Tweaking help here.

Two SP10's both in the same place, same power, temps pretty close to the same, well within reasonable bounds. But vastly different performance.

Any ideas what can I do to the first one to bring it up to speed?
1603  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What can I use Bitcoin miners for other than mining? on: October 11, 2014, 11:53:21 PM
Why does everyone keep saying heat when this thing will have you in a hospital by 2016... Trust me your bitcoins won't help then. I think everyone is trying to sell their miners right now honestly

Why would heat from a Bitcoin miner be dangerous. My undervolted S1s run at only 40C. That's less than laptops, playstations, etc. I've never heard any report that heat from computers can be dangerous.

Heat from computers or any electronic devices will not harm you.
But the chemicals released from these extremely heated electronic components are harmful inhalants.
This is a documented stuff and papers are available on the internet.
From normal electronic devices like television, refrigerators, etc they are very much negligible.

Incase of these mining hardwares, their build quality is too low due to low life expectancy.
But they are running at extreme conditions for mining so the chemicals silently released are multifold than the others.

*cough*bulshit*cough*

You have to set fire to electronic components to heat them up enough to release the chemicals inside them.

I'm currently furiously mining coins for the next purchase, will keep an eye on this.

I want to see the day a manufacturer decides to make miners in EU or US will sell lots more miners as they will be
more atractive to buyers...but guess have to wait until I get used to

There already were/are manufacturers, they ended up being scammers or failing miserably due to poor business practices or just having terrible customer services.

Doesn't help in the EU anyway, you have to pay VAT whether you are importing goods or buying them locally.

Unless you are VAT registered. Then you can reclaim the VAT paid, and there is no VAT due on mining revenue [In the UK at least]. This isn't the reason I'm VAT registered, its just a side effect.

Yes you can reclaim it but you still have to PAY it. And most people aren't VAT registered as a business.

If you want to avoid VAT, you can host your miners with Bitmain on checkout. Also avoids delivery.

Yes thats a possibility, but doesn't really answer the whining that if EU manufacturers were around we wouldnt have to pay shipping, duty and VAT. Which we still would.

Hi, we are a prediction market and it is our goal to provide reliable information on the likelihoods of events.

We just added the event that KnC will shut down before Feb 2015: https://www.fairlay.com/event/category/bitcoin/bad-news/

So this number are the result of people willing to predict on or against the event. So you can a) watch the numbers to get better felling for what will happen, or b) if you have good information on this case then you can place a prediction on it and if you are right you will make money. (And by this you will improve the publicly visible forecast.

(more on how it works here: http://blog.fairlay.com/2014/02/information-should-have-a-price-but-a-fair-one/ and here http://blog.fairlay.com/2014/05/press-release-09-05-2014/)

We started shipping to our first few customers last week, end of Q3, as announced. We did find however, a software bug we need to resolve. We had to decide to stop further shipments, until we have fixed the bug. Right now our Software Team is working hard to get it fixed. We expect this to be finished by the end of this week, so we can resume our shipments again.

With best regards,

The MAT Team

is it a good assumption the payout queue is down Huh

Doing some maintenance

That last payout, seems to be taking a long time to verify, its only been seen by 1 peer after 4 hours. Huh

Makes no sense since every Eligius payout is in a block. So, wherever you got that information from is providing useless info...

Could only part of the block take longer to confirm than other parts?

Let me guess, you noobs think " why buy btc when you can mine for free ? ". Just spend $1.5k on a computer, and get btc forever right?

Awesome, keep buying.

Why do you care? To be right? To be thanked? To sound like an asshole every day?

Just curious why?

Does anyone know of any good software which can be used to monitor the stats of SP30 miners?

I have decided that pools sometimes just make up stats and would like an easier way to check the status of the miners than logging into each one individually.

Sometimes the pools will tell me that the miner is down to 1TH/s, when I log into the miner directly I see that it is running at 4.5TH/s.

Thanks guys.

Really what the pool says is more important than what the miner says. Because the pool is handing out the rewards. So what you really want is something that monitors the pool output.

Does anyone have the same problem as me with the new SP-30's?

Plugged mine in at the hosting space.

It now says 'The miner is not running or waiting for pool connection.'

Can anyone tell me what to do?

Have you entered your mining pool information?

Dogie, where we can keep hitting f5 to check for a new firmware ?

I THINK its at https://github.com/blockerupter/avr_hbc, but they'll publicise it once its ready.

Woah we're potentially getting a firmware update? That's good news.

I didn't say that at all? I was asked where I thought the repository was, so if it was to be published, where it would go up. I said I was guessing at the above link.

...probably why I qualified it with "potentiallly"....

Yes but its the same as saying we're "potentially" going to colonise Neptune...

edit: so i would also gladly be tipping anyone making some nice work done for AM at this point. cmon guys its time we roll up our sleeves. lets beat that competition! Anyone up for a badass GUI?! Cheesy

Not up to doing it myself, but minepeon would be the ideal GUI solution I would think.

Quite a few companies including sp-tech use it as the basis for their web interface.

I don't think the mesurement is misleading. That is what the mesurement is.  Each person has different tolelance level.  Definately, it is not as loud as SP10 for sure, but it is a different type of noise.  It is not a high pitch like SP10 but it is a noise from the high speed fan and the PSU cooling.

The noise is difinitely more than S3 x 1.  May be a bit more than S3 x 3-4 units.  Its not a fair to compare against 1 S3 vs 1 S4.  Power consumption between these machines are more than 4x higher.

Members here wanted to know the reading and specifically asked for it, so I powered up my S4 and provided 2 different mesurements. (I did the same with S3 when it first came out.)  Not what I think cusotmer shoudl know, but I try to provide what customers want to know.

That decimal reading is from 1 unit, we may try with stack of a few units in a quiet place & will have an amp reading as well.

What I mean is I can give a buyer two machines with identical dba readings. I can make one unbearable SP10 style, and one perfectly fine, but they will have the same reading. It makes the dba reading totally unsuitable for evaluating the quality of the noise generated.

Obviously someone asked for it so give it to them, I'm just giving my take on dba readings. And this is coming from someone who spend 16 hours a day 5m away from an SP10 for 4 months.

The answer to that is provide both dba readings AND HQ audio recordings or video recordings so people can make the decision themselves.

Its often done when testing fans.
