It is not everything that can be done from home and not everyone has the technology to keep working from home and this is part of the reason why rate of unemployment is getting high. School might be shifting back to online for some courses while some that involve practical knowledge are being postponed a lot of individual that run offline business to feed their family and friends are at the crossroad
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: New projects team failed to listen to advice about bad exchanges on: July 16, 2020, 03:46:52 PM
Reason why they don't listen is because they think they have resourceful team who could make findings and give them the best advice. They rely on their team on advice but don't seek for contributions from communities. Many of them rely most time on exchange ranking on CMC and they stick with one that rank high and they can get easily listed. This is part of the reason why Latoken is their hub. For project to be successful, you have to listen to your community as well. Some members have experience than the founders of some project.
603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OneCoin scam promoters found dead! on: July 16, 2020, 03:40:22 PM
They were most like hunted and killed due to the money. In as much as it is very bad to scam people of their belonging, killing is not a way forward. Also, part of the reason not to involve in illegal business especially on the internet because you only know yourself but you have no idea what people you scammed are capable of doing. Scam is not a good thing and shouldn't be a means of survival. A lot of people dies just because they are being scammed and could feed themselves
604  Other / Off-topic / Re: Twitter hackers are So low IQ. - Many Twitter Account Hacked on: July 16, 2020, 08:36:05 AM
its up to you if you will be affected with it or not but in my case i wont . i heard they only ask for donations and dont scam crypto coins at all so no impact on the price but i feel sorry for someone that got victimed because of this hackings .  hackers aim are not to short the price and why would they do that , its not thier job and not on the plan but its the whales are the one that short the price . hackers only want easy money without thinking if thier plan looks legit or not
It generate hoax which can have both positive and negative effect on the price. The methods those hackers used has been a known means of scam which has been reported so many time here on BTT but such being posted on the official top ranks individuals makes it somehow I real. I almost fell for the scam but immediately I saw the script used I had known is a scam
605  Other / Off-topic / Re: Twitter hackers are So low IQ. - Many Twitter Account Hacked on: July 16, 2020, 08:28:22 AM
What I think at the moment is the vulnerability of Twitter. I am also concerned that day by day we work hard to make Bitcoin a reliable currency and that the bad actors in this case hackers, they have mocked our face.

I have seen all the commotion that the attack caused on Twitter and there will surely be consequences where credibility will be tested. Bitcoin's insecurity and usability may or may not reign. Hopefully not.
We all know that fiat also have pros and cons in term of usage but using cryptocurrency in such scenario as a way of scamming people will bring more strict regulations especially when the probability of getting the peoples money back is not certain. I wish those hackers are caught and pay heavily for their crime.
606  Economy / Economics / Re: The Decentralized Economy During COVID-19 on: July 14, 2020, 07:57:36 PM
De-Fi has been subject of discussion not only here on BTT but also on crypto blog but I'm yet to understand the usage and hopefully if it will address many problem that will pave way for more adoption. I  believe reason why it is not getting hyped is due to growing lost of interest in investing in crypto. I also don't see the correlation between the pandemic and how it can help De-Fi
607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Are Ads on Coinmarketcap Legitimate? on: July 14, 2020, 04:35:54 PM
I don't know if coinmarketcap has adsense, let's say they have, the ads that pop up are not controlled by them. Recently, I am seeing CZ tweeted about fake ads about binance displayed on youtube which is alarming, someone could be fool by that, So basically any ads now are not trusted even google, youtube has fake ads, I guess google only care for the money they don't verify first they are waiting for reports.
They run both AdSense and makes their own Ads as well. This is part of where the money for running the platform comes from. Aside the ads that comes from the AdSense, some other ads are from businesses such as gambling and so on. I don't think the newly acquired cmc will not research a project before advertising for them on the platform. If you check regularly you will see they have also stops some ads when it was acquired
608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the police do if they seize bitcoin from criminals? on: July 14, 2020, 03:40:56 PM
It depend on the country because each have rules and regulations regarding seized goods and assets including money. In UK, the seized assets are reinvest back to policing and some other parts are used for other community projects. You can read about that here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-32827790 and also https://www.coindesk.com/police-force-confiscates-295-bitcoins-from-criminal-in-uk-first
609  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tell me a reason why I should use online wallet. on: July 14, 2020, 03:34:01 PM
It depends on your level of understanding of the different type of wallets. Generally I use to advice newbie that are yet to fully understand how crypto wallet works to use web based online wallet. This is because in case they forget their login details, they can easily recover it back but when they are making use of DEX wallets, they may lose their coin if they don't know the seed phrase. Just like your friend have said, it is easy to use and you can get support when something goes wrong with your wallet
610  Economy / Economics / Re: Government+cryptocurrencies on: July 14, 2020, 12:09:24 PM
I am fully in support of government giving crypto total support especially in some third world countries but I've come to realized until they beginning to understand why the current financial sectors being used can be enacted by using block chain technology, they will continue to duel in cons of the technology. With  greater adoption of bitcoin by many banks in Europe, I strongly believe it is a matter of time before we start seen the central banks deploying block chain technology in banking
611  Economy / Economics / Re: Proposed Bill Would Give Americans $2,000 A Month Until Economy Recovers on: July 14, 2020, 12:02:09 PM
Considering the numbers of people soliciting for money on gofundme in recent time to feed their family, I do not see anything wrong with it and I'm very sure the united state is abreast and capable of handling the cons of printing fiat to mitigate the effect of this global pandemic. If this go through, it could be another crypto rally as it has been noticed before that a lot of Americans use their stimulus package to buy crypto specifically on coinbase
612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance upcoming delisting on: July 13, 2020, 06:11:22 PM
I can't find the source for that delisting, do you have a source for that news because I can't find it on their blog and no news yet about the delisting.
I haven't received an email too about this news you have shared.
It is not every time they send message about delisted coin to traders mail. Sometimes they make the announcement on social media and also post it on the announcement blog on the website. Here is the link to the new https://twitter.com/binance/status/1282661416789516295?s=20 it is not strange binance normally delist coin that are not getting trading volume for awhile in order to make sure the platform is free of dead project
613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency mixing services do more harm than good to blockchain technology on: July 13, 2020, 11:50:32 AM
Mixers are not 100% guaranteed that will hide your privacy after all its still a theoretical technology. It's not really proven to bring privacy to an transaction once if you use the service.
I still think that mixers in some scenario's are necessary to avoid tracking from third parties such as government trying to cease your Crypto assets. I guess this all depend on how you use the technology.
Thanks. A lot have been discussed about this subject and this has makes me realize no matter how good a technology is people will also look for the negative part of it and used it. Just as we can't separate people that use bitcoin for legitimate business from those that use it for evil so also it is applied to crypto mixing platform. However, we all want more adoption of crypto but this negative use cases remain the obstacle we should all fight off
614  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest winner during COVID? on: July 13, 2020, 11:42:18 AM
I don't think it is man made even though China have been called so many times for carelessly releasing the virus. Every sectors is affected and could not agree less to individuals buying company stakes at lower price because they are the heroes presently. Media sectors especially those privately owned also benefited from the pandemic. I could recall when there were shortage of ventilators globally and private company are improvising to supply demanding countries
615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Bitcoin Must Be Inherited on: July 13, 2020, 11:19:17 AM
Inheritance features such as ability to claim traders asset in case he's dead will be OK but this can only be possible on centralized exchange that a lot people give thumb down over DEX. By the I'm curious to know the percentage of bitcoin holders that will store huge amount of bitcoin in an exchange rather than hardware and dex wallet. I'm of opinion that people should consider bitcoin like an asset and properties and also include it when preparing will with detail info on how to access it in case of death
616  Local / India / Re: Cashaa hacked. 336 BTC Stolen. on: July 13, 2020, 10:49:32 AM
My question is, are they fully oriented on how to use Bitcoin or cryptocurrency?

That is a huge amount that something you trust web wallet and you know that you didn't own the private key of your wallet. Sounds strange for me, how this comes up like this.

I checked that transaction of scammed address, it seems like 336 bitcoin has been divided into small amounts within different addresses, the last 85 amount of Bitcoin landed on this transaction address. It seems like the hacker didn't cashout yet Bitcoin into fiat.
The problem with such exchange is that they don't wanna spend money on security. Any exchange platform should provide up to date security and also carry out security auditing at least ones in a month. If big exchange with robust securities are getting hacked, I don't know what the smaller one expect. If the bitcoin have been divided into small fractions. It is likely the hacker will get it mixed and it will remain untraceable after that
617  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptcarbon.com is it legit? or am I being scammed? on: July 12, 2020, 05:06:05 PM
Hopefully some of you experts might be able to help me.
Somebody has paid me for a domain name which I own (haven't transferred yet). They said they could only pay me in bitcoin on cryptcarbon.com
The payment is there but is the site genuine?
When I try to make a withdrawal to a Kraken wallet it says I have to send 0.02 bitcoin from the Kraken wallet to verify my address with them before I can make a withdrawal.

Is this a con or are they genuinely just wanting to verify the wallet address?
Please help, many thanks.
Jon

That highlighted words should tell you that the site is a scam. No legit site will ask you to send a certain amount of bitcoin in order to verify your address. If they want to verify your account, they would have ask for document for KYC. If you go ahead and transfer the money, you will not access to the fund again and even stand other risk. by the way the website was registered less than 120 days and it has no trustscore. I am also worried why such a business will have site with a year validity
618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is ICObench dead? on: July 12, 2020, 02:12:58 PM
The site was lastly updated last month. They are probably could not run the platform any more. Many of those ICO listing site come from the project they are posting. I also worked for a top ICO listing platform so I understand this very well. Unless they run ads, it is very hard to manage this days since people are not much interested in investing in ICO.
619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Information about mobile wallet pls on: July 12, 2020, 01:03:00 PM
For a newbie, I will suggest a centralized exchange such as coinbase for you. Reason is because if you can't remember your details, you can easily click on forget password to retrieve your password and have access to your coins. However, it is limited to bitcoin, ethereum and one other coin but in case you are someone with a strong retentive memory then you can go for trust wallet. The mobile version is available. It will allow you to send and receive almost all types of coin
620  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading using someone else's funds on: July 11, 2020, 06:29:53 PM
It is just like an investor giving you money to run a business. You need to calculate the percentage of the loaner in the total amount you intend to trade with. Your profit will be the capital plus interest. Meaning you will need to subtract the capital from your profit so that you have the interest which you will share base on the percentage the loaner contributed to the total cost. The same goes when you are running at lost and if the loaner decide to part way, you will the percentage contributed.
