Besides tagmining which other pool for tagcoin can be trusted?

I used tag.hashfaster.com and it was decent, and I tried tag.cryptopools.com and it was also about the same as hashfaster. I keep them in my config as backup pools. The admins of cryptopools seem fairly active and respond to you within a day or so.

Techbytes is a pretty cool person ;P

BTw, have been playing with the mining rigs I have here - I have a machine running windows 8 with 2 x 280x and I get 750 from each, then plugged in the BAMT with 13.12 AMD driver and restarted on that same machine, and only got about 550 with each card, on exactly the same settings...so it's definately an operating system/driver problem..nothing to do with hardware in my case. However, on windows you can use the AMD catalyst center to activate the overclocking, just wondering how that is done via Linux - aticonfig?..

In linux you just tell the GPU what to do, and the drivers do the rest. IE, if you want the clock rate to be 1200 or 1400, you simply tell it. No need to run anything else. In windows, you have to use catalyst. However, linux can't undervolt via software, whereas in windows it can. For linux to undervolt, I have to flash the GPU bios with the undervolt setting.

For example if I want to OC my cards and tell them to go from 1130mhz to say, 1800mhz, I simply tell cgminer to flip to 1800mhz.

Usually when there's situations like this (whether it's mining or playing games), it comes down to driver issues based on hardware setups. For instance, most hardware has more driver support on the Windows side by default, due to it having more market share. GPU driver support is even more heavily geared toward the Windows users because most gamers are using Windows.

So it's likely a driver/hardware thing, but Windows has more access to more up to date drivers. I get better hash results in linux/debian (bamt) than I do with windows, probably because my hardware (ASRock 970-EX4 w/ everything disabled but USB and GPU) is 100% what BAMT was built for, so all the built-in drivers are prepped for the hardware.

Using other hardware, it'll be mixed. And when building linux from the ground up, unless you're good at building the drivers (sometimes having to use an old driver, which might take days to figure out) from scratch, it could lead to pulling your hair out.

That's another thing--I disable literally everything on the motherboard (via BIOS), except for the USB ports and built-in ethernet port. This prevents anything unused from taking power, and prevents any "unnecessary" driver issues. SSD is disabled, IDE, Floppy, Serial ports, IR ports, the whole 9 yards.. it's all disabled.

Glad to hear you've got some more hash rates!

So, weird thing. I'm watching all of my miners, and the one connected to this pool reported that it found a block. I log in and nothing shows on the pool.

Fluke?

Not trying to claim any coins or anything, but I'm just curious because other doge pools are solving blocks and this one seems to take awhile, even when it had far more power. Making me wonder if there's something up.

Not sure but if you found a block, then it will show.  There's no way to manipulate that.  As for pool taking forever to solve blocks, we just not having good luck.  This is why I'm giving out extra bonus for long blocks.  I wish we are finding blocks faster too as all my hashes are on it.

-tb-

Well that's why I mentioned it because this pool has had some bum luck lately, and cgminer reported it found the block in question, but the pool seemed to ignore it. Have only seen this issue in one other pool, and they ended up finding a backend issue later on down the road which was causing rejects and ignoring submissions--not sure if it was related.

Makes me wonder if folks are finding blocks and something is going goofy. Unless there's some epic bug in cgminer which reports finding blocks when it hasn't? The pool is what tells cgminer the block has been found, I thought.

Order 748 for 2 cards, first one went through fine, second one said it had already been loaded by someone.

Card: SEYW-8XX6TU-VUWC

Issue was resolved swiftly via email; thanks!

If we know that multiplier is fairly accurate, it wouldn't take much php (or whatever code MPOS uses) to spit out an approximate network hash rate on the dashboard.

Obviously, if the value of bitcoin skyrocketed, one would have done better by simply buying and holding. If I knew the future and knew that bitcoin would significantly increase in value, I would buy and hold.

I suppose significantly is the key word there. It's definitely going to rise over time. No surefire way to know how much time or value. B&H is one solid thing to do with these coins, in addition to mining.

With these numbers, I expect a Neptune to generate 7.5 BTC before it stops being profitable. I had no illusions about receiving more BTC than the ~12/each I spent. And yet I still bought three.

Finally, one of only a couple of us who is making a realistic projection. Mine was 4-6 with an upper of 12 depending on factors.

All I could do was shake my head in disbelief at the folks who bought Neptunes thinking they would crank out like 50 coins.

Realistic?
8 billion jump in one change in July?
57266 TH/s added to the network in a 10-12 days period?
That's 10K Neptunes at 5TH/s.
exactly.... not gonna happen

2,400 neptunes went to individuals. Who knows what deals KNC has made with businesses.

Not to mention the hashrate other companies will likely have online by then. I'm not claiming any specific difficulty, but none of this is outside the mathematical realm of possibility. Cointerra, when they ever ship, are going to ship a shite-ton of hash. More orders than KNC took in, ever.

Seriously. Avg 700 on ghash with basically no how errors. Certainly not losing 20gh except when running eligius. Since that has been repeated soooooo many times in this thread, anyone who was sitting on eligius losing hashes had nobody to blame but themselves.

I am tired of the trolls, I just don't get it. I've done spectacular returns with my jupiters, what a terrific choice going with knc compared to any other company. If you are just an angry nasty person who has to bitch constantly, you should just sell your machines. There are plenty of buyers out there still paying more than you spent initially, plus you will have mined a bunch of coin by now.

You're right avenger, I don't give a shit what happened to you. You fail at life, and things should go wrong for you. That's what happens to dirtbags. Yep, I'm a paid shill. I made BANK on knc. Suck it.

This is another good example of everyone's situation being a little bit different. RJBTC did well, while others didn't. It isn't to say every Jupiter was done poorly, or that they were each done perfectly.

How is that hard to get?

On the other side of the coin, I also don't see the point in constantly whining about it.
1810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 22, 2013, 08:36:29 PM
Something to keep in mind:

They originally were marketed at X hash rate, and ended up averaging over 500 which a lot of people then used as a platform to sweep away issues. Example, "stop complaining, is it more than the advertised price? Then you'refine".

That's fine and all--until KNC starts using the new average hash speeds, as the advertised price. Which they did.

Which is why we still have people complaining. What was promised for the first run was less than what was delivered--awesome. However, there are folks complaining about the issues after those first few orders. So I can understand why some folks are angry.

The company took the stance of "well this is the new standard". So if it's the new standard--even if it's an October unit--some folks are displeased if they're stuck in the 400's, and rightly so.

Had another stab at getting BAMT to work with latest 13.12 catalyst drivers and finally got it all working...but still only getting 520 to 550 Khs on each card.. tried tweaking it a little, will try some more...but far cry from the 750 everyone else is doing..will be interesting to see what the effects are with another type of logic board, then I can report for sure.. thanks vesperwillow for your help..Smiley

Awesome! Now to just find a way to get the hashrate up Smiley

Seems fair to me, keeps things spread.

btw totally forgot, what's the jackpot based on?
1813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin on: December 21, 2013, 09:00:29 PM
Well, I've had enough of playing with BAMT, problem after problem with no end result in sight... so I am going back to xubuntu and see if I can get 12.8 drivers working on that...

Good luck man. You'll find a combination which works. Pretty sure 12x drivers are what I had on my xubuntu build.

Worse case scenario, there are those of us willing to buy the GPU's.

Added confirmed/unconfirmed/orphaned balances to the getuserstatus API call.  It just took me a little while to find where the heck they were hiding.  Well it didn't take me that long once I realised I should have just searched for them in the github repo to begin with (/facepalm).  It has been a long week!

So ready for the next two weeks off.  Spent all my vacation time, but it will be worth it.

Awesome, thanks for the work.

Well, now you have some suggestions to try out next time you place an order Wink

Dogecoin is on multiple exchanges.

If they did it, and Cubits haven't yet, it unfortunately seems like an extremely uphill battle.

I just checked my Meralco (Manila Electric Company) bills. Doing a little calculations, I get the following in USD:

0.2852
0.3079
0.3181
0.3409
0.3636

It goes lower when the bill is higher.

So, if I get 11 GPU rigs consuming 11000 watts (doing 15 MH/s), that means I'm paying more than $2000 USD per month in power costs. That's half the revenue in mined coins. That sucks. (However, that also means, I'm getting $2000 USD I can use to pay whatever.)

You guys in Iceland have it a lot better.

Even then, paying the bill isn't as much an issue as having the wiring in place to support the power. At that level you need to have a subpanel or 2 installed.
