spent in 2-3 months. When all the merits originate from merit sources every month, we will have less such abuses happening.
1529  Other / Meta / Re: DOES BAN APPEAL WORK ? or Just SHOW OFF on: March 01, 2018, 05:45:02 PM
I do not have any personal experience with this. Thus, I had to dig past posts related to ban appeals on this forum. One of the most common reason for this ban is posting copied content in posts. Did you made this mistake with the account ? If you did this mistake, there are very less chances of this ban getting removed. Here are some of those past threads you can read for more information on this:

1530  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving post quality? on: March 01, 2018, 05:41:05 PM
I wouldn't be against prohibiting users from selling their accounts here as the majority of people doing so are either straight up scammers or shitposting spammers, but giving people the option of being able to purchase the signatures from us with membership would essentially all but kill the market for them instead. Sales could also be banned as well to pretty much put the nail in the coffin of account sales here.

I really could not understand how will this be banned ? I means one can take actions on members using this forum to such sale or purchase. But what about the members selling outside the forum. How will they be caught ? For instance, suppose a seller has made a website for selling accounts and gives account details after payment. How will th admin catch such members ? It is not possible to ban this.
1531  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Requirements too difficult to JR. Members on: March 01, 2018, 05:38:33 PM
I, too, believe, that the current system merit not friendly for newcomers. Unfortunately, this is the fault of the users themselves, who have too much FLUD on the forum.

Not friendly for newcomers ? I really think with the current merit system, it is easier for newbies to rank up. They just need 10 merit points for this. This can be achieved with a single thread posting some unique and useful content like stats related to members or an infographic. For the senior members, who now need 100 merit points or above to rank up, this is little hard to achieve. I also believe that merit sources will try to encourage new members more in comparison to the old members by giving merit points.
1532  Other / Meta / Re: Can i change my username here on BitcoinTalk forum? on: March 01, 2018, 05:34:12 PM
Can i change my username here on BitcoinTalk forum?  Huh Huh Huh

As per the responses made here, this is something hard to achieve. But I think there must be an option to get this done by contacting a staff. This is because some people may have a genuine reason for this like their identity being revealed by their current username. Or in other cases, some members might want their username to go with the new project they are going to launch. I agree that this can overburden staff with more work but we can limit it to one request per year for one member.
1533  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why so many currencies? on: February 24, 2018, 11:05:28 AM
There are many companies out there planning to launch their own coins. The blockchain is something that can really transform their current process and optimize the infrastructure that will lead to higher revenue for them. In my opinion, I think that they want to take benefit of decentralization but still, they don't want others to interfere with their process and that's why launching their own coins might help them to achieve this. I think down the road there will be many currencies dedicated to each sector such as food industry, medical industry etc.

I am also not a fan of so much currencies. In fact, there should be no currency launched till it has something unique to offer in addition to current bitcoin features. The reason this is happening is because developers want to milk out the current craze about crypto. They also think that they coins will be able to gain as much popularity as bitcoins thus giving them more profit and recognition.
1534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10 years and no country has approved Bitcoin ?? on: February 24, 2018, 11:03:27 AM
Bitcoin was launched in 2007. It's 10 years and still no country has approved Bitcoin ??   Huh

and in 2018, 2nd richest man "Warren Buffet" said "bitcoin will end up badly"

I agree to what he said. If this ever ends, it will end up badly for those having the bitcoins at that time. How will it end though ? Do you think that it will completely collapse one day ? I do not see that happening in next 100 years. See this is actually future of how most of the transactions will happen. More and more people will adopt this as there are technologcal advancements and more awareness about bitcoins.
1535  Other / Meta / Re: A proposed sticky all about Activity and ranks on: February 24, 2018, 10:54:09 AM
Should  I include a FAQ section about merit within this seeing as the system is now directly tied in to ranks? Have there been many similar questions asked yet regarding merit or things that people are confused on? If there is post them here and I'll consider adding them.

One that I've seen pop up a few times is people asking whether sending merit comes out of their own earned points.

There was already a thread like this if I remember. The member starting that thread covered most of the questions there. I think that thread is now buried again among these infinite thread being creating everyday about merit system. Here is the link to that thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2820030.0
1536  Other / Meta / Re: How to earn merits easily ? on: February 24, 2018, 10:51:03 AM
It's not necessary to always have a good quality . People will even send you merits of they find humour in your posts .
Another way is to post something innovative which people would like. Like there are many topics started by people which showcases ideas on how to reduce spam or topics related to that , which have been merited by many users.

Completely agree with you. Especially for Jr members who need 10 merits to rank up, there are a lot of options. Here is what they can do to earn these:

1) Post genuine replies tp queries being asked in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0. You should be the first to answer the query and answer the query in detail. I think I got about 5-8 merit points answering different queries there. I have also seen replies of other members getting  rewarded there frequently.

2) There is a thread offering merit points for creating Infographic, Even if you cannot write good posts, you can make a Infographic and get some merits.

1537  Other / Meta / Re: Some confusions regarding "Merit system" on: February 24, 2018, 10:47:11 AM

I don't think there's much of an issue with people hoarding merit; it's giving it to their alt accounts that is going to be the big issue.

It has already started and I believe it will continue to be an issue.

Any evidence for proving this conclusion ? We can see merits being spend by members here but there is n way to see how many smerits they have currently. Most of the members who wanted to cheat this merit system already spent their merits on alt accounts and then got caught. Genuine members who were awarding merit points to newbies have also spent most of their merit points (as evident from their posts in merit giveaway threads).
1538  Other / Meta / Re: how to get (MERIT)? on: February 24, 2018, 10:44:43 AM
Gaining merit from  somebody is not so easy.  Most of us may not be getting merit because our post may or may not be liked and if liked the watcher may not be so kind to give merit

Here is what you have posted before this post:

This is your personal issue. If you want to get bitcoin you will have to arrange funds and if you sell your home you may do it nobody stopping you

No bitcoin will not end. It will continue . Value go up or down but not end

Why to buy @ 20k I will buy now at very cheaper rates.

So, you just made 4 posts with this quality and thus got no merits. Ten you came to the conclusion that gaining merit is not easy. With this attitude, I will say that it is impossible for anyone to get merits. If you are ready to improve and post more constructive posts frequently, you will also merits like others
1539  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Requirements too difficult to JR. Members on: February 24, 2018, 10:40:11 AM
Yeah this merits system make me insane. I need to rank up order get more token. And i think the only get merits mostly is those bounty manager that they completely the bounty and distribute it will. Even you got good post and great replies they even see or give merits on us. Because the merits is too limited so many high rank reserve it to there friend or any knows people.

Do not spread rumors here. I am still a new member here and do not have any friends. I have been showered with merits for my posts from different members. I do not agree that high rank reserve members are hoarding merits for their friends. If anyone tries to abuse merit system, he will sooner of later get caught. Another thing to keep in mind is that, there are merit sources with huge number of merits and I think they are very fair to all members.
1540  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 24, 2018, 10:33:43 AM
Plz fast go 1 Merit New rang Member Wink one merit is not much help and ask for what you want Wink

See, it is true that you need only merit to rank up now but this is not the right way to achieve it. By doing this, you are taking risk of getting negative trust from senior members which will make all these hard earned 9 merit points useless. Just make 4-5 quality posts and you will get that one merit point. I have myself tried to be help members with some merits remaining to reach member level in my merit giveaway thread. But, asking for merits is something that really irritates me.
