1562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where can i see all those old 4chan bitcoin threads! on: April 05, 2015, 12:39:46 PM
You can check 4chan archive. Everyone seems to be against Bitcoin these days in 4chan tho, all these idiots in /biz/ think they've got a clue on whats going on.
1563  Economy / Speculation / Re: I need to retire already on: April 03, 2015, 09:54:11 PM
OK guys and gals, I've 80 bitcoins (did have 410, but sold most to buy a house last September. Bad timing or what!)
Anyhoo, I'm sick of work and figure if bitcoins get to $15,000 I can retire.
When do you reckon that will happen?

80 Bitcoins

Now $450
You want $15k to retire

That's $1.2M profit on your current $36k (to put it into perspective 3333% gain needed)

And you are sick because you have waited a full year and already managed to buy a house (partially) using BTC.

LOL!!!!  Roll Eyes

I would be prepared to wait 5 years for 1M. Greed is a killer Smiley

In 5 to 10 years OP will be a millonaire, but chances are he will panic along the way and sell way before that day arrives. Sadly people aren't wired to hold long term.
1564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Pacquiao boxing gloves have Bitcoin Logo? on: April 03, 2015, 09:44:40 PM
To be honest, I thought few days ago how awesome promotion would be to have bitcoin logo on shirts of one of better football teams e.g. in England or Spain. Yeah, it would be expensive but if few bitcoin-millionaires would team up I don't think this would be a real problem...
It would be indeed cool, but I don't think it's affordable unless you get legitimate whales teaming up big time. These guys have no problems finding sponsors.
1565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is slowly warming g upto the Wall Street on: April 03, 2015, 09:41:13 PM
A lot of Wall Street guys are tech geeks too, and some if not under an institution representing it, but privately are buying already and holding them for the future, no one wants to miss a ticket into the future.
1566  Economy / Economics / Re: How many bitcoins do governments and central banks own? on: April 03, 2015, 09:38:11 PM
No one can know that unless they talk it out.
Yeah I think its impossible to know, unless they make the mistake of making an address public that is linked to something gov related then we could keep track of it on the blockchain lol.
1567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I can no longer see "incoming transaction" notification (Bitcoin-QT) on: April 03, 2015, 09:35:52 PM
If I understand correctly what you were saying, the "incoming transaction" notification shows up when a transaction is broadcasted on the network (and is waiting confirmation).

Because it's been some time you didn't sync that wallet, the first time it knows about those old transactions is when the block is updated but it's all there already.
After that client is fully in sync, check if notifications come up again when you get a new payment.
But I usually never leave it opened, like I said I open it once in a month or so, and it always showed the notifications even if they are old. Some are recent tho, like 2 days ago but didn't show up. I'll see what happens next time.
1568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / I can no longer see "incoming transaction" notification (Bitcoin-QT) on: April 03, 2015, 08:39:03 PM
I opened my wallet after a while to sync it and see if everything is in order. Usually I check transactions on the blockchain.info site and from time to time I sync the wallet locally. Anyway, I was expecting to see a lot of nice "incoming transaction" notifications but I didn't see a single one. I also noticed how this time I didn't see any BTC amounts in "unconfirmed", I just got paid directly and it added into my balance.
The transactions arrived just fine, but I didn't get the notifications on the taskbar... I haven't modified anything on the options. Last time I think I still had the previous version to 0.10.0, so I just updated it.

I have 0.10.0 on my other machine and the incoming transaction notification shows up, and im using the same OS.

How can I make it appear again? It felt good seeing the nofications coming in, without them getting paid is not as exciting Grin

In case its not clear what im talking about it's this:

1569  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greece to adopt Bitcoin as currency on: April 02, 2015, 02:36:26 PM
Maybe this was a test field? With this varoufakis is getting reactions and seeing what would happen if he actually said that, im pretty sure he is paying attetion to what is being said even if its a joke.
1570  Economy / Speculation / Re: When? on: April 02, 2015, 02:34:25 PM
And then you have the anal retentive bungholes that just come back with capitalism. Well shithead, capitalism is what really ruined the US.

 Roll Eyes

How can such a country with all it's power, technology and resources be kicking families out of their homes because the banks were highly un-regulated and given bad loans?

The banks were forced by the government to give loans to those who did not really qualify.  But if you want to blame the banks, feel free.  The owners of the banks will appreciate that I'm sure.  You know those owners, right?  They are the working class families you claim to want to protect.  They hold ownership of these banks through shares in pension funds.

The banks are always trying to sell you shit, they literally have a schelude that they need to meet and sell shit to people, even if who is there is some granny that has no idea whats going on, a sign is all that matters. Banks are NOT your friends! ffs when will people learn.
1571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is "Variety Jones"? on: April 02, 2015, 02:27:16 PM
Variety is a Girls name.

Didn't realize that, I've never met anyone boy or girl named Variety.
Because it isn't a name for a person, or even a dog or any pet. Only stoner parents trying to be original would name their newborn "Variety".
1572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A basic question on: April 02, 2015, 02:24:50 PM
There's no way around SHA-256 unless we invent quantum computers powerful enough to bruteforce the passes period. The rest is paranoia and FUD.
1573  Economy / Speculation / Re: Future looking bright. Going back up. on: April 01, 2015, 03:25:59 PM
Now that we've hit the 2 month low. The price will rally back up to 245!

Happy April fools day!
Im making a big ass folder with posts of FUDsters to make fun of them in 10 years when im retired in a big ass McMansion.
1574  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greece to adopt Bitcoin as currency on: April 01, 2015, 02:59:43 PM
I realise now that Zerohedge is an American website, so it is before midday there, thus this is probably an April fools joke.
It's quite dry for an April fools though, but I guess that is more likely than that they are actually considering adopting bitcoin.

Sorry.
Already saw this posted, nice joke, I wish it was true but Varoufakis will not take that risk, that takes more balls that they can afford unfortunately.
1575  Economy / Economics / Re: "It just takes forever to take bitcoin at our register." on: April 01, 2015, 02:53:22 PM
How does it take forever? All it takes is scanning a QR code and sending the payment, it's instantaneous since you don't need to wait for the confirmation to get your stuff just as you don't wait for credit card operations being confirmed by banks, you just assume it will be ok and it goes ok.

I am all for bitcoin but the credit cards seem more trust worthy to business because there is a company behind the card that will insure that the party that is in the right will receive there money.
Well services like bit2me give you money instantaneously without confirmation wait and if something goes wrong they will do something about it.
And again never seen a problem with confirmations unless you are dumb enough to give no fee.
1576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin reveals Satoshi's been secretly working on BTC 2.0 on: April 01, 2015, 02:40:41 PM
Sorry if this is a re-post.

The guys at CryptoNews just posted an exclusive interview with Gavin. Here are the parts of the interview that I found interesting. You'll see why:

snip

Quote
Tim: First, I would like to thank you Gavin for accepting this interview on such short notice...

Tim: I know this has been asked many times, but... Are you Satoshi Nakamoto?

Gavin: Am I Satoshi?... No...

Gavin: If I were Satoshi, I wouldn't be here talking to you, I'd be in Bahamas sipping Piña Coladas...

Tim: I had to ask...

snip

Quote
Tim: When was the last time you were in contact with Satoshi?

Gavin: As a matter of fact, we were chatting this morning.

Tim: Is he back working at the Foundation?

Gavin: Well, not in the flesh but, he has been actively working on (Bitcoin) 2.0 since January and wanted an account in our private Git server to begin checking-in his code changes.

Tim: This is breaking news for us. Could you please elaborate more about Satoshi's new ideas for Bitcoin 2.0?

Gavin: I won't elaborate on his entire project but, basically he wants to move Bitcoin to a different Hashcash Proof-of-Work algorithm in order to slow down the current trend where the mining power is rapidly getting concentrated in a handful of players. When Satoshi launched Bitcoin back in 2009, he didn't envision SHA-256 getting so effectively implemented in Hardware and that the network could end up being controlled by small groups of people with warehouses full of mining rigs. He believes it is dangerous for the future of Bitcoin, that it could end up destroying his legacy so, he wants to make the changes now in order to go back to the old days where individual miners were the backbone of the Bitcoin network.

Tim: And which algorithm does he want to use in 2.0?

Gavin: After he tested several candidates, he settled with a new one called KSHAKE that is used by a new altcoin called KryptoHash.

Tim: I never heard of KryptoHash. Is this one of the hundreds of coins you can find in the forum at Bitcointalk? Does Satoshi read that forum at all?

Gavin: He surely does. He's always sending me links of new altcoins that have new interesting features. He has even mined few altcoins and posted opinions on forums using his other accounts.

Tim: How about you? Do you read the altcoin forum? Do you post in there?

Gavin: I used to frequent, not much anymore. Unlike him (Satoshi), I don't have the patience to sort through the noise. There are few altcoins with true innovations out there but, with so many new altcoins getting released every week, it is now impossible to find the good ones.

Oh Man!, I was so proud when I read Satoshi will be adding some of my work into BTC 2.0   Grin

And the follow up discussion: http://tinyurl.com/o2nqbze

Nice try OP, but you could have bothered to use something else than tinyurl, it makes it too obvious and I didn't fall for it as soon as I saw the URL lol.
1577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's time for Plan B. #Bitcoin on: April 01, 2015, 02:39:18 PM
That's the last thing bitcoin needs.
How? He is huge in social media, is following is something that other Bitcoin personalities like Andreas Antonopolous can't aim at. This guy can put BTC out there like no other with a single tweet so its welcome.
1578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Greece Ready to Use Bitcoin If No Deal on: April 01, 2015, 02:37:30 PM
Sources very closed to Greece’s minister of finance told Greek Reporter that today Yanis Varoufakis held a top secret meeting with high-ranking finance ministry officials to prepare them in case negotiations at the upcoming Eurogroup fail. The anonymous source noted that everybody in the room was staring at each other when Varoufakis – also a prominent blogger – said “We ‘ll go to Bitcoin, we will be ahead of all the world economies and although it may be painful in the beginning, Greece’s economy will thrive in the long term.”
Boom
LOL April fools obviously Yanis Varoufakis and their team don't have the balls to be the Bitcoin pioneers of the world, unfortunately.
1579  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is DEA Agent Force Responsible For MtGox Collapse? on: March 31, 2015, 05:50:51 PM
The whole saga, in fact everything to do with Bitcoin, is so goddamn far out that nothing would surprise me.

Judging by the way Mr Karpeles has communicated on occasion, it seems there's a lot more he'd like to share but is somehow forced not to. I think plenty of minds will be blown before Gox is ever put to bed.
The whole thing would make for a fascinating movie. So much drama in the way things are developing that could make for a great story, going deeper than the rise and rise of Bitcoin. Even an action-drama type of movie would do, not necessary a documentary format.
1580  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: March 31, 2015, 05:44:42 PM
Let's cut the crap. Most of us are just waiting for Bitcoin to finally hit $100 to buy a huge quantity. Am I right or talking out my ass?

Most of us here are buying and selling. There is no need to wait for 100 as there has been big enough swings to keep making large profits.
But every time you sell you take an huge risk since at this point the next rally to Mt Moon could happen when least expected.
