If this goes well, would you be willing to auction off my 7970 next?  I'd gladly accept $550 shipped for it and the remainder could be split between you and a charity, although I would like to pick the charity (ASPCA).   Wink

if you or anyone else for that matter is interested in doing a benefit raffle please go to contact us on the web site and fill out the form

thanks!

I think 300 bitcoins for 100bitcoin prize is too large cut.

Let's do some math.

300 BTC - 20% donation (60 BTC) - cost of prize (112 BTC) == 128 BTC profit (42%)

This does not include his time to make the site, setup bit-pay, deal with this thread, pick a winner, etc. So let's say that's 30 hours.

128BTC / 30 hours of work == 4.267 BTC per hour (~$20 / hr)

If you think it is wrong for someone to make $20/hr in BTC to let forum members have a fun and a chance of winning a pretty cool prize, maybe you should try to do better while taking a smaller cut.

Thank you James

and thank you everyone for being patient for these little bugs that had to be worked out, I kind of rushed this site today because I told Theymos I would be ready to launch on Saturday so he could start advertising it and was already two days behind.

Right now I think everything is working well the way it is supposed to, I will be refining things a little bit as we go and overall I think its going to be a fun raffle. 1 in 300 Chance are really pretty decent odds to win a really nice GPU while contributing to the forum at the same time!

Thanks to everyone who is participating and who has helped me so far

and thank you Matt for giving me the idea if you ever want to team up on a raffle let me know!

I would like to continue to do Bitcoin Benefit Raffles on CoinRaffle.com and this 7970 raffle is really my way of getting it all started I would love to do benefit raffles for bitcoin accepting groups and organizations to help them with fund raising.

The site also (still) fails for me.  I am running noscript though.

reload the site, it appears to be working for everyone else. If you are blocking iframe you wont be able to buy tickets at the moment but the rest of the site is pretty standard stuff and should not be blocked.

http://www.coinraffle.com/index.php/buy-a-ticket
works now

thanks for pointing this out to me so quick, something must of happened when I was polishing the site up a little bit right before the launch

have to go finish straightening things up but you can buy tickets here http://www.coinraffle.com/index.php/buy-a-ticket

or by Clicking By A Ticket from the menu

thanks!
Did you mean to have it in a frame? (It wasn't before)
In a frame, I can't see the Bit-pay SSL stuff to be sure that it it secure. Of course, I can load the page outside of the frame, and that shows that all is well.

this was just a temporary fix so tickets can be ordered - trying to figure out why the form code was being stripped from that page now

EDIT: 05/07/2012

This is what I am willing to do. I am reluctant to change the terms of the raffle but on the other hand I am really busy with another project right now which is why I am not on the forum much lately so I will set a deadline.

I will give this a maximum of six more weeks.

If all the tickets do not sell by June 18th - I will use the first block solved after 12:01AM UTC on June 18th to Pick a Winner from tickets 1-300, if it picks a ticket number that is not sold we will go to the second solved block after 12:01 on June 18th and continue on in that fashion until the raffle ticket number picker picks a number of a ticket that has been sold, as soon as a winner is picked I will ship the prize to the winner that same day.

If the Tickets sell out before June 18th we will pick the winner as described in the beginning

and Either way no matter how many tickets I sell I will still donate 60 BTC to the Forum.

I am sorry this was not as much of a success as I thought it would of been, I will continue to advertise the best I can and I welcome you to do the same and send me any suggestions you might have on how we can sell more tickets.

Thanks for participating, and thanks to those who have showed patience and composure.

lol

im not talking about in general

i have been able to do that too with certain companies

but HIS is very strict - I was talking about this situation in particular

NO receipt = NO RMA

Tony suggested to take a look at this convention in Chicago. http://glamourcon.com/vendors.html

I'll be willing to foot the total booth cost for this venue. Even for two adjacent booths.

I'm not sure how much latitude we'll have in booth designs, but I envision a country backdrop constructed out of barn wood of which I'll provide, build and deliver.

Think Daisy Duke:

i'm able to consistently get ~150-200%, and 300% with decent luck and perfect timing, back in the day. Tongue

Back in the days, you had a dozen prop pools to hop. The more pools, the higher your profits.

But I think you guys are talking about different %s. With perfect timing you can get an almost arbitrary high PPS on the shares you hop with. Just hop away earlier and your PPS on those shares will go up. But your total profit while hopping just 1 prop pool  with your own hashes will go down, and its not likely you will get >135% average hopping just a single pool, particularly when its being hopped by 4x its regular hashrate.  Thats what the other poster meant I think. I doubt you'll get much more than 110% on pools like bitclockers.

But if you could indeed hop with leased shares from gpumax, then thats not the number to look at. Its the PPS for the shares you hop with. And in theory you can achieve an almost arbitrary high PPS on those, limited only by your ratio of the pools hashrate. But thats assuming you can time them perfectly, which I think we all agree, you cant, not with gpumax.

perhaps though, some other payout schemes are somehow vulnerable to sudden and massive changes in hashrate? Maybe organofcorti or Meni Rosenfeld could comment on that? I just saw on a thread on slush regular miners complaining they are losing on short rounds. Could of course be due to regular hoppers, but maybe its doable with gpumax too. I dont know exactly how Slushes score based system works

Good Point p4Man but I have to ask - when was "back in the days?" last summer? lol
