922  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do Not Lose Everything Youve Gained in One day, or One Trade on: October 25, 2023, 09:53:34 PM
Crypto trading is not for the faint hearted reading all these stories we read about trading, and it's unfortunate your buddy was caught up in a bad trade, imagine what would have happened had that trade gone his way...it would mean next time he might be twice as confident and would have lost more money !!! If you ask me its good that it happened now for him/her to use risk management in his trading.

Secondly to trade Altcoins takes a special skill to be profitable because these are easy to manipulate as they have low liquidity...and to avoid losses go for high liquid trades to avoid being used as the liquidity.

Lastly experience is the best teacher and it's good he went through this class to be more prudent, good luck to our friend hope he recovers his losses...

If there is something I hate about champions League football is that if you want goals, goals won't come and this implies to the Newcastle vs Dortmund, maybe the weather conditions put them at a disadvantage but this is their home turf and can't pull this excuse...

For those of us out on the hunt for the big odds unfortunately this Matchday didn't have big upsets and maybe will have to wait till next month for another go  Cry
924  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2023 end game sentiment check on: October 25, 2023, 08:14:02 PM
Wanted to go for the new all time high but realised we are nowhere near the all time high of 70K but if we spoke of the new high of 2023... I would say very much possible especially now when price has the momentum and everyone is ignoring the hoax of an approved Bitcoin spot ETF that sparked all this green move...I can only imagine how far price would go had the approval been actually been real Roll Eyes

Otherwise from the poll will settle for the "Prices are random" knowing very well prices could go down or up any second...
925  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of war on global economy. on: October 25, 2023, 07:24:17 PM
1. Increase in the national GDP is least likely to be caused by a war.
Kind of don't agree...

2. Oil is considered the most crucial resource in modern warfare.
Not sure if they are correlated but we have seen/read of   a few cases that has lead to war all because of minerals like gold, diamonds and in some cases all because of territory like we have see in the current Russia Ukraine war. Don't get me wrong, oil is another primary reason for war!!

3. War affects the stock market by causing a decline in stock prices.

What do you guys think? Is this true or false?
Stock market can be affected if the markets it supplies goods to one of these countries is caught in crossfire and because of the war can nolonger supply them as this market is closed then expect a red market.
926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe I should have taken this risk earlier. on: October 25, 2023, 01:22:56 PM
I didn't plan to do anything with the money I saved for my education but recently the price of bitcoin has increased by about 10 thousand dollars and seeing this increase I think that I should invest in bitcoin now instead of leaving the money in the bank for these four to five months.
If you ask me this is the wrong way of investing in crypto!!

Many new  & old crypto investors wait for the markets to first show their intention then they will want to jump on board and when markets pull back because of exhaustion we now change the narrative that we have lost money ...the rules of the game haven't changed, buy low sell high and never the other way round.

Although I think it's a bit late for me to invest. Maybe I should have invested when Bitcoin was 26 thousand dollars then maybe I could have made a good profit at this point
If you are investing a small amount you can never know the real profits you are making unless you invest big as profits are proportional to the size of capital injected.

928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Instagram Banned Bitcoin on: October 25, 2023, 06:07:16 AM
I think there is a missing piece in this whole Instagram account banning, what are the chances that such accounts could have been promoting or scamming other insta users and this received overwhelming reports that got these accounts banned or they maybe they got banned for using fake followers or bots Huh And considering this hasn't affected their more popular platform Facebook means these are just some isolated cases imo Roll Eyes

Just for arguments sake did these guys ban any prompt crypto related account ??

it's all just interest. facebook has a libra project which is a competitor to bitcoin and of course they don't want bitcoin to be more popular than libra on their own platform.
Do these guys really think they can compete with Bitcoin, this has to be the joke of the decade  Grin
If they want that seat at the top they better compete fairly and not have a rigged race !!

~snip~
These two players saved the team 3 points. Grin

Andre Onana and Maguire being the headliners for United ummh can't wait to see tomorrows sports sections in the newspapers lol  Cool Grin

-snip-

If we ignore the final result, United are as dull as can be. If it weren't for a miracle (that Onana finally did some work) United would have only one point after 3 games.
When it comes to gambling, I never include United because these guys are to inconsistent week in week out!! And today was going to be another record breaking for them, but Onana showed his worth today... lucky break..

In fact, even Inter disappointed me in this round (as they burned my handicap bet)
I really thought Inter would fail to win because their wins have never been convincing and actually went for the away win for my pool B competition but unfortunately Salzburg came short to settle for a draw. Otherwise tough luck with the handicap bet  Cry

Manchester Uniteds Maguire seems to be on fire of late, over the weekend picked up a man of the match award and today against Copenhagen scores the only goal of the game to secure an important 3points,and Andre Onana put to the test with a late penalty that saw him save  his team from throwing away their lead, congrats boys!!!

Galatasaray showed a really amazing performance against Bayern Munich.
Hands down to Galatasaray for putting up a brave fight, but  not sure if it's Galatasarays work rate or Bayern seem to have slowed down in their lethal approach because we haven't seen the score their cricket scorelines, and btw what's with Bayern and their late 2nd half goals, they need to stop this drama  Roll Eyes
932  Economy / Economics / Re: What does being rich mean in your perspective? on: October 24, 2023, 07:21:44 PM
It's one of question which differs from person to person. How do you define richness?
In finacial terms which is the most common reference afaik , being financially rich usually means your financial status is simply above average and you can make money while sleeping without having to think about when your next pay cheque is coming in. It's safe to say those considered to be rich are those that own several businesses and have the elite status in a country or in their circles and can afford whatever tickles their fantasy.

RICH IN HEALTH,LOVE,RESPECT ETC.
Oh yeah, we can be rich in other areas besides the financial sense  Cool
933  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A more scientific mindset is necessary to avoid scams. on: October 24, 2023, 10:51:34 AM
When you say scientific mind then you are already implying this is an intelligent mind...but does it mean a scientific minded person can not be scammed??? Am Pretty much sure such minds can be scammed too.
As far as am concerned it's actually common sense that will allow a user from being scammed and doesn't require some certain level of IQ to tell from what's a scam and what isn't!!

Besides what happens if the scammer has a scientific mindset...i guess it's chaos and still comes back to common sense to save you from being scammed.

I can't help but admire this team, talk about skill, btw this isn't my fpl team but the highest of game week 9 in the entire world..

Am wondering to myself what stops us from getting such scores with such a practical team and without any Manchester city assets that I expect everyone to own at least 1 but a non City squad, this is a slap in the face..well played Gretna FC(Serbia).

Team Kanapka, congrats on that solid 110 points making you the GW9 champ

936  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a 20% Annual Return good ? on: October 23, 2023, 04:33:49 PM
With my experience in the cryptocurrency market, I decided to develop a short-term Bitcoin spot trading strategy using the TradingView platform and its strategy programming tool. I managed to create a strategy that yields an average annual return of 20% according to backtesting.
20% on a small account might sound small but if you are managing a big account of say a million dollars, this percentage in profit is more than generous!!

As for the backtesting session, how many times did you test your strategy and were you using the bar replay for this??

Did you factor in any potential news and how it could affect your trading results?? If all this was done with satisfactory results then you could be ready for he real markets.. Cool

My question is, is this return acceptable, or in your opinion, what would be an acceptable or good return?
20% ROI is more than acceptable unless you want to over-leverage your account for some crazy profits that is likely inspired by most of these YouTube videos that show one trade gaining huge profits !!!

BTW what trading platform do you intend to use??

You can get an APR of more than 20% on Bitget Flexible savings
20% is like free money Tongue and had to check this out...

From what I saw on BItget>> https://www.bitget.com/earning/staking the popular coins don't get the offer anyway near this rate, which isn't surprising as the model is used to hype the smaller tokens/coins  Roll Eyes

Division 3 B

Woodie - 10$ freebet winner
Feels good to be part of the winning circle, hope to see more of these in the coming weeks..

Btw special mention goes to Jinetics1111 who had a good start to this gameweek, and for a second I thought this was the player to beat, but unfortunately, sport being so unpredictable the game changed tide so quickly to get me back into the game & clinch the sweet prize of 3B.

Hope gameweek 2 gets a better reception than we did in GW1, and hope everyone knows the schedule if possible do these players get PMs or this is against forum rules and can't be used?

938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin were a physical currency. on: October 23, 2023, 02:07:40 PM
I'm new here and don't know much about bitcointalk forums.
Firstly, welcome to the btcointalk forum hope you will have an exciting jouney.

But I thought about Bitcoin for a while. At one point I wondered what it would be like if Bitcoin was a physical currency instead of a digital currency. It would not have gained so much popularity, and its price would not have increased so much. If it were a physical currency, it would be very difficult to buy, how would you buy? And had to go to different stores to sell or buy. How difficult it would have been then. Are you thinking about this?
If bitcoin was a physical currency it's most likely it would have been shut down by now because it would have been easy to trace and get the money printing machines destroyed or surrendered to whichever state they operated in considering it's competing with an official currency of a country. I am pretty sure Satoshi thought about this and found the digital space to be no man's land and the rest is history..

And btw had bitcoin been in its physical form it would have been unpopular as authorities would find it much easier to convict users as evidence would have been there to be used for the conviction, otherwise happy how it turned out to be digital.

939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you prepare for a Bitcoin bull run? on: October 23, 2023, 09:40:58 AM
Before a 2024 halving, you must make your preparation for it.

Checking your wallet. Do you still have access to your wallet?
Access to wallet ✅✅
Ready for for halving ✅✅

Making some wallet backups.
Storing backups safely.
Be ready for a 2024 and 2025 bull run with usable wallets.

If you are a witness in a big bull run but you lose access to your wallets, it's damn terrible.
Creation of Backups and ensuring that I actually have access to these coins was and is always done as the first step of creating a wallet!
And I applaud you for this information,as this is useful for users new to the crypto world as you don't want to be buying Bitcoins because of the halving only to find that you have been locked out of your wallet because you can not remember where you saved your private key or mnemonic or a character is missing that grants you access to the wallet.
940  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Security Should Be Your First Target as a Newbie on: October 23, 2023, 05:46:14 AM
I think this applies to everyone, and I have noticed one problem that comes with crypto in general... most users never want to DYOR on best security practices, like not clicking  on unknown links especially for the cyber social, don't share private keys with anyone unless they are your spouse or something...and we never want to go into details to know of what to look for when it comes to choosing a wallet (either going for custodial or non custodial wallets and their pros and cons), could it be the bad habits we pick up of not reading manuals in real life and out of the box we believe we can figure it out as we go and ignore all the research required Roll Eyes

So I am sorry if I have too much emphasis on the term newbies even though that is not what I mean in reality,  since security is everyone and we should all take it seriously at all times.
Newbie here means-Fresh and straight out of the fiat world Cool
