Well theres not much to tell - their DCTO contacted me in december...

Theres another thread about it here in the trading forum - I did not reveal who it was at the time because I was actually considering taking the offer, but it kind of pissed off some of my shareholders so I decided against it - and I am glad I did. Smiley

OK

This quarters dividends have been paid! I hope to be able to double that in the next quarter! This is the type of business that starts out slow but gets bigger and better as time goes on with reoccurring payments.

Thanks again for supporting the Bitcoin Web Hosting Company!

Dear Shareholders and Friends,

I am still working on integrating our new accounting system WHMCS but I do have the old accounts imported in and I have enough information to pay dividends. Domain name sales are not reflected here because for this quarter we were buying them and selling them at the same price - however as part of our new WHMCS system I have applied for a registrars reseller account that will automate into this system and we will be able to make profits from domain sales.

Here is our Q2 Breakdown

Jan 2012 - 3 Starter Accounts Carried Over from Previous Quarter - $15
Jan 2012 - 5 x Starter Account Signups - $25
Jan 2012 - 1 x Deluxe Account Signup - $10
Jan 2012 - 1 x Ultimate Account Signup - $20

Feb 2012 - All Customers Renew in Feb - $70
Feb 2012 - 4 x Starter Account Signups - $20
Feb 2012 - 2 x Ultimate Account Signups - $40

March 2012 - 1 Starter Package Customer Does Not Renew ($5)
March 2012 - All Other Customers Renew - $130
March 2012 - 3 x Starter Account Signups - $15
March 2012 - 1 x Deluxe Signup - $10
March 2012 - 1 x Ultimate Signup - $20

Gross Income for Q2 - $170
Expenses for Q2 (ISP Fees) - $74.85
Net Profits for Q2 - $95.15

I feel very good about this quarter, we are the #1 Bitcoin web hosting service and we are gaining momentum. We now own all of the BEST Bitcoin related web hosting domains and Our new WHMCS system is incredible not only does it improve our accounting it gives us full automation and a much better way to make sales, keep customers, offer technical support, sell domains and so much more! I thank all of the share holders who have been supporting us and I encourage you to hold onto those shares so we can celebrate an even better quarter three months from now! Exciting things are sure to come!

mtgox/last price right now is 4.94000 - I will now calculate $95.15 in dividends denominated to that value and pay share holders on the GLBSE

thanks again for supporting the Bitcoin Web Hosting Company!

What is a good and stable frontend then to use on a production server?

A good LAMP stack and about 1500 hours of work should get your started.  I speak from experience.

But seriously, if you have to ask that question you should not be running a pool, it's just a simple fact of life.

hes right, besides there are no open source front ends that are suitable for running a public production pool

heh there really are no open source turn key pool front ends that dont have problems, not that I know of.

I believe he lives in the UK.

Dracula traveled to the UK to search for victims too. Home base was still Transylvania. Not clear where the goods ship from.

LOL I take it he did not get my joke Tongue

the simplecoin version that is available to the public has a lot of bugs in it - it should not of even been released in the state it is in now

some people have made half assed attempts at fixing it up but its just not going to work for a production pool

one of the major problems that will require a good deal of work to fix is the fact that if the pool actually does find a block it does not update the front end or database to reflect that found block, it also does not credit anyones account or allows them to get paid

this entire mechanism is broken

there are also all kinds of little things that are broken too, a lot of the cronjobs dont work, all kinds of stuff

I highly advise against using this front end for anything

Vladimir the GPU impailer dumps all his Bitcoin mining rigs

how much is shipping from Transylvania anyways?
774  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Pushpool Web Frontend] Simplecoin v5.0 Opensource PHP/MySQL - NEW RELEASE on: April 11, 2012, 12:26:33 PM
there is a potential issue with the deletion of workers which will cause issue to the whole back end of simplecoin

i have done a quick fix

Code:
edit pool_worker mysql
disabled enum('yes','no') NOT NULL DEFAULT 'no'

//Check if username already exists
$usernameExistsQ = mysql_query("SELECT id,username FROM `pool_worker` WHERE `associatedUserId` = ".$userId." AND `username` = '".$inputUser."'");
$usernameExists = mysql_num_rows($usernameExistsQ);
$usernameExists1 = mysql_fetch_object($usernameExistsQ);
$workerId = $usernameExists1->username;

}else if($usernameExists == 1){
mysql_query("UPDATE `pool_worker` SET disabled = 'no' WHERE username = '".$workerId."' AND `associatedUserId` = '".$userId."'")or sqlerr(__FILE__,__LINE__);
returnError = "Reinstated Worker";
}

//Delete worker OH NOES!
mysql_query("UPDATE `pool_worker` SET `disabled` = 'yes' WHERE `id` = '".$workerId."' AND `associatedUserId` = '".$userId."'")or sqlerr(__FILE__,__LINE__);
}

$getWorkers = mysql_query("SELECT `id`, `username`, `password`, active, hashrate, monitor, disabled FROM `pool_worker` WHERE `associatedUserId` = '".$userId."' AND disabled = 'no'");
Thanks for the effort! Are you interested in fixing some of the other bugs that simplecoin has?

It would be really nice if someone updated / fixed this and released it - I love playing with pool software and for whatever reason it seems like no one ever follows through and continues to develop them after they are initially released.

People are too busy I guess....

I know I would certainly donate to a cause such as this though..
775  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTCWebHost.com - Share Holder Payment coming 04/09/2012 on: April 10, 2012, 11:14:56 PM
UPDATE:

Worked all day on moving into our new awesome accounting system WHMCS!
 Had some hiccups along the way getting the Bit-Pay module to co-operate but so far it looks like its mostly working
 This gives us so many benefits from the way I was doing things before and makes these accounts actually manageable!
 The WHMCS license is approx $16 per month, although share holders will not see this as an expense until next quarter.
 You can get a sneak peak of the new system by going to the web site and clicking hosting.
 I am having a problem getting the accounts to import into the system properly, I am working on this ATM and hope to have all old accounts     imported properly into the new system by tomorrow, and will make shareholder dividend payments as soon as that is completed
 Please know this is my #1 priority and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for being patient with me.
 This is a growing pain that will take BTCWebHost to the next level and continue to keep us the #1 Bitcoin Web Hosting Company!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

I spent nearly all day today moving all our accounts over to the new accounting system and I should have all the math completed by the end of the day tomorrow so I can pay out share holders accurately, again I thank you for your patience and due to the work I am putting in to setup this new accounting system we wont have problems like these in future quarters!

stay tuned! Smiley

Matt: You totally read not panned out as something it was not
I was talking about the broken referral system, and confusion about email hashing etc
Ah okay.

Not sure where you get 400% from though - even if you count the 20% I am giving the forum - its only about half of that.
I wasn't being serious. Those points were mostly jokes to troll people who thought I was scamming them by having a raffle in the first place.

Smiley

I remember typing "not panned out" the first time and thinking "matt is going to destroy me for that" hahahaha

but seriously I know your raffle was a success thats why I did mine! Considering your raffle was the first one in the existence of Bitcoin (as far as I know - someone check the Guinness book of records) it went pretty smoothly and you were able to start the development of the Bitcoin block chain raffle system which is pretty cool - maybe someone will take what you started and I built on and make it even better.

Someone like Bit-Pay could really make the whole thing streamlined and take it to the next level. I am just a web designer / developer - not a full pledged programmer by any means  and I can only take it so far.

I like you Matt because you know how to make money and your not afraid to do so, what we really need to do in his Bitcoin community is stop this stigma about making a profit. It seems like everyone gets so pissed when people try to make money. Not sure where I got this from but I always thought the point of business was to make a profit but The way some people act around here you would think I was a terrorist or something.

 "Your making double your money back - how DARE YOU!" Where I come from that's just called having a good day.

shut up and sell more raffle tickets I want to win my 7970 already!

+1 lol  Don't worry Im on it Smiley

779  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] Bitcointalk Benefit Raffle - Win a Saphire Radeon HD 7970 - 1 BTC to Enter on: April 09, 2012, 11:23:39 PM
No disrespect to Matt, he did a really good job and had some very innovative ideas about the raffle (and gave me the idea for Coinraffle) it just did not pan out as good as he had hoped.

None taken, it was a first attempt. I don't understand what you mean about "not panning out as good as I had hoped". That BFL Single was originally purchased for $450,  the raffle brought in over $1,200, and all it took was some photography and a google doc. If $750 for a few days of trolling the forums is "not panning out", then all I have to say is "lol wut?".

Also, greedy or not, I'm not an idiot. I knew that 0.5BTC would be way more enticing than 1BTC> etc. If you want people to appreciate something as high risk as a raffle or lottery of any kind, you have to make your barrier to entry very low to account for people's psychological rationalizations for throwing small amounts of money away.

Rule #1 of raffles: Don't let the public know how much you're actually making or they'll stop participating out of pure jealousy or awareness of the evil genius of it.

Rule #2 of raffles: When discussing terms of the raffles in a public forum, never discuss EARNINGS, only rules. Participation from a community is vital obviously (you're not making money, you're merely moving other people's money from their wallets to yours), but they should never participate in the decision of how much money you make, and for much less evil reasons than it sounds like-- because the majority of people participating will have no idea of how much anything is actually worth and will always feel cheated, especially when it's their fault.

Rule #3 of raffles: If you're going to require 400% the price of an item be met like some kind of a reserve auction, learn how to use this code:

Code:
[size=4pt][/size]

Matt: You totally read not panned out as something it was not

I was talking about the broken referral system, and confusion about email hashing etc

I know you did very good on your raffle, thats what inspired me to do one as well.

Not sure where you get 400% from though - even if you count the 20% I am giving the forum - its only about half of that.

If you look at how raffles are done in the real world this is a very common way of doing it - you have a set number of tickets and you sell them until they are gone.

I don't need to put things in small print - that would be deceitful, I am running an honest auction with honest terms in black and white - it was either going to pass or fail, I tried it out and So far it's passing...

Bottom Line is this:

 I am making money, helping out my favorite forum and some lucky person is going to get a great GPU for only 1 Bitcoin.

You guys can keep trying to convince me I screwed up here but from where I sit - its still looking pretty sweet Smiley
