1561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we not abusing decentralization? on: April 05, 2019, 05:52:19 AM
The fact that something is decentralized does not mean it won't be abused. In fact, in my own opinion, the decentralized power of crypto has contributed seriously to the abuse by many people. This is because when there is no center of authority that takes control and responsible for the problem then everyone will be looking for loopholes. today a lot of projects hide under the umbrella of this decentralized nature of the blockchain to steal investors money which brings more harm to the trust people have for cryptocurrency at large.
1562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How big is the role of the government in the development of Bitcoin? on: April 05, 2019, 05:45:11 AM
Government can play important role in the development of bitcoin by introduce or making policies that increase the general acceptability of the cryptocurrency. For example, Banks are control by the Central Banks which is own by the Government. Central  bank can make policy that sees all the bank trading and exchanging fiat for crypto and vice versa. This mean that many people will have privileges to obtain even loan with low interest and also make transaction easily.
1563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Price is not everything! on: March 29, 2019, 04:45:35 AM
People are more interested in the price rather than the benefit of the technology because they want to make short term profit and we are all guilty of this because this is what actually makes us to know crypto in the first place and not the benefit of the underlying technology. However, ever since I know the consensus behind blockchain, I have been forced to want to learn more about the usefulness of this technology and how it can be used to shape the problem we are constantly facing particularly in the third world countries
1564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Discussion: Altcoin (own their blockchain) vs Alt-token (relie on other B-chain) on: March 28, 2019, 05:53:25 AM
Depending on how serious the project is. A project that intend to improve already existing blockchain consensus will be a good project to invest for long time but at this stage the reliability on the successive implementation of the project is the most important thing. Platform such as hetachain and Smilo can actually be one of the best blockchain project if only the project execute their plan as indicated in the whitepaper without unnecessary delay from the dev
1565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FIGHTING AGAINST ICO SCAM on: March 28, 2019, 05:46:16 AM
Not all ICOs are worthless just look at projects like Ethereum and EOS who successfully raised funds using this method and are now top ranked platforms, however, you are correct in highlighting the fact that this form of crowd funding has been exploited by scammers and professionals who lack the necessary skills or experience to launch a startup and is no longer a popular avenue of raising funds, but all this is starting to change with IEOs and STOs gaining popularity that can offer more protection for investors
I read one of the post of yahoo62278 and I realized reason why many people are taking advantage of blockchain technology to scam people by creating scam project. The cost of setting up a project is very cheap and this is exactly why we have so many scam projects. more than 50% of the project are using fake images of people as team member with copy and paste whitepaper. I have make it clear that people should stay clear of any project that are not legally registered in any country because it can be suicidal.
1566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FIGHTING AGAINST ICO SCAM on: March 28, 2019, 05:40:36 AM
It is difficult to define when an ICO is a scam. For example Desico project seemed to me a legit project but  when
the  bounty ended they decided not to pay the hunters only thanked them that they were promoting the project
for months. So, from the perspective of the hunters DESICO is a  SCAM.
it can be called a Scam in the sense that they do not fulfil their promise and if such project has not indicate that they might not pay hunters prior to when the bounty campaign is launch, We may say they are not. And if not then it is a scam because they do not have any agreement that bind their intentions. However if such Thing happens to hunters then investors too need to get worried because one day, they are also going to be cheated just like the hunters.
1567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are Social Networks like Facebook and Twitter moving towards blockchain? on: March 28, 2019, 05:33:58 AM
we have heard alot of rumour about big social network such as facebook wanting to adopt blockchain technology although up till now, facebook categorically hasnt make any statement concerning this. However, maintaining platform such as facebook and twitter is not an easy task. the robustness of such platform make blockchain technology the best for them because pieces of information can well be managed by the technology at a very cheap price.
1568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are Social Networks like Facebook and Twitter moving towards blockchain? on: March 28, 2019, 05:29:37 AM
If you understand blockchain well, you'll have an easy answer to that.

One answer I have in mind is, blockchain is seen by these social media giants as a powerful technology — powerful in a sense that it is decentralized. By being decentralized, it won't have to be controlled by any central authority or government. There will be reduced (to zero) taxes, easier transaction based on smart contracts, lesser manpower on the part of FB and TW (hence the huge money that can be saved).

Any visionary would see blockchain taking over most business transactions in the near future.
I agree with all your reasons except the decentralized one. Most social network will never want a situation whereby they do not have total control over their project. Take for example facebook. Facebook has become one of the social networks that have millions of traffic every hour. features such as ads are totally controlled by the team and this is the reason why you cant remove ads that are displayed on your timeline because that is their major source of finance
1569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What causes tokens been dumped after a successful ICO. on: March 27, 2019, 04:19:40 PM
Many of the point is true but you also need to know that hunters too contribute immensely to the dumping of token. In fact, there are many hunters that are also investors so the dumping is from both side. Above all from my experience, I have also noticed that some project dev deliberately dump token in order to crash the price. Also rate of dumping can also be influenced by the listing exchange itself. from my own view 95% of token listed on exchange platform such as Latoken always end up hurribly dumped.
1570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bounty hunter paid USDT? on: March 27, 2019, 04:14:16 PM
There are many reasons why bounty hunters are not being paid in USDT just as it is for other crypto such as BTC or ETH except in some cases as it is seen in the services board. From my experience most project do not want to bear all the risk and one of the way to transfer the risk is to promise hunters reward in token that the project intend to create. This will cost effective than buying USDT, BTC or ETH and reward bounty hunters. at the long run, if the project become unsuccessful, everyone will bear the risk
1571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CoinMarketCap faking volume on: March 27, 2019, 03:40:07 PM
by the way, we are all aware of the news that almost 95% of the existing exchange platform make use of BOT in order to increase trading volume and if exchange platforms are doing this then I am not surprised that site like CMC is also faking volume. Alot of projects are looking for a way to make profit from this hard crypto period and they can do anything possible to make listing on CMC. A long time ago I was told a coin must have a particular trading volume before CMC can list them on their website but this is no so as many new coin are always looking for means to get listed by taking the back door
1572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CoinMarketCap faking volume on: March 27, 2019, 03:33:29 PM
We should all boycott coinmarketcap.  They have been faking volumes and listing scams on their website for years.  They also have scam service ads running on their website.  We need to hit them in the wallet and stop using their site all together.

It wont be easy to boycott them, in fact there are still many people visiting CMC everyday compared to other similar service. I do believe 90% visitors knows about this faking volume by CMC but they still use it for personal purpose like checking price of their assets.
It is difficult to boycott because they have been in the business for a while and they have made name for themselves. However it is quiet difficult nowadays to detect scam project because I strongly believe such a reputable site like cmc will not deliberately list a scam project on their website. take for example, here on BTT, a lot of high reputable member have lost their respect just for wrongly promoting shady project and so also cmc is not left behind. Cmc still remain the best out of all similar website.
1573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy on ICO or buy after being exchanged? on: February 25, 2019, 06:58:56 PM
depending on so many factors. Since generally the price of token may fall when listed on exchange, you may consider buying after listing but you may not be able to buy more especially when the token is not listed on good exchange. I have seen so many token hardly have 0.1BTC volume in 24 hours. except if you are very patient. you can be buying little by little and be accumulating the token.
1574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coins to invest in for a beginner on: February 25, 2019, 06:54:06 PM
you need to be careful since you are new to investing in crypto. I will suggest you invest in BTC, ETH and XRP but do not be in hurry to take your investment except otherwise. long term investment is what beginner like you can make. Also do not forget that there are many resourceful crypto trading ebook out there that you can learn how to trade effectively and lastly be careful on the type of website you want to start trading. I will suggest you register on top 10 exchange website. good luck
1575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A question to all ICO investors. on: February 25, 2019, 06:47:18 PM
You may not consider a single source to determine the right ICO you want to invest in. all the social media you have listed have their limitations in term of the type and numbers of informations you can find from them. Some, you can have similar information but the most inportant thing is that you use all of them to make the right decision. for me I literarily check youtube channels. facebook, twitter and ICO listing sites are the major place I do check for the right ICO to invest. Etherscan ads also is good to find ICO as well.
1576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to ICO if....... on: February 25, 2019, 06:42:44 PM
I do not think the ICO will go extinct but all things boil down to how much money the ICO intend to raise. Despite the huge fall in the numbers of investors since last year, some ICO that require moderately low hard cap almost or nearly receive the amount of contribution needed not to talk of many other project that were sold out during private sales. ICO that require large amount of money for project will find it difficult to raise such money
1577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make Bitcoin more approachable to common users on: February 25, 2019, 06:34:11 PM
some people are homophobic and believe little about anything that involve online currency. In my country, having a mobile wallet containing bitcoin might get you in trouble if police see it because they may tag as online fraudster not to talk about acceptance locally. this is because of the ill information many people have about crypto. crypto still a long way to go for further adoption globally. millions of people globally still not have access to internet not to talk about making crypto more accepted by common people in the society.
1578  Economy / Speculation / Re: A chance for Bitcoin to rise! on: February 25, 2019, 06:25:09 PM
Most of us that trade find ourself in the same situation. I trade and sometime I do gambling but I have recently channel my investment into trading alone. What I have realized about the cryptocurrency is that you need to be very strong and always learn from your past mistakes. Especially when you are trading because that is the only way you can improve on your success rate. Thinking about your lost will not bring back the money but depression which might make your health deteriorate so my advice for you is that let the past be and focus on the future. Alot of us believe in crypto and that is the reason we are still here today
1579  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scammers now in telegram on: February 25, 2019, 06:05:14 PM
It is not new. Telegram has been the den of scammer for long time. but in as much as you are not gullible, you will never get scam. Many ICO groups are full of scammers. Some will even pretend to be Admin to the group by bearing the same name and profile picture as the original admin just to scam people. clicking on links that is pm to you is very dangerous. especially by the people you do not know. most of time, when I receive such message, I will delete it and mark the sender as spammers. That is the only way to prevent from being scammed
1580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your general sentiment on soft-caps for ICO's? on: February 25, 2019, 08:01:36 AM
To me, it is needed because it creates a form of confidence and transparency in a project. A well-structured project should have the minimum amount of contribution needed for project startup. Softcap give an indication of what likely to expect from project by investors during the stage. It is not new that many investors already know that if a project do not make the softcap, it is likely for such a project to be discontinued and probably return back contributors money. many ico that do not have softcap are majorly already existing project that wants to introduce a product or services to already existing ones
