1021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone encountered any dog race betting here? on: October 10, 2023, 08:34:55 PM
Use to see dog racing of Greyhounds on some old sportsbooks but seems it was never a popular sport which left horse racing to be the only surviving sport in this category. Probably animal rights activists did get their wish but this is my assumption...

Btw Even if we talk about horse racing today, very few bookies would say they have these game types because
few users actually play these .

I became curious for sometime now about dog racing as I have not seen it here
Especially with most of our crypto bookies, very few can
1022  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You data is not safe on centralized exchanges on: October 10, 2023, 08:14:18 PM
Things I tell family and friends, if you haven't entered or played any lottery and you receive a message or call saying you have won X amount yet you did not play/buy a lottery ticket then you automatically know it's a scam!!! Same principle can be applied here, you have passed KYC and documents aren't expiring soon why would an exchange request you to go through the process again without any heads up before expiry... sometimes it takes your sixth sense to see through such scams.

By the way ,with below standards of safeguarding user data why do exchanges feel compelled to carry KYC checks on clients when they themselves can't guarantee security??

Looking at the nature of your service , consider upgrading your account to copper membership for a small fee  from here >>>> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote and enjoy the benefits of posting images without restrictions and  lesser waiting times to send private messages or posts for your customers/potential client's as brand-new/newbies have certain limits not until you rank up.

Lastly, welcome to the Bitcointalk forum  Cool
1024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Here are some forum features that I discovered after spending some time here. on: October 10, 2023, 04:13:10 PM
Let's see how well I know the forum  Roll Eyes

  • Quick edit button:  Not familiar but just tried it now and love this feature, which is far much better than hitting the edit button Smiley
  • Hide Button: I have a few local boards hidden because of the language barrier, no offence to those from those boards.
  • Forum stats: Use to use this a few years back but today I have my go to boards/threads for the extra info
  • Hide Avatars and Signature: honestly wasn't even aware of this but on the marketing side of what different projects to to achieve with this, I think it would hurt their exposure  Roll Eyes
  • Watchlist: I have used this for boards I want to see of any new content but if am not mistaken threads you comment on automatically get to your watchlist .

I don't know if anyone uses this, but here it goes!

-snip-
I have seen it but never get to use it ,and seeing how it works I think am wired in such a way to first see first page before making a contribution to the topic to avoid going off topic.
1025  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading on your own vs social trading and copy trading on: October 10, 2023, 03:44:13 PM
I think that by trading on my own I am just overtrading...
Over trading  means one is trading based on emotions and not following their strategy and risk management!!!
For lack of a better term this can also be termed to be gambling and best remedy to overcome it is by limiting how much capital (number of trades) you willing to lose on a daily basis.

I am looking for options to get trading ideas/trading signals etc to analyze those ideas and select only the best ones.
Am not a fan of these signal groups and would advise you to try learn the art of trading by yourself to avoid paying out money to people that make most of their money from subscriptions than they can actually trade !!!!

What options does one have to view trading ideas/signals from other professional traders?

These services aren't free and the closest to being reliable is copytrading as you choose which trader fits your ROI target's...but still I will advocate trading on your own which is a painful journey but will reward you once you get it right.
1026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: October 10, 2023, 02:45:23 PM
Welcome to the 3rd Season of the BSFL!

There's also a slight change in how we'll calculate the freebet round winners.
First criteria will be total points, and only the best answer in the league will be able to claim the H2H point.
Second criteria will be all the H2H duels in that round between the tied players. If the player already claimed a point for the best answer in the league in a H2H question, that one will not be counted.
These two changes of First criteria and Second criteria in regards to best answer kind of contradict each other and disadvantages whoever gets the best answer correct Roll Eyes

Perhaps my question should be what is the best answer here ??

Otherwise great rule changes for the competition
  • No reminders
  • Automatic disqualification

Btw with the automatic disqualification, this also means spreadsheet will be open much earlier correct cro2 Huh

And no mention of VAR  Roll Eyes

Great sense of humour lol, on a serious note you can use this discount as a test run of the service and give a nice review of the service and won't hurt your pocket with the discounted service waiting on you  Cool

1029  Economy / Economics / Re: Agriculture vs oil on: October 10, 2023, 12:06:05 PM
We know the oil market is booming and countries with oil resources are really making a huge fund out of it and sometimes they do it at the negligence of another local natural resource.
Before the boom of the oil market, prices per barrel were at their lowest...but because of external factors such as the Russia Ukraine war which can be considered as an artificial factor that caused prices to spike up and don't look like will be returning back to normal anytime soon because demand has pulled price up unless over supply happens to counter demand, then it can drop.

But, of course, the agricultural sector, though not given the proper recognition and the required investment is one sector that contributes seriously to the development and dependence of most nations .

No matter how blessed a country is with oil minerals, if its agricultural sector isn't working and she has to rely on other country for her food and agricultural resources then in event of war or political differences they might suffer.
I think very few oil rich countries actually have both , and in cases of needing food ( agriculture output) trade makes it easy for any country to get what they want if they have something trade... So this basically shows each resource is equally important.

Agriculture vs oil, which is the big deal when it comes to the economic strength of a country?
Oil might be the big money deal but both play a crucial role especially knowing that very few countries have both of these resources and rely on other countries to obtain via trade and to contribute to a countries economic standing and revenue collection.
1030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why won't the US government give up? on: October 10, 2023, 11:19:45 AM
  • what is the reason why countries are still going for CBDC when they speak of regulating bitcoin?

The government failed to control the popularity of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and in order for them to stay in the game, they would most probably issue CBDC, a digital product equivalent to paper money, while having full control over its supply just like the fiat money.
With their thirst of printing money whenever  need be,  I wonder what the total supply for the CBDC will be or they will keep minting new coins out of nothing  Roll Eyes

  • Why do the US government give up their pursuit to control bitcoin after over a decade because bitcoin is Decentralise and no one can have total control over it so won't they just give up on their pursuit?
Afaik the US government hasn't given up on this as can be seen by all these lawsuits going against exchanges of which they are trying to gain some kind of control by regulating bitcoin indirectly through exchanges , and unfortunately we all know that they can not win this fight !!
1031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I recently convinced my employer to start paying me in BTC, it has been great on: October 10, 2023, 09:00:35 AM

Recently, I convinced them to start paying me in BTC. I save what I have to save, and convert the rest to fiat via P2P trading. Its so quicker and I get great deals, no more bullshit. I think this has been a great benefit of crypto for underdeveloped nations.
For the company to go with your preferred choice of payment, they too must be making a saving but for book keeping purposes I don't think this helps them much unless the invoice goes under as a crypto payment...

I have been accumulating bitcoin from a long time from my freelance work, but getting paid in it by my regular work feels awesome!
The writing tells the whole story, hope you onboarding other users onto the crypto boat  Cool

This sounds a bit strange to me.

I live in an underdeveloped country, but I work remotely for a fairly good web development agency. We don't have a lot of financial services/wallets here, so we had to go circumvent a lot of obstacles for me the money to get to my local bank account.

Does he pay you with black money? I find it hard to believe that a bank would have problems with you receiving income from a job, as long as it is legal and declared.
Considering Op mentioned having fewer financial services in his locality.. this could mean interbank transactions and a  possibility of delays to get this processed  hence going the Bitcoin way....
1032  Economy / Reputation / Re: Murat Scammed 62k Metropoly token on: October 10, 2023, 08:28:05 AM
Here is the transaction of payment to Murat:

https://etherscan.io/tx/0x9f13e8f313d1bf85527e1fb419fa7e459028c999fb8d6d8513d7ccea95aa5bb1

The tokens are still sitting in his wallet. I don't know why he didn't disburse them to bounty hunters
Seeing that the address doesn't have any eth to cover fees, I assume the BM is probably waiting for Metropoly team to send him/her some ethereum to cover fees of sending out tokens as this would mean BM incurring the extra cost if his to send now.
Btw am wondering why the team has equally only sent out 24.8% (62k) of the bounty allocation and not everything owed in one transaction ??

I will neutral tag him with a direction to this thread. That should get his attention, seeing as how he never responded here on forum on the issue.
Fair enough, but seeing the conversation from the other thread, the writing is on the wall that Metropoly project is being the dishonest party not honouring their part of the deal.
1033  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Violence and anger could be a sign of gambling addiction in youths on: October 10, 2023, 03:39:31 AM
When the situation of the country is too hard to comprehend, youths who are supposed to be the future leaders will start turning into criminals in front of us.
This is a topic we were debating on with a couple of friends about politics and corruption, but then I feel turning to crime as your option is limiting oneself and there is a lot of stuff that Can get you going ,but the main culprit is that the generation of today loves to have it easy and need to learn to carry their weight.

This is the third case that have happened to someone very close to me ( not family ), and they all have one thing in common, SPOUSE ABUSE and CRIME.
Whatever the hardships we are all responsible for our decisions and shouldn't be justified for it especially stuff like spouse abuse which could the voice of reason!

Is there any effective way to make sure youths stays where the are told to stay instead of looking for quick money? Gambling isn't the solution to poverty it will possibly drown you deep into more poverty.
I think it all starts with the foundation, get people to have an education to get their literacy skills up which will them a shot at succeed and find other means of making a living as gambling shouldn't be the 1st priority as the house will always win.

1035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card gambling fuels gambling addiction on: October 09, 2023, 03:16:56 PM
I don't know how deep the debt on credit card gambling is today until I do my own research and mehn, and it's very sad, many people are in debt because they keep using their credit cards to fund their gambling hunger.
I think digital money has a different discipline approach as compared to fiat because if you were gambling with bands of money and are now left with a few leaves of paper you will know how reckless you were , unlike where your bank allows you to be in the negative but still have money to spend this breeds carelesness..

Imagine someone you know telling you that it will take him 12 years to pay off his debt
Financial jail and it's only in the world of fiat where you get to find this kind of stuff, but then again I wouldn't blame them because credit allocation goes with the capacity to service the loan and the credit score will give all these numbers if a user can pay it back! I guess this is a disadvantage and advantage in accessing finances otherwise with crypto it's either you have or you don't.

Which makes me think that Credit card is far more helping to fuel gambling addiction more than anything else
Let not the few bad apples make access to finance sound like a bad program, there are plenty of undocumented success stories that have come from the use of credit facilities, and anybody gambling to the extent of getting themselves into debt needs help and casinos also owe players this duty to prevent them falling into the addiction phase.
1036  Other / Meta / Re: Does deleting our own posts harms our acccount ? on: October 09, 2023, 12:33:10 PM
Anyhow I want to know that if we delete our posts ourselves, does it have a bad effect on our account and can we still get tagged or something or it is completely normal ?
First off forum users delete messages for different reasons, for example :

  • it could be that the reply itself was off topic and you realised this and took it down
  • someone might ask you to pull it down as it might contain sentive personal information about a forum user
  • fyi others have gone has far as posting private keys in public  and deleting a post is all done to correct these mistakes.

But does deleting a message leave a dent to our name, it's definitely yes and no..just because you deleted without the mods doing it doesn't mean someone else didn't see what was happening and if this tends to be a habit, you would
be surprised that people do notice these things and keeping tabs. Besides why write stuff that won't stick Huh just shows some thought never went into the writing .
1037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My regret for not adopting bitcoin earlier. on: October 09, 2023, 12:13:33 PM
Something Bitcoin has shown us is that many of us aren't ready to take up the risk that comes with unexplored ventures and feel better off watching from a distance not until someone comes out in the open to say this worked for them then we jump on board as the last passenger & when its deemed safe!

Fyi, Rules of investment that nobody talks about,to be successful in whatever we do , do something different from what the next person is doing and be guaranteed to make insane profits.... otherwise doing what everyone is doing just tilts the odds of success against you.

Today again I experienced that Bitcointalk was down for a few minutes.

Now that you have mentioned it...
Didn't get any message like above ,but CloudFlare did show that server went offline on Bitcointalks side in the morning which gave me an idea 💡 that we were experiencing some downtime, hope no DDoS stuff..
1040  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Common mistakes by unskilled traders on: October 08, 2023, 11:04:29 PM
Many newbie and crypto enthusiastic think trading is easy until they lose on the first day, 1 week,1month, 1year and they finally quit.
There are common mistakes they usually makes which are,

_ Not planing there trades: there is a popular saying that he who fail too plan, plan to fail.
Before entering a trade, an entry point and exit point must be spotted if you want to succeed.
We I started trading, I thought I would just eyeball some chart's and guess the direction the markets will be taking and sometimes it worked, but lack of a plan/strategy caught up with me and I had more losses than I could count my wins which opened my mind and approach of the markets buy trading with a strategy.

_ Don't make emotional driven decisions: Emotions like fear and greed can cloud our sense of reasoning and leads to impulsive action, just stay calm and stick to your plan.
Learning to control emotions is one difficult skill to learn especially of you aren't profitable yet.

_ Not managing risk properly: this protect your capital, by using stop loss other, It minimize potential losses.
Failing to manage risk can be associated with greed, alot of us want to get reach quick but this process can only happy with a good risk management system to survive these markets for a long time.

_ Not doing enough research: knowledge is key in trading , knowing the craft is very important, take your time to study the market, analyse chart pattern, and stay updated to news that can impact your trade.

Remember trading requires not just strategy, but discipline
The problem I was getting too many of these YouTube videos that claimed to have the perfect strategy and thought I would take the shortcut and win but unfortunately trading takes a lot of time for you to become a natural at it.
