161  Other / Meta / Re: hacked account SIGN MESSAGE NVC (confirmed) Unlocked but banned !!! on: May 19, 2019, 12:36:32 PM
Up

Few thing I am not clear.
When you account was unlocked and returned, It was already banned or you did not removed the post created by hacker after you get unbanned?

I will suggest you to create a new thread about your problem because
1. This thread has served the intended purpose.
2. Somebody now need to read so many post to understand , that you can easily summarize in one post.
3. Put some fully explainable title like.
Account recovered in banned state,Mods please help.
or
Account banned now due to the activities by hacker, please unban
162  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: May 19, 2019, 12:11:06 PM
Do you guys have any idea when I create a list , then to whom my 250 merit vote goes to?

I have no idea if theymos shared the formula and I think if he has not shared yet then he should.

Next thing I like to propose in voting that instead of taking eligibility solely dependent on number of people trusting you, it should be dependent on number of people trusting you - number of people distrusting you.
163  Other / Meta / Re: Ban appeal [ Maksimov ] [ Full Member ] on: May 19, 2019, 09:16:24 AM

I have never done spam or plagiarism. On the forum since 2017, I always tried to write constructive and useful messages (Local (Russian)).

How much BTC you are willing to put in escrow for your above statement?

Please study my situation, I really do not understand why I was banned.

Reason is already told to you in the message.
164  Other / Meta / Re: Shouldn't Theymos act on Bounty Managers Now on: May 19, 2019, 09:09:14 AM
Maybe it's time the community to start controling those managers. I created this thread long ago but wasn't that success. List of Campaign Managers accepting shitposters. Report here >

Thanks for this link.  I re read my old comments. Still I guess we are not sure how we deal with somebody who will be running the bounty from outside of this forum.
Best way is to focus on the user that are spamming and encourage BM to contribute in SMAS list.
165  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] BitBlender Signature Campaign | Up to 0.0003BTC/Post | Member - Legendary on: May 19, 2019, 08:06:58 AM
I'm not a participant of this campaign but I'm watching this thread. Its just annoying for me that some of the user who are applying here doesn't read what the Campaign Manager says. It says "1 Member" rank only and yet there are many higher ranks who are applying. How can they accept you if you don't even know how to read Wink.

^^Actually you are the one who is not  reading.

Trying again.  Wink Willing to accept lower rank spots.

I'll take whatever position is open.

I am applying for the Member slot. Will change the signature ASAP after acceptance.

It is on the will of BM whether BM like to take a hero/senior/full member on member rates or will particularly look for Member rank.
166  Other / Meta / Re: Petition: disable "Banned from displaying..." signature and leave it blank on: May 19, 2019, 12:23:08 AM
The sig banned message is passing a loud message to who ever sees it. You commit plagiarism, you get punished so I don't support the idea of removing it.
I wasn't even aware of this until I read OP's post.  I have signatures blocked, so I don't see any of them and I figured that when members got a signature ban, their sig field would just be blank.  Interesting that Theymos decided to put a message there instead--and I agree with you, it does send a loud & clear message about plagiarism.  Obviously either don't read the rules or don't think they're going to get caught copy/pasting, so maybe this is exactly what we need.

Their sig field is blank only when they will post and on all of their previous post. This message is only displayed when you click to view profile. The message will be loud and clear when you make this ban message as their sig. message on all the post they posted till now.
167  Other / Off-topic / Re: We are all legends on: May 18, 2019, 06:37:54 PM
Unfortunately many people have no idea about this forum (though they know about bitcoin.).  No idea, if in future that school have bitcoin as curriculum then student might flock here.

Anyway did you forget to write about  Einstein
168  Other / Meta / Re: [Merging of threads and Name Change If possible] on: May 18, 2019, 05:26:02 PM

Also would it be possible for a name change from CheapYoutubeHits to CheapSocialHits To avoid confusion for users from bitcointalk,
I got a couple of positive reviews and cant bother making a new account for a name change,

Only feasible option for  you for the name change is to PM theymos if he agrees.
Another thing you can do is to create the Alt account with that name and put neutral feedback.

If you are filthy rich then you can shell out 50BTC and create a custom title for yourself.
169  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do We Really Want a More Decentralized Version of Facebook? on: May 18, 2019, 03:52:53 PM
I see so many replies here but no one is thinking on below lines.

When Facebook is centralized, we can see so many people abusing it so why do we need a decentralized version? People post death threats, abuses, spread false curfue rumors and some users have posted their suicide video on Facebook. They couldn't manage controlling these issues so I can just imagine what will happen when people have freedom of speech. Just because some famous people were banned, it doesn't sound logical and it's not even possible to have a decentralized social media website. Government will be first to ban it.

We need impartial media, not the decentralized one. Democracy/decentralization is dangerous thing if the "hands" participating in it overpower the "heads" that are supposed to make good decision.
170  Other / Meta / Re: Merit buy sell...😎 Merit fraud on: May 18, 2019, 02:50:34 PM

Wow! I think I should ask Lauda for adding one more point in his guide Newbies -Read before posting

If you are shitposting ,copying and breaking any rules then do not post in meta.
171  Other / Meta / Re: banned, what went wrong? on: May 18, 2019, 02:23:35 PM

I guess even the post is before 2016 or after 2016, people deserve the chance unless somebody is totally in capable of writing anything on its own words.  temp ban for 60 days + 1/2 year sig ban is very less as compared to permaban but it looks ok.

If someone caught again then can be permabanned.
172  Other / Meta / Re: [Appeal] 1-2years sig ban is too much for Good for the forum users on: May 18, 2019, 07:01:19 AM
I guess instead of proving to good for forum as overall, to qualify for sig ban, we can directly temp ban , sig ban and some merit penalty like 20 for each offence. If after deducting penalty if your merit balance falls beyond 0 , then your temp ban will be permaban.
(Might it help in reducing the appeal threads.)
173  Other / Meta / Re: Shouldn't Theymos act on Bounty Managers Now on: May 18, 2019, 06:46:35 AM
I guess bounty managers are only bound by moral and legal ethics. Nothing in forum rules specify anything for them.
Theymos never created any guidelines for them, so what you want from Theymos to check?

If in next wave , temp / perm /sig bans are started getting awarded to spammers, then these problem would be solved.

If you are relying on bounty manager then how you will tackle user who are not in any bounty and still spamming.

Theymos allows the users to earn from bounties but there is no endrosement for them. Actually making a list of bounty managers by Theymos will be implied as endrosement by Theymos.
174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone explain how exchanges operate? on: May 17, 2019, 03:36:07 PM
I am not understanding you point , make one and heavily guard it?  Why not make 10 and heavily guard it? To be precise what do you mean by "heavily guard" it? I guess security of cold wallet is due to its offline nature not due to "guarding" it.
Agreed. That does not make sense. Anyone have any ideas?

Look above:
Quote
Not really.
Mathematically it is secure. So nothing can be done here.
Regarding physical access etc.. If there would be 10 private keys.. they probably would be secured in the same way.. So with physical robbery (if they could steal the 1 private key to the cold wallet), they could steal all of their private keys.

It would just create additional effort without gaining much (if anything at all).

Got you. But human greed and social engineering do not follow mathematical models.
If you create one, it will have big sum and human greed will always like to take chance to get access on it.
But if you create 100 than the greed will be 100 time less and people will not like to risk their jobs/career for that small amount.

Somehow I believe in most of hacking it is always inside job.
175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paid for Copper Membership ( Private Message Delay ) ? on: May 17, 2019, 03:23:02 PM

The PM limit is going to be raised as you increase in rank. Your copper membership won't lift these limits.

You posted the correct links but you confused the OP with your above statement.

1. PM limits are governed by "Activity" not by "rank".
2. Copper Membership automatically whitelist the user, so OP should have  increased PM limits.

OP, if you are not getting the privilege that are mentioned here then you should PM theymos or can create topic in Meta about your issue.
176  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Binance Phishing Quiz - What you need to know to protect yourself from phishing on: May 17, 2019, 03:00:47 PM
When we do this kind of quiz we become extra suspicious and I took the most time in the quiz where 2 are legitimate options instead of phishing.  A good quiz to make a newbie aware.
177  Other / Meta / Re: Custom trust list is a meme on: May 17, 2019, 02:47:53 PM
I don’t think this is a good solution. It will have many of the same pitfalls as the current trust system has.

+1 , picking someone randomly from that list or all is not at all good solution. Then I guess user should use default trust in these case.

How realistic is it for us to ask someone who spends just a couple hours here every week browsing through the marketplace to create a fully customized trust list?

There must be another, better solution

Its called use another forum/ subreddit. If you don't like it. no one is forcing you to stay here

OP is asking for better solution and showed no intention of leaving this forum.
178  Other / Meta / Re: A round of applause for @theymos, global moderators, and forum staffs on: May 17, 2019, 02:39:27 PM
In this whole applause round somebody really forget to give the credit to the reporters on this forum. They are one who provided the mods with all necessary evidence to ban these accounts.
179  Other / Meta / Re: [UNBAN APPEAL] markiz73 on: May 17, 2019, 02:31:58 PM
Try to push this case with support of your local mods Xandry and Xal0lex. They can vouch for him.

Xandry already merited (which means "support" i think) this topic.  Also, 3 DT1 members TheFuzzStone, Alex_Sr, taikuri13 which all trusted members in russian and english boards, supports unban. Does it not enough?

Are these 3 DT members are in Theymos trust list? I think theymos is trusting the moderators more than anyone else in this forum.
Xandry meriting it and not writing anything does not clear the picture at all. I am not sure whether Xandry merited it for your effort or whether Xandry agree. (In real sense, Merit does not means I agree, Instead it means I appreciate your logic or reasoning.)

PM Xandry, a personal vouch by him to theymos/Hilariousandco will definitely make things smooth.
180  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary Ban shasan (unban Appeal) on: May 17, 2019, 02:18:54 PM
1. Come on. You're already getting a reduced sentence.
2. Yes.

Ohh! Suchmoon!

You can do the the honor of revealing that post and end the suspense for the OP.

Ironically, most user plagiarized the content of the OP lending thread, Is there possibility if reporting is done inaccurately?
