DEPOSIT|{sum}, where the sum is an integer, written in BTC (note that you can not deposit less than 10 BTC). You will be quoted an exact sum, which you must send to the exchange address (1Fx3N5iFPDQxUKhhmDJqCMmi3U8Y7gSncx). Don't round anything, the decimals are there to identify you as the beneficiary. You will be credited the full amount.
This sounds like nothing could ever go wrong. Identify deposits by their decimals. Roll Eyes

After all, remember that the Internet was first a playground for child pornographers and sex predators before the government got their act together and cracked down on these practices.
I wonder what other fairy tales the author believes. Has anyone told Andrew Lu that the tooth fairy isn't real yet?
Lol... if you think there's no child porn on the internet, you haven't looked at all. The US government is all but powerless against child pornographers and sex predators. Not condoning the practices.

Pirate would likely also go to jail, if he broke any law with a serious punishment - but so far, I haven't seen he did...
You live in an interesting fantasy world. I'd love to hear your explanation for why Pirate was making 100% payouts, including exorbitant interest rates, to everyone lucky enough to request a payout and then suddenly stopped paying out any funds at all without making any disclosure of the total assets and obligations the funds had. You also might want to read 15 USC 45(a)(1) and 11 USC 548(a)(1)(A).
I can answer you, what I think about it, but it would have nothing to do with the topic and BadBear had explicitly forbidden me to get this topic off topic.
So, if you want, start another topic with this question - there it will be legal for me to answer.

Back on topic, now there are 38338 active shares - which means that since the last dividend payment Goat and Nefario sold  far over 10k bonds - each of which they promise to be worth 1BTC + divs, if Pirate does pay out.
Still doesn't ring a bell?
Still you think that "Goat has done nothing wrong"?
If so, then you are so fucking morons Smiley
The number is rising. Yep. But your interpretation of the contract is merely a technicality; everyone knows that a better wording might have been "each bond represents 1 BTC of BS&T debt" or whatever. Goat can sell up to 40K and still be able to pay back when pirate does.
1249  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why I trust Patrick Harnett on: September 04, 2012, 02:48:18 PM
Let's discuss a specific example.  Let's say I have 10,000 BTC and lend out half of it at an average monthly interest rate of 10%, profit per month is 500 BTC.

There is more demand for loans so I have a choice, I can lend out more of my own BTC and eliminate my operating capital buffer or I can take on deposits.

Let's say I am able to get people to deposit 5,000 BTC in two month CDs at an average monthly interest rate of 6%.  I lend it out at the average monthly interest rate of 10%, additional profit per month is 500-300=200 BTC.

So, I have increased my profit by 200 per month and I still have my 5,000 BTC operating capital.

With this example in mind please describe your concern.
Why wouldn't you return 400 BTC of deposits after 2 months?
1250  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: September 04, 2012, 01:05:42 PM
I'm pretty sure this isn't in the blockchain but just something that blockchain.info provides internally in it's database.
Ok, so it isn't so interesting ...
If you use the rawtx api in 0.7, you can put any data then OP_DROP to add a message into a tx.
1251  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: ★ VESCUDERO's Risk-free Weekly Term deposits at 1.5% ★ on: September 04, 2012, 01:57:33 AM
Depends on the volume. My net worth is probably a few hundred thousand Euros, mostly real estate, and my more liquid assets are also safely invested. If I had decided to test the grounds with an operation worth to the degree of twenty thousand Euros, like Vescudero, it wouldn't make any sense for me to sell my real estate, but I can still safely guarantee the investments. Now, since two complementary things don't make any sense, the universe has to disappear.
It still makes more sense to borrow against the real estate and use that. So this translates into, "I make so much money in my genius business plan that I can assume all the risk, keep only a tiny sliver of the profits, and the people I choose to share my bounty with -- those who would invest in something that looks exactly like a Ponzi scheme".

Mining bonds at GLBSE offer even higher returns than Vescudero deposits, and nobody question them.
Show me one that promises over 20% APR and claims no or low risk and I will question it.

I'm not going to get into the whole health effects debate, but my stance on recreational use is basically the NAP.

Do what you want, as long as you aren't endangering me or infringing on my ability to do what I want.

It's your body; who am I to tell you what to do with it? Oh yes, I forgot. I'm a lobbyist.

For McDonalds?
It's a little complicated, but I actually lobby for an oil company. See, if pot-smoking were made legal, so would hemp=growing. Did you know the US is the world's biggest importer of hemp?

1255  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: High-interest, low-risk 'investments' are like perpetual motion machines on: September 03, 2012, 03:35:55 AM
I think some of the loan sharks are legitimate when they give deposit returns of 1-2% simply because they charge so much for the risk of bitcoin loans and share this profit margin. I believe these returns will normalise and are beginning to drop as the market starts to mature.
Absolutely. The market is maturing. Slow it is, but we had to have our ponzi eventually. Furthermore, I think some lenders have proved it (at least the one(s) with open books).

Mining is still profitable, if done correctly. Also, there are people willing to borrow in bitcoins using one-time, short, high-interest loans; a "loan shark" can borrow at lower rates then loan out to these people.

If their books are closed, though, then they still have the burden of proof. Pirate had the burden of proof.

1258  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Honest Bob's thread of ponzi ponzi ponzi rustyryan on: September 03, 2012, 02:11:44 AM
I'd call ponzi if it weren't for the A- credit rating from PatrickHarnett. My money's still staying away, though.

I'm not going to tell anyone what to do with their money, but I'd advise they don't send it to Rusty.

Patrick, do you have his ID?

I only have 10BTC with RustyRyan.  The longevity of his deposits is yet to be seen, and that is why the rating is lower than a comparable person that has been around for six months.  Maybe I should have used a 1-10 scale - would that have been better?

ID was not provided.  I received this question a few days ago and I recommended that person seek it directly.  The system can not force of compel deposit takers to provide all of the details, nor is there some third party audit or regulation in place to protect the unwise.  If you want to deposit with him and are unsure - ask RustyRyan the questions - that's what he is there for.

I'll state it again, the WPW thread is a collection of information that provides a starting point for people to do some of their own research.  It saves me answering a lot of questions that I was receiving by pm because I was getting asked for recommendations of where to place funds.  Also, without an attempt by anyone to do this (even if I get called names for doing so), it would be blank, and having an alternative could be quite useful.
Perhaps I'm taking the ratings wrong; they're not ratings backed by you. "A-" at this point is only relative, and does not state any specific probability of default. "A-" is currently the lowest rating.

1260  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] [YARR] Pirate shutting down. NEWS INSIDE on: September 02, 2012, 01:55:00 PM
Serena, you attacked me personally as you always do when somebody doesn't agree with you.

Ok, give me 3 examples.
My pleasure.

And a one
If you don't have a question, seriously, stop being an asshole. Nobody cares whether or not you think I am a vampire or not and whether or not you want to bid -299 for YARR or whatever. Seriosuly (sic) you're making yourself look like an idiot.

A tahoo!

Oh dear lord nimda.. You and your "exposed capital" theory.. seriously.  Cheesy
Do you want me to explain again how 1 bitcoin at 7% plus .89 at 1.5% equals 1.89 bitcoins at ~4.3%? Sheesh.

(Aside: I am still willing to debate you on this, even though pirate has defaulted. My model still holds; its predictions were correct. Note that everyone who bought YARR (without later selling it, like I did) lost money.)

A thuree
As for your bold statement, I invite you to provide a list of warning signs. No really. Let's discuss this. Surely you aren't just trolling. You probably honestly believe what you are saying. So let's discuss it. I'm open. I'll change the topic of this thread since it has become a discussion of whether or not I am a scammer. Are you game?

I already replied usagi on PM. But it's probably better to say it here:
I'm not game.

Time will tell what usagi is.
A vampire princess, or a commoner werewolf.
A japanese or a chinese from Taiwan.
An immortal or a simple mortal.
A girl or a guy.

Naw you don't get off so easy. -1 for not having the guts to stand behind what you said. I am kind of disappointed really, I was planning on having a lot of fun picking you apart. I guess you know where this would go and you don't want to have to face up to the fact you're just trolling.
Wow, three in the same day!

And then you have a tendency to be condescending...
Quote
ciuciu you have a complete and fundamental misunderstanding of how insurance companies work. I'm going to explain this to you once more.

And, you seem to fail in proper debating. For example, I post this, in red to attract attention:
You did not respond to this part, the most relevant part:
"Neither of these are the case. A pirate default results in a [partial] loss of investors money in both PPT and YARR."
I hope you don't mean to tell me that a pirate default would not result in a loss of YARR investors' money, because that's simply not true.

And you STILL never respond to it.

Note that in this post-pirate world, my statement has held true. A pirate default resulted in a net loss by the holders of YARR.

Then, you fail to respond to ciuciu's question above.

That ends today's segment of ad-hominem.
