FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU $18 for the Kindle version?  Shocked And they wonder why people don't buy books...

Wait, what! There's no free version available on the net or the anti-net?

Sounds like a job for crowdfunding... raise 2.x BTC, and I'll buy the Kindle version, rip copyright protection off of it, and publish it as a torrent and on Freenet Grin

FishDawg, the problem is that you are already pushing the limit of your customers patients, offering a bitpenny or two for 10-20 minutes of filling out some survey or installing (and subsequent spyware cleanup) of silly games.  If you add to that the time to gather proof of complience and emailing support, then it becomes too much for most people.
My main problem with the site is you are either selling your personal information, or you're giving backdoor access to your personal information :/
I'd rather use MtGox

I will always buy back at 0.5

1832  Economy / Securities / Re: How much BTC have you lost out on because you listened to Vandroiy? on: July 18, 2012, 02:46:20 PM
I lost millions by following Vandroiy's advice not to play the state lottery. Angry
There's no guarantee you would have won the lottery. However we have historical evidence that Pirate payed out last Monday.

*cough* pastperformanceisnotanindicationoffutureresults *cough*
That's entirely irrelevant. Pirate DID pay last Monday, so anyone who didn't have coins with him missed out on the interest.

1836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to send BTC to an address that doesn't exist? on: July 17, 2012, 01:28:05 AM
Here's an address:
1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE
While the checksum is valid, it's pretty safe to say that nobody owns the private key for 2 reasons:
-The probability of generating a case-sensitive vanity address that long is incredibly low
-All of its inputs are unspent
1837  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Send to charity. on: July 17, 2012, 01:24:01 AM
Can you update the screenshot regularly?
1838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dear Bitcoinica Hacker on: July 16, 2012, 09:00:18 PM
high return = high risk, etc etc. I've lost money in investments before, too. Again, the problem occurs when you give your money to other people for periods of time.
1839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dear Bitcoinica Hacker on: July 16, 2012, 06:06:54 PM
Yes, after the linode hack, they were completely stupid to leave any significant amount funds in there. 0 sympathy.
So are people fools for continuing to use Mt. Gox after they were hacked? Or do we decide who is a fool retroactively?

Directly after the hack? Absolutely. They'd still be fools to leave any significant sum in there (signifigant meaning you can't afford to lose it) or any amount for a long period of time. Mtgox has at least gone a year without a catastrophe on this level and I'd say the same there. Bitconica on the surface was drastically more sketchy and appealed to greedy fools but yeah, don't leave shit you can't afford to lose in other peoples' hands, be that mtgox or anyone else. What's so difficult about that?
So you keep all of your cash under your pillow then?  What about when you go out to eat?  Are you a greedy fool if someone breaks into your house because you didn't take it with you, but it would have been 'oh poor shock' if you got mugged while going to lunch?
No, I keep it in an FDIC-insured bank. Unfortunately, there's no such thing in the Bitcoin world, so beyond "depositing" which is really closer to "lending" and should be treated as such, my coins stay in my well-secured wallet.
1840  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Circle of Trust [Game/experiment] on: July 15, 2012, 10:54:48 PM
Again, just because Bitcoin isn't gov't backed doesn't mean that crimes are can't be prosecuted. Just because there are no KYC laws for it doesn't mean that it has to be perfectly anonymous. Just because there is no recourse requirement doesn't mean that the customer can't demand collateral.
