FEE UPDATE / REMINDER

We have now hit block 114,000 and all fees have transitioned to their new values!!

The fees are now as follows:

Delegate Registration: 100 XCR (down from 10,000)

Second Passphrase Registration: 5 XCR (down from 100)

That's huge change. What is the reasoning of this?

We are sensitive to community input and after discussions internally, we adopt the ideas that we feel best contribute to the success of XCR.

Those other "shit coins" use algos like X11, X13, X15, JHA, SHA3 Keccak.  The devs got lazy here and chose SHA256.  As we all know, there is over 1000PH of hash power available in ASICs and ASIC farms.  ASIC farms have become unrofitable with the drop in BTC price.  Why not switch to a new coin that is 100% hype and no substance, mine it like crazy, and then sell quickly?

If the devs were serious about succeeding, they would have used another ASIC free algo, like Keccak, or X15.

They did not do their proper testing on Testnet prior to launch, or they would have found that their retargeting does not scale up.

If the main purpose of this huge hash attack is just to mine it and dump it for profit, sure I can see the point about the incompetence of the choices made in the setup of the coin to prevent this.

However if there is some political point trying to be made here by an entity mass instamining the coins to punish the foundation here, I don't see their POV. If this particular entity think Bitseeds is a scam, how is harvesting 900k coins, dumping them on the market and making off with the BTC going to rectify that? That just makes one thief stealing from another.

Now if they took those 900k coins and DONATED them DIRECTLY to the Rainforest Foundation and kept them out of the hands of greedy speculators, that I could respect a little more.

If whoever was behind this and is reading this really wants to do the right thing, prove it by doing something positive with the coins instead of just enriching yourself and pretending you're a white knight.

The 130PH ASIC farmer would not have been using a pool, he would have mined directly.  As such his IP address is logged.  His wallet address would also be known, as well as any transfers to exchanges or other wallets, which also would have IP address logs.

Have the devs posted this information?  If not, they are either incompetent, complacent, or culpable.   WHICH IS IT?

As much as I personally dislike Bryce, how petty do you have to be to turn a 1/3rd of Bitcoins hash rate over to try and kill a charity coin?  Out of all the cookie cutter scam coins that pop up week after week on here this is what they choose to attack? I prefer the market decide what they like or don't like, not outright vandalism.

I guess you liked the logo of bitseed.org so much, you copied it?

Karma is a Bitch.

How you gonna secure the block chain when nobody is mining?
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCR] Crypti | DPoS | 100% own code | Dapp Store on: April 24, 2015, 01:15:02 AM
When I enter my account from wallet.crypti.me I see green "Start Forging" button. When I enter my account from my server 104.207.155.106:8040 I see red "Stop Forging" button.

You cannot use the web wallet for forging from that server.  You need to enable forging from the server that is hosting your delegate.

The web wallet should not even be showing the ENABLE FORGING button. But it shows, becuz  It is the same version as the public wallets, without any alterations.

How does it count uptime? My Vultr server is running (104.207.155.106), forging is enabled, but I see 0% uptime.

Uptime will only be calculated AFTER you become one of the 101 active delegates and it is based on how many of your assigned blocks you forged. So if you are an Active Delegate and during a round, you miss your assigned block, then your uptime % will go down a bit.

Some standby delegates have calculated uptime because they were active delegates before?

yes
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCR] Crypti | DPoS | 100% own code | Dapp Store on: April 23, 2015, 11:59:09 PM
For some reason I can't start forging with my delegate http://cryptichain.me/address/16830306810015698616C. It says: "Accesss denied.". Or the forging option is not available because I'm not among 101 delegates yet?

I also tried to enable forging with changing config.json, but after I changed it I wasn't able to start app.js again. My node just stopped. I had to re-install Crypti in order to start it.

What does it say on your ACCOUNT page, at the top?

It should list delegate status after the balance.  You may be trying to enable forging when you have already done so.

You need to enable forging, even though you are not in the 101 club, so that when you are elevated, you forge immediatly.

Crypti Design Preview

Today I want to show you something we worked on for quite a while already, a new design for our client. We as a team wanted a sleek, intuitive and familiar user interface... our designer created something really beautiful!

Stay tuned, there is still so much more to come for Crypti and we truly believe, that we create something huge here!

The Crypti Foundation

Wow.  Absolutely beautiful.  The features you outline going forward thru 0.5.0 are all critical.

That said, at some point we've got to shift from desktop/laptop/tablet client to a mobile platform.  Let me propose my vision of a goal for Crypti 0.6.0 or 0.7.0 or....

Using Crypti on a smartphone, purchase a relatively small item like a candy bar from a vendor running a Lite client on a small black box.

Keep up the great work, gang.

In Northern Europe, especially the Scandinavian countries, you have been aboe to do this for 20 years.  With your Nokia Phone, you call the number listed on the vending machine, and select your item, then they bill your phone by deducting the amount from your SIM card balance.

That is some sick stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

Grandpa_seth..... long time no see.....

Are you back with Crypti now, or still hoping that SIA coin will come back?

Can I ask really stupid Delegate questions?

Do I need to be running things on MY OWN GEAR to run a delegate? Or, can I just set something up remotely and then call it a day? Just pay month to month and let the delegate run itself and have perfect uptime as long as it's good gear and always paid on time?

Sorry for these absurdly stupid questions, but I don't know anything about nodes and delegates. However, I AM willing to pay the month to month costs to run something out of the USA and keep it online 100% of the time (if this is only a cost related issue). I am moving around a lot this year and CANNOT run gear from my own home in a reliable way this year - so, if this is something that is needed to be done locally, then I will pass on this!

Thanks to whomever helps out answering these silly questions.

It is not a dumb question.... I started my delegate on my GPU miner.  It was only getting 50% hits on forging.  We had other problems with windows machines from other delegates.  We determined that lag time to delegates that were far from the internet backbone was too great for the 10 second blocks.  We have also determined that the time sync on windows machines is not accurate enough.

SO, I moved my delegate to a cloud server.  Has almost 100% uptime since then.   I suggest you host your delegate on one of the $5 a month cloud services.

Perhaps Eric will post a "how to" on setting up a Vultr account.

Don't you think it's time to do some marketing? One of Nxt keys to success was price growing which led to pretty good bounties and interest of developers. If people learn about Crypti potential and the price go higher, large holders would be able to invest some of their coins in projects around Crypti. Let's say someone own 1M Crypti, it's pretty much worthless now, but if the price is higher it makes possible to spend 100-150K for bounties and other stuff.

I know you'd like to make a great product first, but honestly I don't see the collision of interests. On the contrary, development and pr are two things that could go together at the same time and help each other. There won't be any good moment to start marketing, there will always be some features to finish, some bugs to fix.

The decision was to market after we have a product that will hold the interest of the public.  In market speak "the hook".

Pre release Advertising for something like Star Wars, works because it is a known quantity.  The first Star Wars movie was not advertised at all. The long lines outside the theater were advertising enough.

If we spent money on marketing now,  the visiting public would see "just another alt coin".  Unlikely they would remember to check on us again once we have the DAPPs functional.

Also, we dont have the budget of the big boys, like NXT and Ripple.  Our BTC we got in the IPO was only 750, at community request, and since then the price of that BTC is 1/3 of the IPO value.  Other coins launched around the same time had 2000 BTC and more IPOs.  We sold too cheap.

We need to spend out marketing budget to get the most bang for our money.

What you're saying is that you wouldn't want bitcoin miners to have a vote when those miners are the ones that cause the most destruction given the volume of mining. We disagree.

GPU mining is a joke compared to the power behind the bitcoin network.  The economic design of this coin took this scenario into account.

If a major bitcoin mining farm wanted to have a say, we allowed it.

That's no joke.

Well, considering that the ASIC farms are located in Central Washington state (Hydroelectric power from Grand Coolee Dam 1 cent KWH); Iceland (geothermal power, cooling by outside cold air,  at 2 cents a KWH) and the mountains of China (Nuke power with outside cold air cooling), there isnt much distruction going on there.

Perhaps you think that the ASIC farms are cutting down trees and burning wood for electricity?

You guys were lazy and used the open source BTC code.  You could have used Scrypt-Jane, X13, or any of the other non-ASIC algos.

This further shows your inexperience and naivety  in crypto and business in general.  Also a lack of planning.

What a joke.
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Unlocked Thread!][ANN][BITS] BitSeeds - A Currency that Grows! on: April 19, 2015, 09:19:25 PM
That's correct.  The miner with the 130 petahash is collecting all of the coins and is mining in a specific pattern to do so.

maybe he knows the solutions prior to launch
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Unlocked Thread!][ANN][BITS] BitSeeds - A Currency that Grows! on: April 19, 2015, 08:38:54 PM
Looks like a lot of people are salty and possibly jealous that this coin, in under 48hrs of being launched, had a 3rd of bitcoin's hashing power on it.

Game on.

And wont they be disappointed when they discover that the devs have pre-mined about 7000 blocks (700,000 coins) without disclosing it?  That is in addition to the 100 million coins that are supposed to be in a "lockbox".
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Unlocked Thread!][ANN][BITS] BitSeeds - A Currency that Grows! on: April 19, 2015, 08:36:06 PM
The business model for the RainForest Foundation relies on donations from the jet setting celebrity class, not porn watching twenty-somethings that still live in Mom's basement.

The jet-setters need to relieve their guilt, and any criticism they might get from the public for their wasteful ways.  When they fly the Gulfstream to "the resort" and burn 20,000 lbs of fuel, producing 220,000 pounds of CO2, they then send $2000 to the Rainforest Foundation to plant 1000 trees, that will in their lifetime, absorb that much CO2.  Guilt abated.  Ready for next holiday trip.

Also when you're at your computer, can you tell me the winning lotto numbers next week, since it seems you have the ability to time travel?

5 minute blocks, launched Friday night, and now at block...basically 8,000.  I'm no math genius, but that should be about 27 days in the future..today...

Even at 1 minute blocks that should be 5.5 days...

I've actually lost respect for Richie for adding your coin, even if you paid him to be added.  Thought he had more sense than this.

Congrats........ you have discovered the scam,..... er..... I mean, BUSINESS PLAN.

Step #1.... get lots of coins, hopefully without the community knowing

Step #2.... get listed on an exchange.  Pump the coin on social media.

Step #3... wash trade the coins to a high value.  (buy your own coins for 1,000,000 satoshi each)

Step #4.... sell to the chumps that think your coin is going TO THE MOON!!

Step #5.... withdraw BTC and send to bitcoin mixing service

Step #6.... enjoy

The Rainforest Foundation is a very well established and very well respected charity.  The entire point of our process is ecosystem preservation.  That includes the markets as well as the planet.  It would be rather hypocritical to destroy one while supporting the other.

Altcoin speculator mining patterns are analogous to strip miners or fracking: extract as much wealth from a network as quickly as possible and it doesn't matter what happens afterwards.

Mining this coin has the potential to give back for the destruction their mining has caused.

Karma happens.

The kool-aid must come in extra extra large cups around there.  You guys are hilarious.

To translate the response to my latest post:

We are using the name of a well respected 30 year old charity to push a get rich scheme.  If you lose money on this, well....... its for charity.

I don't own a single BitSeed. I have not mined even 1. So for you to say that I'm trying to just get rich, is unfair and ludicrous. You can keep thinking that we will sell the 100mil or dump the interest or anything else to justify your reasoning for not mining or joining the community. Listen I completely get it, I have been burned by many altcoins before. I know its very difficult to trust and get behind an altcoin idea, because not 1 has worked successfully yet. But our intentions are to build a long lasting coin built around the concept of benefiting our planet by a major tree planting initiative, and global awareness push. And let's just say we have a few things, we think the community will love, that we've kept secret cause we have a few events this week. Just stay on the forums a lot of your concerns might be laid to rest, by the news.

You have no viable business model.

Here is your expense/income ledger:

Expense:
Develop coin
Promote coin
Server fee$

Income:
?

Potential income:
100 million coin dump once any exchange lists our coin

You can keep saying the same rhetoric about we will dump the 100mil. But like we've said numerous time already we CANNOT sell those. Rainforest Foundation will not sign off on that, neither would I, but you don't know me. Rainforest Foundation has a long standing reputation to uphold, not some ploy to take your money. But like I said before, you believe whatever you want to believe.

About our expenses and income ledger we will release that, when its time. We soft launched this coin early for the community. We weren't going to launch till Tuesday originally, but thought well let's give it to the community to mine and to hear their issues/ideas. All we've been doing this weekend has been compiling your thoughts, this week we will address many of them.

You really expect me to believe that you do not have access through a back door to a wallet that you coded?

Also, you dont need 4 sigs to open it, just the private key for the wallet and you can gain access directly from the block chain.

Dont believe me?  Post your private key to your BTC wallet here, or PM it to me.  I dont need the account number or your wallet password, just the private key.
