India could have easily reached 340 or 350 if the bowlers batted well towards the end though 330 is still a respectable score. Am expecting India to win this decider and the ODI series as long as their bowlers don't mess up.

England are over-dependent on their top order. If they get out early, I guess it's game-over for England. Excited for the 2nd innings.

Even a total close to 400 was possible. I am not joking. When Rishabh Pant got out, they were 256/5 after 36 overs. And in the previous match, India had scored 127 runs from the last 10 overs. Before Pant got out (followed by Hardik), I was thinking that a total of ~400 may be possible. But once these two got out, the batsmen who came to replace them (Shardul and Krunal) couldn't keep the momentum going.

Anyway, they have an excellent opportunity here. Jason Roy is back in pavilion after the 1st over.
1562  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-03-15] [Reuters] India to propose cryptocurrency ban, penalising miners on: March 28, 2021, 12:24:15 PM
That wouldn't be the case if they bought a bit earlier when BTC was cheaper. The Indian local board on this forum was created many years ago and it wouldn't have been created if there was 0 interest.

It would be wrong to say that there was zero interest before 2017. My friend (who introduced me to cryptocurrency) got his first coins in 2012. However, back then there were no India-based cryptocurrency exchanges and almost 100% of the trade was done through Localbitcoins and other P2P platforms. Creating an account in international exchanges such as BTC-e, MtGox and Bitstamp was also a bit hard for Indians during that period.
1563  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 effect on your country's economy!!! on: March 28, 2021, 12:13:53 PM
Our Government is a joker, we have season 2 now of lockdown. A lot of their promises has been broken, they said it'll be all over once they get the vaccine but the number of COVID-19 cases surges even more after receiving the Sinovac vaccine (was it even effective?) I guess not, maybe it has the other way around effect on people but the Government doesn't want to expose it out, who knows *shoulder shrugged*

I just don't know how we're going to defeat this pandemic if our Government doesn't know anything how to fight it except on implementing a lockdown, like come on, that's not even a way to defeat COVID-19.

I don't think that there is any issue with the Sinovac vaccine. The point to remember here is that Sinovac vaccine provides immunity only after a certain period from the administration of the second dose (4 weeks?). I don't think that any of the countries that are using Sinovac has moved in to the second dose administration. So you may need to wait for a couple of months, to notice the first impact from vaccination. And don't expect anything drastic at least until the end of this year.
1564  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Joining OPEN] [IPL 2021] Prediction pool and discussion on: March 28, 2021, 12:01:06 PM
I guess most of the Indian users are engaged in the India vs England series. There is hardly any hype about the upcoming IPL, either in social media platforms, or in the mainstream media. The India-England series gets over today, and hopefully we will be having more participants after that. If I remember correctly, we had more than two dozen participants for the IPL 2020 pool, and almost 40% of the participants managed to get hold of some reward.
1565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 26, 2021, 07:36:37 AM

The match between Spain and Greece is very interesting. I mean Greece is very lucky. Ball possession Spain 80% and Greece is only 20%. It seems kinda funny to me.  Grin

Earlier I wrote that the coefficient on Greece was unjustifiably high... To me, it's a good team, which was European champion not so long ago! So I was not sure that Spain would easily beat them...

As of now, Spain is perhaps the top team in the UEFA region. Holding them to a draw is a very good result for Greece. But there was a lot of controversy during the match, especially related to the penalty kick that was given to Greece. Inigo Martinez tried to tackle Giorgos Masouras, and spot kick was given to Greece. VAR was not used for the match. If it was used, then it could have gone either way. Anyway, all the best for Spain, for their match against Georgia on Sunday!
1566  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 26, 2021, 06:46:54 AM
^^^ Shreyas Iyer is neither a very senior member of the team nor he is one of Kohli's favorites. So there is no guaranteed slot for him in the playing XI. If he is fit enough to play in the IPL, then he need to do that. It can have a huge financial impact on him as well. His contract with the Delhi Capitals is worth $980,000 per year and if he is unable to play then he need to forfeit all this amount (which I really doubt he can afford).

Yes, you are right he does not fall under the good books of Kohli but does that matter he still got selected for the national team. He will not be playing this series because of his injury. It is a serious injury and as per the news on ESPNcricinfo, he will be missing IPL 2021. This means he will have to forego the amount that he was earning from IPL. But as he is part of the BCCI C team he still will get paid this year a good amount. Till last year he was getting paid INR 1CR annually which is 10 million USD. You can find out pay details here

LOL..  it is not 10 million USD, but 10 million INR, which translates to $133,333. This is roughly one-eighth of what he receive for playing in the IPL for less than two months. Also, the peak period for a cricketer lasts only for 4-5 years and he need to earn as much as possible during this period. If he misses the entire season of the IPL, then it will be a big financial blow for him. Hopefully he'll be declared fit within the next few weeks.
1567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your Life After 10 years in Bitcoin... on: March 26, 2021, 06:33:10 AM
Bitcoin may be 12 years old.. but my association with Bitcoin dates back to 2017 (which is relatively recent). But in my case, Bitcoin changed my life in less than one year. When I purchased my first coins, the BTC exchange rate was $900 per coin. 12 months later, it stood at $20,000 per coin. Earnings from Bitcoin has enabled me to progress from lower middle class to upper middle class in society. I have helped some of my relatives as well, and many of them were in really bad financial state before that. In short, Bitcoin has not only changed my life, but also the life of many of my friends and relatives.

This is good for the Morgan and England team. Morgan is an extraordinary player. He is experienced enough. But, it will take some time to adapt to the weather and the environment and the pitch in India. If he becomes the captain of KKR, he will be able to easily adapt to this environment before the World Cup .

Morgan is a classy player, but he is going through a lean patch now. I hope he will be able to perform well during IPL 2021, for his team (Kolkata Knight Riders). He will be captaining players such as Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan, Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson and Shubman Gill, which can be quite challenging. But he needs to be 100% fit and I have doubt regarding that after hearing the news about the hand injury.
1569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 26, 2021, 06:12:56 AM
-Holder fifer and Roach seam bowling in the 1st inning. Lahiru Thirimanne's hard fought 70 odds runs contribution in SL's 1st inning total of 169 runs.
-Team batting second gets important 100+ runs lead.
-Sri Lanka fights back and puts 400+ runs on the scoreboard.
-Last day and new guy steps up, scores 100 on his 3rd test match and saves the game for the Windies.

Both team fought hard and tried their best. If it was Ashes match, everyone would have gone gaga over this already.

It was a match between two of the smaller teams and there wasn't much interest outside West Indies and Sri Lanka. One reason may be the ongoing series between India and England. Also, the timing of the matches in West Indies is not suitable for the fans in India. This was one of the reasons why they shifted the CPL matches to late night. And that resulted in increased revenues for the WICB in the form of viewership from India.

International calendar is getting crowded now. SL vs WI, IND vs ENG and NZ vs BAN going on at the same time.
1570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 26, 2021, 05:16:39 AM
Not only did Spain disappoint me, but France also disappointed me. France did not win the match despite having three world best strikers. How can they win against a big team if they can't manage to win against a small team like Ukraine? It seems to me that the bonding of the players with each other is not good. They can't adapt to each other. Like France, Giroud is a player in the EPL, Mbappe is a player in Ligue 1 and Griezmann plays in the Spanish league. Each league has a slightly different style of play. So maybe the players are not able to adapt to themselves.

Ukraine is not a minnow team. They have qualified for World Cup before and previously they had star players such as Andriy Shevchenko. Even the current team have some very good players such as Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevhen Konoplyanka. But France completely dominated the game. They had 18 goal attempts, compared to just 4 for Ukraine. Also France had 62% possession.

Now coming to the Spain vs Greece match, the former could have won it, if not for the controversial decision from the referee to award penalty kick to Greece.
1571  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 26, 2021, 05:01:42 AM
This is a completely one-sided game, there is nothing left to watch. Bangladesh has already lost 8 wickets and they cannot even reach 200. Newzealand is a far better team than Bangladesh, there is no point in comparing them. 2 more ODI left and I am sure NZ will win this series.

Bangladesh batsmen doesn't have the ability to handle the raw pace and bounce of the New Zealand fast bowlers. Even when Pakistan was touring New Zealand a few months back, their batsmen also faced the same issue. Now there is no quick fix solution for this, as this issue exists for all the South Asian teams (although India has made a lot of progress on this aspect recently, as seen from their recent success in Australia).
1572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 25, 2021, 07:16:43 PM
As you said, nobody can ignore the Netherlands when it comes to football. However, there are also facts in football. If you do surprise success than a team like Turkey, everything is different.

Yesterday there was a Turkey team who dominated the evening match and they deserved to win.

Turkey had the home advantage and with all the COVID 19 restrictions and bio-secure bubble requirements, the visitors can have a tough time to adjust. And anyone who watched yesterday's match would agree with the fact that Turkey played really well. Statistics would tell you another story, as Netherlands had 65% possession. But the simple fact is that Turkey was the better team out of the two yesterday.

BTW, today we have some exciting matches. Does anyone think that Iceland will be able to upset Germany? Also Italy will be facing Northern Ireland. Both Iceland and Northern Ireland are famous for defeating stronger opponents.
1573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins to invest in right now on: March 25, 2021, 06:27:41 PM
Right now i just invested in two coins Arpa and BTC, BTC is the best coin for long term and ARPA is just for short term. Today i'm very confuse because of the market keep bleeding and i think im gonna sell my investment very soon.

Panic selling is the worst thing to do in case you are a cryptocurrency investor. As we all know, the correction was caused due to a combination of several factors. Expiry of Bitcoin option contracts is one of them. Another factor is that the financial year is coming to an end, and this is causing a lot of people to liquidate their holdings to decrease the applicable capital gains tax or income tax. Prices should recover in a matter of 2-3 weeks max.
1574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Too many coin in circulation on: March 25, 2021, 06:14:18 PM
There are too many different coins in circulation. And that is the reason why the vast majority of them are now dead or dormant. You can check the daily trade volumes given in Coinmarketcap. Out of the 10,000 or so coins/tokens, only around 4% to 5% have any significant trade volume. Others are essentially dead and those who invested in them have lost their capital. And even for these coins, there is no guarantee that they will survive in to the distant future.
1575  Economy / Economics / Re: Food Prices Are Soaring Faster Than Inflation and Incomes on: March 25, 2021, 06:00:55 PM
this is not all about the pandemic, companies raising costs, etc. but if you ask me this is mostly about showing how fiat money is being evaluated slowly but surely. don't forget that governments all around the world have been printing money like maniacs during the pandemic and over the past 2 years. that has to show itself somewhere.

Commodity prices are rising, albeit slowly. Oil prices have increased from $40 per barrel to more than $60 per barrel (and that happened after the crash in April-May 2020). The impact of inflation is slowly being visible, and I won't be surprised if that causes the food prices to rise. But in my country so far I am not witnessing any large scale increase in food prices, other than the routine fluctuations.

The West Indies have no chance of winning. Maybe West Indies will lose, otherwise, the match will be a draw. I think the West Indies players want to draw the match. Because if they bat to win the match at such a huge target, they will lose wickets quickly and lose.

West Indies lost the second wicket now. Kraigg Brathwaite is gone. It is not possible to block the spinners for 90 overs. They will chip in with wickets every now and then and the team will be bowled out much before the end of day's play. Nkrumah Bonner has made a half century. Let's see for how long he manages to survive against the Sri Lankan spinners. Rahkeem Cornwall yet to come.
1577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First time scammed , very frustrated on: March 25, 2021, 01:57:43 PM
Sad to hear about what happened to OP. During the last 4 plus years, I was scammed multiple times. But eventually, we need to move on. For my part, I took these as valuable lessons in the field of cryptocurrency. There is not much we can do to get back the coins/tokens. These people wash the coins several times before cashing out through exchanges or P2P platforms. And you need a lot of time and resources to trace them.
1578  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 25, 2021, 12:56:20 PM
Yes, Group G is the most interesting and Norway, Turkey and Montenegro have 3 points each and the Netherlands are in 5th which I think the Dutch play is very complex and good against Turkey and but lost 4-2.
and statistically the Netherlands are also superior, especially in possession of the ball and I will see what changes in the next Dutch game and have to win it.

Statistically and as per the ranking from FIFA, Netherlands is far ahead of all the other teams in Group G. Their performance was pathetic yesterday, but that doesn't mean that they don't have any chance to top the group. 9 matches remain for Netherlands and they will face Turkey again on 7th September. It is too early to say that Netherlands is currently at the bottom of the points table. The situation is going to change.
1579  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like India is perhaps serious about banning cryptocurrency on: March 25, 2021, 12:46:19 PM
India is like other government that has their own rules and know how to handle their economy , the sad part here is that most of those who posts don't even come from india but acting as if they are affected of the issue  Grin

I am an Indian resident and many of the users who have commented here also come from India. We are worried since our livelihood is under threat. Almost one-third of my monthly income comes in the form of cryptocurrency and if that is taken away then I will be in a very bad financial state. And there are millions like me in India who earn passive income in the form of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. For us, this is no laughing matter. It is a matter of life and death.
1580  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden planning first tax hike(major) since 1993 on: March 25, 2021, 12:32:12 PM
The U.S. government DOES NOT need money, and IS NOT increasing taxes because it needs money. The Fed can always BRRRRR print trillions for the government, BUT once all that money does into circulation, INFLATION. What do they do to decrease the money in circulation? HIGH TAXES. - That’s Modern Monetary Theory.

If they increase the property taxes, estate tax, inheritance tax.etc, then it will have a bigger impact than increasing the income tax. Because income tax disproportionately affect the middle class, as the super-rich use various loopholes to avoid it. But the super-rich never cease purchasing luxury properties and private islands and the government should target these if they are being honest. Obviously they will never do that, else their main campaign donors will get angry.
