1641  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: June 15, 2012, 01:05:56 PM
So, how many customers have received a 50% refund of their account balance by now?

I got a mail asking how I want my refund (BTC or Mtgox code). So hopefully I'll receive my funds soon.

you got a mail which said you should add payout info to your claims page?

if so: everybody got it.

or did you get another mail?

Seriously people, If this is real, They can't find a hash cause they are probably using an old backup. How hard is that to surmise from that sentence?

I tried all passwords I ever had on my account, they all look like EA29l8H>hHYfP[chcfFWC){0w7K(qWKR but I somehow sure that I remember all of them correctly.

And the account in question was created in 2011. This is why I thought (rightly or wrongly) that this is simply a harvesting operation without any database to compare with.

It could be either but I got the same message and I opened my account only days before the breakin. But even so, what other possible legit use for our passwords could there be?

1) buy time
or
2) the hope that if there are duplicate claims for an account only the rightful owner will enter his password

Please say something. The price this rebounding and some of us had long positions quite large, were closed a week ago? still open? Will be closed from the now with good benefits? will be ignored?
Each day that passes increases the net value of accounts retained ...

They said already... all positions were closed weeks ago.

Did they?  I've been following pretty closely and I don't remember seeing that..

same here.
zhoutong just said what he would do.

but i did not see any response from intersango regarding open positions (i had a very tiny buy Wink

30 May 01:52: Consensus seems to have been reached. Waiting for final confirmation to move ahead so we can work out the actual payout implementation specifics.

any progress?
1648  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 30, 2012, 01:09:02 PM

I have been a Bitcoinica customer for the last several months.

I made a number of deposits to Bitcoinica from Mt.Gox, using Mt.Gox codes.
I executed dozens of trades, won some, lost some, made no withdrawals.
I never had any issues with the service so I made no complaints and sent no emails to support.

I don't seem to have received  _any_ emails from *@bitcoinica.com prior to the claims form.
I had a smooth, clean, entirely trouble free relationship with bitcoinica to the day of the last hack.

From reading zhoutongs inane unofficial suggestion I get a sinking feeling in my stomach.

Was transactional emails turned off by default? (I don't like frequent, automated emails cluttering my inbox.)
Am I looking at the wrong email address? Or am I missing something?

*slams head into keyboard*

you got an email when you deposited money (any currency).
i am in a similar situation: i just deleted them immediatly.

but at least i did had a verified account and made a wire transfer (dont know if i am respected member...).

what the?!? people sold for 0.08? why not wait for goat to buy back?

because i did not want to read a hole thread just for 15 shares?
1653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Emergency ANN] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 24, 2012, 09:39:14 AM
I just want my customers to get their money back (if your user ID is less than 4500, I'll definitely make sure you get your money back).

love to here that.
how do i determine my user id?
1654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Emergency ANN] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 24, 2012, 09:14:01 AM
I believe that his computer is not hacked. Only the email server was compromised. Also, I have checked the claim verification email system (I set it up and I still have some access) and the entire chain is clean and secure.

So you agree that hacker having all those emails. If he would publish all those, and reveal information about ownership of bitcoinica, contracts and whatnot, it would more or less invalidate those NDAs and you all could tell the whole true story.

We have replaced all the compromised servers and Internet accounts (we re-registered new ones).

Your passports are in my private repository (AES-256 encrypted), and the previous API access key was revoked. I'm the only person with access to such information now. Patrick et al. can request for the repository once they need it, but currently they don't.
Great to hear that at least those document should be safe.

if the hacker releases anything it does not automatically invalidate the nda, because nobody knows if the hacker wrote the mails himself.

a nda is a nda...

(but i am very interested in this mails; but if they are released you should read them with a big grain of salt)
 - i am not even sure if i am allowed to read them (german law is sometimes a little bit confusing.. a little "delete this mail if it is not for you" at the end of the mail is enough to forbid reading)
1655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Emergency ANN] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 24, 2012, 07:44:27 AM
If you get the consent to publish both in full please do. Realise that "cherry picking" though through a partial log might not be a smart long term strategy.

please state a date when you plan to close the claim process and start to refund people.
i just want to know when i can expect to get my money back.

a simple "there where claims made just yesterday" is not enough. you can not proove that.

we already waited much too long for OUR money.

btw: if you are so sure that we all will get our money back: why dont you just buy my 100btc debt for 80btc?
1656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Emergency ANN] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 24, 2012, 06:03:56 AM

I can understand that you are disappointed at zhou for revealing that it was your own server that got compromised. It can understandably be a bit embarrassing - a firm brought in for security itself leads to a compromise.

Sorry if I am having trouble understanding.

All good points. Not only Intersango was brought as consultant and failed miserably, but Patrick Strateman's (the Intersango "Security extraordinaire") email account was the single point of failure for this hack, which was accessed by his inability to secure his OWN mail server.

You gotta love his little bio at intersango:

"Patrick Strateman as CTO with a speciality in security, has led the way building up Intersango over the course of 3 months. "

LOLLLL ... to think some people in this thread was trying to argue with me when I suggested to pull funds out of Intersango fast.

personally i do like irony very much Wink
but i couldnt care less why they lost their money... its just their legal obligation to return it.

btw my offer "give me 80btc and get 100btc when bitconica pays" is still open
1657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Emergency ANN] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 23, 2012, 09:07:48 AM
anyone interested in given me 80btc now and get 100btc as soon as bitcoinica pays out?
just contact me Wink

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=83005.0

i was so dumb to take all my btc to bitconica.

EDIT: please no long text; just state when we get our money.
1658  Economy / Lending / Re: "lend" me 80btc; get back 100btc if bitcoinca pays back their customers on: May 23, 2012, 05:30:33 AM
He's basically selling his Bitcoinica debt.

I bought someone's WBX balance (still waiting for a return on it), but that was at much lower rates.

i think 20btc is enough
intersango is trustfull. i do strongly believe that they just need time.

as i said above: i had all my btc locked up at bitconica. thats main the reason i dont want to wait any longer.
1659  Economy / Lending / Re: "lend" me 80btc; get back 100btc if bitcoinca pays back their customers on: May 23, 2012, 05:29:27 AM
Did you already fill out the claim form?

yes, and i had a verified bitconica account and i am willing to send my passport to intersango.

i do still think that intersango will pay back: but i was dumb and had all my btc @bitcoinica.
