We'd need to get Alpharisc to state it for the scenario he foresees for XC. But the problem in general concerns two "rationally self-interested" prisoners who (a) get out of jail if one betrays the other prisoner, (b) get a longer sentence if both prisoners betray each other, or (c) get a shorter sentence if neither of them betray the other.
Edit: the idea is that it's rational to betray the other prisoner. However things get more complicated in the iterative version of the dilemma: prisoners get to repeatedly choose to betray or not betray one another. Alpharisc, to my mind this plays into the hands of a WOT model as long as it's combined with a means of punishment. What's your view?

Any such 'dynamic trust system' seems vulnerable to the iterated prisoners dilemma by design. The goal of any blockchain based currency is fully trustless transactions. That's the entire killer app of bitcoin and bitcoin like systems. 'Dynamic trust models' represent a clear problem that has been *long* known about in the literature.

It's sad that the DRK coin trolls don't know what they are even doing. We should want to help DRK too. But because these idiots, who have no real association with DRK anyway, keep trolling, there is every chance that if DRK meets some problem, some people will start attacking DRK coin.

Even if that were true, it's not a concern. It depends what you are looking for. I'm interested as the developer has experience in the real world with business, and I'm interested in his coin because of that. He has extensive experience in general too, so if he doesn't know absolutely everything that's to be expected and not a concern. Seriously I am much happier with that than with with some fool who spends all his time trolling on the internet. |

I asked earlier what people liked about QCN, and was a bit disappointed with the replies.
But here is one thing I like IIUC.
With QCN privacy is built in with the need for Masternodes (which I think both DRK and XC have).
This seems , to me, to be the biggest plus.
But we need more than just this to really make this a success.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The other thing is that compared to ,say, MRO this coin looks cheap and "fairer".
So we have an opportunity

Me too, but I think we need community. We need that GUI wallet too. There are a few "privacy" type coins popping up now. talk is that CRY has several developers (I don't know if that is true). The price of QCN may be cheap enough now to get more interest though |

This answer my question to why DRK instamined too much/half of their coins.
Early on in the life of DRK lots of coins were mined very quickly. Evan Duffield claimed that there was some bug or something , and that this was not intended to happen. I'm happy to be corrected on this though. I seem to remember you can find Evan's explanation at the darkcointalk forum |

the article/post say DRK is just a copy of Bitcoin CoinJoin (eg: Bitcoin's Dark Wallet), so, this is where the idea and the name Dark coming from? I guessed so.
Basically DRK/darksend is just a copy of Dark Wallet and this is why the coder can't seem to fix any DRK problem. CoinJoin is still an experiment! This answer my question to why DRK instamined too much/half of their coins.
No, you're wrong on all your points. And I counted 6 of them. Technically you are right....but Darkcoin does implement coinjoin (and so does the dark wallet). Evan Duffelid took that idea and implemented it, along with some other things into the Darkcoin protocol. Darkcoin attempts to decentralise the process via Masternodes Though I'm happy to be corrected here. |

I've seen this so many times. Miners keep telling everyone how good the coin is...but they themselves never buy any! The developer goes missing and the coin dies.
The only hope is for the community to take over the coin, but there is no community, only people mining.
Is there anyone here at all who wants this coin to succeed? If so you better do something soon.

Some are obviously knowingly playing the PnD game here openly  So you are saying the XC dev should be banned from assisting another developer, or he should keep it secret? Dan (atcsecure) has repeatedly said that he is not working with or helping any other altcoins. Yes i see that now, thanks. I don't really care what the Dev does. I have bought a few and am able to take responsibility for my decisions. I've bought some DRK too, and have the same attitude. These are second or third tier crypto coins, which means they are highly speculative. But the global environment is at a very interesting point and some of them may do very well. Or they may go to zero. I think the Dev has seen an opportunity and is looking to have a coin which provides privacy, just as the Dev of Darkcoin did. they may both succeed, they may both fail. One may succeed and the other fail. No one knows. |
