1721  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.96.5 compatibility with SegWit-Bech32 or SegWit-P2SH on: December 12, 2022, 05:47:33 PM
Armory can generate nested segwit (p2wpkh-p2sh) addresses, but it can't generate native segwit (bech32) addresses.
For generating a nested segwit address in Armory, click on "Address Type" when generating a new receiving address and check "P2SH-P2WPKH address".
If you want a bech32 address, you have to use another wallet.
1722  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum new wallets => Seed Type: Segwit on: December 12, 2022, 09:45:34 AM
Looks like electrum created it own verification and it is non Standard.
That's standard.
As you know, a private key can generate different types of addresses.
If you sign a message from the legacy address derived from your private key, you have actually signed the same message from the segwit address derived from the same private key as well.
Note that you sign the message with your private key, not with your address.
1723  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does Bitcoin Under Bep-20 works ? on: December 12, 2022, 08:31:01 AM
There is no bitcoin on binance smart chain and you can't send bitcoin to a BEP20 address at all.
What you send and receive on binance smart chain is a token which is claimed to be begged to bitcoin and it's normal that you don't see such transactions on bitcoin blockchain.

I recommend you to avoid those fake bitcoins and use the real bitcoin which has only one blockchain. A real bitcoin address starts with 1, 3 or bc1.

So, it seems to me that the TWM always does boost the odds, and this extra money comes from a reduction in the outcome odds.
I understand you, but whatever odds they show there, it doesn't change the fact that those who bet late don't really get any bonus and the time factor is against them.
Those who place their bet late would get better odds if the odds didn't depend on time and there was no time weight multiplier at all.
1725  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum new wallets => Seed Type: Segwit on: December 11, 2022, 10:46:22 PM
Electrum's seed phrases include a version number that determines the addresses type. Unlike BIP39 seed phrases, you can't generate different types of addresses using an electrum's seed phrase. In other words, you can't generate a legacy wallet using a seed phrase that has been generated by electrum for a segwit wallet and vise versa.

Since the version 4.1.0, electrum generates a segwit wallet by default and don't ask you the wallet type.
If you want to generate a legacy wallet on electrum, you can go to console and use the following command.

Code:
make_seed(128,"","standard")

Anyway, I was under the impression the time weight multiplier always gave a boost to the final outcome odds, it just gives less of a boost to those who bet late.
If that was the case, the house would lose money.

Assume that there's a match between teams A and B.
All the money that has been put on team A is 100 BTC and all the money that has been put on team B is 300 BTC. You have put 0.01 BTC on team A.
The total money is 400 BTC. 5% of that 400 BTC goes to the house and 95% of that goes to the winners. So, the prize pool is 380 BTC.

Team A wins the match and they should give your prize.
Assuming there is no time weight multiplier, you will get 380 * (0.01/100) = 0.038 BTC

If you have placed your bet early, you will get more than 0.038 BTC. Ask yourself where does the extra money come from.
The extra money comes from those winners who have placed their bet late.
If the house increase the winning amount of those who have placed their bet early without decreasing the winning amount of those how have placed their bet late, they will lose money and that's not possible.
1727  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Watch out for this NEW TransferFrom Zero Transfer Scam! on: December 11, 2022, 09:26:55 PM
Some days ago, someone reported the same thing on binance smart chain. So, it seems that this type of scam isn't limited to Tron blockchain.

@hosseninimr93 I totally agree with you, because personally I have seen lower odds then what was shown when I wagered even at 99.99% weight multiplier.
Of course, the change in the odds isn't only due to that and it's possible that the final odds are even higher than the odds you see when placing your bet.
Freebitco uses parimutuel betting system. The odds depend on which outcome other users will bet on and it's normal that they are not fixed.
1729  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hoe to Get Segwit( bech32 ) Address Easily? on: December 11, 2022, 05:24:49 AM
Do they? Didn't they have Legacy? I can't remember though I have used Trust Wallet long ago.
They do. Trustwallet generate a segwit address for bitcoin. Of course, this doesn't mean trustwallet should be recommended.

The fees is fixed around 0.0005 BTC or $8 at the moment,
Wrong.
They used to charge 0.0005 BTC for bitcoin withdrawal, but the withdrawal fee is now 0.0002 BTC which is around 3.5 dollars.

Yes slaman29 but you shouldn't forget the Time Weight Multiplier which gives you a boost on the final odds, even when it is already low.
The time weight multiplier doesn't always increase the winning amount.

Assume that the prize pool is 1 BTC and there are 100 winners.
If there was no time weight multiplier, each of the winners would get 0.01 BTC.
The time weight multiplier makes the profit of those who placed their bet early more than 0.01 BTC and those who placed their bet late less than 0.01 BTC.
1731  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hoe to Get Segwit( bech32 ) Address Easily? on: December 10, 2022, 06:47:09 PM
1) For PC users, Install Electrum wallet and that follo simple procedure and you will find your Wallet address that will be Segwit and usually initiated with the becl address code.
Usually initiated with becl?
That's wrong. Native segwit (bech32) addresses always start with bc1 and nested segwit addresses always start with 3.
Also, electrum is available for android phones as well.

2) Use Binance cause Binance supports Segwit deposit address and that's so simple and Binance helped me very much and that is simplest method to get Your BTC address.
Note that Segwit soft fork was implemented more than 5 years ago and most of exchanges support segwit addresses.
1732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to create HD multisig on: December 10, 2022, 04:18:00 PM
You can create a multi-signature address using createmultisig command, but you can't have a seed phrase. Bitcoin core doesn't support seed phrase at all.

For creating a multi-signature address, you can use the following command.

Code:
createmultisig M "[\"Publickey1\",\"PublicKey2\",....................,\"PublicKeyN\"]"
This creates a M of N multi-signature address.
1733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why does the bitcoin.org page redirect to bitcoin core 22.0? on: December 10, 2022, 12:16:11 PM
Thanks. Is there a way to join the bitcoin network or become a full node without having to pass from an owned source that makes the/a software available? Because, I suppose, to become a full node is necessary to have a specific software, right?
Note that Bitcoin core is open-source and you don't have to trust the website you are downloading the software from.
You can download the source code, review the code and compile bitcoin core from the source. (Of course, if you have the required knowledge of that.)
1734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why does the bitcoin.org page redirect to bitcoin core 22.0? on: December 10, 2022, 11:01:15 AM
Since bitcoin comes with a software, I suppose there has to be a source/website where to find the original software; Isn't it so that there must be an official source, whence the original software is firstly available?
Any website has to be owned and controlled by someone. There is no one in the world qualified to own the bitcoin official website.
Also, if there's an official website, then the community have to trust the owner of the website. Bitcoin is a trustless system and that's not possible.
1735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why does the bitcoin.org page redirect to bitcoin core 22.0? on: December 10, 2022, 10:26:32 AM
Why does bitcoin.org, which is supposed to be the official bitcoin site, redirect to a version of the Bitcoin Core software that is old and implicitly non-official?
Take not that there is no official bitcoin website. Since bitcoin is decentralized and isn't like a company owned by someone, it doesn't have an official website at all.
From About bitcoin.org:

Quote
Bitcoin.org is not Bitcoin's official website. Just like nobody owns the email technology, nobody owns the Bitcoin network. As such, nobody can speak with authority in the name of Bitcoin.

As mentioned by LoyceV above, you can download the latest version of bitcoin core from Bitcoincore.org. That's the official website of Bitcoin Core.

1736  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Deleting Armory wallet on: December 10, 2022, 09:41:20 AM
So question is: What actuality happens if Armory is used and wallet deleted from after use by pressing Delete/Remove Wallet button on the Wallet Properties screen?
The wallet file will be deleted and you will need the wallet's root key or your private key(s) to access your bitcoin.

Can this deleted wallet file be somehow restored and keys recovered and bitcoins get stolen?
It's possible that the files that have been deleted from your device can be restored using a data recovery tool. So, the wallet file hasn't permanently gone.
If you want the files to be permanently removed, you should wipe your hard drive using an eraser tool.
1737  Other / Meta / Re: The long waited Nickname has been given (The Sceptical Chymist) on: December 09, 2022, 08:05:48 PM
No results when i put in "The Sceptical Chynist",
That's because you should search for "The Sceptical Chymist", not The Sceptical Chynist.
If you search for "The Sceptical Chymist" and click on the result, you will see that the message is sent to "The Pharmacist".
1738  Other / Meta / Re: The long waited Nickname has been given (The Sceptical Chymist) on: December 09, 2022, 06:25:13 PM
Out of curiosity, i tried registering using "The Pharmacist" and:

That's because theymos has only changed the display name. The username hasn't been changed.
For more information read the post made by theymos before.

Go send a PM, click Find Members, type The Sceptical Chymist, click Search. Click The Sceptical Chymist. See what happens Smiley
Also, click on Members, go to "search for members" tab and search for the old name.
1739  Other / Meta / Re: Does BitcoinTalk kill all my sessions when I logout? on: December 09, 2022, 10:42:45 AM
I normally use 3 different devices to access the forum, and logging in and out on one device does not affect login on another device.
You are probably wrong.
If you logout from your account in one device, you are automatically logged out from your other devices as well. That's how the forum works and your account can't be an exception.

Read the post made by theymos about this before.

- If you logout on one session, all of your sessions are logged out.
1740  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What do you think about trust wallet? on: December 08, 2022, 02:26:33 PM
If someone has installed the Blue Wallet app on their Android then imports it from the Trust Wallet app by entering the phrase as I explained above, that means that's not a safe step. Maybe you mean a safer step is to move coins by sending coins from the Trust Wallet address to the Blue Wallet address. Is it really like that?
Right. That's exactly Pmalek's point.
If the wallet has been generated by a close-source wallet like trustwallet, we don't know how the keys have been generated and whether they have access to the keys or not.
With importing the seed phrase generated by trustwallet into bluewallet, you don't change anything.
