1801  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Roger Ver: Starting His Own Crypto Exchange? on: October 09, 2018, 10:24:54 PM
He's got money for advertising, but that's really about it in my mind for Roger's exchange if it ever comes out. I can only see this being a regular old exchange with KYC that everyone hates and all the basic features of an exchange, perhaps with a few BCH oriented functions on the site. Perhaps this might gain a legitimate userbase initially, but I can't see this being too successful in the long run.
1802  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Fiat deposits with no KYC? on: October 09, 2018, 02:29:54 AM
Any exchange you find accepting Fiat deposits without KYC are likely either very new with little reputation or straight up scams. There are usually alternatives to circumventing KYC, but it's especially difficult with a non-P2P fiat transaction. LBC may be a good option as some here have already said, but I would suggest going in small portions at a time to prevent yourself from being scammed, and only go with high-reputation people with high volume recently.
1803  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is tomatocage reliable? on: October 08, 2018, 11:56:52 PM
Yep, not only does trust exist to make sure you're dealing with someone reputable, there are also escrow lists available such as this one that exist to point you towards reputable escrowers- it's not completely up to date but most of the escrowers listed as trustworthy on there are indeed still trustworthy. Tomatocage hasn't been online since May 2018 according to his Bitcointalk profile, however, so I would suggest trying a different escrow from that list. Since it isn't updated, look at trust ratings to ensure the user is still reputable, and make sure the escrower has been active in the last few days so you aren't waiting forever for an escrow.
1804  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Cloud Mining FlashyHash.com is legit? on: October 08, 2018, 08:15:19 PM
A too-good-to-be-true referral program's usually a telltale sign of a scam or partially illegitimate site if you happen to see one- that's what really caught my eye on this scheme, and everything else that's been posted also deals with the fact that this isn't a real site. I would not suggest using new-looking cloudmining sites no matter how much money the site has claimed to have raised; if you really want to gamble in cloudmining, go with the older sites.
1805  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your experiences with Cryptopia (exchange)? on: October 05, 2018, 12:58:14 AM
The old site layout wasn't the greatest, but it was still accessible and worked fine. The site looks better now and it functioned fine back when I was on the exchange to list a few lesser-known coins like Bitcore for sale, nothing special or out of the ordinary. I have seen people report about the occasional problem here and there about the exchange, and it seems things haven't changed a whole lot on that end, but it's definitely better than a comparable exchange like Yobit. I would still exercise the normal procedures to be used on an exchange, like not storing too many funds on site (or really just store as much as you are willing to lose).
1806  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hashflare mining is not giving payouts anymore? on: October 04, 2018, 10:44:15 PM
Yep, most of the time, I only see self-moderated topics when there's scam posts going on in the Goods section of the Marketplace, or there's questionable services attempting to hide things in their ANN or discussion topics. It's not necessarily bad; one example of a good self-moderated topic I often see is philipma1957's altcoin threads, which aren't too censored at all and actually contain good discussion that I often read. The lack of transparency is indeed an issue, however, and I trust forum members with as much reputation as phil wouldn't censor out negative posts (there isn't much there, the thread is a mining thread after all) compared to a service.
1807  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are the trading tips for newbies... on: October 04, 2018, 08:57:12 PM
Go hands-on and test your knowledge out, see where you're lacking and where you can improve. Simulated trading and such only works to a certain point, and I encourage everyone to start out with an amount that you can afford to lose to really put what you already know to the test. The most simple advice I give to most people starting out in trading is to remove emotions from the picture and simply don't be too greedy. You'll avoid mistakes by doing so, and though it's easier said than done, once you master this you'll be well on your way to becoming a better trader.
1808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Have more coins in your portfolio in a short term on: October 04, 2018, 08:49:19 PM
For analyzing what coins might take off in the future, try looking at the roadmaps for coins and what may happen in the future with certain coins- that helped me out a lot when I was mining multiple coins, and it really didn't take me more than a few minutes to read through news and information about a particular coin. For the timeframe of how long you're going to mine, that's all up to you and how much you want to diversify. You could try mining one coin a day, or sticking to one for two days and switching to another after that. It's really up to you in the end to experiment and see what's the best.
1809  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are your opinions of shapeshift on: October 04, 2018, 03:28:11 PM
Might be worth it to use another service if you want to remain anonymous, Shapeshift definitely requires KYC now.
You can always go with blocktrades or changelly.

Blocktrades doesn't have too many coins listed, but you don't even need an account to exchange crypto.
On Changelly you do need an account, but no KYC as far as I'm aware.
If I had to choose between Blocktrades or Changelly, I’d likely use Changelly. It’s got more pairs, is more established as well, being a competitor with Shapeshift before the entire KYC thing came. I’ve used them in the past and the experience I had with them was pleasant, funds moved in quickly as soon as my transaction was confirmed.

Unfortunately, it also appears Changelly is starting to do KYC on certain transactions. I was browsing the Changelly subreddit, and one post that caught my eye was a user stating his transaction was flagged for KYC. If you’re going the anti-KYC route, I wouldn’t risk it with Changelly. The subreddit also seems to mostly be filled with negative posts towards Changelly; I haven’t used the site in a few months, so it is possible that things have changed since then.
1810  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Marco Streng CEO Genesis Mining: Please Save Cloud Miners & the Mining Contracts on: October 04, 2018, 03:09:51 PM
Are there actually any customers of Genesis Mining who have made a profit with them in these last couple of years?
I've looked at some of the numbers in the past and always thought it was pretty much impossible to get any sort of ROI from their contracts.

I have yet to read a single good argument for investing in any of these cloud mining services.

If I would really want to mine without buying the hardware, I'd just rent a miner.
I doubt that would be profitable in these times, but I would at least know exactly what I'm getting.
I’ve also found that getting hardware hosted at a datacenter is a decent option if you’re willing to go through the process of buying miners yourself now. It’s a bit annoying buying direct from Bitmain now if you’re hosting at a US center, as tariffs are applied and KYC is now required from Bitmain, but you are still mostly in control of your hardware, and there isn’t a high risk of theft as long as you’re hosting with a reputable datacenter or hoster that has history. Mining profitability isn’t the greatest at the moment as you mentioned, but using this method means you have significantly more control over your marchines compared to cloud mining.
1811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why not play games online instead of gambling? on: October 04, 2018, 01:14:18 PM
Nobody I know that gambles plays gambling games, as the truth is that there’s not as much excitement and thrill in gambling if there’s nothing to gain or lose from plying the game. The fun part of gambling comes from the risk and reward like wxa7115 said, and when that’s removed you just have very basic and simplistic games that truthfully aren’t very interesting.

I’ve actually won around 1 BTC total gambling online, though I’m slightly negative in winnings, so it definitely isn’t impossible to win. For me, it’s the same as gambling in a physical casino for te most part, and I also know others that have won big in gambling. Everyone’s experience is different, so I understand where you are coming from.
1812  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are your opinions of shapeshift on: October 04, 2018, 01:06:19 PM
I used to use shapeshifte quite a lot, especially during the time when bitcoin fees were extremely high and I needed to quickly convert BTC to another alt to save a bit on transaction fees, but KYC has killed it for me as well and I’m now looking at alternative services like morphtoken to swap coins when I need to do so. There’ll always be services like shapeshift around that don’t require KYC, but it takes a bit of digging to find a reliable and reputable one.
1813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where are 0% house edge dice games at ? on: October 03, 2018, 08:40:57 PM
I hardly ever see dice games or casinos in general with a 0% house edge, and that's for a good reason- having a house edge assures the casino operator that they'll be making a profit in the long run as the odds for a player to win in a game like dice are less than 50%, and so there's less risk as a result of this to the operator. Some sites or projects may temporarily have 0% house edge starting out to attract users, but this period of low edge usually doesn't last, and I haven't seen such a site in quite some time. The problem of a site not having reputation and possibly running off with your money can also occur with newer casinos, so keep this in mind.
1814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: start earning mining? on: October 03, 2018, 08:38:21 PM
Depends how much you're willing to spend, how much risk you're willing to take and how much you're looking to make in profit. You can start mining with a single RX 470 4GB card and a basic rig for a few hundred dollars, though you won't be making much and it'll take you quite some time to even break even (over a year), or you can try with a bigger rig with more GPUs that costs more, still takes as long to break even, but you get more profit once you get past breaking even. The mining environment at this point in time isn't that great, with most cards making less than $0.5/day before electrical costs, so I actually wouldn't invest too much at this point in time if you do choose to invest in parts and video cards for mining.
1815  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying gift card with Bitcoin on: October 03, 2018, 04:11:54 PM
I was just attempting to find the cards in some locations like eGifter a week back and I wasn't able to find anything. I'll check out Bitrefill for sure, do you know of any other sites that still sell AGCs? Definitely nice that Amazon has potentially changed their stance on third party giftcard sellers though, I don't like buying through services like Purse.

Most of the cards I've seen sold on the subreddit I listed were near the lower range, below $25 or so, so it is possible that a number of those cards were just lying around or were left unused for some reason. There is still the possibility of carding still, though.

Giftoff.com was my go to place for amazon.co.uk cards. They were pulled a few weeks or months ago. Now they're back. As far as I can tell you can only buy .co.uk cards.

If you're in Europe you can buy amazon.de cards from Bitpanda which has been fine for me too. Dunno how big the price differences are between countries but they'll send Europe wide, again it's only .de from there. You can buy .com cards inside the Copay wallet which was near instant for me too.
Alright, thanks for the tips! I’m just looking for .com cards, Bitrefill seems perfect for that and their voucher increments seem perfect, I’ll probably look at Copay as well. Haven’t ever used the wallet before, might consider using it as a hot wallet in the future for daily transactions. I wonder if there’s been an official announcement of some sort in regards to this, or if the pulling and restocking of cards has been mostly silent like it seems to me.
1816  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS USA Only] BNIB Ryzen Threadripper 1950X $580 BTC on: October 03, 2018, 03:53:04 PM
Rebump! Always open to offers, please PM if interested.

it is a good price bro  I just don't need one.  I have the 1920x
Thanks for letting me know, I haven't sold such expensive electronics in a long time and I'm not too in touch with the threadripper high corecount CPUs nowadays haha. The 1920X is truly a great product for price/performance, especially with the discounting of Ryzen 1st Gen products right now. I assume you're using yours for mining?
1817  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying gift card with Bitcoin on: October 03, 2018, 03:48:25 PM
I've begun using Reddit to change crypto to gift cards, especially for Amazon gift cards, as they pulled all cards from third party sellers a few months back and the cards are only obtainable through rewards points on gift card sites now.

Amazon cards are back in quite a few places and i think bitrefill added them freshly too so something's changed.

I just don't ever want to buy a gift card from a private individual. never in my life have I come across anyone who had a pile of them lying around. I automatically assume I'm buying from some carder.

The subreddit I'm talking about is r/giftcardexchange, and I suggest buying in smaller increments there unless you've already got reputation there. I only traded there with reputable vendors for Amazon gift cards, and I've never been scammed even though I went first for a few hundred dollars of gift cards. Not the easiest way to obtain gift cards, but I've been able to get many at 85% through the subreddit.
1819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Little Example How Matingale Doesn't Work Even In Sportsbetting and Trading on: October 02, 2018, 11:48:05 PM
Interesting read. I've used the martingale method in the past with sportsbetting, trading, and dice, yet it's never qutie worked out for me. I always lost money from going on long loss streaks, and I ended up never using the method again. This was back in 2015, and from that point on I always just gambled without using specific, rigid methods, and I've had more fun since then. I know many sites lure in newbies claiming that Martingale and other methods are legitimate based off of crude and often wrong math, but hopefully this thread clears things up and helps people realize that such methods generally don't work.

1820  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: hash to coins mining loosing coins on: October 02, 2018, 11:24:05 PM
According to this thread I found, seems like the pool is currently experiencing errors in regards to withdrawal and the pool admin isn't doing anything about it and has been missing for some time. I'd suggest moving to another pool in the meantime, and keep a lookout on the thread I linked to see if there are any updates there. According to that thread, it's been months since the pool's been properly working, so there is a chance that you may never receive your coin transfers.

I stopped using this pool a few months back, sad to see it's fallen into this state of disrepair. Hopefully this is all resolved in time.
