Scrypt sleep started @ block 62000 if I am not mistaken. So it is already activated.

Which Boinc projects are you running?

Are we sure the scrypt-sleep function is working properly...? My BOINC Daily Credits seems to actually be decreasing (I've gone from 1373 down to 1360 credits since block 62000)... If my gpu is spending time sleeping it should be working on BOINC projects and INCREASING my daily credits, shouldn't it...?

Hey Heretolearn,

I understand you are a supporter of Gridcoin, but sometimes some of the things you say may not be received well by some people.

Example:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reason : People are already starting to ask about it .. and its been about 3 months or more since the launch and yet no linux client ! This won't go down well with the majority of new comers who are to adopt GRC.

Solution : Either the dev can do it himself or hire someone to do it .. because it has been way too long (all other coins generally have all this sorted before launch)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This sounds like you are giving orders!!!

Rob said before that one of the programmers has left and all the workload has fallen on him. So when someone who is under pressure already with all the things
that have to be done, that may be very insulting!!

This is a very complicated project and Rob has said that he has a full time job, so it is quite a bit for him to handle.

If you want to contribute something then please do so, but do not demand or post those kind of strong worded statements.

Rob has done one hell of a job so far and he does not need someone telling him what to do or who to hire.

Things we need to get right before asking coincapmarket to put our coin there :

1) Linux client with mining capabilities

Reason : People are already starting to ask about it .. and its been about 3 months or more since the launch and yet no linux client ! This won't go down well with the majority of new comers who are to adopt GRC.

Solution : Either the dev can do it himself or hire someone to do it .. because it has been way too long (all other coins generally have all this sorted before launch)

2) More reliable block explorer

Reason : Sometimes the block explorer stalls and does not move ahead and sometimes even resets. This can result in the coin being removed from coincapmarket if its not reliable. It will result in GRC ending up to be a pump and dump coin to an extent (not entirely though ).

Solution : Maybe have 2 versions of the block explorer so that we can refer to either one when the other is down. Also a more comprehensive style block explorer is needed .. something based on ABE perhaps which can show details of the transactions and addresses when searched through it.

3) More marketing

Reason : If we get need to go big we possibly need to tell everybody about GRC .. even people we dont know.

Solution : Every member here should start sending messages to people about GRC (I'm sure many are) but we need more of it. Also  tag line on the site saying something like "Green, Efficient and Useful to Society" Coin. Another thing is a small writeup in a PDF explaining how this coin has the potential to transform the way cryptocurrency exists. This should be like how Vertcoin do it on their site (for the layman but effective and short). If you guys want I could do a write up on it.

NOTE : All this needs to be done on an urgent basis because coincapmarket people are not going to put more than 100 coins on their website apparently. There are about 88 already and he has promised to put up like 5 more .. so we need to get the above done quick and asap or we might miss the bus.

Let me know if I've missed out on anything guys.

Thanks

Thanks. Good to hear.

That is an excellent article. Thankyou.

Once you sift through the bullshit and bullshitters, there are very helpful, knowledgable people here.

I wrote an article on this very topic about a week ago. I do not recommend any particular currency, just some criteria and things to look for when choosing a cryptocurrency to invest in.

Let me know what you think.

Even if they say no I suppose we can just pool a little bit from the Gridcoin community and send them a BTC donation.

I actually sent them an email asking if they were interested in accepting donation in Gridcoin.

Cool. You're way ahead of me. No answer from them yet? (Hope they didn't say no).

Is that site legit? If so I will donate some of the ones I mined this morning.

I have been solomining this coin.  Have almost 10K worth.  I know what I'm doing with them.  www.cryptoforkids.com has it's 1st donation!!  All the CCC's I mine are going there!!!
1530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: February 07, 2014, 07:11:24 PM
You should prob sent Rob an email, see what he says. I honestly have no idea.

I've asked this question before too can anybody help me with the answer ?

Who do the "beacons" go to while cpu mining ? Is it being destroyed or to some central authority ? Never really understood that part.

I think we need to get involved in this. So far they have raised ~ 3 BTC.

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-funds-cancer-research-project/

Should we all donate individually or maybe 1 person can administer a btc acc and make a donation in Gridcoin's name?

How about seeing if Yonemoto will take donations in GRC? He can then exchange for BTC or fiat if he wants to.

I'd guess we'll want to do something similar with the various BOINC project sponsors - help/encourage them to take GRC donations for their various causes.

Is this the kind of thing anonerd wants to pursue?

Hey Guys,

I love the idea of a network that pushes humanity for the good.
So, I would like to contribute to the marketing part to foster the acceptance of GRC.
I like to offer my time to aggregate and collect what is going on in promotion:

This is still an early draft. What is out there that I am missing?

1534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [FUD] Russia, China & Apple ban Bitcoins. Gox closing. Is this the end? on: February 07, 2014, 03:28:19 PM
What, you think Russians all of the sudden are gonna stop because the Government said so? LOL . A lot of people in Russia have been waiting for a way to stick it to Putin and I can tell you cryptos will be embraced by even more Russians now. The more they speak against it, the more it will spread.

There is Curecoin already, maybe Charitycoin or DonateCoin or DonateBucks or DonorCoin, DonorDollar etc...

He looks like a very established member, let's hope things turn out as planned.

I can confirm solo mining is working, already got a few blocks.

I really hope the devs do actually contribute something somewhere and that this doesn't turn into some kind of elaborate deceit.

I guess time will tell.

DEV Looks Legit, Hero member and a real programmer not a copy and paste merchant. you just have to look at his profile to see this.
I seriously doubt that he would tarnish his reputation and credibility by creating a scam or deceit coin.

Here is my view on the situation. I think now that the speculators have moved to the alt coin marketplace we might see price drops on Bitcoin. Litecoin too has been in a dead zone now for a while. All those retailers will dump their Bitcoin the moment they get it = selling pressure.

1540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [GRC] Gridcoin Marketing and Strategy on: February 06, 2014, 10:34:24 PM
Before we start on any of that we have to wait for the voting of the new Logo and then we can go from there. Cryptsy and Crypto-Trade have been sent many messages and they are fully aware of Gridcoin. They will list it when they decide to, so there is nothing to be done there!
