1521  Economy / Speculation / Re: Managed retirement funds safe to invest or should I stick with cash? on: April 07, 2020, 08:45:46 AM
I'd be inclined to put a portion into some sort of retirement funds now and keep an eye open for further moves. We've no idea whether we're building up an appetite to bounce back or just warming up for the true ruin.

As for cash, I don't think we'll see an actual return that beats inflation from a normal savings account ever again, let alone keeps up with it. It definitely has its benefits but they're short term.
1522  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $ 3884 again? on: April 07, 2020, 08:25:14 AM
It's still too early but I like how people got back on the hype now, bitcoin pump and altcoins are also in green right now.
This would continue, that's good for the market and this would prove that we don't rely or correlated to stocks as they fall down but crypto is gaining.

It's been following stocks and other markets slavishly recently. People keep saying it has diverged and it's non correlated and then it does exactly what everything else has been doing. And why should it not? It's sentiment and sentiment is not magically erased or reversed just because it's a separate market.
1523  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Class-action lawsuits filed against 11 Bitcoin/cryptocurrency companies on: April 07, 2020, 08:18:14 AM
I think these group of lawyers are trying to become the crypto GOD by filing public interest litigation that may work against the entire crypto market.

I asked in the other thread but no one answered, how do things like this work? Do they create and initiate these things themselves and then recruit the public to join in? Have any of these things vs crypto companies been resolved and if so did the initiator win?

1525  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BINANCE TO LAUNCH ITS OWN MINING POOL on: April 06, 2020, 05:15:22 PM
Binance management seem both dim and reckless. If anywhere is to attempt to corner everything I would vastly prefer it to be someone other than their fine selves. More than likely they'll wind up screwing up big time before taking over the world, or someone with a bit more up top takes them over.
1526  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Getting listed on Coinbase? on: April 06, 2020, 02:10:32 PM
hmm team is saying there will be a major exchange listing by the end of the month.

what is the chance it will be coinbase considering the circumstances?

Coinbase have become shameless hookers just like everyone else. If it fits their listing framework - https://listing.coinbase.com/policy then it's conceivable but they may likely wait to see how it performs elsewhere for some time before considering it.

Boris got it a week ago but heard was recovering.
I guess her speech got under his nerves.
That 6666th post should go right to the wall on that thread in meta. Cool

People start to go downhill properly right around the time he's popped off to hospital himself.

And it's not as if we're going to get the full truth. Perhaps a ten hour Twitter feed of his blue face and bulging eyes would convince more people to knuckle down.
1528  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdraw funds in FIAT/crypto from Binance and convert to FIAT on: April 05, 2020, 04:30:24 PM
This is a pointless question unless you tell us what country you're in. Every country will have a very different set of options from everything you could ever want to hardly any at all.
1529  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-04] Class-action lawsuits filed against 11 Bitcoin companies on: April 05, 2020, 04:13:57 PM
I can't say I'd be desperately sad if any of those joints or projects were cleaned out and subsequently fucked off for good. They won't of course. There's no word on who's instigated or joined it. Who is it?
1530  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 05, 2020, 12:20:29 AM
Posted a few minutes back: 40k BTC for sale (thread at Currency Exchange):

Erm, aren't there about fifty of these threads a day from no mark chancers?
1531  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 04, 2020, 10:49:33 PM
Can you people give me 50% of what you get? I'm half Vietnamese and it's time for some fukkin payback.
1532  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 04, 2020, 01:21:46 PM
Yeah bitebits used to give me all his merits but I guess I got a bit toothy and he switched to a younger model; and who can blame him with those amazing eyes looking up?

He's currently dining out on hamburgers. He'll realise you're the steak at home eventually and come crawling back. It'll be your move then.
1533  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Gift cards providers on: April 04, 2020, 10:26:38 AM
Can anyone check to see if "eGifter" is working on their side or it's only on mine?

All I'm getting are some spinning blue circles.

What country are you in?

Codes can be a lottery. I've seen people saying some worked and some didn't when they were in other countries. If you want a code to buy a whole machine then I wouldn't risk it.

Someone may have a suggestion that's not listed here. Or you could find a shipping forwarder or someone here to buy and send for you.
1534  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The Binance card is here on: April 04, 2020, 10:02:10 AM
In before the whole card.binance.com subdomain gets quietly removed. Cheesy

Looks like someone at the bank finally did some due diligence on "Moon Tech Pty Ltd" and decided to squash the deal. Probably a smart move. Now Binance is scrambling to find another partner.

The stupid thing is Binance could take over the world if they chose to knuckle down and get sensible. They're still acting like horny teens who've painted their windows black and shout about not asking to be born.
1535  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best debit cards to spend BTC on: April 04, 2020, 09:43:38 AM
You're mixing 2 different things: tax evasion and money laundering.
True the Bitcoin card providers have the KYC verification in place but do you think it's to fight the tax evasion? They do not care and don't have to snitch their users. Do you think they exchange their information with every tax department? Nope.

It's only a matter of time before any above ground service will get a request from the tax man if they haven't already. It's not a great deal of work, they can't refuse and it might snare them plenty of tax. Anyone who believes otherwise is a fool.

A debit card provider is fully plugged in to the existing system and will have to bow to it whenever ordered.
1536  Economy / Economics / Re: What N America and Europe need to start on now! on: April 04, 2020, 09:37:23 AM
I didn't want to develop this but job insecurity for example is the fault/ due to the wild strict version of capitalism adopted by the USA.

The capitalism we have is a long, long way from what its proponents will admit to it being in public. It has a huge socialist streak however that socialism is restricted entirely to corporate interests who get bailed out, indulged and protected while the real people are left to rot.

Look at defence procurement. They ration the work they give out between companies very carefully to make sure they all get a piece of the pie. It's sensible, you can't let entire arms of industry die, but it's no different from a politburo handing out stuff to different tractor factories no matter how dire they are.

If any politician proposed the measures they give their masters to the average person in the street they'd be immediately hounded out for being a flat out commie.
1537  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Ohio Resident Charged With Laundering $311M in Bitcoin for AlphaBay on: April 04, 2020, 09:07:26 AM
I wouldn't call that a money laundering operation, but rather an unlicensed money transmitter. The latter is fairly common and carries much smaller penalties and less stigma.

Hmm. Not sure. A mixer only has one job - disguise the source of your funds. That's the only reason it exists and that's the only reason people use them. Now of course for most people it's for privacy, not disguising the proceeds of crime. I'm not sure the law can be bothered to delineate the difference. It's the intent of the service provider rather than the needs of the users that they'll go after.
1538  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-02] Bitcoin Merchant Resilience Amid Pandemic Surprises Analysts on: April 04, 2020, 08:58:26 AM
I must be assuming that those who are spending much money in gambling are those people who are not at the economic bottom of the society.

Where I'm at the ONLY places that are awash with betting shops are the the shittiest areas. I've driven through some places where there were more of them than conventional stores. Maybe it's a totally different demographic online.

The populations lucky enough to get some sort of government bailout will still have a big reduction in income and a lot of uncertainty ahead. Even if my head remained above water if my lovely wife refused to give up the gambling she'd be told to go self isolate somewhere else for good.

https://www.theblockcrypto.com/post/60886/binance-quietly-scrubs-visa-mentions-from-its-payment-card-website

All references to Visa have now been removed from the blog post. That leaves, um, Mastercard? If not them then perhaps they'll create their own global card payments monolith. It could take a little while with a few bumps in the road, if there is one at all.

but ChartBuddy's most posts were completely posted by a bot.

I slowly grew to hate chartbuddy in the depths of 2014/15. It was often the only poster several times in a row over multiple hours. As if it was rubbing our faces in our deadness.
