1562  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Poolserverj WORKMAKER EDITION RELEASED - 0.4.0rc1 on: December 09, 2011, 03:19:32 PM
Don't have a problem with Namecoin, when they officially released Bitcoind 0.50 and I changed over to that the segmentation faults stopped

What patches are you using on the ArtForz fork?

Davinci: what Namecoind did you end up using for your merged mining pool?
1564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [800,000 DVC remaining bounty] for Devcoin preliminary testing on: December 09, 2011, 01:40:47 PM
I would talk to Shads the devloper of PoolserverJ about this, I am sure he could give you some really good information

from my limited understanding I believe it creates a sort of virtual chain (bitcoin-mm) comprised of work from the parent and child chains at a user defined ratio - the proof of work is submitted to this "virtual" chain and thus both the parent and the child

as long as they are compatible with merged mining it does not matter which one is the parent and which one is the child

Markm, I am the admin of devtome, let me check it out, I know it was sending out confirmation emails before because I tested it

I will let you know...

I live in upstate NY, Saranac is the best! It wouldn't be Christmas without the 12 beers of winter!
1568  Bitcoin / Mining / box porn thread - who has the sexiest? [just for fun] on: December 08, 2011, 01:45:16 PM

I was cleaning up my office today and thought I would take a pic of my boxes (yes some of them are beer boxes) Smiley

Now I am curious who has the sexiest box porn to offer?

post pics here!!!

someone needs to patch the daemon in order to make it accept the merged mining, follow what ArtForz did for his namecoind fork that will give you a good idea
ArtForZ didn't do Namecoin. 'vinced' did. I ported namecoin's merged mining support to i0coin and ixcoin recently. I could do the same for devcoin assuming it's similar. Is devcoin based on the standard bitcoin git repository?

You need to be aware that it's a blockchain forking change though. It'd have to have a block number that it turns on and all clients would need to update. Those that don't will be on an incompatible fork of the chain.

just to clarify..

I understood this to be true as well, we were all told vinced was merged mining compatible however myself and a few other pool operators have had zero luck getting vinced namecoind to mine any blocks at all in merged mining not even on testnet

I can speak from experience that I have used ArtForz namecoind and it works with merged mining, I have personally merged mined Bitcoin and Namecoin blocks on my own pool with his daemon...

1570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Step by Step Tutorial: How To Setup A Merged Mining BTC/NMC Pool on: December 08, 2011, 03:25:42 AM
go to where the daemons are

to check to see if you have solved any blocks

do

./bitcoind listtransactions

./namecoind listtransactions

you can also open back up the screens by doing

screen -r

and then putting the number of the screen

like screen -r 31114

or whatever when you do screen -r it will give you some numbers to chose from

remember to always exit out of a screen by doing control A+D

to put it back in the background

when you find the screen for PoolServerJ you will see it submitting shares and syncing with both the bitcoin and namecoin networks on the console

1571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Step by Step Tutorial: How To Setup A Merged Mining BTC/NMC Pool on: December 08, 2011, 12:53:18 AM
thank you for the tip Smiley

yes it will mine namecoin and bitcoin as long as you used ArtForz fork of namecoind which if you used the binary i provided it is the right one.

As far as I know the same setup my tutorial instructs on is being used by yourbtc.net and at least one other public merge mining pool

to view the shares you just click 'shares' in phpmyadmin

1572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Step by Step Tutorial: How To Setup A Merged Mining BTC/NMC Pool on: December 08, 2011, 12:22:50 AM
it should be fixed now, go ahead and try it

you know what you did wrong? Smiley

you named your database pool instead of poolserverj.native like it said to in the tutorial

because if you rename the database you have to change it in the conf

let me know how it works out!!!

Smiley

yeah there is some display bug I need to work out but they are being calculated correctly

As far as merged mining compatible, the pool is ready to go as soon as the daemon is, in fact I have a namecoind and bitcoind already running.

Our pool will be merged mining within seconds of the daemon being patched compatible

there is a 120 BTC bounty for the coder who patches devcoind to be merged mining compatible so far I have not seen a lot of progress...
1575  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Step by Step Tutorial: How To Setup A Merged Mining BTC/NMC Pool on: December 07, 2011, 01:21:01 PM
what command did you use to create the database?

what is the database called them if its not poolserverj_native?

if you did this correctly

Code:
coinserver~: sudo mysqladmin create poolserverj_native -p[password]

you would have created the database poolserverj_native

email me your poolserverj.config

and I will take a look at it for you

btw I compiled cgminer for you if you want to use it for testing

wget http://cablepair.devcoin.org/cgminer

just make sure you chmod +x cgminer before you try to run it

1576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Step by Step Tutorial: How To Setup A Merged Mining BTC/NMC Pool on: December 07, 2011, 01:30:23 AM
did you make it executable by doing chmod +x cgminer-cpuonly ?

if still still does not work you need a 32 bit binary
or to compile your own

I cant do anything tonight but I can help you with it tomorrow, in fact for a very reasonable fee I would be willing to ssh into your server and fix whatever is wrong with it

let me know tomorrow
got to go
-cp

1577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Step by Step Tutorial: How To Setup A Merged Mining BTC/NMC Pool on: December 07, 2011, 12:13:04 AM
Finally this message showed up
ssh: connect to host http port 22: Connection timed out
tar: http\://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/cgminer-2.0.8-x86_64-built.tar.bz2: Cannot open: Input/output error
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

lol sorry (cut/paste mistake)

Code:
wget http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/cgminer-2.0.8-x86_64-built.tar.bz2
tar -xvf cgminer-2.0.8-x86_64-built.tar.bz2
cd cgminer-2.0.8
chmod +x cgminer-cpuonly
1578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Step by Step Tutorial: How To Setup A Merged Mining BTC/NMC Pool on: December 06, 2011, 11:33:57 PM
no prob

try

Code:
wget http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/cgminer-2.0.8-x86_64-built.tar.bz2
tar -xvf http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/cgminer-2.0.8-x86_64-built.tar.bz2
cd cgminer-2.0.8
chmod +x cgminer-cpuonly

then try
Code:
./cgminer-cpuonly -o http://127.0.0.1:899 -u user -p pass

let me know
1579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Step by Step Tutorial: How To Setup A Merged Mining BTC/NMC Pool on: December 06, 2011, 11:08:47 PM
I would try mining first from the local machine , get cgminer and put it on the local linux box

user ./cgminer-cpuonly -o http://127.0.0.1:8999 -u user -p pass

find out if its a network problem or a pool problem

let me know what happens and we can go from there.

The error in phpmyadmin was because you did not enter an ID # but its ok, it puts one in for you - no big deal and it will still work

1580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [800,000 DVC remaining bounty] for Devcoin preliminary testing on: December 06, 2011, 06:33:34 PM
How much of DVC (from whole 50 000) per block is for miners? Isn't it 5000 DVC? I'm asking because i just found on pool.devcoin.org on stats page following data:

Block #    Confirmations    Time found            Duration    Round Shares    Total Amount of your reward
20734    2                     12/06 9:49 pm    1.17 Min    32                    5675.84134615 DVC
20734    3                     12/06 9:47 pm    2.75 Min    32                    5675.84134615 DVC

checking this out now to make sure thank you for pointing it out
