1801  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do not limits your investment... on: July 03, 2023, 10:29:16 PM
The only problem with coins with a value of almost zero is that they could either slip into the shitcoin zone or they will move to be a valuable token and honestly with altcoins investments into coins without a strong foundation it's all gambling at the end of it!!

But seeing the success from your friend,  I guess luck is on his side with these altcoins and  let him continue with them and maybe that 3 bitcoins can double.

Btw that no limits when it comes to investments is a double edged sword which could either reward you handsomely or throwing funds in the drain.
1802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Considerations Before Investing in Bitcoin - For Beginner on: July 03, 2023, 06:21:26 PM
I found some interesting pointers that are in the OP that I think kind of get mixed up or never get differentiated between trading and investing especially when it comes to beginners🤔
  • Analyzing the Market
  • Managing Risk
  • Consider Bitcoin Volatility
  • Find a Mentor or Consultant
By no means am I saying we can't use trading strategies to your investing techniques  ,but as a beginner  don't you think a simple buy your bircoins and forget about them should be the best approach without having to shower the new guys on the block with all this information needed to get them started...honestly if this is what I was told to do before investing in crypto, I would run and never look back!!

If Bitcoin is to look attractive to beginners I think let's start with baby steps, like best security to consider, how to know if a platform is legit, know how to send and receive your bitcoins and apply the right fees without sending all your coins to the miner's because the BTC number looks tiny when in reality you have sent a couple of thousands of BTC...
1803  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is buying merit parmited on: July 03, 2023, 05:48:56 PM
Buying or selling of merit hasn't  really been put out there on whether it's allowed or not ,but by forum etiquette it isn't as it may promote account farmers, ban invasions and possibly bring more spam!

Besides merit was introduced to bar spammers from ranking up as spam was mostly generated from signature campaigns and bounty campaigns that paid more based on rank but with its introduction this has gone down.

Btw merit alone isn't enough if motive is to get into  signatures as it requires a certain quality of posts to be made for one to be enrolled in most signatures around here! Remember it's quality over quantity!!
1804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still hunt for airdrops? on: July 03, 2023, 04:43:30 PM
I gave up on airdrops ever since the altcoin bubble burst , and we moved from ICOs to IEOs...of course IEOs are better but the higher risk ICOs offered lucrative tokens and airdrops were generous too.

Not forgetting the fact that too many people out there know how to mint their own coins means we have too many shitcoins on the market that have given airdrops and altcoins a bad reputation because of selfish devs trying to get rich quick!
But of course we still have good airdrops out there just a matter of knowing good platforms to get them..
1805  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] SINBAD.IO [Mix Your BTC Quickly] Signature Campaign | Up-to $150/w on: July 03, 2023, 04:27:22 PM

1806  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Belarus wants to ban bitcoin P2P transactions on: July 03, 2023, 01:32:45 PM
I thought banning of peer 2 peer exchanges is more difficult to do than a centralized exchange as traders could have moved their services to more personalized platforms like whatsapp for businesses or say a telegram channel which can still be used to facilitate these exchanges...tbh their efforts are appreciated in combating cyber crime but crypto is to big of a revolution to be stopped by a ban.

Btw I think this is a mammoth task the Belarus authorities have embarked on, besides are these guys saying cybercrime will instantly drop once these channels are closed ?? I don't think so as people will always find alternative ways to exchange and what not.
1807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been threaten to stop gambling on: July 03, 2023, 11:46:16 AM
This actually happens if there is a similar thread I'll lock this thread.

My friend invited me for a round of drinks just last night to confess something, and that is his wife threatened to leave their house and file for legal separation because the wife just discovered that he's spending a lot of time gambling,
If this is how marriages are being disbanded then this is some sad reading, what happened to communication Huh If you ask, this lady has been looking for a way out and she found his gambling habit to be the perfect ticket out of this marriage!!

The, why not ask the better half why his gambling,  is if for fun and has nothing to do or his in it for the profit ??

she thought that he's just playing games but she discovered his logged because the idiot has his password in the browser, so the wife check his withdrawal and voila his losing a lot of money and she also discovered that he won big money in the past but didn't tell her.
This is what happens when you go witch hunting,  you will always find what you looking for..great detective work wify:)

I guess that blew her patience for not telling his winning, so he threaten that he should stop gambling or they part ways, my friend choose his wife so he cannot play until he can convince his wife and promise her to tell her if he won big. Cheesy
Good thing he choose the wife to save his marriage,
but Bad habits die hard, nevertheless we all need to start from somewhere to get something resolved, goOdluck Mr Man.

How about you have you been threatened by your wife, your girlfriend, or your parents, if so tell us your story.
Threats don't seat well with anybody and unfortunately I haven't being in such a situation.
1808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: July 02, 2023, 04:42:09 PM
I like the message!

There is so much unnecessary pressure that we put on the little ones without considering what they really want! Though some will appreciate the push to get the interest into crypto with the help of a guardian or parent!
But ideally trying to push the crypto message on the little ones is meant to help them prepare for the future as the digital age is here.
1809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will World Economic Depression Affect Bitcoin? on: July 02, 2023, 09:28:55 AM
Just because bitcoin exists online doesn't mean it's immune from what happens out there in the world like the  Economic Depression!
And since this affects the fiat system for example...as banks and what not get closed down, people revert to old methods such as the barter system to trade for goods and services, but I think bitcoin could become a valuable asset to use as a medium of exchange like what was used several years ago as gold or silver.

Overall bitcoin could pump like crazy should this happen in this Era as people will panic buy to protect their worth.

If we have economic depression, it will affect not only bitcoin but even other assets like gold. People will look for survival necessities like food and shelter and not spend on luxury.
But bitcoin is not a luxury if that's the impression it has, it can actually be used as any other currency out there and it being decentralized could be a good thing against  such phenomenon as economic depression.
1810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: July 02, 2023, 06:28:08 AM
I came across an article How Old Do You Have to Be to Gamble in USA?. In this article, i saw that the minimum age to gamble is between 18 to 21 years. I wonder if the online casino do follow this minimum age for gambling.
I believe the standard age to gamble is a minimum of 18 years as this means the company isn't dealing with minors and they are considered fit to make informed decisions and seeing these states have gone an extra step of bumping the minimum age means they want responsible people to play on these casino's!

As for online casinos following this minimum age, I suppose it's a yes and no answer because were  KYC isn't mandatory I suppose minors find their way here to test their luck, and were KYC is almost mandatory this is a no go area for children.

Yes, the gambling sites have our age data through the KYC documents. Do they ever restrict anyone who is underage to not to gamble?
Honestly I don't think so, but morally upright gambling platforms need to stop such clients from having further access.

Also, if we find any site allowing minors to gamble, can legal action be taken against them?

If you know were to find them yes legal action can be taken.

1813  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk; a school on its own. on: July 01, 2023, 07:11:59 PM
Indeed it is!

And the fact that this place was and is still among the few reliable places to get first hand information of crypto related stuff...it will always be the school to rely on!

And the best part about this forum, it accommodates all classes regardless of when you enroll into the BCT school and there is always someone to help Smiley

I also create such thread last year. But the image in the thread are all invalid and I don't know how to get them back because I have deleted all. I'm that thread I said, Bitcointalk is a university on its own where students state from year to final year. You can see more from the thread without the images https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5407074.msg60602039#msg60602039. university is always a community on it own because everything happens in the society happens in the campuses.
Interesting thread, suppose updating image links can revive the thread by using the old links to open image which is there , then download images and upload to other server like talkimg.com
1814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Being Knowledgeable before Bitcoin investment is very Good on: July 01, 2023, 03:28:14 PM
When you go to school , University or whatever  it is, this is what they say because they are going by the book but in reality you need to go off script sometimes!

But let's face it, the reason most of us aren't crypto millionaires today.. is because we want the knowledge for us to be convinced to invest, but fortunately the early hodlers were probably told of the potential that lived within bitcoin and the put down a couple of dollars on them without thinking twice and didn't need the knowledge...and that leap of faith today made them millionaires. I suppose the 10,000 bitcoin pizza could relate to this of not having the knowledge,  but all in all sometimes it's all about the gut feeling and taking the risk.
1815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? on: June 30, 2023, 05:49:20 PM
I saw this online and thought maybe i should bring on to bitcointalk for discussion.

If a person gamble and at the end of the game he starts to feel remorse is that a good thing or should the person be on alert?
Let's all agree on one thing, if you had $100 dollars to gamble with and by the end of the day you manage to flip it to over a thousand dollars...do you think any one will feel remorseful, I don't think so!

But on the other hand, if you had a 1000 dollars in your gaming account,  and blew it to zero..here anybody would feel they would have done better things with the money than gamble...but again like they say, only game with money you can afford to lose and you won't feel the remorse!!
1816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigeria continuous banning of crypto on: June 30, 2023, 03:30:28 PM
A few weeks or is it months back during elections, we we reading and seeing all sorts of video clips of unrest because Nigerians were unable to withdraw money from their banks as the banking system was crippled,  but now that the have an alternative I really don't understand why they would still chose to suppress a solution that has come right on their door step...

What are they afraid of?? Loss of revenue of through taxes  Roll Eyes well this is a possibility lol, loss of control...

Maybe we are jumping the gun, and this might  have changed for the better??

1818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining Firm Riot Secures 33,000 New Rigs for $162 Million on: June 29, 2023, 08:51:01 AM
However you want to look at this , this is another signal for anybody doubting if bitcoin is real, its very real !

And just so you know, no business will invest millions of dollars without having a foresight of reaping profits out of its business..btw this is bullish bullish news, I like it 👌!!!

I wonder why they are bumping up their .mining power, any possibility of a new player coming on board in the mining space or its business as usual Huh
1819  Other / Meta / Re: Is it allowed to post in English in a Local Section on: June 28, 2023, 05:21:05 PM
If the comment remains on topic with what is being discussed..I think there is leeway for it to stand!
Besides some local board's such as the Nigerian one have the language so similar to English and if the topic is that sensitive or engaging and you want to make your contribution this could be allowed but subject to Local board rules Roll Eyes

Out of curiosity what happens to posts made on the English board using a local language??
1820  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it too late for newbies? on: June 28, 2023, 04:19:55 PM
I don't know how logical it is to ask this question, but I'll ask it anyway.

Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin?
This question has been countless times and it's okay to ask anyway and to get clarity and I will ask you look at it this way....you know how we have the internet...in some parts of the world do not have it but should the internet not reach such people because they have been left behind Huh NO! People might have got on early with crypto but you can still get on board and use it for different reasons, be it investments, be it a form of money or whatever it is you want from It.

All my friends are talking about cryptocurrencies, but I still can't wrap my head around it.
Slow but steady wins the race, don't rush.

What would you recommend for someone who has no previous experience? Do any of you have resources that you can recommend to me that will explain cryptocurrencies in the shortest and most simple way?
I would suggest you start with YouTube as we have several interesting channels that help simplify this and BTW don't worry too much about the experience, we all started from there Smiley
