1601  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is buying merit parmited on: May 12, 2023, 03:42:12 AM
Honestly am new here and with my little time that i have spent in this forum i have observed, and i wanna ask the forum mate if that is posible because i saw it happening amonge the forum mate and the person that invade this platform for me,people in this forum who are connected in one way or the other are trading on their sendable merit not only the their sndable merit but orher way of trading on merit is going on in this forum,so my question is,is it good and permitted to do such on the forum,
I think it's very wrong to buy merit, we all know that we can't wait for the merit. To gain merit is not easy so the main key here is patience. Don't mind to get merit while you are posting instead, help other people and contribute so that everyone will notice you and you will gain merit if your post is good so it's really illegal to buy merit
1602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had a time traveling machine, then? on: May 06, 2023, 02:25:30 PM
Bitcoin is such an uncertain future currency that no one can say for sure what will happen in the future. Hundreds of predictions are constantly being made around Bitcoin. Predictions were made about this valuable currency in the past as well but some have gone down in history by selling this precious currency at a low price.

Martti Malmi sold 5050 bitcoins for $5 at a rate of just $0.00099 in 2009, setting the record for the lowest bitcoin sale in history.

Laszlo Hanycez made history by being the first person to buy a product at the lowest price in exchange for Bitcoin. He made history on May 22, 2010 by selling 10,000 Bitcoins for just $40-$45.

Our forum admin sir has sold his 160 bitcoins at a rate of only $0.003 on exchange for $0.48.

Pic collected: Source

Not only here but also in the past hundreds of Bitcoins have been traded which is amazing to see today. Those who traded Bitcoin at that time are now only regretting it and those who bought and held Bitcoin at that time, it is amazing to think how much their fortunes have changed today.

If you could travel back in time today, what would you do?

If i can travel back time maybe i can make a new timeline and i will fix myself and also i would go when the bitcoin is super low then travel to present just to sell and travel back again and again like infinite money haha. In reality, I will travel back when my mom is still alive, I will cherish my mom day after day until the time has come so I have no regrets because in present I didn't focus on my mom health so I'm regretting that time and I'm blaming my self why my mom died. Sorry for the sad story, good day to all !

1604  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The fear of losing bitcoin... on: May 06, 2023, 02:13:15 PM
I have seen and witness people involving in bitcoin, most people can not stay a moment without panicking. A colleague of mine who have Minuit bitcoin has buggy me with chats and calls to update if bitcoin will survive this years, why can't people know what you're engaging into first before diving into it and start acting like a child. Different set of people are into this bitcoin, even people don't have investment are making noise of bitcoin price collapsing.

But come to think of it many have bitcoin in B figures but you can't hear them making noise but people with $30 will not allow you to rest especially if you're responsible for introducing them. Bitcoin will rise when is due to rise, remove fear and plenty rumors.

I agree with this, if you're a investor, trader and you're panicking when the cryptocurrency or bitcoin that you buy dropped I think the crypto world is not fit for you. In any trade, you should know what will happen if you invest something and know the risk reward 'cause if you don't search about this you will panicking because of course it's money, your money.

Many telegram channel telling about bitcoin should be carefully examined before accepting whatever they offer or tell you to be your benefit I believe many people are looking for a way to get there own eareview in life
The one's who get scammed are people who wants to profit in a day invest they believe in whatever they are told to do and when they are scammed they begin to develop hatred against the platform telling people it is not a profitable trade.
It is important to be careful when being introduced to a trade newly
This issue should be report because there's more and more will create this scam channel and also bot. Scammer miss nothing, new people will get scammed day by day so be aware what you are clicking and chatting so goodluck.
1606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why can't regular flash drives store Bitcoin on: May 05, 2023, 07:37:27 AM
In most part of Africa hardware wallets are not only difficult but expensive to get apart form using custodian wallets like trust wallet and metamask is there an alternative software that can help hodl Bitcoin in a flash drive. or otherwise

you can store bitcoin and any other stuff life your private keys. If you're flashdrive can't store bitcoin, i think there's a problem with that. Hard wallet is the one I trusted and it's going pretty well.
1607  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of such ads on Instagram & Facebook! on: May 02, 2023, 10:02:35 AM
Today I came across a few advertisements on Instagram (I am sure they would appear on Facebook too) that promise a program can find lost/forgotten cryptocurrency wallets. For me, that was a red flag! The inquisitive me was eager to know what exactly was being offered. I went ahead and followed as instructed and found a telegram bot that was designed to install Malware on my mobile device.

Why are hackers targeting mobile devices

The crypto wallet market size would explode for sure and the same would happen for cryptocurrency exchange apps in the future. How can anyone ignore this fact. We are living in ,2023 where AI bots are controlling content generation & content development.
Considering those factors, imagine on what level scammers, spammer, hackers and a normal person would work on to fulfill the desired outcome.

Sharing the advertisement screenshot

You can read the message displayed on this screenshot. If you were a newbie or someone struggling with trading or you might have lost your fiat due to the volatility of the market, scammed by someone, wallet got hacked then what will you do? You would surely click on the Learn more button.

That is what I did and went to the next screen which was a self-hosted website. Why was a redirected to a website hosted by the hacker? The reason is Facebook's advertising regulation.

Next screen, I found the hacker

In the end it was telegram botl

What do you think this Telegram bot will do? Grin

If prefer to not any of the links, ads or whatever bot it is, if you didn't know what is that don't click because it might be a scam. Some scammer are totally evolving because they are paying ads or making a bot/site just to scam. Just ignore them and if you think that bot, ads and even site just report it. Have a nice day!
1608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do with bitcoin? on: May 02, 2023, 02:14:07 AM
Hello guys!
Today I was thinking about Bitcoin and where it will finally go up. And I came to the conclusion that I don't really understand what is the right thing to do with Bitcoin after it will "go to the moon".

So I wanted to ask you all, what are you planing to do with bitcoin when it will go to 70k, 80k etc. Are you planing to sell it or you will keep holding it?
If you will sell it, at what price are you planning to do it?
If this bitcoin go to 70k to 80k I think the best decision is to sell it and invest it. My goal is to be financially stable so i can't spend it to useless things. It's important to invest something not to hold in your bank account or buying some useless things, you can't get rich with that mindset and also maybe 30% for the investment %20 for daily needs and the other is for future purposes
1609  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Guide for getting + Merit on: May 01, 2023, 10:18:06 AM
A guide for getting +Merit.

With the introduction of the new Merit system, many people have a question:
"And how do I raise my rank?"
This topic will provide you with an answer to the difficult question.

Here are the basic steps:

1. English language.
Learn and improve your English language, its spelling and grammar.
The Duolingo service will help you in this.
Also, try not to use such words as: Sir. & Mr., many do not like it.

2. Knowledge is power.
Plunge into the sea of knowledge about crypto-currencies, keep abreast of the latest trends and updates.
Study popular topics on the forum and improve your knowledge and skills.
First of all, such topics as: Bitcoin Discussion, Development & Technical Discussion.
Also read all the topics that received the most amount of sMerit: Top-merited topics, all-time.
Read all the fixed topics in the English branch.
You should understand the meaning of such phrases as: Bitcoin Pizza Day (the original post Pizza for bitcoins?), 2011 bubble, Cyprus,
HODL (a little history of I AM HODLING) etc.
Also dont miss Bitcoin FAQ.

3. Write quality posts.
Become a quality poster. Remember that these are not necessarily long, boring posts.
It can be: qualitative answers or questions, themes created by you,
help other forum participants (for example TwitterAudit - Check your twitter for fakes - , then guys do a free audit, and some give merit),
you can create something that can be useful and something that will be appreciated (for example. Activity points calculator)
etc.

4. Be original and unique.
Do not repeat what has already been said. if necessary, add a link to the source in your post.

5. Catch fish in fishy places.
There are interesting topics, where for certain actions or answers give Merit.
Here are some of them:
A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin - ask questions, you answer and earn Merit.
Merit System Upgrade;
Topic & Post Review - sMerit to give;
The Utmost Epic, Totally Tubular sMerit Giveaway;
Joel_Jantsen's Merit Distribution Thread (Newbies Welcome);
Bitcoin Forum Puzzle;

6. Give up the less for more.
Keep your participation in Bounties programs to a minimum. Initially, it can be hard financially, however, in time, raising the rank, you will earn much more. Believe me, it's worth it.

7. Purposefulness.
Set a goal, this motivates and will help to go in front. Make a plan and act.
At the same time, Merit is not the goal itself, the priority is to create quality content that will become a source of merit.
(bitmover set the goal to get 100 Merit before the activity is 120 and easily reached its goal: 101 merit and 84 activity!)

8. Activity in business will lead you to success.
Taking an active part in the life of the forum and helping it develop, you will easily raise your rank, and most importantly get knowledge that will bring you pleasure and material prosperity.

This topic is an English adaptation. Original: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3741951.0

Thank you for attention!
Thanks OP, this is helpful to the newbie and also me that can improve my post i will note this. it's so important to have knowledge like grammar or something else, you just helped this community you will also learn what the other people says so thankyou for this post OP, have a great day !
1610  Economy / Gambling / Re: Without money, does it still qualify as gambling? on: May 01, 2023, 10:13:44 AM
Have you heard of Superpicks on DSTV? where you can make predictions and win money without staking your money?

if you have not, check it out. Superpicks.com

My question is can it still be called gambling if it is not played with money?
We have the word "risk" anything you do is also a risk but there's also a reward so gambling is a risk reward. You can gamble without money, you will think a way to get money, that's a gambling because you don't predict whether it's risky or not. You can gamble without money by playing free gambling but that's a low chance to win because like what you said "without money"
1611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling??? on: May 01, 2023, 10:09:23 AM
Reading another post, it crossed my mind that AIs and particularly ChatGPT could potentially be trained with a large samples of games played by poker champions and then put it to auto-play with amateur on-line players. If this is successful, it could mean the end of human on-line poker playing except perhaps for the world masters and the like. Has anyone tried? Would it be possible??
I think there's no way Chat GPT can destroy poker, we know that many a.i are evolving but human is evolving too. I don't think chat gpt can give you 100% to poker because sometimes chat gpt have mistake too. Chat gpt can give you a probability but that's not accurate so don't try to use chat gpt in poker if you don't want to lose your money because most of the poker and gambling sites are unpredictable
1612  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will you sell because of situations? on: May 01, 2023, 09:41:05 AM
This story is pathetic, the man who introduce me to bitcoin, his kid sis was knapped 2 weeks now and the kidnappers are asking for a huge ransom of  N10 Million Nigeria currency but the whole thing looks like a plan work from some people close to him because many people know him to be crypto dealer. Now this money is never available anywhere, the man's only option is to sell his bitcoin and even if he does is not up to the amount. Do you advise he sells and bail his kid sister?  Everybody is confuse.

Many things happens this days, putting you on a test! At what situations did you think you can sell your bitcoin and forget about bitcoin like it has never exist in your life. Knowing well the situation you're into many must have passed it and scale through without selling. What then will make you to sell even if the price is against you?

What do you choose? your daughter or your bitcoin? I would say my daughter, no matter how high the bitcoin are or how long you want it to hold if you're daughter is in danger, I would sell my bitcoin just for my daughter because that is a life and my loved ones and I will not hesitate to sell my bitcoin if the bitcoin is pumping tomorrow or the bext day or next year. No matter how long you hold in bitcoin, if you're daughter is in danger just sell it because bitcoin is always there if you sell it and my daughter will not comeback anymore.
1613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some common ways to discover phishing attacks on: May 01, 2023, 09:12:19 AM
Phishing is an act of getting people's personal information like usernames, passwords, credit card details and many more through sending fake messages, fake emails and a lot more claiming they are good people and wanted to help.
Phishing assaults are a popular sort of cyber assault in the crypto realm, and they can result in considerable financial losses.

Phishing has become a huge problem within cryptocurrencies and it is getting bigger day by day. Every day new people are getting involved in crypto, while phishers are seriously engaged in scamming newbies in crypto that is why people still see crypto as a way of scamming. I create this post to help everyone, especially newbies to be careful with the type of browser and also any site that involves phishers, and also  some ways to discover phishing attacks in the crypto space.

       Ways to identify phishing attacks
Ways to discover phishing attacks In the crypto space
Identifying phishing attacks is a little bit more difficult because phishers are very intelligent to go extremely higher for the message and the website looks too real and legit.

1. Grammar error: This happened as a result of being hurried up to send the message out, they do not even have time to go through what they have written.

2. Copycatting: In this aspect, you have to get familiar with the brand, logo, and poster, of the organisation's website. All mentioned can be manipulated if you didn't recognize them from the website.

3. Check the URL: Always be vigilant of any link that requires you to insert your personal information. Ensure to check the URL, because the scammer always uses websites with URLs. After checking the URL and is legit then HTTPS in the URL, if there is S at the end the website is secure for your personal information, but if not included then run away from the site.

4. Trust but verify: if a message or email is sent to you either by your friend or someone else, you must check the message thoroughly before clicking on the link. Phishers can do and undo, always scrutinize the email and also the authenticity before taking action.

5. Use a hardware wallet: use a secure wallet that has two-factor authentication, hardware wallet is a device that can see and handle which cryptocurrencies are kept offline. Attackers find it very difficult to access your crypto, private key, using scam websites.

Above mentioned are out of many detectors of phishing attacks, there are many more apart of above mentioned but following these tips can guide you away from phishing attack in the crypto space. Any form of an idea are welcome.
I experienced phishing sites and I noticed that their site is wanting your some information already like address or some password and pin related to your account. There's a lot of phishing website and they're copying the original site like metamask and ronin and when you go in that site they want to type your seedphrase there so quickly and I'm thinking that is a scam website. Avoid these kind of scam. thankyou and welcome!!

Does lack of sleep make people confused and forgetful?

Lack of sleep can cause depression and anxiety, you will get high chance of injury because you have speep deficiencies. It's really important to sleep everyday atleast 6-8 hours to relieve your pain and also your strength will rest. Don't sleep late and priority your health before money because if you have money and your life is dying, what will you do to money? So sleep everyday and something good will happen Smiley
1615  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: About shit coins on: April 26, 2023, 02:08:12 PM

Veterans know these shitcoins when they first see it not a hundred percent accurate but mostly they know where the coins are heading because of their experience in investment and trading. the problem is for the newbie who thinks they might just found some gold because they listened to the podcast from the influencers who are scammers and luring innocent people to the coins they invested with and when they see the price has drastically increased, they rushed to sell their coins and the newbies will take all the damage because, after that, the price will start to sink with no chance of recovering back so they will lose their capitals because the coins they thought was gold is now turning into shitcoins.
That's the problem of newbies who doesn't have someone to guide them especially those newbies who doesn't make lots of research. For me, I would only advice newbies to invest or whatever they want to do to Crypto that isn't new a d if ever they want to invest in new coins launched by a new company then they should invest in small amount of money rather than investing a the money they can afford to lose. There are shitcoins that looks promising but end up what you just said being a shitcoin.
Bro, some newbies think that the shitcoin is a quick income since the bitcoin is for long term, what they don't know is shitcoins is risky than altcoins or bitcoin. They don't want to be taught because they will think that they're s2pid so they investing without researching something about shitcoin that you investing. For me, you should research before you invest because that's your money and you work hard for it and it will be waste if you just buy it to shitcoin and that shitcoin gets dumped in a second.
1616  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you ever be afraid of holding? on: April 24, 2023, 01:51:36 PM

Have you also have that fears before? Is holding for too long OK?
Holding for too long is still okay, if you have trust on it go for it. You can hold for a longterm if you're financially stable and you're not worrying about what you hold. It's really important to have asset management, we know it's really risky to invest cryptocurrency and that cryptocurrency or trading is made for the risk taker so every holder know this, but if you're financially difficulty it's really bad to hold crypto like bitcoin if you're not financially stable, you will need the money that you invested because you need money for daily needs such as a food, bills and tother stuff so it's really important to know this before entering in cryptocurrency and hold such a money. god bless to you

What is back testing in trading and how we do it ?
back testing in trading is to go through historic data between 5 to 10 years but its less than this if you're on a 1 minute chart and to see whether your trading strategy is profitable over time whether it has a proven edge in the markets over time. It also applies predictive model to determine it's accuracy and this back testing can measure your profit and loss
1618  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't invest money you can't afford to lose out of greed. on: April 22, 2023, 07:56:25 AM
Every beginners should definitely know this that everything about making an investment involves taking risk, most especially in dealing with other cryptocurrencies aside bitcoin, whereby we don't know the genuine intention of the developers, also we needed to have it in mind that everything has time a d season, we shouldn't rush or overracted in doing something, we have to put it at the back of our mind that ultimate research is needed and we should secure our investment and always make it private.
Investing what you can afford to loss! Nobody want to invest to loss, sometimes is good to take a risk, there is saying that most of the successful people in the world today are all risk taker, if one is not ready to take a risk then that person is not ready to be successful, the main ideology is investing wisely and do not get too greed, and what I mean by do not get too greedy, is no one get rich overnight, is a process. so, where most people get carried away is when they have that mindset of getting rich immediately, that is where the greed comes to play.
In every investment, there's always a risk so this is normal for the people who's investing in a few years. Newbies must avoid being greedy when it comes to money. I've experience this when I'm starting in investing, I'm thinking that investing cryptocurrency make your life better or become a rich quickly so later on, the cryptocurrency that i invested became no value so after that I learned that nobody in this world will make a instant money or become rich quickly, you should work hard or be patience to obtain your goal. Don't be greedy and take a time, research about what you investing and invest what you can afford to lose.
