Isn't this out of date and we have until august to raise 30% of the funds?

Is it? That would be good  Grin I only found the thread recently... I'll read it all now Embarrassed

Edit: Yes, we have a payment plan   Grin Upthread is edited to match

30% payable by August 3
30% payable in December
40% payable in May
1662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: June 26, 2014, 11:24:48 AM
And while you are there voting for your wish list, look at this one too...

https://nxtforum.org/news-and-announcements/votes-needed-should-nxt-be-a-partner-have-a-booth-at-payexpo-2015-for-15k/

TL:DR Nxt was the only crytpo at the payment conference PayExpo 2014 on London. It put Nxt alongside Barclays in the headlines, it gave Nxt a huge exposure to old world banks and financial firms (not crypto firms). Bitcoin have since expressed an interest in being their partner for 2015.

[Edits below]
Luckily, Nxt's contract gives it first dibs for next year as long as we raise the first installment of money by Aug 3.

30% payable by August 3
30% payable in December
40% payable in May
[/edits]

Currently, there is overwhelming support for it but we need to crowd source more funds. So definately vote and then consider donating a few coffees/pints/magazines worth of Nxt Grin It would suck to Bitcoin is on the billboard next year  Cheesy

Go go go!

Long version:

Quote from: Tai Zen
1.  NXT was the official crypto currency partner of the 2014 PayExpo in London.  The cost to be a partner at the expo and have a booth and speaking time on stage is £15,000:

http://www.payexpo.com/page.cfm/ID=1

2.  Here is John Manglaviti (Cointropolis) and Lee Gibson's (TXTcoin) talk at the PayExpo about NXT:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qOTNHIX77w

3.  Right now, NXT has the option to be the official crypto currency partner of the 2015 PayExpo again for £15,000.  The deadline to make this payment and reserve the partnership and have a booth is June 28th.  If NXT is not a partner then the Bitcoin Foundation will probably fill the void and be the crypto partner.

4. £15,000 is only the "partner & booth" cost.  The hotel/flight cost of sending representatives from the NXT community to the payexpo will also incur additional cost but there will be a year to raise funds for the this.  Right now, if the community wants NXT to be at the 2015 PayExpo again, we will need to raise approximately £15,000 in NXT.

5.  Please leave your "yes" or "no" decision including a reason for your decision.

6.  Donations will also be needed to fund this decision.  if you would like to donate nxt to fund this event, please state the amount of nxt you will commit to this event in your comment.  Once there is enough "yes" votes and enough nxt donations, I will provide a receiving nxt address to receive the funds and pay the payexpo folks.

7.  Myself, QBTC, Damelon, and Uniqueorn are the folks involved in this matter.

8.  If the majority of community votes is "no" we will notify the PayExpo people we are not interested and will not pursue this matter any further.

9.  If the majority of the community vote "yes", and there is enough donation commitments from the community, then we will proceed accordingly.  If the majority vote is "yes" but there is not enough donation commitments coming in, then we will close the issue and not pursue this matter any further.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

10.  Several prominent people in the community are available to convert the donations into fiat off exchange so it will not have an artificial effect on the price of NXT in the case we have enough donations for the event.

11.  Please be sure to submit your vote at the top of this post so your votes can be tallied.

Thanks for your input in this matter.

Hi Gliss,

NEMStake has been added, which is great, but it isn't presentable in the format that everyone knows the pricing in. A NEMstake is worth about 30,000 NXT at the moment as that is what it is traded in. Could you add Nxt as an option in the display currencies to help with this please? So you have USD, BTC, EUR ... NXT on the drop down list. This will become more and more useful as you add assets from the Nxt Asset Exchange.

Thanks  Grin

Please support NXT next!

Can we support that without running a blockchain server of our own?

Sure, you could connect to a public node that has API access enabled, if that's what you mean.

Please suggest NXT to be added to Hive wallet here: https://github.com/hivewallet/discussions/issues/22

I don't have github so I spammed the BCT thread instead   Grin

P.S. This is for Nxt to be added to their Android and OS wallets!

I say yes, good idea. Makes it a bit more minimalistic.

I looked at the NEMstake in my NXT wallet, but the price seems to be crazy high, around 30 000 NXT for 1 NEMstake or am I reading it wrong? (never used NXT Assets before). How much do I need to buy to get into the distribution of NEM?

30000 nxt is crazy low. It has been traded over 100.000 and it will go over that again soon.

Careful. Only 0.1 of a NEMstake has ever been sold at a equivalent price of 100,000NXT/stake and it was in the first hour or so of trading before any kind of market price was established. Soon after NEM became range bound and is now testing the upperbound of the range due to the imminent release of the alpha software.

Use publicly available info to judge what you think is a fair price: http://nxtreporting.com/?as=12465186738101000735

Why is Vericoin (VRC) rising so fast on high volume?

I don't know, are an army of newly created sockpuppets pumping it?
1672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: June 25, 2014, 10:38:38 AM
Hi Gliss,

How hard would it be to add the daily trade volume of the Nxt asset Exchange to the Nxt 24hr volume? Nxt is being used to buy assests and not just other coins and so the coinmarketcap picture is incomplete at the moment.

In the last 24hrs, there has been 1.4Million Nxt traded on the Asset Exchange that isn't captured in the current 24hr volume. It would add an extra $88,000 dollars to the $97,000 that you are showing and give a complete picture of the amount of NXT changing hands.

I can put you in touch with the webmaster of nxtreporting.com if you need to ask any questions about implementing this.
1673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC/BLK) | PoS | Multipool | Coinkite | Mentioned on WSJ! on: June 25, 2014, 10:27:39 AM
the price and the volume tell us, blackcoin is going to die.

BC's volume is still higher than NXT on a decent day. And once Halo is released, NXT won't have much over it.t  Yet it is 6-7x the current BlackCoin market cap.

(and Halo is just one of the big projects planned for BC this summer)

Is Halo the crypto to crypto trading thing? If so, when will it be launched?

Yes... although that would only be the most 'mundane' aspect.  It's a smart contract platform, with all that entails.  So it's very possible to use it for crypto-to-crypto, but equally possible for fiat-to-crypto, or for that matter fiat-to-gold (with BC only playing the part of escrow 'insurance' funding).  Eventually it's possible to even use smart contracts for things that aren't necessarily even physical tangibles... like employment, franchise licensing, annuities, etc.

Basically if you can program the business logic behind any form of agreement between multiple parties - you can create a smart contract and back the transaction with cryptos.  Not sure how widely adopted such things will be for several years (look at how long it took before scanned images of documents were considered legally valid)... but eventually, I can't see why everything that we currently use paper, property, lawyers, etc. for won't be done in a purely electronic fashion. Smiley

Any ETA's?

omg how long does it take till blockchain is downloaded for 1.1.5?

It is ~280Mb last I checked. You can copy the folder nxt_db from previous version if you don't want to download the whole things each time you upgrade.

Normally happens quickly though.

Update on next release of NRS (v1.2.0) Grin

Just so you know, 1.2.0e already has an extra transaction type; encrypted arbitrary messages.. In the core.

(The 'e' in 1.2.0e stands for experimental, used during testing)

what i dont think all the sellers realise is, once multigateway https://nxtforum.org/nxtservices-releases/(beta-m08g5)-multigateway-gui-release/ comes out, it will turn nxt into the first decentralised trustless "crpyptsy/mintpal"

and as far as i know, nxt clones will be able to clone the software and in turn be the 2nd, 3rd or 4th, depending which clone clones it first!

and you can imagine what that will do for the price!

A couple of minor things about Multigateway Grin

It won't be 100% trustless but it will be 1000 times better than what we have now. The servers have to agree on a withdrawal before it takes place so you have to trust the server operators not to collude. As these are Multigateway, Bithaus and mynxt.info (three major Nxt businesses that rely on Nxt being used for their own future), this is illogical to think they will collude as they will destroy their businesses and reputations in the process.

Also, Multigateway isn't a core feature of Nxt. It is  jl777 third party software that runs on top of Nxt. It is effectively his business. James has kept the 'secret sauce' of multigateway secret and it is up to him if he wants to allow several months of work and tens of thouands of lines of code to be cloned in a day  Grin

I am not trying to put a downer and I'm sure Kod isn't trying to mislead us but didn't want to let this be accepted as fact  Grin

Multigateway (almost trustless crypto to crypto trading) has it's new GUI  Shocked

https://i.imgur.com/vgVJcK2l.png

This just got real  Grin Testers needed.

Go go go!  Grin Grin

This is great!

Next improvement could be to update to a model like Coinffeine, so there is no need of middlemans (even if they are distributed)
You can have a look, Coinffeine approach is really cool and decentralized, http://www.coinffeine.com/

Coinffeine approach is distributed (so it says on the front page of the website), in what way are they decentralised?

Edit: has it launched yet? There is a coming soon button on the front page. Edit 2: No, not yet.

That is so freakishly awesome!

Basically with this GUI every crypto-idiot can use it. It is like a simple exchange.

Well done!

Gonna buy some NXT now! (EVEN MORE!!!!)

THIS!!!  Cheesy

Props to jl777, longzai, vanbreuk, joefox, msin, oldnbold, valarmg and about 5 others who I can't remember right now for getting us this far  Grin
1680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: June 24, 2014, 01:10:16 PM
This is really amazing. I don't understand all the tech behind it, but I heard it's a big deal.

Once you have a go, you'll wonder why you thought it was so hard  Grin

Think of multigateway as an exchange, but not centralised. The steps are almost the same.

You have BTC and want Nxt so:

1) Send your BTC from your wallet to Multigateway (the exchange).
2) Multigateway converts the BTC into assets (mgwBTC) and puts them in your linked Nxt Account. So all mgwBTC are backed by real BTC.
3) Trade the mgwBTC for NXT on the AE.
4) Nxt in now in your account instead of mgwBTC.

You have just converted BTC to Nxt in an almost trustless way  Grin Grin Good, no?

In reverse, you have NXT but want BTC:

1) Buy mgwBTC on the Asset Exchange, using your Nxt.
2) Send the mgwBTC to the Multigateway.
3) Multigateway converts the asset back into the BTC that is backing it and deposits it in your BTC wallet.

Easy!  Cheesy You'll go through this process once and I'm confident you'll 'get it' if you don't already. Bitcoin, Litecoin and Darkcoin are currently supported but any bitcoind can be added in minutes (I'm told).

It isn't at mass adoption stage yet and needs more testing but it is an incredibly powerful feature. Combine this with Automated Transactions (trustless transactions) and we have the foundation of a digital economy  Shocked  Can't wait  Grin
