1761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering 'missing' taproot (?) Satoshi on: December 04, 2022, 10:36:25 PM
Scanned qr code zpub/xpub from Trezor suite.
zpub/xpub is the master public key used for deriving individual public keys and addresses of an HD wallet.
A master pubic key starting with xpub is used for deriving legacy addresses and a master public key starting with zpub is used for deriving segwit addresses.
You imported a xpub and created a legacy watch-only wallet, not a taproot wallet.
1762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering 'missing' taproot (?) Satoshi on: December 04, 2022, 10:24:50 PM
Recieve addresses start with "1" on the BlueWallet taproot wallet I imported
As address starting with 1 is a legacy address. This means that the wallet you created on bluewallet wasn't taproot at all. A taproot address starts with bc1p.
How did you create your watch-only wallet on bluewallet? You probably imported a xpub.
1763  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam by MontPythonn !! on: December 04, 2022, 03:58:23 PM
Making a scam accusation topic without providing any evidences is really useless.
You should provide details on what exactly happened and how you got scammed. For example, you can add transaction hashes of the payment you made and tell us what was their response if you contacted them.
1764  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Canceling a transaction on: December 03, 2022, 06:50:41 PM
Do I always have at least 10 minutes, 3 hours or 1 day to cancel the transaction?
Can't say how much time you have to cancel a transaction.
If your transaction has been flagged as RBF, as long as it is unconfirmed, you can replace it with a new transaction paying higher fee.
It's possible that your transaction is confirmed in a few seconds. It's also possible that it stays unconfirmed even after says.
As mentioned by Charles-Tim above, the higher fee rate you set for your transaction, the faster it can be confirmed.

I knew, but forgot, how to check each member's status without visiting BPIP (and I'm going to do that, but I'm not sure if that data is updated in real time).
The easiest way to check if you're on DT, is by checking one of the profiles you tagged with ";dt" behind the URL:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=20786;dt
And I think the easiest way to check whether you are a DT1 member or not without using BPIP is to check DT voting page.
If you have been listed for voting and your username isn't strikethroughed, you are DT1 member.
1766  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: December 03, 2022, 08:41:14 AM
Am I off DT altogether?  I've neither been added nor deleted, so....
That means that your status hasn't been changed and you are not a DT1 member.

Yeah I've been here for a hot minute, but when it comes to utilizing the finer machinations of the forum I've been full retard from day one--so I knew, but forgot, how to check each member's status without visiting BPIP (and I'm going to do that, but I'm not sure if that data is updated in real time).
You can check the list of eligible DT1 members on DT update log. Of course, it's possible that a user is eligible for being a DT1 member but isn't a DT member due to being untrusted by other DT1 members.
You can also visit your trust setting page to see the list of all DT1 and DT2 members. (Note that you should add ";dt" to the end of the URL. Otherwise, you will see your own trust network instead of the default trust network.
1767  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Randomly picking 24 words from the BIP39 wordlist on: December 03, 2022, 07:02:31 AM
but we still need a way to make sure we wrote it down correctly.
There's a very easy way for that. Double check (or triple check) what you wrote down.
You can also recover your wallet from the seed before sending any fund to that to make sure the seed phrase is correct and it generates the same addresses.
1768  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Canceling a transaction on: December 03, 2022, 06:54:37 AM
For my general development. What else do wallets exist that have an cancellation option?
You can use bluewallet too. Bluewallet is a non-custodial and open-source wallet that allows you to make RBF-enabled transactions, bump the fee and cancel transactions (Cancel means replace the RBF-enabled transaction with a new one paying higher fee and sending the fund to yourself)
1769  Other / Off-topic / Re: Am I being scammed? on: December 02, 2022, 05:41:13 PM
Addendum to original post: he has shown me an ETH view only wallet with the money in it that he has promised and that because it is coming as a trustee or something from a business wallet account to a personal one as the reason why these fees are needed.
Take note that anyone can easily create a watch-only wallet using others addresses and since a watch-only wallet doesn't have any private key, it's not possible to spend fund from that. This means that most probably the wallet they showed you didn't belong to them at all.
1770  Other / Off-topic / Re: Am I being scammed? on: December 02, 2022, 05:15:58 PM
This type of scam has been around for years. Any service or any person asking you to deposit money to be able to make a withdrawal is surely a scammer and there is no exception.
Don't waste more money.
1771  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Canceling a transaction on: December 02, 2022, 04:29:15 PM
I use a mobile app. How do I enable it there?
After you tap on "Pay" button on the mobile version of electrum, a new window for confirming the payment pops up.
If "Final" is unchecked in that window, your transaction will be replaceable by fee. If "Final" is checked, your transaction won't be replaceable by fee.
Note that by default, "Final" is unchecked and electrum make RBF-enabled transactions.
1772  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Randomly picking 24 words from the BIP39 wordlist on: December 02, 2022, 08:29:55 AM
Because this checksum thing can't fix things if there were too many mistakes made like writing words in the wrong order and leaving a few of them out.
Your expectations from checksum are too high.
Checksum only helps detect errors. Checksum isn't supposed to eliminate the errors or correct them. You should always double check or triple check your seed phrase after writing it down to make sure there is no error.
1773  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Using FreeBitco.in's daily compound interest or not ? on: December 01, 2022, 05:00:38 PM
HI there,I am thinking of using the FreeBitco.in daily compund interest.
Freebitco has been around for nearly 10 years and they are surely one of the most reputable bitcoin related services. But I still recommend you to avoid any custodial service for keeping your coins. Keep your coins on a non-custodial wallet, so you can have full control over them.

Now, I am wondering can I user a VPN, TOR or anything similar to access the website without being banned and having my Bitcoin seized ?
If you are going to use VPN for multi-accounting, that's surely against their rules. I have seen many reports regarding banning accounts due to abusing their system.

By the way, freebitco have a thread in the forum. You may get a better response if you ask any question you have there.
Click here to visit their thread.
1774  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How dose Blockchain works? on: December 01, 2022, 01:33:54 PM
In simple terms, blockchain is a public ledger including all (confirmed) bitcoin transactions that have been ever made.
Thousands of copies of blockchain are kept all around the world by thousands of people. This makes bitcoin decentralized and changing or removing the transactions impossible.
With this technology, transactions can be made without any need to a third party.
1775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to send BTC to BInance from cold storage on: December 01, 2022, 07:58:05 AM
Electrum is a wallet that you can make it offline, this is different like online wallet such as binance,
Binance isn't a wallet. It's an exchange.

Alternative wallet that you can use beside electrum is the bitcoin core wallet or Hardware wallet
I doubt bitcoin core is suitable for OP. For using bitcoin core, OP will have to download the full blockchain.
As already suggested, the best option for OP is electrum and I don't think he/she needs any alternative wallet.
1776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to send BTC to BInance from cold storage on: December 01, 2022, 06:52:19 AM
As already suggested in the previous posts, for spending fund from your paper wallet, you can import your private key into electrum. But note that you would defeat the purpose of the paper wallet if you import your private key in a device that has been connected to the internet.
The purpose of a cold storage is that your private key doesn't connect to the internet at all. Otherwise, your wallet is no longer a cold storage.

By the way, why don't you create a HD wallet instead of creating a single private key and a single address?
1777  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Randomly picking 24 words from the BIP39 wordlist on: December 01, 2022, 06:32:03 AM
that really doesn't seem ideal. it makes me wonder about this whole checksum thing and if it's really all that important or just a gimmick.
Are you saying it's bad that there would be 128 possibilities for the last word? What's the problem with that?

can't write down 11 words?
I don't see any reason for not writing the 12th word. But if you have written down 11 words and don't have the 12th word for any reason, it can be easily brute-forced and there wouldn't be a big problem.
1778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can bitcoin core generate lower case bc1q* QR for receiving payments on: November 30, 2022, 09:15:56 PM
All Bech32 addresses created by my Bitcoin Core installation are lower case.
I think OP is referring to the QR code displayed when clicking on "Create new receiving address" in the GUI.
If you scan the QR code, you will get an address with uppercase letters and "bitcoin:" prefix.

bitcoin:BC1Q..........
1779  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How safe are offline wallets? on: November 30, 2022, 07:21:37 PM
What happens if the HDD goes bad, though? Backing up the seed phrase enough to recover it from another computer, I guess.
Right. All your private keys can be derived from your seed phrase and that's all you need for recovering your wallet.

So, if I understand correctly, backing up the seed phrase on paper, for example, and setting the wallet to watch-only removes the ability to send funds and practically secures your wallet. Thus, in case I want to send Bitcoin to someone, I have to recover my wallet using the seed phrase. Am I correct?
For spending bitcoin from your wallet, you should create an unsigned transaction on your watch-only wallet, sign it on the offline device and broadcast it using your online device.
In this way, you can make transaction without your seed phrase connecting to the internet.
1780  Other / Meta / Re: What happen when two person report the same post on: November 30, 2022, 06:41:28 PM
So if its good everybody that has reported it gets a good report and so is it the same with a bad one or unhandled report !
All reports that are made for a post won't necessarily have the same status.
If a report is marked as bad, that doesn't mean all other reports are bad too. Moderators should handle other reports manually. It's possible that there's a good report among them.
